Just a thought, but for those of us that have GPS receivers for our Hermes, is there a way of using the GPS coordinates to automatically update the location the weather application uses?
(Edit) Obviously I dont think this functionality will be built in but is it a development possibility?
Of course it's possible, all you need is a server which uses coordinates instead of postcodes oder city names. I think this would be even easier than having a whole database with names and places. But...
As the weather report usually isn't that exact to begin with, what sense does it make to have a report based on a precise GPS location? The weather report will be the same for a wide area and you should at least know, in which country you're in...
The only benefit would be, that you don't have to worry about settings. So maybe this will come, as soon as there is a "critical mass" of GPS capable mobiles around.
What I meant was it would be good if the weather app could use the GPS coordinates to automatically change the city/town that it is showing weather for to the one in its list you are closest to at the time.
For instance I live near Birmingham so when I am around there it would know this from the GPS coordinates then if I went to say Cardiff it would change the weather it was showing me from Birmingham to Cardiff so I dont have to goto the weather app select city and then find Cardiff and select it in the list and then refresh the weather. It would be automatic.
So noone wants to develop a small app that reads the coordinates from a GPS receiver and works out the closest town from the list of towns/cities on the weather app in the HTC Home thing and then changes your locality to that in the program then?
It's a huge undertaking for a pretty useless thing... really.
OK fair enough, but the framework involved would have uses for other location based services...

The thing is that I don't really know what is the default server TF3D is usung to update the weather (I think it is from accuweather) but the data displayed are most of the time not really true and sometimes stupid!
for example, the max is at 4°C and the minimum is 1°C and the weather displayed is 6°C!!! How could that be!!
So that's why I would like to change the server...

The server show conditions diferent from all other sites, and not reliable.
I was accustomed to spb weather which was very precise and gave forecasts for morning, day, evening and night and gave the opportunity to choose the server. The weather of TF3D is ridiculous!

I want the same thing! We hope that someone plug in a few developments that could improve the weather of TF3D.
I would love to change the server, too.
But does TF3D use some kind of common format for its forecast data, so that the server can be changed at all?

same problem, german weather is most time not true.
Maybe yahoo weather, it is much more better i use it sometimes on the iphone.
I also use the Forecastfox Firefox extension which uses AccuWeather data on my laptop. This data rarely matches the AccuWeather data on my HD.

get Weather database editor , with that i got every single town in my small country , after u instal that, u need to use http://www.accuweather.com to find your place code and enter it, its easy, try.

I think some of these have been listed, but there are some changes to the weather tab that I think would really improve it...
I tried to see if anyone had a solution, but couldn't find anything, so consider this a wish list for anyone who knows how some of these things could be possible...
1. Auto Update
Auto update is good, but not for every time I go to the tab (especially since I don't use a data plan). Is there any way to change this so it updates on a schedule only, or automatically (without going to the tab) only if a data connection is detected - eg every morning at 7am...?
2. 5 Day View
A forecast is great, but if I can't update my weather for a day or two, I have to go to the 5 day forecast to get today's weather. Honestly, the 'today' weather should pick the correct day and display it - so if you updated the weather on tuesday, and it's now thursday, the tab should show thursday's forecast - it's been downloaded, it's in the database, so why not show it...?
Ok, so that's my wish list - I know there aren't any settings as such to change this, but is any of this possible with a bit of ROM development or anything...?

There are a lot of people who would be interested in another provider than Accuweather. This is not accurate at all. There are so many other ones which are better than accuwather. At least in asia and UK it is not accurate. so is there a way to change that.
I couldn't sleep this night too well, so my mind was wandering about what a perfect GUI would be like.
I'm writing this in the blackstone group -because that's the mobile phone I have... This topic would of course be quite general stuff anyway.
And my mind produced something with my home/start view would be split into 6 areas. (excluding softkeys)

Each of the areas would then be large enough for not-so-perfect clicker and they would be large enough to show readable information. At least on the Blackstone with it's 480x800 resolution.
One could then configure a basic setup for each of the areas. Call the widgets or apps or whatever, each area could have an easily changeable app - the same app could also have either more standalone instances on 1-6 areas (for example football live tickers) - or the app could use the combined area of all the assigned areas (could be problematic with app design - how would a calendar app know that it has been assigned 2 areas for it's usage)
An example of the last:
I could have a basic configuration of (nevermind if they make sense, just an example)
1 - Tasks
2 - Clock
3 - Calendar
4 - Weather, with location picked from the calendar
5 - Call log
6 - Email notifications
Now when I would tip one of the areas shortly, that would open the app in fullscreen.
And if I would tap and hold the area, I would get a menu where I could...
* change area/screen configuration
* change app temporarily (so that after certain time the preset app would return in this area)
* or do some other stuff.
An example of the last chapter:
I could tip and hold area 6 and change the app in it to a live football ticker to follow a match and then after 3 hours the area would switch back to the email notifications. Or I could tip and hold area 1 to change it to a music player for the next hour.
I know this isn't realisable that easily with current winmo themes (not to full content), but I liked to share the idea and see if someone would even comment on it.

but it's not quite that. i'm in liverpool and all of a sudden the location changes to birkenhead. it says 2/2 and left me flip between the 2 locations but i can only delete liverpool. the option is greyed out for birkenhead.
anyway to remove birky?

ok, removing it and adding it again - but, with choosing 'current location' then means i have liverpool, and liverpool current lcoation entered.
odd but at least no birkenhead any more
The problem i have is the phone says i am in Bamber Bridge, when i am in fact in Leyland. When i search for Leyland, it says no match found. Leyland is a pretty large town (well larger than Bamber Bridge) which is famous for its industry, they should at least add the location!

I travel a lot in different countries for my job. So I have to know the time difference.
It would be no problem, if I travel to the big, known cities, but my destination is normally somewhere abroad the tourist centres.
That makes it annoying to search the local time zone, as example in the preinstalled google clock app, to add a second time.
I would like to have a map, where I can touch on my travel destination, and it shows me the local time and the difference to my hometown time, with the option to add this time to the system clock app.
Basicly, this app is what I need, but the layout isn't perfect on my Nexus 7. The map ist only useable in the landscape modus.
