Help Needed With Messed Splash Screen - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 Accessories

i was fumbling around with the hypercore kitchen and found a tool in a subfolder called "nb image tool". i was curious, since it suggested only a few simple clicks in order to create your own splash screen. so i flashed my creation but now i have TWO splash screens: one white HTC INNOVATION, and one OEM. the latter one can still be changed. but the first one seems to be branded into my device.
i found out that this tool was originally made for the himalaya which actually does have TWO splash screens. but i haven't found any hint how to reverse this **** again.
requesting immediate help, please!!!

This should fix it, it fixed mine

Customize Boot Screens

Hello,
I haven't been here in a long time but i recently made the switch to Rogers WM6 ROM from HTC and honestly, i have to admit - it's BLAZING FAST !!! i love the ROM. anyways, i got rid of the rogers splash screens, i was looking for the official HTC bootscreens, can someone please upload it or can someone tell me how to change my bootscreens to original HTC or to any 320 x 240 image? i have this image that i want to use as my boot screen, but i'm not exactly sure how to. Also, if someone has the HTC bootscreen image, please upload it. Thanks in advance.
When I had it loaded I grabbed all the home screens and sounds, but forgot about the boot screens. If I get a chance I will put the HTC software back on the test phone and grab them.
Try this:
HTC Splash
Rogers Splash
TMo Splash
The only one i tried before is the HTC Splash Screen at its getting a weird image once flashed..i don't know why, maybe it gets corrupted once extracted or assembled as NBH again? Well worth a try. Please make sure you load USPL first before flashing these NBH's..
I made my own screens, but how do I overwrite the files that are in the /appdata/home/ diectory?

question - is there anyway we could bring the "vibrate" mode back during startup and shutdown?

Yes, just copy to a RUU and run the RUU. This is the same one I use in my ROM.
correct me if i'm wrong but i must first need to convert it to nbh right? i do know how to do it, but just confirm for the readers.

Sorry to interrupt. You can get it at http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=101004&stc=1&d=1216742608 and just run the executable file by:
1. Make sure your device is HardSPLed (Of course you do)
2. Goto bootloader by pressing both the volume down key and reset key. You can release the reset key but not the volume down key until you see the tri-colour screen.
3. Connect the USB cable
4. Run the executable file (inside the archive) when you see USB is written on the device screen.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=99090&d=1215998363
got it from this post which just shows Touch Diamond
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407881&highlight=splash
I used the Diamond Custom Ruu by the diamond project team. Got rid of first splash screen.
It worked for me...
But there is a way of getting rid of the "Nice to see you" screen?
Go to here to get orginal htc animation on post 4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407881&highlight=splash
copy animation on to internal memory. Use Total commander to copy and paste animation onto /windows on your phone. It should paste over the 'nice to see you' animation. Reboot
if it dont work try below and redirect your registry to use the new animation.

Splashscreen update went wrong!!!

Hi everyone!
Using tools found in Buzzdev's site, I tried to change the splashscreen on my Uni, but something failed. I tried it 3-4 times with correct images (480x640 bitmap 24bit converted in rsb) but after telling me that the update is made, it makes a soft reset and the image that appears is completely messed up!
Also, before making this thing, it remained in the blank initial screen for 1-2 seconds, now it stays there for 15 seconds!!! Everytime I make a SR I fear that it's bricked!!!
Any help is very appreciated...

have you voted?
Good luck,
Take a look over here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=399403&highlight=bootscreen
I read everything in those 3ds but nothing helped me.
I tried 2 more times to change the splashscreen and I obtained another messed up image, but now the blank screen has a normal behavior: it appears for 2 seconds.
Even if I haven't received error messages I tried to install rapi.cab and SdkCerts.cab, but nothing changed. Trying to install htc_certs it says that it has to unistall the previous customization tools. Have I to continue uninstalling?
Another question: I didn't entered in bootloader mode, was I supposed to?
In edit:
@orb3000: oh yeah, I voted long time ago for our great Uni!
I add another thing: when Uni boots the image is totally messed up, but when I try to flash another image the backup is correct!
I tried to install htc_certs, but nothing changed, except that now it takes more time to boot...
Ok, here are the news:
I found this post that took me to this one.
According to Tomal's instructions, I tried to remove the first 28 byte from the .rsb header, but no program could open it, due to missing header.
I tried to change the initial offset from the batch file (without editing the .rsb file) but nothing changed, same messed up image on boot.
So question is: what am I supposed to do now? Install a rom with a different splashscreen, edit qhat I want and then revert to Tomal's rom? Seems too long to do!

As far as I know you donĀ“t have to reflash a ROM to have a new splash screen.
When I change mine just made a hard reset and voila! my new splash was there with the same ROM I was using
Good luck,
Nope.
That didn't work for me...
Any other idea?
Ok, half fixed everything.
I tried to flash my Uni with a Rom without flash disk and with a new splash screen. I used this one.
Obviously, flashing went wrong and my uni was stuck in the boot screen with a brand new splash screen! Now, I got a new splash screen with a bricked Uni...
Uff...
So I tried to enter boot loader. It did. Tried to install Tomal's 8.5, but again I obtained a bricked Uni.
I used mtty to format DOC and everything worked.
Then I installed again Tomal's 8.2 and my Uni is now working again.
But formatting DOC erased also splash screen!
So I don't have a splash screen at all.
Now, looking back I suppose that next time my ego will try to tell me that a wonderful brand new splash screen would bring my Uni to another level of power, I'll take one finger of mine and close it in the first door I find... That would solve everything.

Tomal, you're great!
My idea was to use the splashscreen attached, but I was also wondering what is necessary to do for install it into a nk.nbf file.
You said that the header (the first 28 byte) has to be removed, then the .rsb file has to be inserted on the address 0x3f00000, but this is the (absolute?) address on the Uni memory, I don't know how it is managed on the .nbf file...
So, if I convert to .bin (or something like it) the .nbf file and with an hex editor I insert on the correct address the image everything should be fine?
My next question is: how the upgrade utility decides to update or not the splashscreen? Seems that something other has to be changed...
That's one of my screens, it's ready for flashing as you can see here:

Infact I took it from yours!
But, as specified in the other posts, with Tomal's rom seems impossible to use the standard procedure...
Perhaps the only way is to insert the splash screen directly in the rom and flash everything at once.

Nope, doesn't work. I have the same wonderful fully black splash screen...

And thank you again for your great support!

Nope, don't be upset. I have another way. But you need to consider a HR, so do a backup before start.
Attached you'll find the splash and flashing tools. nk.nbf only contains the splash so your rom will be untouched.
Burn the splash in the regular way...
Once again, nothing good...
I used your last method, flashed the splashscreen, only soft-reset the device, the splashscreen appeared correctly, but it didn't boot.
So, I flashed your 8.5 standard (the special one has rltoday, but I don't like it so much...) and correctly finished the procedure. Once again, device didn't boot.
Used mty, format DOC, flashed again and now it works... Without splashscreen!
So, according to me the only way to restore a splashscreen on my device is to flash another rom which doesn't use flashdisk, change bootscreen and flash back to yours (for me is the best).
Too hard for me: flashing device contains a little danger every time you do it. It's time to leave my Uni with a rom for more than 3 days!!!
Tomal, once again, thank you for your support!!!!!!

How to change White HTC boot Logo

Hi I would like to change the white HTC Boot Logo to a Nexus One Logo,
and guys thanks for all the help,
Check the 'Themes' section.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696235
http://android.modaco.com/content/h...om/309442/boot-animations-updated-12-06-2010/
what if you don't root it?
You won't be able to change it without root.
Moved as not Desire Development.
hey i think he wants to remove the 'htc' that appears before the bootanimation opens....i think it cannot be changed as it's the manufacturers logo as i see from youtube videos the droid and nexus has it too
Nope he only want's to change bootanimtion which is possible only with root, and htc logo you are talking about will be never possible to change(as you said)
NEVER is a pretty concrete word for having not done any research on the matter. I am assuming this because the boot logo is something that has been changed since back in the days of the original G1. It does require access to the bootloader, but the basic concept is demonstrated:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833667
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794638
Uhm.. you CAN change the splash animation too!
You need to be S-OFF tho, but after that its a piece of cake with the Android Flasher util; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794638

[Q] Splash Screen Assistance Needed

Sorry if this should be in Questions and Answers, but...
I recently flashed a couple of ROM's to my Tilt 2 that introduced a sub or secondary splash screen when the BRGD info appears... now, I can't get rid of the secondary splash on my phone. The stock ATT rom will put back the blue and white ATT splash, but the sub splash still appears when the ROM and RADIO information appear in the lower left of the screen.
I've tried removing the secondary splash from the "offending" ROM(s) using HTC's Rom Editor and reflashing, but no luck. I've also tried flashing a custom splash, but that only replaces the first one.
I have searched for hours through the forums, and read up on creating custom splashes and the Nbh image tool, but my head is spinning and I still have no definitive answer. What I've come to loosely "understand" is that the Tilt 2 does not use a first and second splash screen like some other phones, but the ROM(s) introduced the secondary splash that I can not get rid of now.
Any help is appreciated - not a true problem, just an annoyance. And being an Engineer, it's driving me up the wall just knowing that the stock ROM does not cure the condition.

I'm sorry I'm not the one to actually walk you through a step by step process to reflash the new splash screen..I recently changed mine, but I had help....yeah, the whole nbh thing...sheesh (lol)....anyways, before I flashed the rom I have now, I was running the stock AT&T rom , and when I was using that rom, I was using an animated Windows 7 splash screen, which I happened to actually like a lot...the installation of it was very easy as you it just requires downloading the cabs (I think their were two cab files I had to install...and voila!!...The cabs edited the registries for whatever needed to be done...also, I had to install the Advanced Configurator app...I'll see if I can pull up the links for the splash screen and the configurator apps, each of those links will have better instructions than I can ever give you...and remember, I'm an idiot when it comes to doing things on these devices, and if I figured it out, you, an engineer, should be able to do it blindfolded...drunk, and asleep...

Try this. I too flashed a splash screen on my Tilt 2 that contained a "SubSplash". Once this is done, you will need to create splash screens from that point forward with a "SubSplash" or you will always get that previously flashed SubSplash screen.
I have included instructions on creating a splash ans subsplash that work for me on my Tilt 2.
Try if you wish...
I think I messed up, you are referring to what I think is called the boot screen...the first screen that pps up when you power on the device...what I posted wont change that...listen to wmg316 he knows what he's doing...lol
and please forgive my not helping
Thanks, guys - I appreciate the help. I figured I was in for creating new splash screens now, I thought about extracting the stock splash and using it for both splash and sub.
Heading out of town for the weekend, so I won't get to try anything until Sunday night - I'll let you know how it turns out.

Thanks, wmg316 - I found some time late tonight and it worked like a charm. I figured flashing a dual custom splash (or the same splash twice) was what I needed to do, just wasn't sure on how to use the NBH utility. Your instructions were very easy to follow and it took no time at all to wipe out the old pesky sub splash.
Thank you very, very much for your assistance!
