O2 XDA IIs speaker help - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Hi,
This is my first posting here so I hope it's in the right place etc.
I just received an O2 XDA IIs today, it appeard to be fine however I have a problem with the speaker.
I can play MP3's through the earphone socket absolutely fine, but not the speaker. This also affects the phone ringing. When I ring my phone from here there is no ring/volume.
I've checked the manual altered the profile to loud but I'm baffled and hope I havn't brought a faulty phone?
Appreciate any help Thanks

I am looking to purchase a replacement speaker as I am having the same problem. Any luck on your search???

It may be a bad connection or a software problem.
I remember one time I installed some wm6 software and lost all sounds on my BA, a hardreset fixed it.
If you got a bad connection or a bad speaker you basically need to disassemble your hole phone to get to it.

ebay is a graet place to start, as you can sometimes get lucky and find daed or alive ones, that have like cracked screens and such , which should mean they have good speakers.

XDA O2 speaker phone problem- please help!!

Hi all,
I bought my XDA O2 from South East Asia about 4 months ago. I love the phone from the start. However, recently the speaker phone stopped working. The last thing that I remember is that I tried to plug in a headset to test it. I didn't notice the problem with the speaker phone until the next day. I read some messages posted on the forum suggesting that I play a music and try to plug the headset and pull it out right away...I tried that and it didn't solve the problem. My phone still works fine except the "Speaker Phone". I can hear the sound when I plug in the headset. I also tried taking everything out and inspect the connection between the speaker to the board. Evereything seems to be connected nice and firm. What else can I do to get my speaker phone to work again? Do I need to upgrade the ROM? Getting this phone to be serviced by the shop that I purchased it from is impossible.
Any assistance is greatly apprecated!
Thanks,
Henry

Malfunctioning in-call audio!

Greetings fellow believers... I have a Dash that I've been working on for my brother. It was bought off of eBay and everything works on it but the in-call speaker. If you place the phone on speakerphone, you can hear the other caller speaking. However, if you place the phone on the normal mode you can't hear anyone talking to you. It's quite the annoyance, seeing as how everything else works except the in-call audio! It used to run the T-Mobile WM6.0 ROM but I changed it to the HTC 1.33 ROM in hopes of correcting the dilemma. No cigar. Then I flashed Kavana's WM6.1 080408 ROM on it and the speaker still won't work. Any suggestions?
P.S. The phone is no longer under warranty, so I can't get a replacement phone. (I checked)
Is there any way to repair the speaker? I've searched for how-to videos on YouTube to no avail.
There probably won't be a tutorial, best bet is to find the teardown instructions and swap the speaker out as this sounds like a hardware problem.
I have a dash that won't charge anymore so if you can't get this resolved I may be interested in picking it up IF it will hold charge and swapping speakers doesn't work for you.
Good luck!

Swapping the speaker sounds like a viable option. Where would I go to search for replacement speakers for a Dash/Excalibur??? I'm not aware of any sites with replacement parts. Heck, I don't even know if it's definitely the speaker that's causing the in-call audio to malfunction!
Speaker available
do a search on ebay for HTC Excalibur Speaker, i found one just now

Quick question: Do I have a bad speaker? Please help

OK, so, I got an sx66 off ebay for $19.50 (sorry to the gentleman I outbid).
Problem is, the speaker doesn't work quite right. I had a wallaby and seem to remember sounds being much louder than they are this sx66.
When I tried a test call to my wife, she could hear me, but I couldn't hear her, and when I did, it seemed like she was whispering and (it seemed like) my volume was down almost all the way (both volumes were turned all the way up).
I didn't try the headset with a call, but did try it with general use clicks and menues, and the headset sounded alright.
Bad speaker or bad chip?
TIA!
EDIT: Just tried the headset while on the phone with the wife; it sounded ok. I also plugged in the headset about 30x, just to make sure the little headset sense switch was not malfunctioning. It didn't effect anything.
HELP, please.
[SOLVED]
Got impatient and threw in a Razr speaker.
Problem solved for now, but I want a real speaker, or upgraded speaker. I already posted in market place, but if your reading this, do you know where to get one, or which speakers will fit, that's an upgrade?
TIA
In the photo's you can see an sx56 and sx66 speaker, and the earphone and speaker phone from a Razr. Also a closeup of the sx56 and 66 speakers (it would have helped me earlier to have found that)

Upgrades here I come.

Broken headphone jack. [SOLVED]

It seems like my headphone jack isn't sensing that my headphones are plugged in. I've tried 3 different headphones, 3 different roms all with a full wipe and tried jiggling the jack a bit. No avail... Hmm I hope it's not a hardware problem. =/
Edit: doing some research the headphone jack looks like it's part of the main board... I sure as hell hope this isn't a hardware issue or I'm screwed.
Looks like I was right about how the sensor on the headphone jack went but lucky me there is an app on Play Store that activates and deactivaes the headphones. Wired Headphone/Headset Fix is a widget that will reject or activate headphones if the sensor works or not.
I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve here?
Best thing is to talk first to HTC don't you think?
All parts of the phone are part of the mainboard.

I'm trying to achieve input. I searched and couldn't find anything similar to my problem. Also the screen, cameras, sensors, battery, speakers ect. Are not part of the main board. The headphone jack is connected to the main board unlike my iPod Touch 1G which it'd headphone isn't part of the mainboard.

This definitely sounds like a hardware issue to me. Haven't seen anything like this floating around xda... You should be covered by warranty even if you have unlocked as this couldn't be a software issue (which country are you in?). I'd take it back to the company you bought it from NOT HTC. It's up to them to sort the problem out as they sold you faulty goods. Good luck!

I'm in Canada and it was imported from Singapore from family. Sadly that family member lives in London and I have no clue where she bought it from. Well having no headphones isn't too bad for me because all my music is on my iPod and Tablet. The external speaker still works. My only guess would be flashing the jelly bean rom could have broken the headphones but that's very doubtful.

You could try and ask HTC where you stand but I'd imagine you would need to pay for it.

This is what HTC told me via e-mail about repairing an international phone in the U.S. Canada is handled through HTC’s U.S. support channels.
"Dear Barry,
I understand you have some questions about the Bootloader unlock tool and the warranty for your device. I know how important it is for you to receive correct information and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Unlocking the bootloader means that you now have the ability to customize software on your device. Barry, please note that changing your bootloader can cause significant issues with your device and once you have unlocked your device, you have agreed to the disclaimer that states a change in warranty status such that in the event you render your device unusable, you are responsible for the recovery of your device, whether by repair or by other means. The final decision about what is covered under the warranty (and the cost) is up to the repair technicians if you have your device repaired.
As for the warranty, your device does have Global Warranty so if you ever need your device repaired, we can do so here in the United States. Again, the final decision about what is covered under the warranty (and the cost) is up to the repair technicians if you have your device repaired.
To set up a repair ticket, you will need to speak to the HTC America Warranty & Repair Center. Their contact information is 1-888-617-1113 from 8 A.M. – 8 P.M. ET, 7 days a week. Barry, they will be able to answer any questions you have about the warranty and repair process.
I hope this was helpful and that I have answered all of your questions. If you ever have any questions, Barry, please do not hesitate to send us another email. We will be more than happy to answer any questions you have about your device. Thank you for taking the time to contact us and I hope you have a great week! "
Since every One X built is still under warranty they may not ask for proof of purchase. As for the jack failing, there are probably hundreds of points of failure in a mobile device. You seem to have drawn the short straw.
Thanks for the reply Barry! I will give HTC a call and hope they are generous. Sadly I do have a budget so if the cost is too much i guess I'm all out of luck. The headphone jack isnt much of a problem with me but fixing it would be a plus.

Even if you can't get it fixed for free/within your budget, not all hope of using external headphones are lost. Get a stereo Bluetooth A2DP headset or one of those BT stereo clips that allows plugging in your own headphones. They are more convenient than wired headsets anyway.
I've actually had mine fail the past couple of weeks too. I thought it was a ROM issue but it wasn't. Gonna try calling HTC too.
I too have had a similar issue and was going to post this. I recently dropped my HOX down the toilet. Managed to fish it out straight away and dry it off etc and it appeared that everything was working fine but then I came to use my headphones a day or two after and discovered the phone doesn't acknowledge any headphones being put in.
If you could keep us posted about how you get on that'd be great!

I meant in connection with the mainboard.

That happend to me a couple of days after my One X fell into water. I blow some air into the audio jack, sucked some air back with my mouth and then took some tissues and clean the inner parts of the audio jack. And after that 10-minutes care my audio-jack started working properly again for 2 months without a single issue so far. You can try what I did.
I love you OP! (no homo). I dropped my One V in some obscure place and, after drying it, buying a replacement battery, and changing the power button-volume circuit, I detected that the headphone jack didn't work! I was going to unsolder and solder a replacement, but it was just the sensor that went bust. That app saved me! Thank you!!
sorry for bringing this topic back up but I had this problem on my htc one and this app worked! seeems the sensor went out on my phone for the hadphone jack

Z5P 3.5 mm audio jack suddenly malfunctioned. HELP.

HELP. I was using my phone to listen to music via the free ear set when all of the sudden it stopped transmitting sound through the earbuds but instead went to go to loudspeaker. It is as if there is no ear set attached to the jack anymore. I thought my ear set was the one malfunctioning so I tried connecting my spare ear set but still yields the same problem. It is as if the jack became loose all of a sudden. I didn't recall dropping my phone or accidentally pulling the ear set wires while still attached to the jack that may perhaps damaged it. One thing I observed is that I can the make the music transmit to the ear set if I press the pin to the 3.5 mm jack really really hard but will immediately stop working again the moment I lift my finger thus going to loudspeaker again. Obviously, I cannot be doing the whole pressing thing everytime I want to listen to music cause its plain ridiculous just imagining that. The jack is literally rendered useless now. HELP !!! What should I do? Is this considered hardware problem already cause it seems like it? I just bought my unit December 1 last year so its considerably new. I already tried doing the SONY PC companion software repair just to be sure but still to no avail. Does anyone here experinced the same thing or is it just me.
HELP. As much as possible I dont want to leave my phone to service center as it takes them too long to repair it (2 weeks) and I have no spare phone to use.
THANKS in advance!!!
Send it to be repaired...

Same thing happened to my Z5P today... Read various forums and tried lots of "solved" issues but couldn't get it to work...
Will try and reset the phone after work today to see if it's a software issue, otherwise it will be sent to repaired...
Anyone else had the same problem?
Mine did that too, but i think it was only the headphones. Because it did work with other headphones and has been working fine
found a solution on sony forums..got mine working
Here what I did to get it working again:
Go to Settings > Apps > ALL > Smart Connect. and clear it's data.
Go to Play Store and install SoundAbout.
Open SoundAbout app and go to Media Audio and select your headset type in my case I selected [Wired Headset (with Mic)]
Plug-in your headset and the device should detect it now! wink
This is concerning to hear. Can anyone update to see if @wilger_18 's solution works?
this work around is annoying, You have to toggle ON OFF button if u want your phone to think if its going into loudspeaker or going into headseat more. Will wait for Marshmallow update if this will fix cause if its not then ill probably send it for repair.

Exactly same problem with my z5 premium , it works with soundabout but device doesn't detect the headset for itself, it is logical for a software issue and not hardware. Please let me know if u get a solution
Thanks a lot
Same issue here
Need to push the headphone very hard to make it be connected. I wonder if this is a hardware issue or just a software. Since I tried @wilger_18's workaround but it did not work on my end. I also reflashed the firmware with Flashtool and PCC but no luck...
Had this problem. For me it was hardware defect. Took it to my carrier shop. They confirmed the problem, took it to be serviced. One week later got my phone back. Replaced headphone jack and outer frame.
Works as should now. Hopefully it doesn't fail again. Disappointed that a $900+ device has a fault like this.

here didn't work out ... my headset (that came with the device) is not being recognized, I think i'll have to bring the assistance for a cleaning in connector.

Mine no longer works either. This is the first time a Sony phone I owned has malfunctioned and I started with W810. In US, with Taiwan device. Emailed Sony Taiwan to see if I can get it repaired. Of course, Sony US can't work on a foreign phone. Comical, they all have the same headphone jack.
UPDATE: Sony Taiwan doesn't offer international shipping for repairs so I have two options, fly to Taiwan or live with it. Looks like it will be the latter. Back in the box to collect dust.

I noticed that in his box z5p not appear headphones. This means they have disabled headjack to promote bluetooth headphones. So it's a software limitation.

Not all Z5P's came with headphones. Mine didn't so I alternate between my Sennheiser's and my Jays. The noise cancelling headphones I got with my Z2 are sound somewhere... and they work.
