Where can I get a notepad? - HTC Excalibur

I want some sort of software where I can take notes for the dAsh... are there any that are already out?

If you have Microsoft Onenote for your PC you can always put Onenote Mobile on... It doesn't have very many features but is pretty ok and syncs with your desktop well.

you can get one of the 6.1 variants which all include OneNote mobile.

Alternative to Outlook

I don't use outlook and when deciding on an alternative was looking for something which would allow me to Sync with Win Mobile.
I now use Thunderbird which has e-mail, tasks and calendar ( http://www.mozilla.org/support/thunderbird/ ) and have found this free programme for syncing to my device - http://www.finchsync.com/.
Easy to install and setup and works a treat.

I am using it with WM5 and the latest IMate ROM.
Couldn't get on with finchsync, everytime it said that it had updated my contacts, when clearly it hadn't... Birdiesync worked first time, was fast, and did a very sweet job of carrying out its intended task .

This has the advantage over Finchsync in that it sync automatically with activesync, but at the time of writing it does not deal with the calendar, which to me is more important.
I have never had a problem with it not updating contacts, it always works for me, and $19.95 is not worth it for just contacts.
It may be worth reconsidering if they release a calendar update that works.
I am using it with Windows Mobile 5.
how do you compare Finchsync to Outlook?

correct me if im wrong .. I believe this is the latest windows live v10.6.33.0600, click on my link below my signature to get the latest version. theres a lot of other stuff as well.
There are 2 newer versions then the one provided in the link above, but they do not include Live Messenger. They are 10.6.38 and a 10.6.40. If you need Live Messenger then the 10.6.34.800 is the newest version.
Here is the official link off of Microsofts website.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/mobile/wl/download-en-us.mspx
I also learned something new which is probably the cause of all my recent WM Live problems on 6.1 ROMS. On 6.0 ROMS I could install it on the storage card, but on 6.1 ROMS it was completely jacking up my phone.
Q: Can I install this product on a Storage Card?
A: No, Windows Live can currently only be installed to your device’s internal storage. Storage cards are not supported for this application as it extends several Windows Mobile features.
and the beta version use to aloow you to send a nudge from your device
not anymore bastards! loved that feature!

Thank you soooo much!!!!
I re-flashed my phone removing windows live+messenger from it because data plans here in NZ cost a small fortune (and i wanted a lighter rom for flashing), only to discover I could connect to my home wireless with 6.1 (and couldn't with the old 5.0 on my apache)
Thank you so much for the .cab for live+messenger. Damn microsoft removing it from the download. VERY UNCOOL!!!!

I have tried everything but I can't get messenger working the way it's supposed to.
I have the Verizon branded HTC Touch Pro, which doesn't ship with wlm. I've been able to get the one of MS's site (with no wlm) and it works fine. But no wlm. So I tried the "fixed" cab install, which installs and the program shows in the list of apps. But when I click it it doesn't do anything. The interface also gets screwy and theirs like artifact-lagging from menus. The first time I got it running, it showed up on the today screen and loaded my live ID, but just wasn't responding to my input. I unistalled and have tried it again but now the button for the app doesn't even do anything. Click, no response.
Help!
this is not a custom ROM, it's the stock wm6.1 pro for a "ralph".

does anyone have a tested version that works with 6.5
Im gettin a weird message by setting up windows messenger.
I installed it, and tried to run messenger, then this message appears:
"The Windows live id service requires a certificate, but yours isnt working. you can probably fix this by updating the time and date in your device´settings. Afer you do that, try connecting again."
I tried change date and time, but it wont work.
Anyone an idea?

Text Messaging through PC?

I've done a little research into this and I'm wondering if there's an application to use that I can send text messages through my PC when my S620 is connected?
I found a Microsoft SMS program that seems to only work with non-smart phones. I would think they especially make an app for Windows Mobile phones if they have one for plain old cell phones.
Any know anything?
hey there
There's a product called TrueConnect but it aint free. Look for MyMobile which is almost the same, but ya cant text (that i know off) using it. If anyone knows any different, post a reply please.
DashWire allows it and it's free...

Something to replace MS Notes

I am looking for a software that is similar to MS Notes, but offers more functionality and user-friendliness. Any recommendations?
OneNote
Personally, I use OneNote Mobile
Use this http://www.evernote.com/
I'm using PhatNotes it's ok. Better font/layout control and able to organize, color-mark notes into categories etc. Maybe a bit old school but works fine on Touch HD. Not free though.

i also use Phatnotes because you can get it to sync with Outlook without losing the outlook colors. But its not a great program. I used to have a Palm Treo and there was great notes software out there.

I second that. Best notes application as notes are stored on the server and synced to the device.
I also use PhatNotes and think it is a really good program. It does everything I need it to do...far better than the stock MS notes.

[Q] Any Solution for Outlook 2010 not syncing with WM6.5?

There is a known Microsoft problem (they acknowledge it, but don't pretend to be working on it) that WinMo 6.5 will not sync with Outlook 2010 64 bit through WMDC.
Does anyone know of a solution or workaround?
Thanks

Use x86 version instead. There is no longer support for WM devices or services.

Thanks a lot for the response.
You helped me on another thread also!
I'm under the impression I would have to change the entire Office Suite to x86 - is that so? I'm nervous to do anything directly to Office because I bought my laptop with it preinstalled and don't know if I can reinstall it if I have a problem.
I was wondering if there is either another program I could sync with. Also perhaps there is something online I could sync with and then sync my outlook to that.
Thanks

I'd check to see if it is installed in the C:\Program Files (x86) folder first. Occasionally it is also installed there as well for compatibility. If not, then You might want to look into other syncing solutions.
