Text messages notification? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

I remember before that when there is a next text message, one of the LED's blinked orange. Was that my imagination or can we turn that feature on?
I would like to look quickly at the phone and know if there is a new message without having to turn on the phone.
TIA

Yes
Settings -> (personal tab) Sounds and Notifications -> select in the list New Text -> check blink ... ...

thank you!

Hide SMS Notification

I'm sure there is a hack to hide the pop up notification which is displayed for about 5 secs when you receive a message
It's a bit embarrasing if you have the phone on the dashboard for satnav and then a private text is summarised as it arrives
All i want is the incoming tone and symbol - not the message sender and text displayed
Hide SMS notification
To hide the pop up notification:-
go to start, then settings, then click on sounds & notifications,
from the events dropdown list pick Messaging: New Test Message,
then just tick or untick display message on screen!
also has options for playing sounds and a flashing notification light.
Hope this helps, 1st time i have replied to anyone on this forum
Thanks Wooley - never noticed it there !!! All done now

[BLACK SATIN]: E-Mail Notifications

Hi,
When I receive a new E-Mail via Active Sync, I can hear the message sound but display doesn't turn on and no notification is showed.
How I can solve it?
Regards,
Taguapire
check your settings its probably set not to display on the today screen pretty easy
does anyone know how to do this for when you send a text message. you hear a sound but no display notification. thanks
If you're referring to the setting for new emails at Start > Settings > Sounds and Notifications > Notifications, there is nothing there that would affect what I believe the OP is referring to.
I take that back. You can check a box to have a message shown on the display, but not to turn on the display.
I'm running Black Satin, as well, and when I receive an email, I get the sound notification, the status LED notification, and the message on the display, but it will not wake the device up out of standby and turn on the display. I'm not complaining, however, because this is the behavior I desire.
To contrast this, the receipt of a text message will do all of the above, and also wake up the phone and turn on the display. This often results in buttons pushed and programs launched as I take the phone out of my pocket.
I have seen nowhere to control that aspect of notifications.

new SMS in standbye

when display is OFF,there is not any way to show there is a new SMS or MISSED CALL or ... until we turn on display and see ...
is there any way to show we have a new SMS or MISSED CALL when display is OFF ?
If you go to start > settings > Sounds & Notifications > Notifications tab, and when you select "New Text Message" or "Missed Call" from the drop down menu then just tick the box "Flash Light for" and set a time limit. then when you have a missed call or a new text message you will get a flashing amber LED.

[Q] No SMS notification

I just did a hard reset with my phone. After that, I messed something with the registry. I guess I did something wrong, because I don't get SMS notifications anymore, only the screen is waking up and the LED is flashing. I just want the little icon in the top of my screen and I want to see the preview of the message.
Is there any way to set this in the registry?
Settings -> Sounds & Notifications -> New text message ; check box "Preview message on screen"
I already checked that box
I solved it with a hard reset...

[Lenovo P2] LED configuration

Hey folks,
did anybody manage to get the LED light working with Whatsapp and so on? Everytime I get a message it just does nothing. With system apps it's different. As soon as a SMS comes in the LED lights up.
Thanks for the help.
LED notification -> Other Unread Notifications - > Enable
choose Color for it and you are done..
Will try and report back. Many thanks!
It works but it does not apply whatsapp individual led settings. You are however forced to stick to the setring you made in the system and not the app.
