email problems - HTC Excalibur

i just got an s621 and i added my gmail account to outlook but for some reason i can't see any of my emails..it connects to the server fine and it sends/receives with no problems but i cant see any of my mail it just stays blank!
i can see my hotmail messages just fine...
running wm6 btw

you have to activate pop in gmail. and there is a setting, that you only see mails from now on.
i would also take imap to connect to google because google is not sticking to the pop3 standard.

Problem syncing Hotmail

I have not been able to sync my hotmail account to my dash all day today. Is anyone else having problems?
I am running Rickys WM 6.1, I use a gmail account and forward that to a hotmail account to take advantage of the push email with wm 6.1.
My gmail account is working fine, emails are getting forwarded to the hotmail account, and the gmail account syncs to the phone, but the hotmail account will not sync to the phone.
Anyone else having issues? any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bryan

Yes I guess it has to be something related to hotmail, cause I was having the same problems as well.
Hotmail always seems to be having problems unfortunately. Been having troubles accessing it today and the past months. Its like a 50/50 shot it works for me.
If you are using 5.99plan can't use hotmail. for test try with router wi-fi , if can do for this way your problem is the plan .for me work with connections with more speed how wifi.
with 5.99 dont work
good luck

im actually using the blackberry service on a t-mobile dealer line for data, everything works fine data wise, hotmail has always worked in the past. The data connection for the phone is not the problem as internet works (im posting this from the phone) and gmail account works fine.
thanks though
Bryan
working now
I was not able to get the hotmail account working, i guess that their server is still down, but i was able to setup a new @live.com account. That account working and push email is working. Ill check the other account in a few days to see if it goes back to working.

Yahoo Mail outgoing mail issues

I really have no idea what the problem is here. I used to be able to send emails fine when I had WM 6.0 installed. I upgraded to Kavana's 6.1 ROM which automatically found imap settings for Yahoo Mail.
Now I cannot seem to send emails but I can receive them fine. Every once in a while maybe every couple days I will be able to get a message to send out. I have tried different areas of town, recreating the email setup, even reloading the ROM. Nothing seems to help.
It's getting very frustrating not being able to send emails when I've just read an urgent one I've received!
Current settings are:
Incoming: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com (with authentication)
Any help much appreciated!
Are you using tmobile, and have you configured your by going to accessories and connection setup.

I've been having the EXACT same issues for the past 2 months! My outgoing Yahoo! mail worked fine for about 2-3 months (after flashing Kavana's 6.1), then all of a sudden none of my emails would go out. It's SOOO FRUSTRATING... I deleted my Yahoo! account, then set it up again. It worked for a day then went back to being crappy. It's gotta be an issue with Yahoo!'s outgoing servers, because Gmail works just fine via Dash.
Yes I have T-Mobile - forgot to mention that earlier - and Yes I have setup the data connection. Like I said before it works sometimes but usually it fails.
If I use the same setup on T-mobile's WM6 ROM it works fine. So something in Kavana's ROM is a little different. I have seen other postings on this forum and other forums with people having the same issue but never seen a resoltuion.
I have deleted, recreated, modified, manually setup, automatic setup, and used pretty much every configuration I could think of when setting this Yahoo! account up on Kavana's 6.1 but nothing works so far.

Actually I had that same problem with WM6. Whether or Not Emails would actually get sent was a crapshoot.so I used Y!Go
Funny you all mention this because I thought I was doing something wrong!
I had no problem with Yahoo at all until 6.1
Now I can't send OR receive mail..
Maybe Yahoo changed something?
Here's something that might help in this sending Yahoo! Mail problem. I found it out on the 'net; the solution has to do with the ports that Yahoo! uses to receive mail. I didn't want to post it until I had it running for at least a month without problems, and it seems to work.
Normally, Yahoo! uses port 25 to receive mail, but since that port is the most popular, it uses SPAM-screening routines on that port which ends up rejecting a lot of sending mail connections. But there are two other ports. One seemed to work really slow. But port 465 has worked for me for over a month, no problem at all, I can send every time.
Okay, so how to use it? Go into your Yahoo! email menu on your phone. Choose Tools > Options > Account Settings > Edit Account Setup. Press "Next" until you reach the "Outgoing (SMTP) mail server:" screen. Where it reads "smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com", add this at the end: ":465". (So the whole entry should read "smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com:465".) Go "Next" until you reach "Finish" then "Done." Then try it out.
I hope it works for you. Strangely enough, now I have occasional problems RECEIVING mail, but not sending. Oh, well, that I can live with.

XV6800 465 fix didnt work
the 465 fix didnt work with my XV6800 any other ideas?
even more weird...
I'm having the same problem, but it's only on one of my two yahoo accounts that will not send. Everthing was working fine until the upgrade to Rickywatt WM6.1. I have two different yahoo (well really SBCGLOBAL.net) accounts a business one and a personal one. I have been over them with a fine toothed comb and the settings are exactly the same, but only one of them is sending. They are both receiving just fine, but only one can send emails.
How weird is that?? I tried the 465 port change and I still get an error to "Be certain you have network coverage and try again" I'm stumped!
this should help man, i found the fix and posted it in another forum but this will do the trick.
anyone who has been having problems sending emails from yahoo or any other account try this fix, straight from our good buddies at microsoft....

Link is sending me to the wrong place
If I did this right. There is a cab file attached at the bottom somewhere that fixed my email. It is from microsoft and it's called "Windows Mobile 6.1 Hot Fix for Sending POP and IMAP E-mail" The link in the earlier post was taking me somewhere else. I hope this link takes you to the right place:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=D9D71B2E-D2DD-44F2-86E5-1E53AAD7FB7A&displaylang=en
So far this has worked for me and Rickywatt version of WM6.1...I don't know if this will work on anything but WM6.1. There is a PC(msi) version and a CAB version. I used the cab version. Hope this helps others out too.
This cab seems incompatable with NightRavens 6.1 ROM.
I also have had similar issues with Yahoo setup in 6.1. The dropdown box that should allow for a choice between IMAP4 and POP3 is grayed out - it is not an option. So they force you to use IMAP4 when seemingly none of the server settings work correctly. Has anyone has any luck with IMAP4 settings in Yahoo?
pop mail sending problems
If you know how to modify the registry then you don't need the cab. It's really easy, and one of the posts linked to the exact instructions. A few months ago I tried to get this made into a sticky since it affects everyone with the 6.1 ROMs, and not being able to send email is a pretty major problem, but the XDA admins didn't seem to think it warranted a sticky. Lame.
Anyway, here's what you do:
It is fixed by adding a registry key called "Operator" (without the quotes) to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Inbox\Settings\
Then, inside the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Inbox\Settings\Operator key you add a String Value named "OutgoingServer" with value "127.0.0.1" (again, both without the quotes.) A soft reset should be done after saving this.

Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server Settings for Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, GMail, AOL and more
the Google Gmail service offers a SMTP server (outgoing mail server) for Gmail accounts. To use the Google Gmail SMTP server, use the following information:
Google Gmail Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com
The Gmail SMTP server requires authentication (use the same settings as for the incoming mail server)
The Google Gmail SMTP Server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) on port 465.
Why & when do I need these settings?
Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, GMail and other providers are basically email services designed to provide you with email mailbox accesss directly from the web. However, going online and logging on to their sites is not always the most convenient way for reading and sending emails.
On the other hand, you have the alternative to send and receive emails through such a mailbox by using a local email client software, such as Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook, Thunderbird, Thunderbird, etc. In order to properly use it, you need to configure your email software with the incoming and outgoing mail servers of your email provider (Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo! Mail or else).
Mail Server Settings
Hotmail Settings
As other web based email services, Hotmail is using the HTTP protocol for connecting you to your mailbox. If you want to send and receive Hotmail emails using an email client software, then your software must support Hotmail HTTP access for your email account. Some email clients, such as Outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook, offer builtin support for Hotmail accounts, so you only have to select HTTP when you are asked to select your email account type and select Hotmail as the HTTP Mail Service Provider.
Yahoo! Mail Settings
Unlike Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail offers standard POP3 access for receiving emails incoming through your Yahoo mailbox, by using your favorite email client software. To setup your email client for working with your Yahoo account, you need to select the POP3 protocol and use the following mail server settings:
Yahoo Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop.mail.yahoo.com (port 110)
Yahoo Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - smtp.mail.yahoo.com (port 25)
Google GMail Settings
The Google GMail service offers email client access for retrieving and sending emails through your Gmail account. However, for security reasons, GMail uses POP3 over an SSL connection, so make sure your email client supports encrypted SSL connections.
Google Gmail Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop.gmail.com (SSL enabled, port 995)
Outgoing Mail Server - use the SMTP mail server address provided by your local ISP or smtp.gmail.com (SSL enabled, port 465)
Lycos Mail Settings
The Lycos Mail Plus service allows you to use POP3 and SMTP servers for accessing your Lycos mailbox.
Lycos Mail Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop.mail.lycos.com (port 110)
Outgoing Mail Server - smtp.mail.lycos.com or use your local ISP SMTP mail server
AOL Mail Settings
The AOL email service is a web based system, designed for managing your AOL mailbox via HTTP IMAP access. Unlike Hotmail, you can use any email client to access your AOL mailbox, as long as it supports the IMAP protocol.
AOL Incoming Mail Server (IMAP) - imap.aol.com (port 143)
AOL Outgoing Mail Server - smtp.aol.com or use your local ISP SMTP mail server
Mail.com Mail Settings
The Mail.com email service allows you to use POP3 and SMTP servers for accessing your Mail.com mailbox.
Mail.com Mail Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop1.mail.com (port 110)
Outgoing Mail Server - use your local ISP SMTP mail server
Netscape Internet Service Mail Settings
The Netscape e-mail system is web-based, which means you can access their e-mail from any Internet connection. Netscape Internet Service also supports AOL® Communicator, Microsoft® Outlook, Microsoft® Outlook Express, and other POP3 e-mail software. The outgoing mail server needs SSL support, so make sure your email client software supports SSL connections over the SMTP protocol.
Netscape Internet Service Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop.3.isp.netscape.com (port 110)
Netscape Internet Service Outgoing Mail Server - smtp.isp.netscape.com (port 25, using a secure SSL connection)
Tiscali Mail Settings
The Tiscali email service allows you to use POP3 and SMTP servers for accessing your Tiscali mailbox.
Tiscali Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop.tiscali.com (port 110)
Outgoing Mail Server - use your local ISP SMTP mail server
Freeserve Mail Settings
The Freeserve email service allows you to use POP3 and SMTP servers for accessing your Freeserve mailbox.
Freeserve Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop.freeserve.com (port 110)
Outgoing Mail Server - use your local ISP SMTP mail server
Supanet Mail Settings
The Supanet email service allows you to use POP3 and SMTP servers for accessing your Supanet mailbox.
Supanet Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop.supanet.com (port 110)
Outgoing Mail Server - use your local ISP SMTP mail server
If your email client does not support Hotmail as a Mail Service Provider or if it simply doesn't work with your mail server settings, you can use a 3rd party solution like Hotmail Popper, IzyMail, POP Peeper or Email2Pop. When using such tools, you should define your Hotmail account as a POP3 account and you will need to define your incoming mail server will as 'localhost' (or 127.0.0.1).
Even with that registry tweak I have run into outgoing Yahoo issues today with the plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com:465 server. That has always worked for me in the past - incoming still OK.
OutgoingServer case sensitive?
I think the registry key name is case sensitive.
I assume you reset your phone after setting the registry. Is it possible that you changed the case on one or more of the letters in OutgoingServer? I think that the mail program ignores the key if the case is not exact.
It works!
Just adding here that this hot fix (URL below) worked for me when I needed to fix the broken outgoing mail function for Yahoo mail on an HTC 5800 using Windows 6.1 Mobile...
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...2E-D2DD-44F2-86E5-1E53AAD7FB7A&displaylang=en
(I first connected the HTC to my laptop, then downloaded the software hot fix to the laptop and it went from there straight to the phone.)

Pop email issues.

Is anybody having issues setting up their POP3 email acounts to work. I have the Magic and my POP3 email account worked on that phone, but with this phone, when I try to sync, not thing shows. Is it b-cuz of the Hero being a European phone and me being in the U.S??

Can I synch Desire with Hotmail?

Helle guys!
I'm most likely going to buy Desire tomorrow. My HD2 changed the Lockcode automaticly today. And I'm so tired of the SMS bug and all that other things so I'm going to trash it.
My question is, can I synch Desire with my hotmail? I have everything over there, Calendar, Contacts, Mails, etc.
I love the way this function is intregrated in Leo.
Thanks for reading guys...
Yes, you can sync the desire with hotmail. I think server is pop3.live.com and smtp is smtp.live.com. I have set it up and works fine. I don't know if this is an EU only thing or USA as well..
Not too sure about anything more than the email. I have google calendar and contacts, which works best for obvious reasons..
Good luck

Hey!
Thank you dude!
I'm going to buy it then.
You can't really sync with Hotmail. The only thing you can do is receiving your emails trough pop3. You cannot sync your calendar or your contacts as there is no native hotmail or windows live app/integration for android.
What you could do is import your hotmail account into gmail and then sync your desire with gmail and you'll get your contacts and calendars and of course your e-mails. You can even send your e-mails from you gmail account with a different e-mail adress. After the import you can set your gmail account to query the pop3 hotmail server every 15 minutes to get your mails.
Did this for my girlfriend, so she can get all her mails from hotmail including contacts and calendar.

[Q] Hotmail push sync problem

Hi all,
Since 2 days i got a strange problem with my hotmail account and push settings.
Everything sets up fine but when my hotmail is @ push it keeps syncing.
This drain my battery completely also it wont recieve any mail until i sync manual. Before it worked just perfect.
Also when i am on my computer @ msn and i receive a mail msn keaps saying one new mail but it's already read on the phone!
I treid an other hotmail account i created with my phone and push settings and the problem was gone! So it's in my account or something
now i got the following problem:
I can't set it up as exchange but only as pop.
If i try an other hotmail account it works just great with exchange.
Someone knows what this can be!?
