Internet Browsing Problem after uninstalling netfront

I have installed netfront 3.2 and decided that I wont need it any more. the problem is that now, when I try to open any link (through text message for example) it is not autmoatically opening PIE, instead i am recieving this message
"There is no application associated with "http XXXXXXX" Run the application first, then open this file from within the application"
Any idea how to solve it?
or how to add the regisrty to link this to PIE?
Hi mhg,
Re install NetFront 3.2...then go to Browser settings in Netfront, look for an option wherein it asks for "set as default browser" Untick that option and then remove the Net Front...
Thanks for the reply
Already tried that it did not work

Soft Key icon missing on XDA Orbit???

Hi guys,
having had various WM5 handsets, I was a little upset to not be able to adjust the soft keys located at the bottom of the today screen. This has been possible on previous units just not the Orbit. The icon is found on the settings/ personal screen under the icon soft keys. I have done a hard reset and the icon still has not appeared. Can anyone suggest a registry entry to enable this function as the pre set options are not required????
I have seen 5 Orbits and all seem to be without it is this different on the artemis or T-mobile Compact III's?
Just to add I was wondering if I would ber able to dopy the icon from my previous device and see if it would work in my XDA Orbit?
Its the softkey applet you are after - place this cpl in the \windows directory soft reset and it should appear. (soft reset not strictly necessary)
Users beware - it is not easily reversible after install - you can delete the cpl but the settings remain the same and you will need to do a registry edit to get back tp previous state.
JC#79:
The Artemis has no Softkey applet, too.
Thanks at meschle
Thanks for that is any issues I should be aware of with using this applet, as in any problems etc?
Also how would I go about removing it from the registy should I indeed choose to do so (problems permitting)?

Change the application launched by Today screen Soft Keys
To change the application launched by the Today screen Left soft key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\Open = "\Windows\Calendar.exe" (REG_SZ string, including quotes)
To change the title of the Left soft key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\(Default) = "Calendar" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
To change the application launched by the Today screen Right soft key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\113\Open = "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Contacts.lnk" (REG_SZ string, including quotes)
To change the title of the Right soft key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\113\(Default) = "Contacts" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
Note that 113 normally doesn't exist by default, and probably needs to be created
Also note that there is at least 1 application that allows you to set these through a GUI, developed by FdcSoft called SoftKeyAppletEx.'
For some reason after removal of the applet the defaults dont return - so need editing
Thanks for that I'll give it a try later tonight after I backup the device just to be sure I can restore without any issues.
Also when you say wiki what do you mean have you a link?
Also will the applet allow me to use the softkey function as in previous handsets via softkey icon in personal tab of settings menu (am being blond has been along day)?

How have you tried to set it up? Which shortcut did you use?
I installed the file in the windows dir as advised.
I did a soft reset and attempted to use the New SMS & New MMS shortcuts.
When I try it comes up with the error message:
tnsms.exe
The file 'tnsms' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. You might need to reinstall or restore this file.
This also comes up for the file name 'tnmms' am not really sure what to do next, seems all other ones work that I have tried so far?

I dont seem to have those shortcuts - what device are you running?
If you can, attach copies of those lnk files in a zip.
I use wm5newmenu and it already has those shortcuts in its menu - i assigned the menu to left soft key.
I have the o2 XDA Orbit those shortcuts are a part of the messaging programme for starting new sms and mms. I will search the device and see if I can find the files and zip them up on here.
Correction I cannot find the files stated in the error message, so I am at a loss as to what to do next?
Bump
Anyone shed any light on this one? I can enable these shortcuts on my old MDA Compact yet with the applet on the Orbit it is having none of it.
Same here with my Orbit ... I wanted to use left soft key for new SMS, but it gives me an error: The file 'tnsms' cannot be opened. ...Any advice guys?
Cheers ..

Meschle - thank you for the intro to registry editing - good for beginners like me !
I use this:
Just to say, Happy Christmas to all,
AND
The registry setting for the soft keys is a marvel. I reckon it is better than any applet (going from what I hear), I havent tried any applet, I went straight to the registry and I must say It is exactly as promised.
My Setup:
O2 XDA Orbit, Mobile 6, Default Theme
Program to access Registry:
SOTI Pocket Controller Pro v6.01 (this is well worth the money)

removing PocketCM

I can't stand PocketCM, I find it unusable with a large contact database. However, I've failed to remove it as it's built into the ROM I'm using.
Anyone got step by step guides to telling WM to just run the bog-standard contacts app when I hit the softkey? I've read the PocketCM guide and have:
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:MSCONTACTS
Change "String 1" value from "\Program Files\PocketCM\PocketCM.exe" to ":MSPOUTLOOK contacts".
When I hit "contacts" either from softkey or menu, nothing happens.
Help!

Uninstalling ThumbCal ?!

Hi.
I tried to uninstall ThumbCal and everything went fine, except that in the Touch HD main screen when i click on Calender i got this message " The file 'ThumbCal' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found "
And when i open the calender from the start menu it run the original calender with no problem.
Anyone can help please ?
Probable cause: your shortcut assigned to the "calendar" key has not been changed back to its original value:
2 ways to change back manually:
- Use "HD Tweak", the TouchFlo HD area allows you to change to whatever you want.
- Or go straight into the registry and change HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila/HomeLSKPath
BTW, why did you remove ThumbCal???

you patched the Thumbcal with Ssmapa?
If yes, go and send the Ssmapa Restore of Manila
wetete, to what value should i change the HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila/HomeLSKPath ??
alesscam, i didn't use Ssmapa.
Appreciate your help
See what value? probably should not be given the value
alesscam, right now there's no value in that entry
Alternatively go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407777&highlight=Ssmapa
using Ssmapa, do as I told you ...
Restore and restore the manila
Stressless,
You should replace thumbcal.exe by poutlook.exe (probably with the windows directory path)
For parameters, use -calendar and other stuff if you need.
Have a look at http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Fo.../thread/c85bbd15-6563-4e31-8d2a-d97428d26187/
For example, \Windows\poutlook.exe in the HomeLSKPath key and "calendar -new" in the HomeLSKArguments key should get you to open a new calendar item.
Am too busy to try. Let me know if it works.
Cheers
Why do you want to get rid of thumbcal?
I fixed it.
I reinstalled ThumbCal and uchecked the option of making ThumbCal the default calendar, and then uninsatlled it again and it worked.
And i found SBSH Calendar better than ThumbCal, that's why i got rid of it.
Thanks guys for your help.

Text Message Sent Confirmation - How to disable?

Everytime I send a text message, it pops up a message letting you know that it was sent. It is extremely annoying. Is there anyway to turn it off? I went into the options and unchecked the boxes, but that didn't work.

Got under my skin too! Download CeRegEditor to your pc and sync your phone via WMDC run the CeRegEditor make connection within the program and go to tools and then unlock registry, then follow these keys HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\ change key value SMSNoSentMSG to a value of 1. Save the edit and perform soft reset. Tada no more annoyance!!! If you dont like the thought of thumbing through your registry then you can find .cab file that will preform it for you. And also you can download other programs that for the life of me I cant think of right now and install them to change this and other settings on your phone. Just do a search and youll find them. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply. That sucks that you have to do all that to get rid of this annoyance. What were they thinking when they put this message confirmation in? Wow, what a mistake.
I am pretty sure that I used HD tweak to turn it off. 2.1 - Sent notification- disabled.
Very useful app as is Schapps Advanced Config tool. Both should be on your phone.
I use "Rhodium Settings Tool" by Tom_Condom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=549135 once installed go to menu>text massaging>notifications SMS sent
