Cases - Touch GSM Accessories

I know it's early days so far, but has anyone had any luck finding a really, really good case for this device?
I am now getting quite jealous of the iPhone accessories. Everywhere you look, pda case companies are offering wonderful, bright innovative cases for iPhone, not so The Touch.
In fact, most of the cases I have seen (Noreve, Piel Frama) seem to have a strip of leather covering the logo just above the d-pad, which would impede the Touchflo swipe.
The only one which doesn't seems to be the Proporta, which uses a 'C-Clip' mechanism. However, that looks like the actual clips themselves might damage/scratch the casing. And you can have any colour you like as long as it's black.
Emailed Vaja, and they have no plans for a Touch case. Sena say theirs is in development.
A lot of the cases already on the market seem to ignore the fact that this phone is popular because it is slim, light and small. Nobody wants to add a case that makes it larger and heavier.
Basically I would be happy with a case like the one supplied, but in leather, and preferably a bright colour (helps to find it in a large handbag!).

This is one I'm considering getting

How much bulk would that add to the touch? I have just put my athena on "hold" but it looks like this would be bulking up again?

If you want a black less bulky case then this one looks OK
http://www.boxwave.com/products/dlcase/htc-touch-designio-leather-case_2727.htm

Does anyone know if any of these cases will also take a credit card or two or do they only have sd-card slots?
Cheers!

Anyone got one of these yet ?

any comments, good or bad ?

I got this one. You can find it on other sites.
http://www.pdashop.nl/product/43139/42781/3338/noreve-tradition-leather-case-htc-touch.html
It is the Noreve tradition leather case Credit card slot included, and no fidgety clips to deal with. Just magnetic catch. Has detachable swivel belt clip.

Krusell Cases
Have a look a this one....http://www.krusell.se/product.php?productID=2730&category=51
I have been personally using Krusell cases for over 4 years now and am a great admirer of their quality.I blv they are the only manufacturers to offer a lifetime warranty on their cases.....check it out....

Both the Noreve and the Krusell, and the Piel Frama all seem to have a leather strip covering the HTC logo where Touchflo begins, would that get in the way, and also, the leather 'frame' of the screen, does that impede the fingers only needed aspect of particularly the top two corners?

Noreve really gets in the way of touchflow. I mainly use the case when am out shopping or other outdoor activity so not much of an issue for me. It is either in the pouch and/or in my shirt pocket naked

What's really, really, really annoying is the cases that are being made for the iPhone.
they are vibrant, colourful, young, exciting, different:
http://www.vajacases.com/home/home_en.html

http://www.pielframa.com/cases_iphone.htm
What do we get? Black, more black, maybe brown, and a series of cases made by people who have obviously never used a Touch with the Touchflo function, they think it's just another PDA. They haven't noticed the flush screen. They put strips of leather right over the place where Touchflo starts. They put a frame round the screen, so that the edges of the flush screen become unuseable.
They don't seem to realise that this phone is going to appeal to a new set of customers, who may not all be male business types. Rant, rant, rant.
sorry about that, rant finished now and feel much better for it.

I got the vertical flip one and really didnt like it.
First it made the Touch "more big" than i could imagine.
Second, the screen border got "framed" by the case leather and it was more difficult to activate some outter items on the screen.
I think these problems are not particular to the Brando case. Every leather case will have them.
So im thinking in order something like these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/CP-FULL-BODY-SC...ameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting
{}s
CreativeBR

for instance i am planning to buy some Ipod socks for my Touch. Of course, if it fits (i think it should fit)

This phone is new to India and not many options are available. I bought this MOBO case with belt clip that fits the Touch perfectly. Features rotating belt clip and magnetic closure. Made of PU/PVC synthetic leather with soft felt covering the bottom front flap. Local price is Rs. 205 (approximately 5.05 USD)

Hi there, I sense your frustration, but the pielframa page shows many different colours available. Sure, there may be problems with Touchflo, but you can't blame them for the colours! Vaja doesn't even seem to have a case for the Touch.

the only real 'colours' they are doing are primary blue, red and green. I'm not counting black and brown as colours. They make their own iphone case in turquoise, hot pink and lime green.
Nevertheless I would buy one of these if I didn't think that the use of the device would be largely compromised by the case.
I emailed Vaja, thinking that maybe a case was 'in the pipeline' but no, their reply stated that they had no intention of producing a case for the Touch.
They didn't even suggest that any of their universal cases might be a good fit either. Looking through them, I couldn't see one that would fit properly.
I'm holding out to see what Sena come up with. When I emailed them, they said theirs was still in development. As it was at that stage, I replied pointing out the problems with existing cases, so maybe theirs will be different. Just have to wait and see.
It's just a bit annoying that it appears that if something is produced by HTC it is perceived as 'business-like, boring, safe etc', but a device produced by Apple is perceived as 'trendy, hip, vibrant, exciting' and the cases are a reflection of this. I suppose it's partly down to the manufacturers themselves and the build up they give.

No problem, glad you feel better now! I bought a case with the Touch on the weekend, but I don't like it. I will take it back and see if I can get a black (yeah, boring) silicon case in exchange.
Cheers,
Simon....

Please let us know how you get on with the silicon case, I've heard they used to pick up a lot of dust etc, but look good otherwise.
Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against black cases. I would think it very weird if my husband suddenly acquired a hot pink carry case for his laptop/phone! I would just like the choice. Also, I'd like case manufacturers to get real users to 'test drive' some of these cases before they are launched.

Hi Marisa,
I'm using the silicon case and am generally pretty happy with it. I like the fact that the camera surround, screen and d-pad are recessed by a few mm, now when I place the device on a flat surface there's no risk of contact scratching.
It also gives it a ruggerdized look, perfect for me as I'm not really into hot pink either...!

answering my own question (that could be a bad sign?), I bought one of these and am completely satisfied. Excellent
quality, good solid protective front and back, nice snug fit but easy to get out, magnet closure and effective secure belt clip. The sides allow the head set connection to be attached with the phone still in the case. I am happy with it

[Q] Fortte Cases, anyone get one?

http://www.fortte.com/scr/showcategory3.php/407
Curious if anyone has purchased any of these, particularly the Book Model. I'm thinking of purchasing one...
wow, you would really put your phone in that little fanny pack book bag?
Please don't...please
Im not sure why people who dont own (or apparently like) this holder are posting in this thread. He specifically asked for people who have bought it to chime in, not for snide remarks about it's fashionability. Cmon, guys. We can do better than that around here.
Wow, I'm really surprised you guys are dissing on this. This is pretty much exactly what I was looking for. I still may buy an otterbox, but what's wrong with these? I dropped my Captivate in DC and shattered the screen. Just got it back from Samsung and am all about protecting it. This seems like really good protection for dropping while most wrap-around cases don't even advertise as protecting from drops.
These cases look pretty sharp and will obviously protect from a drop. I've currently got a body glove that my phone slides into, I can't for the life of me find a pic of it online oddly, but it's sortof like these full close systems but it has a window. It's actually not bad at all but it's just slightly too short. The top left and right ends of the phone are unprotected so I have to find a better alternative.
Those of you that don't like these options, what is it that you don't like? They're essentially pda flip cases aren't they?

This is why I don't like it. How many years has it been since we carried Handspring PDAs? Things like PDA filp cases are really antiquated in my opinion, and having a case like that to carry your cell phone in just looks funny. Everyone has moved to silicon/TPU cell phone skins that are minimally intrusive, and these cases are the opposite.

But... isn't this essentially a pda? It's a mini-tablet/bar-smartphone. I don't get how it's antiqued at all. Who cares how it looks to other people? Obviously you're welcome to your opinion and I'm entirely curious as to why you think it looks funny.
The more modern skins don't look or even advertise as protecting against drops. So I'm curious if you at least think this will protect against that.

Considering most TPU/silicone cases look like they came out of Hot Topic, leather cases don't look like a bad idea sometimes.
Also, the open-face style leather cases like this ( http://www.fortte.com/scr/showproduct.php/1411?type=0 ) aren't any more intrusive than a silicone/TPU case. In fact, it's just as soft yet far more secure than a silicone case (and cushions more than a TPU case).
I was actually looking at something similar from PDair:
http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_10000000_11001013&products_id=31136
http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_10000000_11001013&products_id=31138
It's a little cheaper and personally I think it looks a little better and a little higher quality. I could be wrong. Plus it holds credit/business cards.
looking at the open face* what are we in the 1990s? This looks like the case for the old motorola L7's lol
The vertical pouch looks decent enough. If it has a belt clip it would be pretty useful.
The other ones look like utter crap.
Have you seen these? They make phone calls and "fit" in your pocket!

But seriously, we are trying to keep you from looking like a douchebag with your flip open folio-style leather phone case.
Just ordered the Thin Pocket case. My plan is to pocket the phone in the case - we'll see how it goes.
I'll write a short review when I receive it, but that won't be for 3-4 weeks since I ordered a customization.

Ironic you should mention old things not comfortably fitting considering that most suggests for cases here don't comfortably fit in my pocket, including all Otterboxes, which look and feel like you're carrying an 80's era device due to its ridiculous mass, (not unlike the phone in your picture).
I went with a Seidio TPU case, and I just look SO STYLISH AND MODERN with opaque argyle, it totally doesn't look like an accessory to guys who wear cardigans from the metrosexual craze a decade ago.
The guy asked for advice on the case, not fashion tips from people who think cases that look like a Hot Topic accessory are fashionable.
I can not comment on a Book type case specifically, but I have used Vertical Pouch for my Touch Pro 2 and I can comment on quality of Fortte cases - they are very well made, look very good, fit very nicely, and I have gotten a few compliments on that case. I had the one with no clip (flat back). Their quality is comparable to Piel Frama or Sena but the cost is less.

I don't ever recall recommending any case, much less an argyle case, or a case that looks like a "Hot Topic accessory"...
But, never the less...
I just got my fortte vertical pouch in the mail today.
I have to say, its well made. The inside lining has a built in pad that cushions the touch screen (see pic below). The size is roughly double the thickness of the phone itself.
It's a little big in my pant pocket, but I like to wear fitted jeans and dress pants for work. My custom case doesn't have a clip as I like to keep things in my pocket.
The phone still moves in the pouch a bit, but the upper flap keeps it secure.
With my captivate in the pouch, I felt safe enough to drop it from about 5 feet off the ground onto the office carpeted floor.
Phone survived!
My case is buck brown, with the gold crest.
It seems I can't post images since I'm a new member... I'll try again from home in 6 hours.
Uploaded pics, sorry for the quality, lol used the captivate camera.. i forgot to balance the settings.

Atrix TPU Case Received, pics inside

Hey everyone, I received my TPU case from EBay (item 290530353216) today, here are some comments and pics. The fit is only OK - the cutout for the USB/HDMI ports is a little off, and there is a little bit of an edge around the power button that impedes fingerprint swipability a little. I will say too that I didn't expect it to have the goofy pattern - what is it with TPU cases and argyle patterns?? Also, as you've noticed it is somewhat translucent.
I give it a 3/5. $7 shipped in the US. I'll keep it until another inexpensive case rolls around that is higher quality.
And just in case anyone wonders, on my screen are the Pandora Widget, Android Agenda Widget, and some apps. I am running ADW Launcher (free). Also, I know I left my back panel sticker on there, and that was on purpose.

Yeah seriously with the frikin argyle ****! Its like they made a billion sheets of the argyle TPU and they just like heat mold them to phones (not like thats how they're made). This will be my third phone encased in argyle TPU. Other two were the dark one like yours, this time I got sick of trying to hide the argyle and people asking about the stupid pattern. I got clear so, "yes its frikin argyle! got a problem!?"
Waiting for the Realook screen protectors to be cut. no idea why it takes them so long to cut the right size. Realooks are by far the best screens...
Everything is temporary at this point...I'll buy nicer stuff once my 30 days are up.
I was fortunate enough to have a solid black non-patterned TPU case for my EVO that someone on this forum actually commissioned and was selling out of their garage essentially.
Check out tpu-cases.com. I bought an all black one there, shipped same day. Quality is nice, it's glossy, feels good in the hand for an 8$ case.
the 1.99 one I got from ebay is decent
Nice, never seen that site before. I'll order one up and hopefully it'll get here by the time I'm home from travel. Wish someone would make one like I had for my Evo though - it was matte on the back and shiny on the front.

Well I tried the Speck (or whatever it's called) case from AT&T and hated it...looked and felt like a toy.
Then I tried the Otterbox Impact (the smallest case they make). It's made of a type of rubber that sucks up all dust and won't let it go. It's pure black rubber but after putting it in my pocket and driving up to Starbucks to meet some friends...it looked gray. My pockets don't have any lint or anything in them...and yet the case now looks completely gray. I just put it on yesterday. It's also a bit big for my tastes...and the phone can easily come out of the bottom.
I'm going to try the cheapest cases on eBay. They always worked great for my Nexus 1 and most other phones I've used. The cheap thin rubber is fantastic for me. The phone's so freaking sexy...I just don't want to add a bunch of mass to it.

i like the feather as well. not much in terms of impact protection, but most of my scratches come from the phone vibrating on the desk over time and scuffing the battery door, so its a nice line of defense against that. also, its a little less slippery than the standard battery door which i like

I particular like the argyle tpu cases which give decent protection and feel. i have it for the ipad, galaxy tab, atrix, inspire, and xoom.

I ordered my case from http://www.degasis.net/models/atrix.html (as the poster above recommended. $6.98 shipped
This is the best fitting TPU case I've had across all my devices. The best part is that it actually makes the on/off button easier to push and the finger scanner easier to operate (its cut at the perfect angle to compliment it). Its slightly different cut but a better fit than the pictures posted above.
I'll post pictures when I come across another camera some time today or tomorrow.
TPU is far superior to any other case material in my book. perfect balance of grip/non-stick, thinness, protection, and fit.

Just emailed them to let me know when they are available. I have the otterbox defender and while I usually recommend them, the one for the atrix has issues. I'm on my second outer silicone part, and this one doesn't fit right either. The bottom corners bulge away from the inner plastic part, which makes them come off pretty easy.

The cases happen to be made right here in Fort Lauderdale on the other side of town. I may go get one on Monday. I have the Commuter case which I like, especially since the ports and earphone jack have covers to keep out dust and dirt and the case is easy to get on and off. I dunno if the ballistic has covers and there are no pictures of the front i can find but the design and colors look nice and I am sure the protection is good. Anyone get one yet?
Damn that thing looks thicker then my otterbox defender case. I like the color schemes though. Does it come with a holster? I have to use the holster with my defender case, just to hard putting it in my pocket.

Let us know if you get one. I definitely want one! Black on black is my choice, but the red/black looks pretty cool too.
Awesome!
Got my Ballistic SG
Well I recieved my Ballistic SG in the mail today, got it off ebay for $22 bucks! I haven't bought a lot of cases for my Atrix yet, I tried a Otterbox Impact on launch day and was disappointed with that. This case however feels extremely tough, My brother has the Otterbox Commuter, which i thought was awesome untill this one showed up. It feels very solid, The ports on the side are left exposed, as well as the speaker grill. The space for the fingerprint sensor does feel a slight bit cramped when swiping downwards, I may have to re-enter my prints to get it to read more accurately, but for now it doesn't seem to affect it too much. I've only had it for about 30 minutes but so far i'm impressed. The case doesn't slide around on the phone (though that may be in part to my invisible shield). The rubber/silicone layer does attract dust, but overall I'm happy with my purchase. I attached a few pictures if anyone's interested.

Not a bad looking case ya got there... is it rubber or plastic or both?
Edit: so the grey is rubber, red is plastic?
Sent from my Motorola Atrix 4G on the network with the most backhaul, whatever that is. This post might have errors as I hate touchscreen keyboards.
Yeah, the black part is rubber, the red is plastic, with a weird layer of black, that feels like slightly rubberized plastic. After using it for a few hours now I'm still satisfied with it. Definitely feels more solid than my brothers commuter case. Now to wait for the HC to be released and try that sucker out.
Dude, that's freaking sweet looking. Can't wait for the HC cases to be released.

Can you please drop your phone from the second or third floor while it's in the case and if nothing happens can you drop it without a case? I just want to check how though is the case before investing in it.

epic !
I like it! May replace my Commuter, even though I couldnt be happier with the OB.
covered ports
I did not buy this case (yet). It looks really similar to the Commuter case as the designs are the same///a soft rubber held on with a hard plastic. However, the ports are not covered on this one. On the commuter both ports are covered in addition to the earphone jack. Someone here reported dust on the inside of the screen and it may have entered thru the earphone jack? On my wish list is a case with a built in stand.

ROCK "Big City" Flip Case Review

As soon as I saw the OEM flip case from Samsung I knew it would be one of the first accessories for my new S3. Unfortunately after having read reviews of the case's questionable construction, coupled with the fact that I wasn't a huge fan of the integrated battery door, I figured I'd shop around for an alternative.
Thankfully that alternative came in the form of ROCK's Big City Flip case. With their "Quicksand" case has been a big hit amongst XDA'rs, I figured it was a no-brainer.

PROS:
*Texture is PHENOMENAL ! - The pictures really don't do it justice. ROCK claims the material is "Italian imported PU", (I suspect it's like a "Pleather", plastic-like leather) but whatever it is, it provides a great deal of grip but remains extremely soft to touch. An added bonus is the fact that the "dark blue" variant matches PERFECTLY with the S3 Pebble Blue version.
*Design is simple, elegant, and creative - Reverting back once more to the texture, I've never seen anything quite like it. It's almost reminiscent of a cascading waterfall. The inside is completely lined with a micro-fiber/felt-like material that ensures both the front and back of the device will remain scuff free. Not to mention the "cradle" for the actual phone hugs it in all the right places, ensuring it won't escape the case's clenches All ports, camera, light, and speaker portions are precisely cut and accessible, EXCEPT the volume rocker (at least when the case is closed); thankfully however the material on the spine of the case is soft to the touch, thus allowing you to press the volume rocker with ease.
*Reasonably priced - Similar cases run $25+, and given the reputation of ROCK and the quality of the case, I'd say it's nothing short of a great buy. Not to mention it comes with a screen protector and decorative lanyard. I managed to pick mine up via eBay for $16.88 shipped (note: I have yet to come across a seller not based out of China or Hong Kong).
CONS:
*Loose Frontt - Similar to the Samsung OEM Flip Case (along with a bevy of other similar products) the front portion of the case has no clip, magnet, or similar fastening feature. While not a particular deal killer for me, I'd rather not have the flap potentially swing to and fro every time I use the device. (Note: I plan on trying to add a magnetic strip to solve this in the near future).
*Top and Bottom Minimal Protection - I suspect ROCK took a cue from slim case designs when designing the "cradle" portion. Similar to slim cases, there seems to be a minimal amount of protection for the device on both the top and bottom portions of the case. Unfortunately I haven't tested a screen protector with the case on, but will update accordingly
*Tricky Using with One Hand - I assume this is a no-brainer for most who have used or plan on using these types of cases, but attempting to use the device cradled in this case with a single hand, proves more difficult then you might suspect. Most of this has to do with the spine of the case not sitting flush with the back when the front is flipped over. Not a total deal breaker for me, but possibly for some.
Overall I'm quite happy with the purchase!

Nice! Think I'll be ordering a blue one
Thanks!

Nice to have this as an option. I have the OEM white flip cover case and found I actually prefer that it's the battery cover and not adding more bulk with an overlay. Since the GS3 has a removeable back, I'm not at all worried about protecting it as if it gets scuffed, I'll just swap a new back on. In fact I just got my Touchstone chargers and backs so I'll be modding the back for inductive charging like shown in the other thread - something that some cases will hinder since it will add too much thickness.
I've been mulling over modding it so the flip is vertical instead of book-type, which sometimes annoys me as well when I'm holding it. I've found that the only time i really hate the flip cover is when I'm trying to take pictures, the flap gets in the way. Not sure how to mitigate that at all with a flip cover. In regards to the cover staying closed I have some super tiny neodymium magnets that should work to make it snap closed.
Would have been bad-ass if it worked as a smartcover on/off, but I guess Samsung maybe afraid of apple coming after them for copying again. I tried using the smartcover apps that use the light sensor for on/off but they just become annoying at turning the device off at random times for me.
Does this come in any other textures? I find the one pictured not to my taste and would rather have a grain instead of the wavy lines I see.

Actually ROCK does offer two additional flip-style cases.
One being similar to the Samsung OEM case, which has the back portion of the case serve as the battery cover. Colors vary for this version, and the texture looks a bit similar, just seems to trail in a horizontal pattern.
ROCK Elegant Side Flip - http://www.rockphone.cn/en/products...5&id=1478&year=0&month=0&pmenuid=0&pbrandid=0
The other offering has the front flat of the case flipping up and over the device. This case also seems to be constructed of a more traditional leather-like material, making it more smooth as far as pattern is concerned (can't seem to find a direct link on their site):

So where can you buy just one?
It should have had the quicksand back cover, this seems very slippy.

Actually the texture and pattern make it INCREDIBLY tacky, which has made me overlook the front cover not having a fastening mechanism. It's also far easier to use with one hand after a few weeks of ownership (the fold has relaxed quite a bit). Honestly this has replaced my Elago slim fit case.

I personally didn't really like this case, it seemed too bulky and the texture was just a bit too soft. It's significantly larger than the official case, because the back snaps on and doesn't replace the battery cover, and the material they use has a layer of cardboard sandwiched within.
I got this case a couple days ago for my white SIII. Love it so far.
I think i' over flip cases though. Just hard to use the phone with them.
ROCK has best cases ever!!!
I also bought the Rock "Big City" flip case and I am very pleased!
I made a video for you to see the case, with close ups! the texture is realy amazing.
In this video, I review two Rock cases, the first is the Flip case and the second is the well-known Quicksand!
thanks..just ordered the big city in blue!! this looks awesome
i effin hate my stupid samsung flip cover. I have honestly exchanged it about 6 times and each one has fallen apart....its a POS
QUICK QUESTION
Does the case extend 1mm or so beyond the top and bottom of the phone? it seems to be that way in the pictures..just curious
thanks!
ROCK Case is always get my breath, last time I got a Rock quicksand case for GS3,amazing case!!! what a pity they now stop to manufacture that case for the reason of a lot of knock-off ROCK case in market, so just cherish the copyright ROCK Quicksand! Instead, the ROCK forest case is also outstanding with its natural leaf design...

Case review: dbrand Grip for Pixel 5

Disclaimer: This review was neither sponsored, nor did I recieve any personal discounts. My personal opinion about this product is unbiased.
Pricing
dbrand lists the case with a skin for 39.90 USD. I applied a newsletter subsription and paid 35.91 USD. No shipping fees were charged.
Delivery
The case was shipped from Canada to Germany in about 12 days and a tracking code. Although I thought that sales taxes would apply and be collected by the customs, the package had a "customs free" sticker on it and no taxes were charged. I dunno why but I do not complain.
Pictures
Retail box
The retail box is a gem. I took some shots of it so you see what I mean. It contributes nicely to the product and makes you feel having purchased something precious. Nicely done, robots!
Assembly
If you purchased a skin with the case, you have to bring it up to the case first. If you watch and follow the video guide, this is fairly easy and led to a perfect result for me.
Build quality / Durability / Looks
For my last 5 phones, I used SPECK cases and therefore was used to bulky cases. In comparison, this case feels lighter and even slim. It sure is a good amount bulkier than typical "slim case" but it comes with a decent amount of drop protection. Thanks to the Pixel 5 being a compact phone, it still can be held with one hand in a comfortable manner when wearing the case.
The edges feature a slighly nobby texture that feels just great and should also prevent accidential slips. The texture of the Matrix skin looks dope.
All in all, this case looks high-class and also provides nice haptics. In my eys, it is worth the money.
Protection
The case feels sturdy and protective. I am confident that my Pixel 5 will survive some serious drops with it.
The lip on the frontside has the signature curve: Thick at top and bottom, flush at the sides. This makes the back-swipe gesture a breeze while still preventing screen contact when placed on flat surfaces. I am a bit unsure wether this will lead to trouble with face-down falls on uneven surfaces, but I assume that a evenly formed lid might not perform much better in this scenario.
Fitting / Cutouts / Buttons
The case fits like a glove. The buttons are super clicky and it's a joy to use them. The cutouts are precise and the port cutout should be big enough to provide space for most cables.
Unfortunately, the fingerprint cutout is rather small. This makes the "swipe down for notifications" gesture definitely harder to use although it still works. For me, this is not a show stopper but it might be for people with fat huge fingers. I just wish that dbrand would have made the cutout a little bit bigger since this is my only point of criticism with this case.
Durability
If you search the internet about the dbrand Grip cases, you will stumble upon many stories where the cases fell apart. Then I found this thread, where dbrand gave a comprehensive explaination why this happened and which counter measures were taken. This case is the latest generation and comes with all the described improvents. Only time will tell wether this case will hold up better.
Verdict
I highly recommend the drand Grip case for the Google Pixel 5: It looks and feels great, provides good protection without adding too much bulk. The customizablity with new skins is unique and might tempt you to spend more money. This being said: If you have huge fingers, the fingerprint cutout might be too small for you. I am confident that this case will not fall apart (or dbrand being obliging if it does).
Could you please take a picture from the top with the screen on and with a white background on (you could go to the settings or anywhere else that shows the entire screen from edge to edge)? I would give an idea of how much bulk it adds to the phone.
I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Yes, I use an Anker PowerWave Alloy and wireless quick charging works flawlessly.

its a good grippy case.. I love mine.
you gotta be out of your damn mind to pay for this...Ringke case, 12 bucks, owned, tested (not intentional) and it even got a cool Lanyard loop.
I have a new one for sale - has a sage skin on back - never used it - $20 delivered - PM me or email me at [email protected]
One of long term video reviews showed edges warping near cutout and buttons. How is it holding up so far? Price gives me a reason to pause even with the super 'grip" edges.
After using it every day, it is still in mint condition.
Thanks for the really good review. Just one point to clarify: can you please confirm that the back of the base (not just the side bumper) also has a grippy texture? If you put it on your pant leg when sitting, for example, will it slide off easily?
I love my Dbrand Grip with the red dragon skin and its super grippy texture.
If you're looking at phone cases to protect your phone's screen, you need to check out one of the screen guards. Screen protectors are becoming more advanced as the years go by. Some are built right in, some you have to put on separately. Either way, these are the best ways to make sure that your screen is safe. How can I make my phone case grippier?
You should also make sure that the cases you're looking at are anti-skid. This means that the case doesn't just slip over the phone, but stays put instead. If your phone slips out of the case, it will stop the phone from sliding all over the place. How can I make my phone case grippier? Start looking for cases with anti-skid features!
Another question you may be asking yourself is how can I make my phone case grippy if the material is hard and doesn't let the phone slide all over? Well, this is another problem that many phone cases have. So many cases are made of extremely hard materials that it's nearly impossible to slide your phone in and out. But luckily, there are some great soft cases available that are great at preventing your phone from sliding around.
I've been rocking this phone case for over a year. Just ordered the Leather skin insert from D Brand drop and a matte black skin as well. I've had the tear down on it for the year. The case is quite nice and offers good protection. The cut outs make it easy to use gesture controls.

After over a year of frequent use, I switched to an Google Pixel 6 Pro and therefore also sent this case to rest. Time for a wrap up on durability!
Unlike older generations, my case stood the test of time. The rubber did not separate from the plastic and even after some serious drops on concrete, the case is still in mint condition.
Only the skin foil started to get loose around the fingerprint scanner which led to strange haptics when you remove the finger from the scanner (since the foil will move a millimeter with with your finger). A new skin will surely fix this and so would some glue.
Guess what? I already pre-ordered this case for my new Pixel 6 Pro!
