MIDI as ringtones - how?!

I can select MIDIs as a ringtone, however when I play it back (in the phone preferences or when someone calls) it sound like this
"beep-beep-beep".
It does this with ANY midi I select.
How can I use midis as ringtones?

Don't bother with Midi's why would you want rubbish Nokia sounding tones? You can use WMA files for ringtones on Blue Angel

you can surely go for wma....thats the best..but for some reason if you want midi and your getting beep beep then the possible reason could be that the .midi extension is associated to some other application, thats what happened to me when i gave .wma access rights to pocket player and my cell would ring it would go beep beep as soon as i removed .wma rights from pocket player rings were back .....

Same happened to me too! I was really confused about this

dumb question, but how do I find out what app has rights for the MIDI extension?
There are some midis that I have had on phones before so I want to keep 'em for continuity sake --
any idea how to use AMRs as rigntones without the need to convert them ?
anyway back to the problem at hand: to make the midi ring
1) find the file association
2) remove it (how?)
3) try the ringtone to see if it works.

try to copy the .midi direct to the rings folder in \windows\rings and then see and yeah if someone could temme as well how to use .amr as ringtone ??
and secondly is there a software to convert .midi to .wma ?

what......?? be specific which one of the probs are you having ?

you need to find a .mid file and upload it to the device, then just the add ringtone under Settings -=> System. I use them all the time. As a matter of fact I will attach one to this post...

did you add it using the ringtone applet? (meaning check the box in front of it) then you need to go the the phone applet and pick it from the list and assign it as the ringer, if you have other apps like the Caller ID or many of the profile management systems they may override it, so you will have to check them also.
Lastly if you go to the file in pocketexplorer and tap on it, does it play?

Only work .wav as ring... And .wma, but as COPY to Ring folder, i can add in Add Ring Tone (only .wav)...

ringtone midi problem
I have the same problem.. beep-beep-beep, so i did hardreset, and on fresh windows mobile put some midi in ringtone directory. Everything ok, 1 minute after that i played the midi with Album program, and after that, beep problem again. Everything is freshly installed, so i think album file association with midi makes the midi files not useful for ringtones. I am looking for program that will assign diferent ringtones to different people, so i think this will solve the problem..

EXTENDED ROM

I try to unhide my EXTENDED ROM and DEL ol of file inside ... but when I make Hard reset why... the extended ROM file is still there ??? and they install it self...
my question is how to DEL pemanently ....
i like to install that file manualy.. so.. I can Custom install ...

What I do is Unlock the Ext ROM using Buzz app, then use Total Commander to cut and paste it to my SD card. After a hard reset, I now have a blank Ext ROM.

hi guys
i have unlocked the extended rom with the tool from buz, but if i want delete some files wicht are in the /windows folder (for example: 15fps-nature-mpg) ist a testmovie from t-mobile. i get an error message with resco, total commander and other filemanagers. The message says: "files in the can not deleted"
if i change the properties of the files and uncheck ROM and press ok. After testing it, the ROM is checked again.
i search the forum but i found no solution for this problem. can anyone help me?

you can't delete files in the /windows folder because these files are in ROM. You are able to "overwrite" the files with other files e.g. the bitmaps of the phone skin, but if you delete your own files the original files will reappear!
for the first question:
you have to do two things, first make the extended rom visible, then do the unlock.
a all in one solution is the attached cab file! All you have to do after installation is start the unlocker tool under programs.

my extended rom is visible and i can delete the cab files in this "folder" how can i unlock it?
if i try to overwrite a file in the /windows folder i get an error which says the file is write protected. but i cant uncheck the write protect option.
i testet it with the 1-nature_15fps.mp4 file in the winodws folder.
i cant install the attached file from you.

In my mda-pro I use only Unhide_UNI_Extended_ROM,soft reset and ext rom is visible with all explorers.
I replace some original cabs with my cabs(resco,tcpmp,tomtom),but when I hard reset the device,original cabs start,my only manually.
Is there a trick to make my cabs work automatically like original after hard reset?

so far I know its imposible original extended rom without config.txt file.
maybe you already delete by Accident.... please check again or flash it again the extended rom

Before it starts,the device ask me which file I choose betwin tcpmp and resco to customize it,i press cancell:then auoconf start,install all(my cab too)but after soft reset my program arent installed,why?Maybe because my cab need autorization to be installed?

i have tried total commander and over active sync but i get always error messegaes. TC can't overwrite files, the error message says the file is in rom and can not be overwrite.

the all you have to do are copy and run 2 files then soft reset. connect your uni to pc, use Explore on PC to view and edit your Ext ROM (add or del file .CAB, .EXE, edit config.txt

You have to dump the rom or copy from device the file you whant
also you have to chek the registry for any info about the file you whant....
After that or you make a cab or just transfer the file in the device and if it was add and the registry...

I have a Dopod D810 and i upgraded the firware but now cannot use any feature as i need the three add ons.
Does anyone know how to extract these from older roms or anything.

Maybe you can try...
Go to http://www.dopodasia.com/Dopod_Aus/member/login.aspx
login or register if you're not already registered. Click "Download System Update" and download "D810 ROM code for Hutchison 3 network". Re-install that rom and you get your 3 stuff back.
This is a non-GPS rom though so if you've updated your rom to activate GPS then you will lose that when you install this rom. I don't know how you can activate GPS and keep the official rom installed at the same time.
No guarantees, just throwing ideas

APPARENTLY IT WILL BE RELEASED this week the oficial dopod Australia WM6 ROM.
Is it easy to make a cab file with the three settings so we can continually update roms etc and easily get our settings back?
Is anyone able to point me in the right direction of how to do this?

The Three applications and settings are stored on your devices extended rom - see this post for an extended rom unlocker http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=283750 Easiest way to preserve them is to copy them to your storage card and then reinstall them after you have applied the new rom update. Note that you will need to reapply them after every hard reset. I apply them in the order listed in config.txt which is found in the extended ROM partition.

3 MMS/Internet/Email Settings (aca Planet 3)
Hi gang, I too have upgraded my 3 Dopod D810, and after I performed the upgrade I realised that in all my excited state, I forgot the write down the 3 setting beforehand, D'[email protected]#[email protected][email protected]
So after having the same problem with the 3 MMS / Internet & Email (aca Planet 3 setting), I decided to go for a google to see if I could find some answers ...?
I have come across this forum which helped me re-configure the settings back to the originals from 3, and now everything planet 3 related works again.

Does anyone get their voicemail messages via email?
Has anyone had a problem with the name of the voicemail message attachment being something like "LogicaCMG Voicemail Message (1.1) (xx secs)" which then prevents them from directly playing the attachment (which is really just a wav file)?
Has anyone found a way to get around this, apart from doing a "Save As"?

Just wanted to bump this as this is the most annoying thing that I have found since switching from a nokia to WM6 device (O2 XDA Zinc). I assume it is to do with the way that the mobile identifies itself to the server as I find that webmail shows the attachment as "message.wav" but if I go to webmail after the phone has downloaded the message, the file is attachment.dat.

How to enable Asus P535 WM6 EXTROM?

We know the way to enable P535's EXTROM in WM5 is setting mounthidden=0.
but it's not effective in WM6, I mean the WM6 is you upgraded by autorun.exe and asusp535.cap. not reflashed by Nb0 file. yes, the EXTROM can be enabled in the NB0 reflashed WM6, but nothing in it.
we also know all EXTROM files are embeded in the autorun.exe and easy to be extracted. but it restricted in the only 4 available ROMs listed in ASUS support site.
I have a 76A version P535, it preinstalled WM6 HK02 CHS, there is no corresponding autorun.exe to extract. the only way is enable the EXTROM and get the files inside.
so, anyone can help me enable the EXTROM?

as I said in the first line in my post. this registry key only effects with WM5 or nb0 reflashed WM6. not effects the WM6 upgraded by autorun.exe and asusp535.cap.

when i do the registry modification, i see a new folder but empty.
but i have a question : There are 3 registry foler with the same name
TRUEFFS_DOC . TRUEFFS_DOC1 . TRUEFFS_DOC2
what do the first one TRUEFFS_DOC? because this one is hiden to.
