IMAP Mail Download Error - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Well I finally got my TyTn, TNT flashed, unlocked and good to go!
However, I have one question/issue.
Until I can get Blackberry Connect to work (how do I create a PIN?) I am using my IMAP4 account.
I did this all the time with my old 6700 and had no problems, but under WM6, it will start to download/send email and crash most of the way through.
Any thoughts?
Thank you!

Yeah I'd noticed this problem recieving IMAP mail in WM6 on my Hermes. WM5 worked without a problem. With WM6 it will receive about 50% of my email and then say something like "failed to download email". I then click on the 'Send/Receive' option again to get the rest of the email. It's not a show stopper but is a little annoying. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be grateful. Maybe there are some timeout settings in the registry that I don't know about.

Timeout-Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device

I have a couple of POP3 accounts on my O2 XDAIIs. I used to be able to download my email from ISP without problems.
Lately, when there is any email waiting, it will connect and try to download and pop up the following message "Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again."
The other POP3 accounts work fine, even with the same ISP, and this POP3 account used to work when I first got the unit. The POP3 account in question works fine from my Treo using the same SIM card (I have Cingular).
I searched all over the web and forums, I see many have the problem and some have not been able to resolve it. I tried:
1) Soft and Hard Reset
2) Deleting and reentering the account
3) Used the Sprite Mail cleanup utility (which basically cleans all emails and attachments)
4) Tried a registry key that had worked for some: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox, create new DWORD ForceOffSSL and give it a value of 1.
5) Checked with my ISP – they could not see any problem with the account and works with anything else but my O2 XDA IIs.
6) I tried the Flemail 2006 program (formerly WebIS) and it worled for email. But the program is so buggy and slow that I had to delete it. This tells me the problem is with the native pocket outlook.
If there is NO email, it will connect, check and disconnect with no error.
There is a timeout somewhere. The other accounts can connect and download without problems.
Has anybody else had this problem and does anybody have any suggestions?
No one else has had this problem? Any suggestions?
I know it is device specific as it works on the same GSM account on a Treo.
PPC6700 with same problem
I just purchased the PPC 6700 and I love the device itself, but I have had many problems with it after owning it for only 4 days.
1. Sprint failed to let me know that my phone had to be updated. Thanks! I only found out about this update after 1 hour of phone tech support trying to find out why my phone randomly went into flight mode. What a pain in the ***.
2. I have my own servers and cannot download my mail from them or my home isp. Sprint by the way repeatedly told me this must be an issue with you server. I told him after being on the phone for 3 hours (I could tell he wasn't happy) "You must be right! Microsoft has always developed software much more then anything ever put out in the Unix world".
So the only help I guess I can offer to you is "Yes, I have the same problem with the native outlook that comes with WM5.0

Whenever I see this (and I see it a alot) on mt XDA IIs, I just select Accounts|Clear <account>
If it doesnt work immediately then I restart the Outlook Inbox app and/or disconnect/reconnect.
Been through searching registry/deleting this & that database file / re/installing accounts. Havent had to do that for ages.
I access 5-6 pop accounts from various servers, several are my wife's. My bet is that it has something to do with whether the current status of the emails downloaded in your device matches the server etc - due to the function that you can delete the emails from the server by downloading, deleting and then deleting from the 'deleted items' folder and re-sycning
HTH
ME TOO! Any resolution??
I am having the SAME EXACT PROBLEM with my new 6700...did you ever find a resolution?
THanks,
I am having the same problem on a Hermes / TyTN.
My first TyTN was fine. I have 3 email accounts. 1 uses SSL and the other 2 don't. There were no problems using either account.
Having replaced my 1st TyTN with a new one (due to poor wifi on first device) I now get the message 'Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again'.
The only solution is to use the ForceOffSSL setting for my 2 none-SSL POP3 accounts. Then I have to reboot the TyTN without the ForceOffSSL settings to use my SSL POP3 account.
Continually changing the ForceOffSSL setting and rebooting is annoying, so for the time being I'm using nPOP email client for my non-SSL accounts.
getting an email timed out on cingular 8525
I am getting the same message 'Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again'. I am having the same problem intermittently with Htc Tytn with a pop account yahoo. I seem to connect without a problem on the internet but i do get this error intermittently. any solution?
Same here ... cannot send mail via OptOnline Account
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK...I got a resolution to this last night on the Cingular forum.
Quick answer is that OOL's SMTP Server is locked down. I needed to change the outgoing server to Cingular's (CWMX.com).
Thanks to anyone who took the time to click-in on this thread.
Happy New Year, all!

===================
Hi all, OK, this marks my first post on this board. I've been a lurker for a few months, and have settled into a Cingular 8525 as my first Pocket PC Phone.
I noticed a few days ago that I could not send mail via my OptOnline Account, unless I was using WiFi or the 8525 was tethered to my home PC via ActiveSync. I was thnking all along that it was probably due to some piece of third party software that I installed over the past few weeks (a hearty thanks to all on these forums who develop and/or market their wonderful wares, btw).
But today, for a lack of anything else to do, I hard reset and tried simply setting up that one account to try my machine out in its pure form. Lo and behold, I still get the same error, 'Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again.'
As a matter of fact, it seems this message itself is in error, since it happens when I try to SEND a message, not when I try to receive them. I have even received emails in this account at the same time this error message appears, but at any rate, messages in my outbox do not get sent.
As far as I can tell, all the settings are correct. I have played with them, and tried all the permutations I can think of, but this baby will not send mail via this account. My XpressMail and Hotmail accounts work fine, both sending and receiving, and I can browse the web fine via My ISP or WiFi.
I have spent a lot of time searching the web for an answer to this problem, but it seems it's been quite prevalent with WM5.0 devices for well over a year, and still does not have an answer.
So ... my first post ... which should have been a thank you all, and Happy New Year, has turned into a request for the talents of you folk who know so much more than I regarding these devices.
Can anyone please lend a hand? Also ... is it "legal" to cross-post this message onto other forums on this board?
Thanks so much to anyone who can provide a solution.

I got it working
Like others in this thread I was getting the "unable to download messages to device" error when sending. My solution is:
Try leaving the 'domain' field blank.
It's on the Server Information page, and also on the Outgoing Settings if you 'Use separate settings' for your outgoing server.
Hope this helps you.
Rich
Domian Blank
My Domain is blank and frankly im just getting very agrivated by this. Does anybody eles have other advice to give towards this "cannot download message"?
I've got WM6, I've tried clearing and deleting the account, soft resetting the phone, making sure the domain field is empty, etc. It still gives this error for my POP account while my IMAP account is fine. Anyone find a solution?
Yes, deleting the domain really works in some cases (f.e. Gmail), but the same error occurs in my other account although I delete the domain. And funny thing is that it occurs only when there are some emails in outbox, receiving emails seems to work normnally :S
I'm still encountering this problem after trying everything on this post...
any other ideas?
Just had the same problem tonight. My mail server recently changed IP addresses, so I suspect DNS issues were the cause of my problem. I tried using the new IP address in place of the host name, but that didn't work for me. The account settings didn't seem fixable. Deleting the email account entirely and adding it back did the trick.

Getting a text message every time a new Earthlink email arrives

Hey guys, I'm hoping someone here might have had this problem...
Okay, I had this problem with WM5 too but somewhow managaed to get it to stop. No such luck with WM6. Here's the problem:
I set up my Earthlink email via the "New E-mail Account..." funtion. Works fine. However, now whenever I get a new email at my earthlink address I _automatically_ get a text message along the lines of this:
701
F: "Palm Store Newsletter"<Palm_
S: Through Sunday May 20, 2007 -P
Sent to <my address>
ID:345543456:1
In my email settings I've set it to Automatic Send/Receive to _Manual_. I can't think of anything else that would be causing my Dash to retrieve email headers like this. But its driving me nuts! because I'm getting spammed by text messages all day.
I've tried reconfiguring my email, rebooting, doublechecking my settings. Gah!
Go to your tmobile account on line go toyur email and disable alerts they are not supported on WM6 -rather they expert you to go to an exchange server
Wow - that was it. I had no idea TMobile would go that far to charge me for text messages Thank you muchly ljcaz!
aol email
i have a similar problem except my problem is i have aol set up in my email on WM6. on WM5 i was able to check email and it would stay on server. the new WM6 for some reasone even delets it off ther server once i delete on my phone. i have the setting on the phone set to leave on server but i dont know how to fix the problem any ideas

yahoo go gamma. yahoo go beta for wm has a memory leak. hence, your crashing issues.
yahoo is taking for ever to release yahoo go gamma. i personally think that it will never get released and it will get swept under the rug because they cant fix the memory problems without revamping the whole program.
hi guys,
i've just managed to download the beta version of yahoo go from emule a week ago. i installed it on wm5 but didn't really synchronize my mails after it initialized.
then i upgraded to wm6 over the weekend and then installed it again. this time with gprs it didn't even want to initialize. the connection kept disconnecting. i then reinstalled and tried using my wifi connection. it then at least download my mails. but then it didn't do the job properly. cause i couldn't open the mails. they didn't download properly.
so i gave up and uninstalled it.
then i thought of just trying to use the standard mail. surprisingly,i think my account had somehow been enabled for pop or imap by yahoo go. can someone else try this out to confirm?
sorry for the messy writing. i'm using my pda.
There's supposed to be a 2.0 version of Yahoo! Go for the Hermes real soon now... I put 1.5 on my fresh WM6 last night and I could no longer reply to any emails (no matter what account I tried) in tmail.exe.
So (not knowing this), I flattened my device again because I couldn't figure out what was going on (and installed vp3g's new rom!). Everything was working fine until I reinstalled Yahoo Go 1.5 again. The same problem came back.
Problem description:
After Yahoo! Go 1.5 is installed on WM6 (on my Cingular 8525, WM6 Cingular ROM or vp3g's WM6 3.0 ROM), I can only write and reply to SMS or MMS messages. If I attempt to reply, create, or forward a message in Outlook, Yahoo!, or my IMAP account, the new mail message fails. The screen goes white, I get an option to Send or look at a menu, but no To:, CC:, Subject:, Message body etc. You can't close the message or cancel the message.
You can kill the tmail.exe program, but the problem returns if you try again.
Uninstalling Yahoo! Go 1.5 solves the problem.

someone obviously didnt bother to read the thread before he posted
by the way, you can reply to emails. once you are in the email all you have to do is start at the black screen and press the down button and then go back up. and there is your email.
mark my words though. no yahoo go gamma. if you read tech news yahoo is dying a slow death at the hands of microsoft and google.

SMS & Exchange synchronisation => crash

Hi,
I am using the new SMS synchronisation with exchange, but sometime, after a while, sending a new SMS to my contact through the OWA just kind of crash my phone. Active sync become unresponsive and the phone gets hot!
The only solution left is to reboot the entire phone...
Does anyone else experienced this issue?
Any help, advice welcome!
Thank you
Wait, what's this? SMS through OWA? Sync SMS with Outlook? Need more info.

I am not sure that this feature is really interesting, because it is buggy so far. Pushing SMS from the phone to exchange works fine, but OWA to the phone is buggy.
This feature comes with exchange 2010 and WM6.5. If you have both, after your first sync you'll be able to enable it.

Yeah, I've read about this feature of Exchange 2010 -- sounds cool...wish my Exchange-Server host would upgrade from 2007.
Of course, phone getting hot and locking up sounds less cool...
Hi everbody,
I'm operating my own Exchange and recently upgraded it to 2010.
A colleague of mine and I are using HD2's where I have the same symptoms. I wasn't able to send an SMS through OWA (altough the server's listing the mail under "Sent items").
Strangely the text message is showing up in the conversation view on the phone.
When I now open up Outlook 2007 (as 2010 rtm hasn't been released, yet) the message is still in the outbox (unsent items, don't know what the translation is).
Now it comes:
A third person is using a Touch Diamond with some hacked Windows Mobile 6.5 - working flawlessly.
Anyone of you looked at that post?

Maybe that's a solution, but I haven't tried, yet.
@Brainscanner
i read the post, but i can't apply it to the rhodium
Just gave it a try. Working fine for me and the colleague with HD2's.

Email problem on Dash/HTC

I apologize in advance if this has already been answered but i have been looking for the solution for a couple of days now and have had zero success.
I have my t-mobile dash setup for pop3 email with my own domain. When I first setup the email account, the email is all downloaded fine. After that, it just stops working and hangs at "looking for changes". I can go into tools and modify the settings in there to download from 5k to 20k or make any changes in there it will download once, but then stop again.
One other fact about this is that it started once I updated my Dash from WM 5 to WM 6. I have since tried WM 6.1 and WM 6.5 and have the same problem on all.
Does anyone have any advice or solutions to this? I have seen a few people post the same question, but never any replies.
Are you using the TZones hack? If so, there is one more change needed to make your email work correctly. Look it up in the WIKI...it's the last thing on the list.
Sorry...not in the WIKI....just search for the TZones hack. It's in there.
No, I am not using the TZone hack. I have just upgraded my WM to 6.0, then 6.1, then 6.5 and have had the same problem on all of them.
It seems that using Exchange instead of POP works fine, but my email is not on an exchange server so I have to use POP.
I just put WM5 back on my dash and now my email works fine. Same setup and same account as before. The only difference is running WM5 instead of WM6, WM6.1 or WM6.5. I am not sure why that would make a difference, but I would LOVE to run a newer version of WM on my dash if anyone can shed some light on the pop email problem I am having.
I just read some other posts addressing a similar issue where a pop email setup on WM 6.1 kept "looking for changes" and wanted to check through all 6000 or so messages on the server. The recommendation was to set it up using IMAP. Does anyone know why the pop setup would be a problem but the IMAP would work?
Thanks
