Hello All, excuse me for repeating probably something already stated (I did check the forums out)
Ive just got a HTS universal and have many years experience with both this forum and HTC devices.
I have looked through your great guides on CID Unlocking so I can put a new WM6 rom on my device, but it seems like a nightmare ! G3 / G4 device, may brick it if you do someting wrong ? download and install 2 ROMS and then 17 instructions? just before I go through all that (which I read on the WIKI. Can you confirm there is no easier way to put custom ROMS on the device? I have not had to do this with previous devices thanks to POF's tutorials and scripts.... SPV / XDA's I have owned.
Any help would be most appreciated even it is your a NOOB!

apologies for the Q but I'm new to this smartphone world!
Does anyone have a complete idiots guide to unlocking an Orange SPV M600, then maybe updating the ROM to the JAMin? I've searched high and low and can't really find everything I think I need.
Any pointers to the resources (ROMS and the correct versions thereof and tools needed would help.
I've found various ROMS, and they seem to come with installshield install wrappers but a friend tells me he thinks the ROM images themselves may need to be editted in order to work with different vendor handsets? IS that correct? IF so how do I do it or where can I find a "fixed" ROM?
The readme file with a Prophet Asian ROM was self explanatory about the process, but I think only covered an upgrade on a Prophet handset. I'm worried about ending up with a costly plastic paperweight.. :shock:
Any advice gratefully received!

I just picked up an HTC 6800 unit branded the P4000 from Telus. It came with WM5 and I would like to load WM6 on it. I've been reading lots around here trying to get all the tools and information I need to move forward but more than anything I'm nervous that I will brick my phone. I know my phone is very new and I'm not sure if these tools will work on my model or not?
From what I understand I need to use the CID Unlock to allow me to upgrade my ROM and Radio for WM6.
I think with a little trial and error that I have enough knowledge to get this working it's just like I said I'm not sure if these tools will work on my phone.
Can someone please tell me if this will work or give me some links to other posts that might help.

DO NOT UPGRADE with WM6 in this forum! the phone you have is the Herald which is not the same as the Hermes. If I am right yours has a 200mhz chip and the keyboard slides out to the right. If you upgrade with the Hermes WM6 it will brick your device.

Dear All,
I wonder if someone can give me a definitive answer, I've read posts saying that if you want to use another vendors ROM then you have to unlock first as in the old days but I have also read that the following ROM installs straight off without unlocking.
I have downloaded the following from HTC SEA site: RUU_Artemis_DOPODASIA_WWE_3.7.707.1_4.1.13.30_02.69.90_Ship.exe and would like to install it without bricking my phone! As it is a legit ROM I'm happy to give it a go but I thought I'd check here first.

You still have to unlock using USPL.
The only ROM's you can flash without unlocking would be UK T-Mobile ones, because they will match your CID lock.

How are ya? sorry for the english, hope you can read it good.
I just wanted more info about the CID unlocking tools availible on the internet today......
I read like two days in this LARGE! forum to search for tools to unlock CID for G4. I saw already really IMPRESSIVE! things managed by some people, I just can't explain how great these people are that can make programs like flash Rom without having it Cid-Unlocked!
But......what i find strange: Is it really so difficult to get a G4 Cid-Unlocked? Because the G3 has no problems doing this, and also can Imei Check do it without a problem. What are they doing different that this does work? and is it not possible to make a similar program like that without the Imei check? (I don't mean to copy this program from them!)
I just ask this because i really want to know, I'm not a noob in software and hardware, but in PDA/MDA/pocket PC or whatever I am!
I hope someone can take the time for me to explain this?

It would be helpful to know what device you have, because the DiskOnChip G3 and G4 are used in a variety of devices (eg. prophet, wizard, universal..).

I have a T-mobile MDA Vario G4 so I think its a Wizard. with Windows Mobile 5.
It's CID-Locked and want to put WM6 on it.

You can install WM6 by using this tool.
It is a patched SPL that only runs in the memory of your wizard, and which gives you a temporary superCID.

I have recently bought a HTC Touch Diamond from Vodafone that came with ROM v1.93.479.3 WWE & Radio v1.00.25.05. There is no Vodafone 'brand' on it and no changes to the ROM as I have seen to other Vodafone users. My questions exactly are:
- How do I know if my device is CID locked?
- Will installing another ROM void my waranty?
- I have seen topics about.. bricking the device. What does that mean exactly and how can I prevent it.

As I know all deviced from manufaturer at CID locked. Unlocked CID Security enable u to flash your device with different radio from another device.
In order to install a cooked rom, your device must be Hard-SPL first, i think our developers has patch for both GSM and CDMA device. so please search the forum.
I think the best way to prevent bricking your device would be LOTS OF READING.
