WM6 with BBConnect ? - P3300, MDA Compact III ROM Development

Is there any flavour of cooked WM6 for Artemis which supports BlackBerry Connect ?
I really want to upgrade but it never worked for me so far ? Anybody from our great cookers are thinking on this ?

Read in this thread..!
Cheers..!

Nothing of interest there.
The only WM6 ROM to proved work with BlackBerry is the O2 German which is not good at all.

If you look/search further - you will notice that RIM has somehow managed to place a lock on BB conet to work ith only certain combination of device, radio etc...many have tried and failed, some had luck on their side...i was one of the unlucky ones...
awaiting the official o2 rom on wm6 - hopefull will resolve the issue - till then fingers crossed!

O2 XDA IIs - is there an *official* ROM upgrade?

Wondering if there's an official rom upgrade?
Read a few scary stories about people ROM upgrading, so just wondered if there was an official upgrade which I *know* will work and not kill anything
Cheers
there is a 1.40 asian rom update, but as o2 in uk are crap, they havent released the upgrade yet.
they will only **** it up with that o2 active crap anyway, choose another 1.40rom, and folllow wiki, u cannot got wrong.
The latest one can be downloaded from the 02 website http://www.seeo2.com/ I just installed it and its working fine
think im being dumb, cant find it on seeo2.com
i know it must be in the o2 connect section somewhere...?
any pointers? cheers mate
Here is the link to the O2 Asia 1.40 ROM update.
http://www.seeo2.com/user/XdaIIs/template/XdaIIs_ROMUpgrade_Jun2005.vm
I think you will need to have a login and valid o2 Asia xda 11s device to access it. If you have an O2 UK xda 2s, you can still download and apply this update from here (our wiki site)
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_1.40.00_Upgrade
Hope this helps

Chris
Cheers Chris
Has anyone tried the wiki one with a uk xda 2s and can confirm its working a-ok?
Thanks again
Aslan
Hi Aslan
Yes, I have the O2 UK XDA2S and have loaded the Asia ROM (see details in my signature block] The only thing you may have to do after loading is to substitute the Caller ID cab file in the extended ROM. You only need to do this if you experience GPRS disconnects after upgrading, which is somewhat dependent on the operator/service provider you are with. Some work fine without the substitution. Who are you with?
Regards
chris
Cheers Chris - well I don't use GPRS so I'm alright I guess!
Although wondering if there's any way to do a backup which i can port over to the new ROM...too much stuff to reinstall!
Any ideas - sprite backup?
HI ASLAN
Backing up shouldn't be a problem... if you just have data you could use xback up or Sprite and back the data up to an sd card or your computer. Do you use Outlook, as that would be another way to do it via active synch. Let me know what you have to back up and I can better advise..

chris
Hi mate,
Got all the standard contacts/calendar etc which I can do by synching. But also got some progs on:
Pocket Informant
resco file explorer
tomtom navigator
and a few skyscape medical apps.
other bits too but don't really mind having to reinstall those the above are the main ones i use.
Do you know if sprite backup backs up installed programs too? Been havin' a read of this:
http://spritesoftware.crmdesk.com/answer.aspx?id=63&back=browse.aspx#p17
So 02 finally released their 1.40 rom. cool
anyone tried it yet? does it install the dreaded 02 crap as well?
Is there a corporate mode to this rom as well so we can get rid of the 02 software?
does it have everything that the 02 asia rom has to offer?

Hi aslan
I do not believe that Sprite will be able to reinstate your programs. I do not know for sure, but think it unlikely after a reflash.. You could send then an e-mail to the ask a question link on the page you found to be sure though..

Hi alitech
The ROM discussed above is in fact the O2 ASIA ROM 1.40.923. You can load this onto your O2 UK XDA2s using the MAUgrade utility found here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_1.40.00_Upgradeon the wiki site, along with the WWE ROMS that are available. The O2 Asia ROM does not have the O2 Active interface, so no need for Corporate mode  I guess that O2 UK will one day release its own 1.40 update for the xds 2s, which is rumoured to include a Blackberry client. Hopefully this will be before the xda2s makes it into the Science Musiem
Hope this helps

O2 UK - Most Bone Idle Organisation In UK!
Hi
I've been waiting for an official upgrade as well, but I think we will be waiting an eternity. O2 does not care about its customers one little bit - thats why we are all stuck with ancient, buggy roms while others enjoy the bug fixes in newer roms.
Many users, myself included dont have the time to fiddle around making foreign roms work.
I guess I shall have to bite the bullet and install the O2 asia rom, and prey the unit still works afterwards.
My contract ends next month, and after the 'O2 XDA IIs' episode I have had with O2, I shall never, ever pass any money their way again.
To be honest, I reckon you are far far better paying the extra money up front, buying an imate and choosing your contract yourself. They do tend to release updates in a timely mannar - which results in much less lost hair!!
The HTC universal looks nice, but there us *no way* I am gonna be paying that sort of cash for it!!
Nigel
Hi Veletron
Yes, I can't say I blame you. (and who came up with the idea to use light blue special character keys with a blue backlight I wonder?] I am actually thinking about switching to a !Qtek 9100, aka Wizard. They will be unlocked and available 5 Oct. Qtek have also been good with ROM updates I think.

WM5 Dailerskin on WM2003SE..?

Hi All,
Here's a quick question to all in the know!!
Can you use the WM5 Dailerskins on WM2003SE..? I feel that STD Dailerskin used on i-mate BAs a little boring..
Either that or anyone got any other suggestions..?
Many thanks for a Wonderful site - If only I knew more to share back into it!
Cheers,
no way man,
but i said it already in the posts a couple of times that it will not work.
wm5 has no dead button anymore in the dialerscreen. (big improvement of wm5)
settings are totaly different between the versions.
If you want to use them u need definitly wm5.
And soon hopefully we can skin much more....
Thanks Pimbo - I've upgraded a couple of times but have always downgraded again.. This has mainly been due to the compatability between Windows 2000 Professional at work (where the BA is most useful) and WM5..
Then there's the issue of Tomtom 5 and WM5 (Which wouldn't be a problem if I had a "proper" version!)
So - I throw this out to everyone.. Can anyone show me a decent WM2003SE dialerskin that is not the standard T-Mobile or as is my case now, i-mate!
Many thanks to you all!

Best ROM? 838Pro on Optus/Australia

Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone could please tell me which ROM is best for good battery life and excellent stability? I have been having problems with the shipped WM5 ROM and want to throw my Dopod in the ocean! Stability sucks, keys stop working, it's just awful.
I hope a good WM6 upgrade will fix my problems!! Please help.

If you're willing to try one, then try many. You'll get lots of opinions, but like anything - it's your own that will count.
Read through the rom threads and pick one. They're all pretty good - just depends on what you want it to include.
All the ROMS have their positive's and negative's. but if u just want to move to WM6 and things just work (eg, dont have to enter settings, etc..) then download the SEA dopod WM6 ROM. it has all the settings for Australian providers and after 2weeks of useage, ive had no major issues.
in short
if u want things to just work...... SEA dopod WM6 ROM
if u want a customized ROM (manual settings entry)..... pick any ROM
(overall the devices with WM6 are more stable and increase battery performance)
just try them all!!
Drooch
Thanks Matt, I have been trawling and trawling and can't really come up with an answer to my question that is why I was hoping that someone with some experience might be able to help.
Thanks,
adam.
Thanks, Drooch, I might just give that a go.

WM6 iPaq hx4700 Rom

Any chance of seeing a hacked rom of Windows Mobile 6.0 running on an ipaq hx4700?
Kozhura, the genius behind the success of WM5 AKU 3.5 on HX4700 said that he will be workin on WM6 after finishing the russian build of WM5. so just hang in there.
I also hope to see this for US units too, that would be great. It's too bad HP discontinued the best PDA they have ever made....
Anyone have any info if anyone has started "hacking" WM6 into a HX4700 ?
HP iPAQ Pocket PC Hx4700 ROM
Is WM6 upgrade worth it?
If so I am ready to pay a small donation for the same. I am sure there are other members ready to do so.
Good Luck.
I've got WM6 (chinese simplified localization) on my hx4700. Will post it on pxdxa.com soon.
Yes, there are some bugs, but at least It's a WM6 and it's working.
So ... I think you will get your ENG version ... Just wait
chamine,
mind you post some drooling screenshots
Show screens? Why not ...
Yes, XIP files was from Universal's wm6 (quite old though) and IMGFS from M$ emulator image (also not that latest).

I'm using WM6[MagLite Edition,A01] on my AXIM x50v.
It's faster than WM5(wm2003se-like performance). and WM6 supports SDHC(over 8GB SD cards).
of course, it has some problems. for example, some applications doesn't work on WM6.
Well, it's confirmed...kozhura is working on WM6 for the HX4700 and in a week or 2 we should see a beta. Yes !!!! After what he (and his partners in this) did with WM5 on the system, I can't wait to see what he does with WM6 !!!!!

Sorry, it's already there, but unless you are a chinese rom-master (for whom, if any, I posted it) - I will not recommend to use my version, because I will not update it any further and after some time will delete it from that forum.
But kozhura+qwerty surely will release a more better english version soon, qwerty's mod of aku3.5 was really good so I think wm6 will be even better.

This file I've put here (not for long) for a chinese ROM-masters (if any) to continue work on this ROM because I don't have much desire (and time) to hack MS roms further.

been there a while ago and as expected was not able to read any feedbacks about it, thx chamine for the efforts its a pity that you're discontinuing your project, goodluck on your next endeavour. Ill just wait for kozhura's WM6 rom to finish.
