WM5 HTC Voyager - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Is it possible to make a WM5 rom for HTC Voyager / O2 Xphone? HTC Voyager is still abundant here in the Philippines and others are wondering if it is capable to have a WM5 rom. Since no one here in the Philippines can make a rom, I brought it up here where there are lots of person who can make one.
Thanks

if it's possible, i hope someout out there wouldn't mind to make a rom....it would be greatly appreciated by filipinos

My guess - its too late. This model is not popular around here

I know this is a old thread. But..
Ive been looking around for a small smartphone that could be used to play my music and be used with my bluetooth headphones. Im using the blue angel at the moment and it works superb (except the ablity to use sdhc cards). But its just too big and im always worried if i crack the screen plus it looks pretty nerdy..
So i saw this phone.. Which is excazly what im after. (Which i might add is the only phone that has bluetooth and supports a sd cards).
But i see no one has made any upgrades for it?
Well ill just put it out there that if someone can make this phone to enable a2dp bluetooth profile and support sdhc sd cards (having windows mobile 5+ would be a bonus). Id have to say that this phone with an extended battery would be one of the best phones on the market today.
Ive just started doing a three year programming course at the moment. So if no one else is willing to program a rom. Then hopefully soon ill learn how to develop me own one

Using a phone as bluetooth headset for Jasjar?

Does anyone know if a phone, such as Nokia running Symbian OS, can be used as a bluetooth headset for the JJ ?
Perhaps a slightly mad idea But I have a spare 3650 and would prefer to pull it from my pocket to take/make a call than my larger and much more valuable JJ.
There is software around that allows some bluetooth phones to become handsets for Skype so perhaps such an app does exist somewhere ?
Interesting idea. You might want to pose that question to the Series 60 Symbian OS Smartphones forum at My-Symbian: http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=2

dopod 818/HTC prophet compatible with Tomtom 5 (5.2)?

Dear All,
In common with many of you (I'm sure), I am struggling with the choice between a Prophet and the Atom (or wait for the Hermes...?)
Pros:
camera (have seen great pictures from prophet)
wireless G
Quad band (not essential but nice to have)
Bluetooth 2
SD (currently 2 gig ultra, don't want to have to buy another one!)
Cons
No FM Radio
no flash (not fussed really)
Question over the Processor speed.
The big question, however, is whether either system will run TomTom 5 (or 5.2). This is the real go/no go app for me, and I would greatly appreciate anyone who has used either handset and can let me know whether they can run TomTom.
Many thanks in advance for your advice.

the three things missing in uni were
1)external screen
2)quad band gsm radio
3)more ram
the 7150 corrects this and is in my opinion a logical upgrade
I do not see the external buttons for the phone command on this imate???!!!
too boxy for my liking, and the universal can be upgraded

can you elaborate on that???
i am yet to see a uni. with more than 64mb ram, quad band gsm and an external screen
upgraded in the sense of software, there's xda-developers and a great team of unofficial developers
i don't think i'm gonna replace my universal but if had the $, i'd buy the 9150
true sucessor
IMHO there are only two phones that could truly replace the thc universal:
1.) Samsung G900
2.) HTC Omni
The Specs are damn juicy, they faster and smaller than the HTC Universal and they have WVGA (800x600)

1) its toshiba g900
wvga is 800x400
but in my limited experience with uni i can tell you that it is very hard to find software that supports vga...so you can imagine how bad the support for wvga would be...

wrong again, according to the spec wvga comes in the following flawors:
720 x 400 (18:10),
800 x 480 (15:9),
848 x 480 (<16:9),
852 x 480 (>16:9)
864 x 480 (18:5)
Anyway both the toshiba g900 (yeah, not samsung ) and the HTC Omni come with a wvga (800x480) screen.
I don't know what apps you need/use but all apps that I need do support vga/wvga (such as MS Mobile Office, Mobile Opera, Acrobat Reader, NewsGator Go, Total Commander Mobile, Live Messenger ...)
let the sh*tstorm begin
look, I aint a bigger knower of things... but quite frankly- as of this moment the 7150 looks like a prime case of vaporware.
take a look....
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=721
It was slated for a April launch... now it's June release...
No working models reviewed, 3 month after announcement...
Only pictures out are the same screen, with 11:13 inside and 13:36 on external
this gives me bad flashbacks of the Moto MPx (true collectors piece now )
opinions?
(please prove me wrong!!!)
toshiba g900 has a small screen (3") and 64mb ram. hardly a successor!
this looks interesting, although its probably huge and will cost insane amount of money.

Camera Video Size....

Hello,i bought my XDA Orbit nearly a month ago,and im very happy with it but there's a big bUT,and is the camera video size 176x144,before the orbit i had the MDA Vario(Qtek 9100)with the same problem...and before the 9100 i had the MDA Compact(S100) what record the videos in 640x480,I dont know why the manufacturers have done that.
My S100 doesn't workn and the 9100 it was quite big and i gave it to my bro...
I can believe i have 1 of the best PDA's on the market and the video mode is a....it can record on full screen with WM 5 and a PDA with 2003 can....
Someone can tell me why?i been told that's because is the for MMS and that's it...
tHAnkS!
mmmm
Talking abuout this again...will WM6 fix this on the XDA Orbit?
It seems to be a CPU limitation. The S100/S110 has a more powerfull CPU (400+ Mhz Intel), while the 9100 and P3300 both have a 200 Mhz TI CPU. I wondered the same btw and that's my personal conclusion On the other hand: How often do you record video with your PDA?
A lot with my mold Q100 and now with the Orbit none.... because that, and i phned HTC...and is what your are saying,CPU limitations...dammm it!lOLz anywaZ
Im use CoolCamera1.15 software, this work fine for me (usable to 640x480)
Cool camera doesn't help me at all.Can set it on 640X480, but video is really bad.just a captured fragments of what I ve shot.
What a shame

Some thing to clear about BlueAngel

I have planned to buy O2 XDA IIs from my frnd (2nd hand for sure)
Does it comes under the name, blueangel???
also please tell me pros and cons about this dmobile device
I already own O2 xda exec, typhoon and voyager
what about this one???
cud U, experienced users please guide me....am i gonna upgrade its rom to WM6 or not??
It's a great device, you won't make a mistake It has Intel PXA263 400mhz processor (This is the only thing i don't like in blueangel. It is not so fast. If you plan to play 3d games it is not very good for this. But you can easily overclock it with pocket master to 530mhz. With this frequency it handles everything without Snow Rally - there's a little lag and you can't play Playstation 1 games even if you overclock it to 590. I got 21-23fps in Tony Hawk Pro Skater with @530mhz and Frameskip - 2), 128 ram (This is great! With so much ram you don't need real close button. But there are no applications that wants more than 32 ram, so this is not a big advantage), Big screen and the best design for games(The screen is perfect. It wouldn't be bad if there was VGA screen but QVGA is not so bad either. In web browsing the qvga resolution is a big dissadvantage. You have to scrool a lot. But now there are browsers now that supports Zoom function. With it the browsing is good even on qvga device. When Opera 9.5 comes out it will rock And the design is great for games. It's like joystick when you handle it in landscape position and there are many buttons), 64mb Flash Storage(It's not much but you don't need more. There are SD Cards for that), SD/MMC expansion slot( The bad thing here is that it doesn't support SDHC, there are no drivers for that and there won't be in future ), CIF camera (It is really badd. The image quality is similar. If you try to record video it lags. I don't know why :/ It does it wven in the lowest quality), WiFi( No problems here), Bluetooth (No problems here either), IrDA( It can't be used as a remote controller because the irda range is around 3 meters)
And finally the PocketPC comes with WM2003. You can install WM6.1 but I recommend you to wait for explode's WM6.1. His roms are the best With the new windows the pocket becmoes really fast and stable. That's all, it's a great device

Nice choice. I recently picked up a hermes and while it is very nice, there are some things I miss from the Angel.

I don't quite understand this question. If you are asking if it was sold under the name of Blue Angel, no. Blue Angel is the HTC internal name for the phone. It was never sold by HTC directly, but to the various cell carriers who rebadged it with their own plastics and ROM/applications.

Pros:
Good CPU speed (the keiser runs at the same speed, 400 mhz)
The CPU has been around for a while, so 3rd party apps that are designed for the CPU work well.
Good physical size on the screen
Lots of storage and program memory when the extended ROM is resized/removed.
Cons:
Since it is an older platform, any MW version after 2003 is a hack. The drivers are generally ported from other phones and there are various bugs that will probably never be fixed due to a lack of hardware drivers. Everything does work, there are just various quirks.
Radio range (bluetooth, wifi, etc) are not the best. Heck, they often tend to be down right crappy.
Unless someone is able to write and release a SDHC driver for the card slot, it will never support SDHC cards, which will limit the phone to 4 gig cards. 2 gig is the official spec for SD, but there are a few 4 gig non-SDHC cards out there.

I would. MW6 is a huge improvement over 2003 and 5. The latest ROM builds out there work very well, if not 99% perfectly, and are fast.
In my opinion, Hemli releasing wm6 for the angel breathed new life into the device.
Really, I wish HTC would revive the device, make an updated version of it. The form factor, while is a bit big for a phone, is great for usability as a PDA.

I second that! Just ditched my Hermes for my old trusty Blue Angel, which blows the pants off it! I forgot how much I loved the 3.5 inch screen!
Rookie as well with the Blue Angel
I am getting started with the Blue angel as well (O2 Xda IIs)
I like it a lot this will probably become my best buddy during my travels
I got a couple of complementary questions about it.
I intend to use it for business purposes, mainly Internet through
Wifi and GPRS, pdf and offices documents.
I saw on this forum that you advise to change from WM 2003SE to Windows Mobile 6 (the last published by Microsoft)
-My question is: This PDA is already a bit old now, is it going to work smoothly wit the very last OS, which is designed for more recent PDAs (i.e which should be more efficient).
I mainly want to use it for Internet, wich browser do you recommend ?
Internet explorer? Opera Mobile? Opera Mini? other browser?
By the way what is the difference between Opera Mobile and Opera Mini
you should go with opera mobile, as it is better suited for pda's. opera mini is suited for java based mobile phones.

man i wish they would do that, or release a device with the same glorious screen but with contemporary features, all in all the blu angel is still a killer device 4 years on.
Absolutely right. I had been using the subj for 4 years in nearly extremal conditions, uprading and downgrading firmware dozen times. But, unfortunately it died as hero. Really great gadget, legend of HTC platform challenging ages.
Hi
Well with WM 6.1 it does everything I need and thats for sure I have my pick of devices and always come back to this one - and the 11i which is just about as good
I cant think of a time I have been upset with what it does or doesn't do. I intend keep one for as long as it will run....
