Where to look for real o2 WWE? - P3300, MDA Compact III ROM Development

Anyone know where (site) the final original o2 WWE WM6 will be released? I want to keep a (daily) eye on it.
and in case anyone wants to save me an hour or so: are the various cooked artemis roms flashable (without more unlocking) to an o2 orbit that is at least sim-unlocked (using it on another carrier in Canada)? Don't need to know how, just _if_ there are instructions somewhere showing that it is possible to use these cooked roms without first paying for an unlocking service.
Cheers,
D

http://www.my-xda.com/alreadyHaveOrbit.html is the page where the update should go (www.my-xda.com).
On your other point, a very few claim to have had success with CID locked phones but at least as many have bricked them - and as there is no original ROM available to revert to for the O2 Orbit it probably isn't worth the risk.
I CID-unlocked mine within 5 minutes via imei-check. £20 isn't a massive amount and they take PayPal...

thanks for the advice, I'll either unlock as you described or just wait for the real thing from o2. Thanks for the website too.

Different ROMs on variations

Apologies if this has been asked before, but if I were to buy the SPV M2000 and o2 later released a ROM update for the XDA2s including BlackBerry support (which I'm really after) would I be able to flash the SPV M2000 with this o2 ROM?
Thanks!
Anyone?
The simple answer is no,
the more complex answer is: no.
Before you use the O2 updater, you need to have the O2 ROMs installed on your M2000. Not really worth it in my opinion.
I wish that the CAB files for applications and customizations were available , wiping and installing isn't my thing. Love to experiment, but I am deathly afraid of bricking my phone
Hmm. Bummer. Thanks.
Is there any way around this?
well, if the apps you want reside in extended ROM, then the cabs cab be extracted (there are already extended ROM cabs on the FTP). If something is in ROM, then I dont know
upgrading orange spv m2000 to o2 firmware to get blackberry
it can be done
but i have not been to complete it
you do need the service as well (two downloads)

Bepe's WWE WM6 on Orbit

I've read through the WWE thread and still haven't managed to find people's experiences with this ROM and their UK Orbit's.
Can people please post any issues, and more importantly if I'll brick my Orbit (as from the shop so unsure whether CID locked / unlocked) if I follow the steps in the original thread?
Thanks.
I had no luck. I'm waiting for WM6 ROM from O2 UK to get the phone working again as I can still access the bootloader.
Same for me. Followed all the steps, but still my phone bricked. Mine was CID locked, but because there were several succesful upgrades on CID locked devices I also tried it. I'm also still able to enter bootlloader, so just have to wait for retail WM6 ( have no RUU signed update to restore my device )
I moved from a Orbit with a HTC P3300 Rom (CID Unlocked) to a WM6 Bebe Rom at the first attempt.
It's so much quicker than the WM5 Rom. It's a lot more stable.
If you want me to post the steps and a Apps I've tested I'll do so tomorrow.
I couldn't get Bepe's to load with the boot loader, but the next part with the windows.nb file worked..........
Sort of, I think the bluetooth is not working properly as I can't create a port to allow me to sync with my pc. Apart from that it is working fine. (Touch wood)
doesn't seem worth the risk...
sounds to me like it isn't worth trying at the moment then! shame cause i want to get wm6 running but would rather not have a bricked device ... and the odds look high!
come on o2... where's our official rom?
I've just upgraded my O2 Orbit and it worked fine. CID unlocked it with IMEI-Check and then followed Bepe's instructions.
mmmm... fair enough but i just don't wanna shell out $20 to get a cracked rom...
If I am not mistaken is it not £20 as opposed to dollars I would pay a tenner but like you I will wait for £20
Does anyone know if HTC will require an actual P3300 IMEI in order to download the WM6 update when and if they release it?

probably, they will require you to give this to prove you have a HTC branded device. TBH they shoudl provide a ROMforAll no matter what provider you have you should be able to upgrade to a clean manufacture rom.
for those who have O2-Orbit UK and can access only bootloader, did U try to flash german WM6? just run file downloaded from german o2 (without any hexedits etc. just run xdaorbit-windows-update.exe). I think it should work, because CID lock is not to lang version, but for operator (02_01) and both UK and DE Orbit are ARTE2000. Worth a try. If it works let it boot to calibration screen plug usb cable and reflash using bepe's ROM. Let us know. I'm not sure if it'll work, I'm CIDunlocked.

Do you think the same would apply if you Hex edited ARTE10000 to ARTE2000? Sily question, I know, but is that the only level of security that actually looks for model ID?
in o2 ger image its already ARTE***** so u dont need to change anything (it means it shoul work for arte100,110,1000,200 models maybe 300 as well - htc love) But this is looking only for ModelID, in ROmUpdate Util it checks somehow for ModelVendor/Operator - addr:x0003BA6C - password BsaD5SeoA
I also "BRICKED" my Orbit. I am also the impatient type. Why wait for O2 to release a ROM image? I have spoken with O2 directly. My friend even works for their technical division. As far as I have been able to find out, from friends and his friends at O2, there is NO O2-UK WM6 in the pipeline at the moment. Not enough users apparently. When I found out this I put my Orbit into O2 shop for repair. It was flashed under warranty as a software fault. I have since CID-unlocked it and flashed to WM6.
Absolutely amazing. WM5 to WM6 is night and day. So much faster and a lot nicer looking too.

My experience: O2 Orbit bought in CZ. My way was: CID unlock -> try-and-brick (...) -> German original O2 WM6 ROM (with bootloader) -> Arte WM6 from bepe.
I am very happy now (extremly stable!) and at this moment I do not plan even upgrade to a new ROM.
Btw solved the issue with localization (keyboard only - Resco works perfectly) and external keyboard support for my beloved iGo Sierra bluetooth keyboard: AE Keyboard mapping SW solved my needs
MY experiences
Being a corporate O2 customer, when I bricked my Orbit they sent me a new one and said I could do what I wanted with the old one.. it's still a brick, having tried every suggestion on this forum!!!
MY new one, however, is running Bepe's WM6, having run the USPL first.
I tried Black&Blue, but found it drained the battery too quickly, and I reall ydon't need all the extras it comes with. I've got Bepe's WM6 running brillianlty - all I add is a cracked version of TomTom 6.02, which runs perfectly, BatteryStatus purely for a power display, no overclocking needed, and TodayAgenda for improved calendar on Today.
I use push mail to connect to my office exchange server, and have all my personal mail ending up at fastmail.net, where I connect to using IMAP - deleting from the phone deletes properly on the IMAP server now, unlike on WM5, so you really can have a synchronised mailbox usin IMAP and a free account at Fastmail.net...
I also have JetwareMobile installed to enable me to use my Siemens HKW600 Car kit (£40 on ebay, superb!), and I have some Sony DR-BT30Q bluetooth headphones which work perfectly...
I have a CID LOCKED UK o2 Orbit. I ran the USPL program by Prof and then Bepe's WWE ROM.
worked fine and WM6 is great!

Yes, but that doesn't work if you've already bricked your Orbit
Does anyone happen to have a WM5 ROM to restore to if the WM6 goes horribly tits up - I'm not overly looking forward to the idea of not having the pride of the mobile fleet working... the humiliation!

O2 UK Orbit CID Locked MUST NOT do ROM upgrading!!

Since O2 UK had introduced the Orbit to the UK market, there's non of Official O2 Orbit ROM released.
So, UK Orbit CID Locked owners MUST NOT do the ROM thing.
Ask : Why must not do that??
Ans : If the device is bricked, there's no way to fix it without paying the money to "Unlocked CID Dudes" and I bet you don't want to.
Ask : What do I need Official O2 Orbit for?
Ans : If the device is bricked, it's the only way to bring your device back to life without paying.
Ask : How about I download the Orbit German ROM and install it?
Ans : the Germany ROM will NOT allow the UK Orbit device to do that.
Ask : How about USPL thing before upgrading the ROM?
Ans : You will take a very high risk if you want to
Ask : If I upgrade only the OS?
Ans : Same as above
Ask : What should I do now?
Ans : Wait for the O2 UK to release the Official O2 Orbit ROM and you can take any risk whichever ROM from wherever you want. If it's brick, you can bring it back to life with the bootloader.
Ask : When the O2 UK will release an Official ROM for the Orbit?
Ans : Don't know the right date yet but I'm pretty sure that we have been waiting for that news.
Ask : How about the owners that already brick their device?
Ans : Hehe, they're still waiting for an official ROM also. (including me)
SO!!, why ain't we force them(O2 UK) to release the WM6 soon. or how about we ask them to release at least Original official WM5 out here like O2 Germany does, so we can get it unbrinked.
yep, that's the situation I'm in.
I called o2 a few days ago and they said that WM6 would be available in a few weeks!
They also said it would only be available for a limited time. Strange.
Anyway, I'm stuck using my old Nokia 3330 until o2 release a ROM update!
O2 update
I emailed O2 with this exact question....(When will WM6 be available for download)
They called me a day later saying that they intend to release WM6 for the Orbit at the end of summer (around end of August sometime). That was exactly what they told me.............
I guess it's just a bit more of a waiting game then..........so annoying when version 6 has been around for a while already.....
Bricked Device Solution
Hi guys,
Just thought I'd let you know that I too bricked my Orbit. I took it back to the shop and acted like it just happened by itself ;-) They took it in and I had it repaired free of charge within 10 days. It can't hurt to try.
hehe...
i bricked my orbit, taken it in to shop, no questions asked they re-flashed ROM back to WM5 with no charge or sucking the back of their teeth, saying that it has taken nearly 3 weeks,

i did the WM6 upgrade on my CID locked orbit, and it worked first time without any problems, i think if you follow the instructions carefully you will be ok. not sure if the USPL upgrade method will unbrick a device but it does work, you just need to be brave and very careful.
it was posted a number of times already...
- before upgrading, do uspl to be safe.
- have original rom before upgrade, so you can always come back to original rom if you want;
it is always your choice upgrade it or not. nobody force you.
regards,
Hi,
I did my first ROM upgrade the other day on my CID locked O2 XDA Orbit using the USPL method.
Found it very clear and easy to use and I now have a lovely WM6 version.
Just follow the instructions properly and you should be fine.
Cheers
There is now original O2 Orbit WM5 ROM available so you can return your orbit to how it was..http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314866

O2 Orbit Original WM5 Rom 1.25.206.2 found - SD card image

Hello Everyone, Have spent 6 Days hunting for "O2 Orbit Original WM5 Rom ARTE200 1.25.206.2" with little success
I am now putting a bounty on the head of this ROM in the form of a £40 Paypal transaction. I will make instant Payment after the ROM has been verified as the genuine ROM and then make the ROM available to all though Rapidshare, and with some luck help to un-brick a lot of O2 Orbits before O2 UK WM6 is released.
Contact me on [email protected]
Problem caused by - Updating ROM without running USPL on a CID Locked O2 Orbit, The device is USB Bootloader contactable but requires the identical original ROM to restore "Error 244 Device ID"
Many thanks to everyone for their continued help and support.

the only way you will find this rom, is either on o2 xda website after a WM6 update and hopefully they will do this as a downgrade option after upgrade to wm6.
or
the only other way is to know someone who works for o2 uk, there repair centre will have the only copy, and the only way to maybe even get a copy, is if you are good friends with someone in that department.
currently, there is no rom, for o2 anyway, yet.
goodluck finding it though, you just never know.

There is already a dump availalbe, but no known way to bypass the bootloader security to load it.
How are the guys at IMEI-Check unbricking them? Either they have a WM5 O2 rom (which means it has leaked) or are they hot-swaping/reflashing roms, or using some vulnerability in the bootloader?
Just out of interest, does anyone have an XDA that has been unbricked by IMEI-Check and did it show any signs of being disassembled?

This is indeed quite interesting, it is obviously a SD flash used for restoring the Orbit. If you could make an image of the SD card I'm sure there are many people here who would be eternally grateful.
well, this will be done as soon as i get home tonight, if someone is willing to host the file i will make it available,

I Just UNBRICKED my orbit with this
Hi. A BIG BIG THANX !!!!! I just unbricked my orbit with this. I tried to flash it with WM6 and failed to run the USPL and bricked it. Now using this original WM5 put it back where it was before I bricked it. I had usee Artemis USPL and replaced the RUU_USPL_signed.nbh with this and worked like a charm from boot loader. (record button and softreset) Now I can flash anything I want and bring it back if I brick it again. Thanx a lot. YeeeeeHa
Hey guys,
I'm new to this forum but I must say that I am very impressed abt the works done. I do have a very expensive brick!! Ya! Ya.. my orbit is a BRICK. well I didn't do it, A friend of mine did.. tried to flash WM6 mini O2 into the orbit and VIOLA!. A BRICK!! Well! I knew this wud happen but hey, it wasn't me who did it.Hence I'm in this forum day in day out. tried every possible thing. flashing with SD or MTTY, every thing U guys had offer but got the same device ID error. so far no hope, but am currently downloading the image thru rapidshare http://makus.folijka.pl/OrbitO2UK.rar. Have to get a rapidshare account though. Hope this works.... will post soon.... keep ur fingers crossed.
A Big Hug to step0011. for a hope.
And the rest for the XDA developers.. all i can offer is my wallet.cause I'm not a software developer, but am into hardware repairing. And I will post the results if any for u guys who keeps this forum alive and kicking.
cheers pof and to all.
Another happy WM5 Orbit user again. It has beena chore using an OLD spve200 for the last few weeks. Taught me a valuable lesson though.
Thanks for the up.
Bravo! And well done to the O2 service bod who forgot to take the MicroSD card out!
Now how do I use it? Put it on a SD card and switch on?
i just replaced the german rom file with the uk orbit one (renamed to match original) and then ran the update from windows (phone in bootloader via usb).
A little suprised it actually worked in vista!
Yippeeeeeeeeee!!!!
Fisrt of all whoever he is he owes step0011 40 bucks..
Lots and lots of thanks to step0011 for providing the ROM image and also to the guy who forgot to remove the SD card. He had made a lot of people happy.
Hi guys.
I did it. My orbit is alive and kicking. there is nothing to it, just download the ROM and run RUU. and VIOLA! good as knew.below are the details
bootloader (this is all I can see now but before when it was bricked it showed the GSM no. too )
IPL 1.25.0001
SPL 1.25.0000
Device information
ROM version: 1.25.206.2 WWE
ROM Date : 10/4/06
Radio version : 02.67.90
Protocol version : 4.1.13.28
ExtROM version : 1.25.206.10
Works like a charm. to think that I wud have to wait for official ROM release.
Now I can do anything I want. I can brick it as much as I can. and flash the WM6 ROM. Now I am thinking of tinckering with the ROM cooking steps u guys are telling abt. I'm going to customise my own ROM. . First of all to superCID the orbit. wish me luck.
much thanks to all who keeps this forum alive.

There's so little about the O2 ignito here, but i'm thinking to get one and try a wwe Rom on it.

True true, but don't forget it's the same hardware anyway so all of the updating applies to all 3 versions of the phone.
I personally have the MDA Compact IV and have updated ROM/SPL/Radio fine, and my friend has the O2 XDA Ignito and has also updated all 3 of his so i can confirm its safe
The XDa Ignito comes unlocked as standard - you can use any SIM card in it. As for the rest - I put Olinex 1.40 on mine and then have flashed 3 different roms from here all fine
I'm going to put a new rom on my Ignito tonight hopefully.
First though I want a copy of the original O2 rom to put back on if necessary.
So far i've managed to dump the rom from the phone to my computer, but now just need to convert that all back into a ROM somehow.

same position here, i got the raw files and the spl but trying to find out how to build a rom with the raw files.
please update if youv managed to find anything
I also have the raw files but if I have no idea how to get these back into a normal flashable o2 rom! I am sure we will manage it if we need it for warranty purposes though if it comes to it
i think we need to start a new thread for this to get more attention, some of the advanced users will deffinitely be able to help.
its worth doing in my opinion
As has already been stated, there's loads of us XDA Ignito users on here. Within 2 days I'd flashed a new SPL and ROM onto my device. Would be nice to have the original o2 rom to roll back to if necessary but I'm perfectly happy with out it currently.
As far as I'm aware o2 are one of the few operators that don't lock their devices. Out of all the handsets I've had from them over the years I'm as yet to receive a sim locked one.
markquinton,
can you help us out with redeveloping the original o2 rom!
seems like you have some ccoking experience having a custom rom on your orbit! see my previuos post in this thread
I'm afraid I only built custom rom's from the base HTC one's made available for the Orbit originally when WM6.1 came out. I've never worked with raw files and wouldn't have the foggiest about how to get them back into a flashable state. Sorry!
hi all am hoping to get this thread going again as im having trouble geting Unsigned-Hard-SPL-Diamond-OliNex onto my ignito. did any of you guys have trouble?
Hard SPL on ignito
I managed to install the hard SPl onto my ignito, but have been unable to flash a new rom.
Think the pre-installed works well though, I just installed the original black theme as the blue o2 one is pants.
Radio upgrade has been fine.
Biggest recommendation I have is to install the VGA version of quick GPS. It REALLY made a difference to my satellite lock times from like 10 mins to about 10 secs
no problems with it works fine mine was on o2 software using latest dutty's now.
give it a go, loads faster now
