I allmost allways use Phone Pad for text messaging and the Keyboard for Word documents. What I would like is to them assigned as default respectively, so that I don't have to change from one to the other everytime I open a different program. - Can it be done?

i believe wisbar advance 2 will help you to accomplish that. it has a feature that will change the SIP based on the title of the active program

Thanks for the answers. But there's still no solution to the problem: What I would like is to have the SIP change automaticly when I open a program. E.g. when I open any message program I want the Phone Pad; opening Note Pad the Transcriber, and Word the Keyboard.
I hope there's an ingenious programmer out there who can make, or has made, a small program that can do the job.

A very late reply: the requested functionality is impossible because several apps can be opened simultaneously and only one SIP can be 'active'.

How am I able to send SMS messages with a HTC P3300 without having to use the stylus?
I found T9 Phone Pad the most usefull SIP input device for sending sms messages, but by default, the normal keyboard is always shown. So I have to take out my stylus to change the SIP to PhonePad before I am able to enter an SMS message on the touchscreen.
Anybody some advice how I change the default SIP to PhonePad or an alternative for sending SMSes easily without the stylus?

I would stick to PhonePad too -- I like it very much.
The solution: you soluld use Sipchange, a tiny program that sets your default input method according to your preference. So even after a soft reset, you will have PhonePad as your keyboard if it is set in Siphange.
Search the forum, you will find it and it's free.

I've been using my Dash on the weekends at certain times instead of my tytn and I am desperately looking for an autotext or autocorrect applicaton. Basically, I do a tremendous amount of emails on my phone and this application allows me to type in three letters in an email like "mrq" and have it replaced with "meeting request" or "btw" and replace it with "by the way". I use Kai' autocorrect.net on my tytn and it lets me write emails so much faster.
the xt9 on the dash is an annoyance and does not perform the same function.
Qoolapps makes qcaps and qcorrect, but it only works on the motorola q.
Bumping this up to the top again. If anyone has any suggestions, please help. I really need this.

I have used Kai Autocorrect but recently it seems to have issues with some of the WM6 ROM's - can't pin it down so input on that would be great.
But also if there are any other options - it amazes me this is such a simple yet killer app for the BB .... example type bb = Blackberry .. type wm = WindowsMobile.... thxm = Thanks Much!
Not using mouse stylus and all that jazz just on the fly word conversion and completion with a self defined library of words. AutoCorrect again does most but has not been updated in a long time.

XT9 (DB edit) or Autocorrect alternative.....
Correct -
The issue is the WM6 Smartphone version and PPC versions differ in how they do Autocorrect - which for many is brutal pain..... the PPC version has in /windows a hidden file called autocorrect.0409.txt which can be manipulated to add/delete words from your dictionary and you can control it.
The Smartphone/WM6 since it uses ughhhl XT9 yada it uses a different DB which is apparently tough to edit - manipulate - to anything with.
As much as I wish the Smartphone worked like the PPC, I think I am hoping for a prayer here that won't happen - so I see only 2 options that would get us close to that:
1 - Some way to get control to add/edit change this XT9 DB
2 - An add-in app (which I have asked a Dev to look at but says its rough) to run resident and give us the same as what exists on the PPC/WM6 on the smartphone.
The sad part is all in all I could see the SmartPhone needing this even MORE since it's keyboards are usually smaller any anything to minimize keystrokes is key.
This is so sad --- Anyone that can help I would be so grateful. Even if there is some way to port some of the WM6/PPC ROM components over would be VERY NICE!!!

I would like to share with You my little app, that I wrote to make using HTC easier and more comfortable. With this app You can assign finger friendly keybord when stylu is In, and small keyboard for stylus when it is out. Unfortunately it works only on devices with stylus sensor like HD, Diamond, Touch Pro, SE X1 (I hope it works, I've tested with BlackStone only). If you have some suggestions, ideas or if You run this app on other devices please let me know.

I've attached some screens. During system start, application is checking screen oreintation and stylus state and then deciding which keyboard should be used.

I tried the Cab file above, it really works, meaning it will change the Imput method according to stilus in or out.
But if I closed the phone or make a soft reset, the first time I want to write a message the imput method is still the standard one
You must setup program to start service with Windows.

Yes I did select it but as I mentionned, after a reset or turning the mobile off, the first message I will write will open with the standard keyboard... I then move stilus in and out and it starts to work correctly until the next reset or turn off
So strange, because program is started. Maybe You are using keyboard which is loaded leter. Uncheck 'run at start' and add shortcut to autostart. After this program should start after all proceses and services.

Hi Nitro, is it possible to launch an application when you take out the stylus? I would love to have Phatpad opened when I do so, to take a quick note.
I won't mind closing it the one time I pull out the stylus in another app.

Some cook ROM don't have the input setting since they remove it.

Delete the Redirect key under the registry [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Input]
same thing happened to me a week ago, took me 4 days, until I delete the Redirect key as mentioned above, and I got back my INPUT in SETTING!!

Yea thats Microsoft hard at work. They are removing the Owner name, Input controls, and another one...
Even the owner name kills most applications since they base their software keys off of the owner name.

As you solved the Input problem for WM6.5 (Thanks a lot for that), maybe you have an idea why I don't see java icon under programs in WM6.1. When I try to install a java application, Esmertec appears (it seems java program is hidden somwhere) but java midlet is found somehow harmful or something and I get two option "Kill the midlet-or-NO". And my java applications cannot be installed successfully. I cannot install any other java program externally either. Any idea to solve the problem?

I already removed the "redirect" on HKEYLOCAL~/Control~/Input

Did anybody found a way to get rid of the smilie face on the sip? I hate it when typing an email for example since the spacebar gets really small when also having a multiple language keyboard. The smilie face is something nice for chat maybe but useless for emails. So is there a way to change the email SIP, probably in the registry to a SIP with the same functionality but without this smilie face?

this should be working, indeed. But unfortunately the registry editor just crashes up on modifying. Is there a way to make this into (reversible) .xap for samsung devices? I know these things exsist which modify the registry, but I have not found an open source one yet which I can modify to do this registry edit.

When I tried to write an e-mail address or a user name of the outlook / exchange configuration the space key is not available (instead of writing a space just move the position of the cursor). I do not know if just for this kinds of fields WM7 use another layout of the keyboard as the ',' is also not available. This is a problem because I need to write a space in my exchange user name as it has the format 'name surname'.
Do you think that it is possible to change the layout of this keyboard or do you build one which force the use of the spaces?

Hi Kata. It does not seem to be a layout related issue. The space button is available in that mode. But the input field does not accept spaces.
As I know, user name cannot contain spaces. Maybe you are trying to enter your display name (Name Surname), not the system login. Try to enter your email address without @server part.

Thanks for your answer, the user name has a space and I used with a lot of phones and PDA (windows mobile 5 ,6, 6.5; Android or Symbian) without problems, also the resto of my colleagues at my organization (for everybody user name has two words name and surname)

cool thanks, took me a while to respond had exams.. do you have the source, than I can modifie it myself with the languages I use.
I think I have to flash a new rom anyway for my omnia since the push things are bugging me like crazy. I hope this will help and than I have to redo all the things again.

You can extract the xap and modify xml files.
