No, I'm not asking if Orange have released a WM6 ROM, what I'm wandering is now that me and Mozzer have both extracted the Orange WM5 roms from the M700 would it be possible to use the Orange specific parts of this ROM and cook them together with a WM6 rom to create a sort of Orange specific WM6 version?
Might be wishful thinking? I'm asking cos it took me long enough to get the ROM dumping to work, so wouldn't dream of having a go at this!

Just which "Orange specific" parts are you referring to? Can't say I've even been considering this because I'm actually on Voda as my service provider so been concentrating on removing all the Orange crud that I don't want/need!!
Surely there's really only the Orange today plugin and network specifics plus the ext. rom and possibly the radio rom that are "Orange specific"... all of which are easily swapable??
Giz a bit more idea where you're thinking lies with this request and I'll gladly look into it... Personally I'm still messing around with WM5 speed-up and stabilty issues for my next "cooked" rom release, but being rather a pedant for detail it's taking a while b4 I'm going to release anything and I rather think that Dopod will beat me to it with a "kosher" WM6 release for Trinity which may just blow the current crop of cooked ROM's out the water!

the bits I was thinking of were the software that Orange give you for free on the phone, but not the crappy Orange today screens etc.. but mainly the files around the user agents and how the phone is identified to Orange on the internet. Mainly to access the Orangeworld website cos its quite good for getting quick football results. If you dont use an Orange ROM and access the site you only get a text version of it, which is one of the reasons I flashed back to my old ROM.

b) A black model Orange SPV M700 "WM6" Cooked ROM (including the standard free software, presets and orange today plugin along with HTC TouchFLO & Homeplug) also with office apps such as a Hybrid version of AX3L ROM with LVSW ROM (as the splash is very cool!!) -- as in the very latest version June 2007.

lol you dont want much personally the Orange Rom sucks big time. why anyone would want to go back to it is beyond me. mun, LVSW or AX3L's roms are far superior.

can you post a link to the default Orange ROM you've extracted for WM5 please? I've been having a play around with the roms available here, but with mixed result - it'd be nice to know I can always flash back to 'old faithful'

orange tv registry fix
in case you have not got it workin yet,there is a registry hack which should get you orange tv and identify you as an orange user.
i have got it working on the lvsw rom. and here it is.
HKLM\Security\Internet Explorer\User Agent modify the custom value “PPC; 240×320; SPV M700; OpVer 19.117.2.737.
it worked for me.then goto your orange tv page and all should work.
hope it helps! make sure to restart your trinny after the mod.

I have a cingular 8525, needless to say I'm on MEdia Net. I'm running Cutesl's v2.5 full edition. I'm a rom flashing fool no mater what rom I use I cannot play news clips or anything else unless I use the wm5 on htc web site. I have read this forum wiki and many others. I understand I the realone player which I cannot download from Mediafire on my ppocket pc.
I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem.
I WISH SOMEONE COULD PROVIDE A DETAILED GUIDE FFOR THIS, It would be much appreciated.

download custel's cingular settings cab file. and also download custel's cingular aplications cab.
Too bad for me, the applacation files are one Mediafires server as for the other files I did download those. For some reason I cannot download from mediafire on the 8525 all I really need is the video cab's I would think.

I hope it´s so stable as the original one. If you find a bug, please feel free to report. I will do my best to solve the problem, but I have to say I´m not a hardcore cooker, I didn´t have the know how of them.

General question: Why has nobody suggested collaborative ROM development yet?
Somebody sets up an SVN/CVS and every member of the team can contribute registry fixes, new packages or new translations.
That´s a graet idea. But how can we do this?
It works like this:
we sign up for a free SVN provider like the ones listed here:

For those who do not know what SVN is: it is usually used for software projects with many people. You set up a central repository where every file and its history is stored.
Developers can then check out the entire project (or parts) to their PC and modify stuff locally. When they have done something useful, they can "commit"(upload) their changes to the repository for all to see/review/improve.
One person would have to be in charge of actually building the "official" ROM.
The benefits are:
- multiple people can work on one ROM
- knowledge and ROM sources are shared and public so even if someone leaves, other can pick it up
- we can track changes to files by looking at their history. important for newly introduced bugs ("we know it worked in revision 5 so what did we change between revision 5 and now")
- we have distribute backups (everyone has a working copy) in case of HDD failure, provider deleting the SVN and so on
I'm willing to write a short tutorial and set up the SVN if someone can send the "source code" (kitchen) for a preferably German ROM.
Do you think a 500MB limit would be too restrictive?

Thank you for your efforts to get a german rom startet. I have installed it and using it for several days.
Problems I have:
- imap outlook connection is broken when not connected at usb. cannot syncronize with mobile data connection
- iexplorer on mobile data connection not working (htc home plug and opera browser and openvpn connection working)
- bluetooth sim access module not working with vw passat (was not with wm5 before, too).
- screen calibration wizard starts every reboot
Perhaps you have a hint for the first two issues.

You can get rid of the calibration by deleting Welcome from Windows/Autostart.
It should still be fixed in the ROM.

I tested it and it works quite well. I found out that start-menu text is still english (but now issue for me )
Further on wondering about that the screen calibration wizard starts again after each power on. I found nothing to disable.
I'm looking for a possibility to add MS Live Messenger Mobile and a weather plug in at the start screen.
beside that I installed : Nimbuzz, Keypass, PocketTwit, Facebook Mobile and Opera Browser - no problems found, no mem leaks - great job !!!!

I flashed it today:
It is a funny mix between english and german. Since the kitchen is released we can work together to translate it further.
3G did not seem to work (I only got the G icon and browsing was very slow)
27,54Mb free memory after install which is quite good for WM6.5 afaik.
After a reboot 3G works but on every soft reset it does the Windows initialization thing. Does nobody else have this problem?
EDIT: I manually fixed the Calibration/Initialization problem on reset by removing Welcome from the Windows\Autostart folder.
I have tested both your rom and the 9.9.1 rom from narshorn. I posted a short summary concerning both your roms:

Misstin BT icon in today screen
Hello everybody, I installed the current version and I miss the BT icon in the today screnn. The option is switch on (WIFI shown), but on the screen is a white square.
