Can I update my ROM from SD card? - P3300, MDA Compact III ROM Development

my htc is a brick, I try to update my ROM but couldn't, invalid vender ID
The question is simple, Is there any way to update my ROM using my SD card instead of USB connection?
Is there any application like uspl but that can be run with a bricked phone?

Yes, there is: Artemis SD Card Flashing but if your HTC is bricked, I don't know if it work... You can try it.

It works - oh, yes. Used this method many times.

If I want to flash a new rom using theSD card method, do I have to do cid unlocking first? If so, is there anyway to do this without using the usb port?

Best to go with a base ROM from your carrier, then CID-lock isn't an issue. The wiki says SuperCID devices can use any ROM image...don't know if this helps in your case.

[Q] - Do I need to root my Desire?

hi all,
i just got myself a Telstra Desire. have been using HD2 for a while and decided to go onto the Android bandwagon.
In HD2, i know what to do for flashing ROM but not in android.
my question here is do i need to "root" my Desire if i want to install this ROM onto my Desire "RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe"?
My main purpose is to remove all the Telstra branded bloatware on my Desire.
Thank you for replying.
You do not need to root to install a RUU, you will need to create a gold card (search Google)

If you run into difficulty with creating the Gold Card, try using the Gold Card tool in my sig below.

I'm in the same situation. I just gave my wife a Desire for Xmas and want to know if it is necessary to root the device to flash a custom ROM. And if so, can I use unrevoked3 to do so?
Yes, to flash a custom (unsigned) rom, then you will need to root your desire, you can use unrEVOked for this. If you are branded, then all you require to flash official (signed) roms (like the official ruu posted above) is a Gold Card to unlock your phones CID.

Download an RUU, pull the rom.zip out of it, take ur sd card outta ur phone, connect it to your computer, rename that rom.zip to PG32IMG.zip and put it on the root of your sd card. put sd card in phone, vol down and power to get into hboot mode, following instructions on the phone.

You can use ANY RUU for the INC2 (VivoW)
once you are that, you can just get the OTA and get up to date or just get it back to stock and ship it out.. no need for OTA
link for RUU

When you get it done, maybe make this thread a how to? Change the name and then its in one place.
Since you did post this question in the wrong place ;-)
But for real, updating this op with your results would be awesome for others

if you can't charge your phone, Radioshack's got a nifty recharger that can charge the battery (removed from the phone). I had to do the same thing, but I just ended up flashing with the stock build and left it rooted. You can also use dropbox to transfer the file

i did this just to do it and test works amazing and the guide is VERY detailed
Nevermind.....
So is this essentially a "unroot"? Just clarifying for future if ever need to do this as well.
If you truly want to return to stock, including the bootloader, etc, you can fire up the executable RUU from here. That is what I did to return it.

newbie here,
I have 2.3.4 which I will use a tool to downgrade the bootloader and use revolutionary (I promise to research more into this before I do anything ) but I just wanted to verify somethings.
What is the difference between the restore provided in the link first post by OP and the second more detailed post immediately after?
Will flashing the RUU reverse everything including S-OFF and my downgrading hboot (still learning what these terms mean.) Essentially, will it bring everything back the way it was when I first got the phone?

[Q] Android Revolution HD 8.1 install question

Hello, i have 2 questions before installing this rom on my unlocked AT&T htc one m8.
1. can i put the rom on my external micro sd card, and not in virtual SD card, so i can flash it from the external sd card.
2. Most important, I got my htc one m8 from AT&T in the U.S, but i unlocked it, and put viper rom on it. and i'm using it in europe.
Now i want to try this rom, but i missing important info:
In the install process, can i chose "htc one (internional)" - As i using this in EU, and not the second option? (U.S AT&T).
Or this is not recommended, and might hurt my device?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards

For question 1 yes you can install it from ext-sd but internal sd is safe. Also you can try from usb-otg.
For qs-2 It wont hurt your device. If you are supercid you can choose any one you like. But I would recommend that you try the international option.Best of luck in flashing.

Thank You, i really don't know that there is a SD Card slot, because I had only Nexus Devices before.
ADB is not working, the only answer on any adb command is : device not found.
But now there is one more serious Problem : the Pad don't charge any more and it's complete empty; does anybody know what to do ?
THX for your Help !
