New official WM6 ROM + BB Connect Client = working - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Anyone already tried the new official HTC ROM (possibly german) and the Blackberry Connect Client (via BIS not BES)? If so, which version (2.1.2.54?)?
I have searched, googled and read so many threats and could not get a clear answer so far.
/edit: It's working - see below.
Thanx, appreciated.

I can not believe that amongst so many pros here, no one can confirm? Guys, I really need your help here. Many thanks!!!

Hi
I'm running the HTC released ROM & have BB Connect 4.0 working perfectly on T-Mobile UK.
I'm using the version attached. I installed it and then sent a new service book to my device & it works a treat without ANY messing...
Good luck!

It Works !!!!!!!!!!

Hi Gavin,
Thank you indeed for your reply and encouraging message. I will give it a shot and hope for the best.
**edit: Just installed the new official ROM (WM6 German) as well as the BB Connect Client 4.0.0.90 in combination with BIS (not BES) and I am happy to confirm that it's working like a charm. Things I needed to do for the BB Connect client were a couple of reboots until I got my PIN again (same as I had before). After another reboot it started connecting and finally I had my service books sent via my BB internet account and voila - connected and running. Hope this helps others as well. Thanks to Gavin again!!!
All the best

hi
how come when I install this program doesn't it return me the initial pin and it always tells me in suspended?
Unfortunately not having the pin I cannot effect some it records on my supplier of services to be able to unload the emails.

So this means it should also work on Black Satin and other popular WM6 roms?
Arnie

i run the Offical Offical AT&T ROM by vp3G (vp3G3.0.0) and this cab files works perfect with my BES servers.

This is what I have been waiting for - am going to try it now.
Can I suggest the title of this thread be changed to "NEW BBConnect Version works with WM6 ROMs". I know there are many waiting for an updated version that works without having to Hexedit the build. The current title is a bit misleading.

Hi,
I have changed the title to reflect the current status.
Piluco,
I got my pin after a few restarts (soft reboots) straight from the network. It was the same pin I had before using WM5 and BB Connect 2.1.2.16.
Cheers
Stony

Do you have a BB Connect plan through your provider? My PIN didn't show up until I changed my Data plan to a BB Connect plan with Rogers.

The PIN will only be generated when your service provider activates the BlackBerry service on your account....
Have you asked Vodafone Italia to active BlackBerry facilities on your account? If not, no version of BB Connect will work!

Have you set up your account, e.g. via www.mobileemail.vodafone.it ? At any rate and as described above, your provider will have to activate your account plan first.

TMO BB Connect for Wizard also works on Universal!

I successfully installed and configured the recently published BB Connect program onto my Universal. T-Mobil Germany officially came out with the BB Connect add-on a few days back, and it turns out it actually is dual-platform-aware, Wizard and Universal.
It can be downloaded at ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/HTC_Wizard/BB Connect/mdavario_sw_bb_03-2006.zip
There is one *but* though. Until now, I only got it to work on TMO-UKs 1.20 MDA PRO ROM, but my suspicion is that it actually has something to do with the radio version. BB Connect works flawlessly on radio versions 1.06 and below (I saw similar behaviour on the Blue Angel devices where radio versions beyond 1.13 could not made to work with BB Connect).
Anyway, although initially I could not get it to work with the Jasjar 1.20 rom, I must say I did use the 1.09 radio. I will be re-installing the Jasjar rom later today, this time with radio version 1.06 and report back on the results.
(While I was writing this, I heard my "T-Mobilized O2 XDA Exec" happily signalling the arrival of new mail )
BB Connect working on MDA Pro
I can confirm that the BB Connect Client from the Wizard is working on my Universal.
It seems also correct that you have to have the t-mobile ROM installed. I tried it with the latest I-Mate ROM but it failed to connect after the initial setup. I then installed the lastest t-mobile ROM and now BB Connect is working like a charm...
Great stuff!!!
Cheers
version no
Wiz,
Kindly advise what version is your latest t-mobile rom.
Thanks & Regards
The combination that works is TMO UK 1.20 (or lower) and radio 1.06 (or lower)
Other versions (Qtek, Imate) work as well, as long as they are AKU1 and *not* AKU2
I can confirm that it DOESNT work on O2 Rom with radio 1.06, with VF Account and DE TMOB BB.. I will try to do the tmob rom update in the next couple of days...
will the tmob rom and bb client work ok with a VF account??

We have a BB Enterprise subscription and a BES at our central location. Our provider is VF Germany. I dont know if you can use BB with VF-Push but I _asume_ that it will work.
took the leap this morning as it appears the rom has other useful things in like an updated BT stack for BT Caller ID Etc..
Bottom line is it all dropped in ok, have BB coming down from our BES, bizarre thing is though the from address is shown as an exchange address and not email, and I cant reply as yet.. maybe something on our BES server needs tweaking..
Anyone know how to remove the Tmob links on the Home Screen? I've changed the theme back to Windows Default for the time being but would like to remove some of the Today ICONS that TMob stick on there..

Not working on T-Mobile MDA Pro German
Hi tried this, but I cannot get it to connect to the BB server. The software lists IMEI and BB PIN. It seems to connect for one or two seconds (for that time, I see an IP address in the status window), but after that, it disconnects and stays that way.
I phoned T-Mobile MMS (Multimedia Services) yesterday and asked them about it. To my surprise, they did not try to shake me off because I was using a Vario software with my Universal, but honestly tried to reproduce my problem - and succeeded in that.
They told me that the BB client for T-Mobile MDA Pro German should be released "early in April", gave me a EUR 10 Bonus on my bill and told me to watch their homepage for the software update. I'm quite satisfied with that

Could you, please, confirm which versions of ROM, RADIO and ExtROM you use ? The only combination i was able to runn BBCOnnect was T-Mobile ancient ROM 1.20.120. Others never worked.
Would someone please be kind enough to post the ftp link to the exact T-mobile rom that works with the BB connect software?
Never mind I got it all running but I get no messages, I can send them but I have not recieved any.......
I had to call T-Mobile, they reset my location data in their system and now my BB is working!
Next I am going to try to install the O2 ROM, I did a backup using Sprite Software 5.1 and will do a ROM upgrade from T-Mobile to O2 and see if the BB works with that....
I posted this over in the wizard forum and was wondering if this was actually the better place.

I have installed the BB Connect software. It connected the moment the BES admin added me to the BES network, since then it has not really worked properly.
In looking at the Initial window for BB connect titled "Instant Email - ", I see Lookup, Settings, Register Now, Suspend and Hide enabled. Email Setup is disabled.
Under the Settings button I see:
Identity - my pin, my IMEI and sometimes an IP address.
Under the Status tab I see
Service: Not Connected, Data Tunnel Available, Network Available at different times, but typically Not Connected. I also believe that I see an IP address when I the state is on Network Available on the Identity tab, but since I can't see both tabs at the same time, I am not 100% certain.
I also have the option to suspend, restart, and uninstall on this screen. And a couple of Suspend Options.
Under the Service List, I see:
Blackberry [ALP]
Blackberry [CMIME]
Both of the above services are active. The CMIME Service has some synchronization options available.
Under the IT Policy tab, I see:
One was created yesterday and the name is default
Options Tab:

English OS without losing SoftBank connection settings...

If I want to be able to have an English OS on the X01HT is there any way to
have ALL the menus show up in English while still keeping the SoftBank
"connection settings" and not screwing up the phone? The phone is already
unlocked.
TIA
So there is no quick and painless way to do this?
The problem I have is I can manually set up the ISP connection but as we
all know in Japan, SoftBank will NOT give you the password that is being
requested by your X01HT in order to be able to go online.
Here it is. I have used this with every ROM I have used.

Thank you for the link. I will give it a try as soon as I can and hopefully it
will work on my dog's breakfast of a setup I have on my X01HT.
I won't be able to confirm that all's ok (smart name for an alarm monitoring
company in Japan BTW "allsok", but I digress) until I finish up here on my
visit to Canada. I just got the Rogers settings sort of working but they're
still kind of flaky.
Thanks again!

Got bbconnect working!

Thanks a lot for this GREAT forum! Finally got blackberry connect working on my artemis! Downloaded v 4.0.0.92 from this forum last week, thought I'd give it a go. It's been a month since I tried all other versions 4.0.0.84 to 4.0.0.91. They ALL made me sick, had to restore a few times. I was amazed that it worked this time, and still works! I have my work mail coming in from BES, and also configured 3 other mail accounts (gmail, isp and my domain), works like a charm.
of course, thanks Meschle for the fantastic touch 3.01 rom!
cubist, what radio are you using?
how did you manage to get the BES to work? Is there any trick or magic?
Radio 3.07.90, which comes with touch 3.01, no alterations made to registry, like some suggested in other posts for older versions of bbconnect.
Once you manage to get connected, setup personal mail through secure blackberry browsing. Create a login here too for web access, so you can resend service books when needed! Once that is all ok, you should get autoconnected to blackberry over edge. My plan is paid by my company, and we have a bes server with lotus notes. I called our dept to reactivate (they have to activate account with password on server, it works only for 48 hours) Then reactivated with password.
Cubist,
thanks a lot, mine is working as well. Just did as you proposed.
glad I could help you!
by chance, do you know what happens to re-activation after having flashed a new ROM? Do you need to go through the re-activation process again?
you can resend service books from the web. If you have the same radio and bbconnect can install on the rom, you should get connected. For the BES part, I'm not sure. I think the key used to register with the BEserver contains a device id, I'm not sure if that changes when installing another rom. I will know shortly: when touch with wm6.1 comes out, I'll test it.
Hi and wonder if you can help!
I am with O2 in the Uk - XDA Orbit WM6
Got BSoftware 4.0.0.92 and got 1 of my emails working okay, but when adding a 2nd one got the following error message:
Service Book Management
Device Message Store Limit.
You must delete a message store to use service.
example: [email protected]
Do you happen to know the way around this?
Many thanks....Carlos
Some providers only allow a certain amount of mailboxes to be added. Your BES account is the first, probably you can't add more than 1 account.

blackberry connect on htc hd

hi guys, does anybody knows if bbconnect works on hd
Tried version .103 last night - not yet working (i.e. no PIN) will investigate further with other versions when I have a little more time and report back - anyone else working on this with any success please share?
Thanks
Any luck making the HTC Touch HD work with BBC-Blackberry Connect (BES)? I am still stuck in "PIN pending" on my side whatever I do... Thanks for letting me know.
Otherwise, the HTC Touch HD is definitely the best HTC device I have used since converting from Blackberry; I would hate to have to go back to BB devices, even though the Storm seems to be a giant step up (but no Sling player, no Kinoma Player, etc.).
28Wagram (A Frenchman lost in the US for the last 10 years...)
obviously i am having the same result as you guys trying to use version .100 This version worked on my touch pro. going to try a few version and see what i can get accomplished here
Versions Confirmed NOT working:
.103
.100
.92
.91
.90
.84
.67
These are the only versions I can find so I can say its a no go for now.

I took your advice, changed it and soft reset. I then installed version .103 and PIN still reads pending. What version would you recommend for this setting? I dont want to go through them all again haha. I also tried th eone that worked on my touch pro (.100) and still no PIN.
I would not know what to recommend. My previous suggestion came from my experience with the TyTn II but I suppose the value to use is device dependant. Maybe another user can help us on this
I hope that you succeed because my decsion to the Touch HD depends on whether one can install Blackberry Connect.
Please let us know if you manage to make it run.
I have a corporate Vodafone BES blackberry account - have bbconnect .103 install - had NO PIN for days but .... my PIN has finally arrived - seems Vodafone have added the HD to the supported devices list!!!!!!
.
BB Connect
version .103 was stopped after 5 minutes. I had PIN and everything, now I have nothing , no connection no PIN
Same here in the US, on AT&T/Cingular, with BBC .103. Five minutes of heaven, PIN out, connection, and then... nothing - No connection any longer. Keeping my fingers crossed...
Guys , any news on this topic? It would be nice to share your success with us! Thanks, Thorsten

Seems like were all in the same boat - I'm checking daily for updates - I think we'll have to wait for RIM to issue a new version of bbconnect (maybe a .105 version) as they did with the Pro before we see this working properly.
If anyone else has any updates or thoughts then let us know!

Status
So I've got Touch HD on Vodafone UK and installed Blackberry Connect v 4.0.0.103.
Seems to have registered with the network as I have a pin code but struggling to get services activated with company BES.
Try to connect to Desktop Software (v4.0.0.22) but get a cannot connect to device error code.
Saw someone posted success with a Vodafone UK SIM - could you post the specific versions of desktop software et al and whether you were connecting to a company BES?
Feel like I'm a step or 2 away from a perfect phone
Thanks,
John.
but for the specification they mentioned about they don't have Blackberry support, right?
I'm also following this thread HERE apparently theres a version 1.0.0.104 about but I'm sceptical - lets see?

Blackberry Connect

Will Blackberry Connect work on the Touch Pro2?
I have installed version 106 and no luck as yet with t-mobile., stiil pending.
I just put the blackberry service on the phone and they said give it another day to activate the service.
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
i have been stuck on this issue for a week... no luck...
wrote to htc and they came back saying that look for updates on its site... now that's a really long shot..
would suggest that you too write to them... lets put some pressure..
this is a business phone according to them... then bberry is as much important!
I havent bought this phone yet, but I would only be able to if bbconnect is working.
Could you try to change the device ID to TouchPRO in settings/system/about and change the registry HLM\System\Versions\Aku to .1.6.0
But you need to change it BEFORE you install BBConnect
Please indicate if this makes any difference, otherwise we'll need to wait for a new bbconnect version
When i had installed the software without the above settings, i had a PIN and IP address - but it would not connect.
Later on i had hard reset the phone...
now i re-installed the software with the settings u mentioned, but i do not have a PIN or IP Address and bbconnect will not register either...
could u please tell me how to un-install it safely too? as i do not want to do another hard-reset now!
(btw, i had done a hard reset on the phone earlier coz after i tried 106 and uninstalled it, i installed a previous version 100 and it hung my phone.... )

I think you have to play with the version number of your WM...
In case of WM61
I used this:
HKLM\System\Versions\AKU key, change whatever in there (like .0.0.3) to .0.4.2

I'm an Aussie wanting to purchase a Rhodium...
I'm upgrading from a 7100G blackberry handset. (yup a massive upgrade). Although the most critical part of my phone... (apart from making phone calls) is my blackberry push e-mail...
I can't afford to change over phones until I know that the Blackberry Connect 4.0 works. I know that HTC have a special version of the Blackberry Connect for the Diamond, the Touch Pro ect...

With Windows 6.5 rumoured to be released within the next month I'm speculating that we won't see Blackberry Connect 4.0 working on the windows mobile 6.1

Me too!! Not working.
Had T-mobile and Rim on the phone together with no luck.
Well I contacted HTC to find out when it would work and this was the reply I received:
Since Windows Mobile is our platform for the HTC handsets, we would push customers to use the Microsoft exchange server.
The device comes with microsoft exchange server support and also supports IMAP and POP3 accounts.
HTC is not going to release any Blackberry connect applications and it would not up to HTC to do this. If Blackberry wants to develop an application and release it to HTC, you may need to check with RIM/BB.
RIM (is the company name)
Blackberry is the platform
Hope this information helps.
Sounds like the person I was contacted by either has no idea or there's no plan for blackberry connect to work on the touch pro 2.... Oh well looks like I'll have to purchase a storm...
Just be patient...
I'm more than sure that we will get BBC to work the same way we did it before. By manipulating the Device-ID string in the ROM (from HTC-Rhodium to whatever) BBC should recognize the device as "allowed" and it _should_ work. So all we have to do is to wait for the HardSPL-guys getting it done so that we can flash custom ROMs. Once this is done, I assume we will have BBC up and running.
Blackberry Connect.
Blackberry Connect does not work on the device, however, it seems to work on the HD.

Has anyone tried this?

make sure your AKU is set to .1.6.3. I have bbc .106 working fine on my touch pro2 with this and the SetModelID solution

I am planning on upgrading from Fuze to Fortress (TP2) and want to see if this works. You need to make sure your account is provisioned for BBConnect service.
Didn't work for me even after switching system ID to identify as Raphael, on T-Mobile US.
It works fine on the Rhodium. Check out the thread entitled "blackberry connect, not yet working" It got working about halway through. I use BBC on mine but I needed to make a couple of tweaks as outlined in that thread.
Dominoid - Rhodium - Blackberry connect
very interested in your asnwer dominoid.....can you send us more specifics as to how / what / where. We are dying to get Rhodium work with BBErry Connect. Which version worked with yours?
Does anyone know the orignal AKU for the ATT Tilt2?
I hate cross posting in threads, but somehow people decided to open different threads on the same topic. (Maybe a mod can merge them into one if he reads this).
Read more for a final solution without using SetModelID and starting and stoping services each time:
