Hey I simply had a quick question regarding if you think this HTC ROM builder program will have support for the CMDA Vogue Touch as it does for the GSM Elf Touch?
Thanks a lot, Jim.

You need to be confident in firmware-disassembling to properly extract and understand this information. As I have not Vogue in my hands I can't help you with this. Try to ask somebody in the forum to dig out and provide this infos.

i was wondering if anyone out there knows exactly what to do for the last paragraph there?
it would be awesome to have that rom building tool working for the vogue i think, especially for those who really dont know how to cook a rom at all.
im not sure if heres referring to anything more than a prepit.bat of a vogue nbh, though i would guess its more complicated than that.
anyone? thanks.

What's the point? I'd rather leave it up to those who know how to make a good, stable rom kitchen, than attempt it on my own.
--James

i dont think there is much risk here, seeing as how you can always re-flash again. it would just be a great learning tool, as well as a great developing tool for those who are interested.
cooking roms can take an awful lot of work, and this looks like it could really clean things up, not to mention its GUI would help a lot of noobs get started.

I may be wrong, but it sounds like he's referring to the template used by nbhtool that basically automates nbhgen so that you don't have to update the configuration txt?

Cingular Push To Talk on Windows Mobile 6.0

Apologize beforehand for the n00bness. This is my first post and I'll try and keep it clean. I've been trying to get push to talk working but for the life of me, it's no go. Originally the plan was for me to try to get it working with Custel's Windows Mobile Black Cingular Edition, but I can't figure out how to get it from the regular Cingular edition to Custel's GREAT cooked version. The way's i've tried are as such:
Taking out everything from the Extended Rom and identifying the PTT *registry?* cab and installing it.
Going into the Device\Windows\PTT and the Device\Windows\ Folder and copying all the necessary files
Nothing seems to be working. On another note, I can't seem to get VoiceBuffer to copy over. Any ideas? Thanks in advance guys! And the march continues~
Even if we can get PTT working, would we only be able to use it with other cingular customers? Or people with other carriers also?

Only cingular customers.
If you search you will find your answer as to why it does not work. If it was that easy it would have been functional a long time ago.
Hey Custel!
Thanks for Cingular Black!
Yea i'm still trying to search and figure everything all out. I feel technologically retarded right now.

No problem, going to have cingular version based off of my rom tomorrow some time as well .
If it has PTT I'll love you. The Cingular Black Edition you put out is almost PERFECT for me, except the whole PTT thing, it's driving me mad!
So I have been searching for two days and I can't find the PTT install cab. Where is it, I just did a WM6 ROM and I would like to use PTT as I use it for work. Anyone able to help

yes...
YOU CANNOT USE PTT ON WM6!!
as it requires editing the rilgsm and ril.dll's that control the radio interface layer (RIL) for PTT to work...
Well...... um that was nice of you. Thats all anyone needed to say. Thanks for the subtle answer

the ril's from wm5 work on wm6... the app will also run on wm6... there is just one slight problem... no one can get the PTT button to work... however there may be a solution soon, the cing/att Kaiser rom that was posted by incognitho is wm6 and has PTT.. people are working on porting that over to hermes, if all else fails i keep hearing that att will have a wm6 rom for hermes in july (i dont think it will be for the public, but i could be wrong)
Quite honestly, PTT would be nice but not necessary for me. I currently have an LG 400 on my business plan (6 phones) and well...I don't need it on my 8525 right now, except to stop carrying 2 phones with me.

Just wondering about the backgrounds on some of the cooks on here. I've briefly looked up how to cook a ROM and yeah, it's way beyond me.
So was wondering the backgrounds on the chefs here at XDA. Cheers.

Since the ROM is for a Kaiser then no It wont work. ROMs contain more than just the OS, they have the drivers and files required for that particular device also.
Thanks for the reply. It is really a great looking ROM. I wish Dutty would make one for the Hermes.

dump the ROM and then use it's components with a kitchen to create your own (Shaminax does something similar with Schaps ROMs)

Yes but porting from one device to another takes a little genius for all the parts to fall together, at least from my experience.

how true that is! Might be better off just installing the dutty's apps via cab. Then again why not just wait tell poorlyducky uploads his new vista themes and use them instead. I can't wait to see a Faria (any word on that Dr. ) or K rom with the Vista themes.
Dumping a ROM and cooking is still a little over my head at this point. I'll keep enjoying all the great recipes the chefs here are cooking up.
Wow!!
Damn that is a nice looking rom.
Wonder what would be required by Dutty to create a hermes version too for us less knowledgeable folk???
My Kaiser is a company owned phone so I can't play around with it and, as much is it erks me, must run the official rom. Ahhh I hate official roms they suck.

Umm, last I checked, there is at least one, perhaps two, hermes ROMs that are using the same build as the keiser ROM from Dutty, and I'm pretty sure that I've seen a cab or two that install the keiser stuff (com manager, dialer, etc) on the hermes.
Unless you are looking for a nice all-in-one package, everything is already around, just have to look for it.

This thread will tell you which ROM to choose.

HAHA that got your attention huh?
I just thought I'd start a thread for people who might be considering upgrading to Windows Mobile 6.0 or 6.1. You should post why you like a certain rom, which features you like, and what could be better.
Since (and I am pretty sure on this) that all of the builds are based on "chunks" of the OS taken from other phone's distributions, there isn't a "hermes specific" guide to improvements that these newer OSs give the user.
So if you feel like it, post away. Hopefully if anything, this will serve as a basis for which rom to choose.
Please don't spam the thread with posts agreeing with other users. I didn't intend for this thread to be a discussion. Try not to post based off other posts, and please
DON'T QUOTE ANYONE!
This means if someone says "I like schaps because its purple and neat looking", don't post "YA IT SURE IS". Just post AGAIN stating that it is purple, as well as what else you like about it.
Reserved for future use
ROM: CRCs STABLE (v11.2; 17-Jul)
This is a great rom to use. Battery life is excellent, and my phone never hangs / crashes. (hence the stable). I like that it accepts dialer customizations (3G dialer from the kaiser for instance) without making you go through a graphic nightmare trying to get it to work.
I *have* noticed some WIFI issues however... Not being able to connect to networks that I KNOW are open. It will say you are connected, however you won't be able to transfer. This however is only a very rarely encountered issue, and usually at WIFI hotspots in restaurants and hotels. It ALWAYS works on my home network.
Rom seems on par with most when speed is considered. It is not either slow, nor exremely fast. Quick enough to do most any task with less than a 1 second wait.
I would definately recommend this rom for use by anyone who is considering their first upgrade, or anyone who wants a very useable rom with a good basic set of programs and tools.
Thank you for bringing this up
Personally, I would say CRCinAU's roms have been the benchmark for other chefs to 'match' or 'better'
These days abusalza is that chef. Again these are my personal opinion, you really NEED TO FLASH ALL THE ROMS, to find what you like and what you don't.
No one can tell me what I will like and what I won't like, as it is down to preference.
So, in other words, .... this thread is pretty useless
in here is a link to rom benchmarks (great job be veyka) to assist U:
>>>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=419158
Why did you post that? tell me, is there anywhere out there where there is a "consumer reports" type of ROM review?
Rom choice is.. very much what you like.
I can tell you from exp, and I have flashed almost every rom here, as im sure many other people can, that its the ONLY way to know what to use.
There isnt a bad rom, just one that isnt right for you.
since joining this community, i have flashed many roms. I have flashed almost every release during that time, it would exceed 100 roms.
now, what i have noticed is that it doesnt matter which rom i chose, i end up putting the applications on it which i like. Some of the roms have these and others do not. so really, find what it is you like, get the cabs for it, and almost all roms are the same.
there is the stability and speed of roms which is different. but with a 400mhz processor, the speed is barely noticeable unless you change the pagepool.
There is one rom that i always return to when i am away for a while, being Berds 4.31 SS
I find there is a huge difference in speed and battery drain between different WM6.1 roms.
I would personally hold up CRC and PDAcorner as the best two out there atm.
(main difference is if you like your rom vanilla or not)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=415198 has a rollup on very useful stuff.
bepe's kitchen is in there download and read the entire thing.
download every hermes kitchen you can find and just start messing with stuff.. RGU's are all registry entries. modify and open xml's to see what they do. and just start poking around, eventually (3 months) you'll get a working almost stable build! Every change you make be sure to note it incase you need to go back and correct.. Also note what you did to fix stuff.
Then when you have questions PM and i'll try and help as much as i can but i'm still new.
Or search and bug the crap out of people. at least thats how i did it.
Also the Hypercore kitchen has a good manual with it.. On porting, the noob way for porting is easyportoven, otherwise search xip and sys porting and there is a nice thread on it..
The rest is just trial and error.

WM6.5 Clean and uncustomized? Is it available?

I've been looking for new rom to suite my diamond.
I want 6.5 cause of the improved behavior of scrolling and since its a little more fingerfriendly in the menus.
The issue is that every rom is so tweaked that after 5Mins I get memory usage of 90%!
Therefore I'd like to find a basic WM6.5 that hasnt been touched and tweaked,
So I can use it with my own software customizations and thats all.
I dont like the tweaks so much since it kills the memory and cause problems to softwares like IGO and Opera which needs a bit more memory.
Thanks!
looking for same here..
I have responded to both of you guys privately on a recommended ROM so as that we don't offend other chefs here.

im sorry to ruin all the party but ive tried the rom you reccomended, and it aint such a memory saver too!
I had it yesterday, this rom is *loaded* with tweaks.

i've never noticed big differences with or without all the tweaks, ever "official" just with tf3d2 is fine for me
Use lobsterdave's easy to follow kitchen and cook your own.
Much easier and you won't have anything you don't need.
as the post above states
make it yourself....that way you get what you want...and not what a chef thinks you want.

Im sure you're well aware that both WM6.5 and the tf3d2 (for diamond anyway) are both in beta/experimental stages (Hence, there is no such thing as 'official 6.5' atm), and that even if you don't tweak them they are bound to have memory leaks? (tf3d was a memory hogger for 6.1 btw INMHO) Just the fact that you found no 6.5 rom to suit your needs of more free ram, is already a clue dude.

I think you're misunderstanding.
You don't need a base ROM. It's all included in the kitchen along with all the packages. You can of course create your own packages and add what you want to the kitchen.
Then after you've selected what you want in your kitchen and what you don't want you can cook it into a ROM. Before you cook you don't have a base ROM, you have a whole load of files in their raw format ready for packaging into the ROM.
As I said, use lobsterdave's kitchen which is exceptionally easy to follow and has instructions.
Where can i get lobsterdave's kitchen?
