Help installing ROM from SD - Touch CDMA Windows Mobile ROM Development

Can someone tell me how to load a ROM from an SD card? I was able to do it on my Titan by extracting the image from the .exe, renaming it and saving it to a FAT32 formatted SD card and booting from it. Is the process the same with Vogue? What should the file be renamed to? Thanks so much in advance.

same process-rename to voguimg.nbh

Ok, so how to get the phone to actually load the image. I have tried to press the combo of top power button and camera puts the phone in bootloader mode, but doesn't load the rom which is in \Storage Card\voguimg.nbh

1st format card in fat32- load VOGUIMG.nbh- i think it has to be in caps just like that. thats what works for me. then top power+camera+reset on bottom.

My card was formatted with fat32, I tried renaming the nbh file. Still no luck. Possibly because I have a 4GB sdhc card? Maybee the bootloader can't see it. I'll try that monday when I go into work and get my 2gb card. Anyone else have any ideas?

would not work with my 4gig either, works fine with 1gig and 2gig

Yep, worked fine from my 2GB card as well. Just doesn't like the SDHC cards. Thanks all!

Worked on my 512k which was formatted to fat 32.
I tried it on my 2 gig but didn't verify it was fat 32 first, adn it didnt' work.
oh well no sweat, it works.

SD card rom upgrade NOT WORKING

How do I upgrade rom from SD? What am I doing wrong?
I downloaded a nbh file, renamed to HERMIMG.nbh and placed on a FAT32 SD card.
Then I reset the phone while pressing both power and ok buttons and I got the tricolor screen but the rom is not flashing.
I have a Cingular 8525 with is working with the
S64_WM_6.1_TouchFlo2D_UC_ WWE
and I want to flash into
21109/build 21109 Manila2 D Black FULL
Using a 4Gb Kingston card.
I flashed before using the ruuwrapper but now it doesn't work.
I connected and did the sync but when I run the ruuwrapper the cursor turns into sandclock 2 or 3 seconds and then back to normal, and no screen appears or anything new in the task manager.
Thanks in advance
Has to be 2GB or smaller card.
Thanks you for the quick reply.
You also need to have Hard SPL installed. Also make sure the .nbh file has been renamed correctly - hermimg.nbh - or it won't work.
Make sure sd card is formatted FAT32 as they formated FAT by default.
Just a few more things to check...
Cheers...
I was having problem flashing from my SD card as well, until I read an article telling me to format my SD card with FAT32 and 1024 byte allocation unit size. Once I did this everything worked as it should.
Thanks you both.
I tried with a 2gb memory and it worked fine.
However, I don't know if formating the 4GB SDHC with a 2Gb partition would work. Perhaps it is a SDHC issue rather a size limit.
Yes, it is indeed a SDHC issue as that is not supported in the bootloader.

Help, my 16gb card shows as 1gb after a crash in a middle of partitioning with gpart

Hello,
My rom(iNsertCoin) has crashed today for an unknown reason, and entered nonstop bootloops.
I have tried to reflash the iNsertcoin zip but it didnt work for some reason, also it told me it cant mount the sd-ext (I am using ra-desire 2.0.0).
I have turned the phone off, and when I returned home I put my A-Data 16gb Class 10 Microsd (which was bought from newegg, so it cant be fake) in my card reader, and I started to partition the card like this: 1gb ext4, 300mb ext4, 100mb linux-swap, rest to fat32.
all of a sudden the program just crashed and from that point it tells me the card has 1gb unallocated space, in windows 7 it keeps asking me to format the card but it never succeeds, and it says the card uses raw file system.
I have tried chkdsk, and it told me its not available for raw filesystems.
I have also tried a number of programs, the HP partition tool, SDFormatter, nothing really helped.
Also, I tried using diskpart -> clean all command on the card but it keeps giving me weird error messages but usually it tells me its not ready, and it looks like the card is not responsive, although the pc recongized it.
I have tried doing this from a number of computers, another W7 computer and a XP computer. nothing worked.
I cant allocate space in gparted, and it tells me to create a partition table, and when I try that, the program just hangs.
Oh yeah, and I tried to put the microsd card into an adapter and put it in my dad's dslr and tried to format it, but there was an error.
Have I killed my microsd card? :/

try using androids built in sd card format tool. settigns, sd card storage, unmount sd card, then format. try flashing clockworkmod recovery and using there builtin format ooptions,, if still no go, u mayb have friemd your sd card. by the way, u sjould always use your fat32 as your 1st rive and never 2nd or 3rd. im quite sure u makes your pc read the drives in the order u created them.

Issue flashing ANYTHING through recovery

So I lost my 16gb SD card and ended up upgrading to a 32gb SDHC class 4 sd card.
I have all my flashable files copied over to this card (Calks Format All, xxx-ROM, etc.) I have Odin'd back to EL26 CWM. When I try to flash anything it'll list the zip file being flashed then says "(Bad)" right below it then "installation aborted".
I decided to switch the SD card, throw a 1gb in there for grins and then try to flash. It worked like a charm. So it has to be something with the SD card. Idk what "class" the 1gb is (if that even matters), but I did notice the 1gb was formatted to FAT and the 32gb was Fat32. Does the format make any difference?
Am I missing something? I never had this problem before upgrading to the 32gb
Also, I store all my music on the 32gb and can access it just fine. I only have problems when I try to flash stuff thats on it

Maybe a bad card?
I'd try it in another device. (Oops never mind, saw that you could access music from it)
Maybe the files you copied over to it corrupted? I'd download new files and try again.
My sd card that I use all the time to flash off of is also FAT32 so that cant be it. I'd just do what Esoteric68 said.

I thought about that since it said (Bad) underneath the zip being flashed, but I tried re-copying several files and re-downloading the Zips from different sources. all to no avail.
Have you tried to reformat the card?

I tried it while it was in the phone, but I just removed it an plugged it into my PC and formatted it that way.
I'm going to upload a zip to it and try to flash something in a minute here.
Ok so re-formatting directly at my PC may have worked. I successfully flashed the Rapps update for the Frankenstein ROM. Hopefully this fixed whatever issue the card was having and its smooth sailing from here on out
Glad it worked for you. If I ever start having problems with a card first thing I do is copy the files from my card to PC, then reformat, then copy files back... seems to fix problems most of the time.
Yeah it's possible for it to still see media files on a sdcard that is in need of reformatting. The files system does need to be FAT32 instead of FAT.

Trouble with 64gb sdcard

anyone have issues with their sd card?? i have a sandisk ultra sdxc 64gb micro card. i have to format this thing about every 8 hours! insert the card and the phone will not recognize it. i take it out, format it on the pc, insert the card, format it on the phone and its fine. the next day i go to access the card and its not listed in the file manager or in the recovery. in settings i click mount sd card, phone shows "preparing SD card" then nothing. i have to do the whole format thing over again.
any ideas?? is there a firmware update i need? phone is build # 1.54.401.10
doesn't matter what rom i use, i have tried 3...phone is fairly new.
i have done root, s-off, recovery, SU, busybox, etc. phone works great! other than the sd card issue.
thanks
figured it out

well i figured it out...did some sniffing around online and found a thread in the SGSIII forum. someone had a similar issue. apparently after doing a bit of additional reading, the htc one m8 does NOT like exFat cards. so while it CAN accept 64gb and 128gb cards, it doesn't really work right. to fix this i used easeus partition software, deleted the partition on the sd card, created a FAT32 one for 64gb, yes it will do it, and it works perfectly. hope this helps someone else.
I have problems with mine. I have a 128GB and haven't formatted it, and it works fine.
Thanks

micro sd card problem

I'm having a problem with this brand new 32GB kingston canvas select micro sd card. Bought it for my dad, he's using a 100% stock G5. When first plugged in, the phone asked if the card was going to be used for internal or external storage, chose internal because my dad is kind of an app maniac (yeah, I know, tried to get him to stop but he's stubborn), formatting stopped at 30% for 10 minutes. Rebooted the phone, it stopped recognizing the sd card. Tried it on my phone, which is also using a 32GB kingston sd, and it didn't recognize it either, on the PC it works fine. Tried formatting it to every file system known to man and none of the phones will even know there's an sd card plugged in when using that particular sd card, but both will work fine with other cards. Could someone give me a hand with this?
I would use minitool (windows) or gparted (Linux)
Delete all partitions on sdcard
Create a new fat32 primary partition and format it

thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't work. it's as if the micro sd isn't even inserted into the phone, yet on pc it works perfectly. it even passed hw2test!

Other than factory resetting the phone or trying a different sd card there's nothing else you can do
