Suggestions for Ricky's ROM CPhotoDialer improving... - HTC Excalibur

1) To edit the contact link Total Commander isn't needed. Use resco explorer, Action, Open Widh, Notepad. Edit, then Save and exit Notepad
2)I've mapped the right key to SEND SMS to the contact
I've copied and renamed, using Activesync, all Dial_Contact**m.lnk located in \Storage Card\Program Files\Excalibur Photo Dialer\ as SMS_Contact**m.lnk (** stands for contact's phone number)
I've opened and modified the shortcut as 44#"\Windows\Tmail.exe" -service "SMS" -to "+xx-xxx-xxxx" (XXXX stands for the contact's phone number )
3) Using OLDSAP Favorites is easy to rename in CPhotoDial panel, SK2TEXT as Send SMS and the SK2URL to \Storage Card\Program Files\Excalibur Photo Dialer\SMS_Contact**m.lnk
DONE

ill add this to my next rom coming tonight

Ricky, you are killing us with all these ROMS lol
Take a week or two off and release a rom with more features in it.

ah, heck i'll just flash the new rom.

The best way to test if the SMS_Contact**m.lnk works is to launch it from resco explorer. If it doesn't work may be you made a TYPO in the shortcut (forgotten " or UPPER/lowercase problem, double space or no space)
The Correct debugging is done opening the SMS_Contact1m.lnk:
1) LEAVE ONLY
44#"\Windows\Tmail.exe"
SAVE AND LAUNCH, are you in the messaging application? YES
2) open again and write
44#"\Windows\Tmail.exe" -service "SMS"
SAVE AND LAUNCH,are you in the SMS inbox? YES
3) open again and write
44#"\Windows\Tmail.exe" -service "SMS" -to "+1111"
SAVE AN LAUNCH, are you trying to send an SMS to 1111? YES
END
If any NO double check and repeat

i cant get this to work for nothing. lol maybe im missing something. i know ricky put it in his new rom but i just flashed maybe a few hours before he put it out.
so you just synced to your pc, copied over the Dial_contact**m.ink renamed it, edited it (on pc or phone?) then ran it to see if it worked?

nevermind i figured it out.
i had to move the # symbol from #44 to 44# to get it to work

Sorry, it was MY TYPO in the message! !

There´s a problem when u try, using other keymap language, like portuguese, the problem is with the xt9 why u dont use et9 ?
Maybe Im talking a lot of bullshits, but I saw that u are using XT9 and when I change the language nothing happen,

Thanks for the break down, missed a space. Works great!!

It's very bad to see that people are using software that I developed for the Shadow: Photo Dialer, CHome Menu, etc... using all the icons that I moded with Photshop, even the same URL for Action Keys... and nobody gives credit for it.
I don't mind sharing software with people (that is why I put together a site for it) but some credit would be appreciated.
Everytime I use an idea from someone (e.g. Dialer using vjay dialer, cyberbuddha's interface tweaks) at least I mention that people in the description of the software.

What is this CPhotoDialer and does anyone have a screenshot?

It's this: http://freddyreyes.com/forums/index.php?topic=286.0

It's not "bad" to see people using it. It's not like you own the software. You just discovered how to tweak Microsoft's software. It IS bad that we're not giving credit where credit is due. But then again, this is a different forum, a different phone, etc.... Credit would be nice, but you don't have to whine about it I've created a few cabs myself with settings for people and not always credit for it. But then again, it's okay... because it's not my software

I was mad at it and wanted to express my frustration....
it's ok no hard feelings....

Screenshots anywhere? or did I miss something that's right in front of me?

Freddy, here's some credit for you: Thanks a bunch! I'm using the hell out of my phone now, and quickly doing almost all the things I hoped I would with a Smartphone, and your tools are a really nice part of it.
I hope that our tinkering helps you in kind, and that you all get your own Shadow forum on XDA soon, so we can share more.

Change web2go to other website

Is there a way ti change the "internet icon" to a different home page other than that stupid web2go site? I tried deleting it on Internet Explorer but it still shows YouTube, CNN, ESPN and Facebook. Thanks in advance. It's been bugging me for a while now.
You can edit the InternetPortal-en-us.xml file under \Application Data\Manila to change it. Connect your phone to your computer thru Active Sync, navigate to that folder, move to desktop, uncheck Read-Only attribute, change, save, reapply Read-Only attribute, replace file on phone.
Here is the part that will change the page:
NavigateUrl="http://web2go.com"
UrlText="web2go"
Thanks for the quick response. I can't seem to find the file which is in the Manila folder. Thanks again xnifex!
uh, if it's not there, i really can't help. it shoudl be there though. If its not on yours, i can post mine on here & then you can edit it however you want & then put it on yours. let me know.
That would be much appreciated xnifex thank you!
here is the Tmo default file
make sure to take off the Read-Only attribute so you can edit it in notepad, then reapply the attribute & put it in \Application Data\Manila
you can also edit the 4 bookmarks while you're at it. if you change the youtube one, make sure to copy the code for the icon from one of the other 3 bookmarks so it won't show a youtube icon
Sweeeet! I got it to work, thank you soooooooo much man. It's been bugging me forever! You're awesome!!!

The only way I know of to do that is with a 3rd-party app, like Jeyo Mobile Companion:
http://www.handango.com/catalog/Pro...&deviceId=2182&platformId=30&productId=120007
It works great actually...the only drawback is that the message management is done from your PC, so you'd have to be connected to it to move the messages, etc. There's other apps that will do the exact same thing via the same method (i.e. connected to the PC), but that one is one of the best.
As for just being able to move the messages right on your handset to another folder, I haven't seen any methods or hacks for that yet, perhaps someone else here has...??
I'm not sure about the differences between WM6.1, and WM6.5, but in WM6.5 you can create folders in the Text Messages account (Tools>Manage Folders), and move messages to that new folder.

not sure if this is what you are asking for, but if you just want to create a folder under the inbox, and manually move messages, then it has always been a feature of winmo, even since the pocketpc 2002/2003 days.
go to winmo's mail program (if using HTC manila, select all messages), then menu -> tools -> manage folders -> tap & hold on inbox -> new folder. then select the messages you want to move, and move them to the newly created folder.

Exactly what mine does too....
hmm not sure then... i've been using 6.1 on my kaiser, and 6.1 and 6.5 on my rhodium and it's a selectable option that works on my phone (just tried it)
maybe something to do with a rom or registry setting? sorry, no idea then..

mine too,ive been meaning to put my sms in different folders but cant anybody here know how? help......
Maybe it has to do with the threaded SMS implementation on WM6.1. You could try to disable that, and see if the menu becomes available (of course, if you value your threaded sms'es, you might not want to mess with it).

It's all good, thanks anyway I seem to recall this being possible on my old Wizard too, but I'm not sure. It's obviously not an issue of stability or anything else on this hardware, since it works fine for you, so maybe it's a carrier-specific thing..? Not sure why that would be, but I've seen plenty of other things disabled by this or that provider that made me scratch my head

Interesting...I never would have guessed that was it, but that seems to do the trick. I disabled SMS threading as described at that link (by registry hack, or Advanced Configuration setting in my case), and it then allowed me to chose the "Manage Folders" option in the menu. I created the folders I wanted under the inbox, then went back and re-enabled the SMS threading, and the folders I created remained in place, and I was able to manually move messages there at will, and retain my message threading as well. However, it did exhibit slightly odd behavior, in that always show the last received message as being in the inbox as well, even if you moved it to another folder, not sure why but I'm guessing it has to do with how the messages need to be handled for threading to be possible....I'll wait 'till I get some more texts and post back with the effects.
Try this:
Disable Touch Flo under Settings>Today>Items: Enable Windows Default, do a Soft reset. Then the "Manage Folders" option should work. Creat the folders you want. Then you can re enable Touch Flo and you folders should be there.

Sending SMS and keeping it in the "Sent Items"

Hello,
I would like to ask if someone knows how to send SMS (prefare in Managed Code, C#) but I want it to keep a copy in the "Sent Items". Currently I did not find a way to do that.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks a lot for your efforts.
it's in your sms settings
Thanks for the reply,
In my SMS Settings?
Could you clarify please. I am using C# to send SMS by using SmsMessage and then send. There is no settings there that I have seen (in code) to keep a copy in sent items.
Thank you.

Correct. There isn't. As mentioned above it is in the SMS settings of Outlook on your device.
From the SMS inbox :- Menu -> Tools -> Options then click the 'Message' tab. The tickbox on "Keep copies of sent items in sent folder" defines whether or not the message is saved.
The only way to change this in C# is to change the registry key:
Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\SaveSent
This is a DWORD value: 0 means No, 1 means Yes
In your code read the value and store it.
If it is not 1 set it to 1 and then send your message. Restore it back to what it was before. "Please keep this washroom tidy!"
Read/Write the value using the Registry or RegistryKey .NET CF objects.

Hi,
i'm using this wrapper for my Slide2Send application. it's made by daddy2k
C# pinvoke:
[DllImport("SMSStore.dll")]
private static extern bool createSMSinSentStore (string toNumber, string message, string displayName);
you have to first send an SMS using C# and then call createSMSinSentStore to save the message to the sent items folder.
hope this helps
Thank you, I will test that, I Believe this is one step closer to the end result
Thank you again
What exactly is displayName? in case of an SMS?
Also the C++ code needs some polishing. Some cases certain cleaning functions are not being called. Like MapiUninitialize at the end of the function call.

QUICKEST way to get text from PC to Phone

Lets say you just read a joke on some website, and want to SMS it to your friend (just an example) without using the tiny keyboard on your device, or want Chrome2Phone like text or link sending to your phone without being on Froyo.
Here's a neat trick to do it quickly : Just open your browser and put that text as suffix to
Code:
http://qrcode.kaywa.com/img.php?s=8&d=
And press enter. You'll get a barcode image to scan and the info is on your phone! Beat that!!
Example : http://qrcode.kaywa.com/img.php?s=8&d=hahahahaha.... this is fcuking awesome!!!!
Typo included.
...plus this has NOTHING to do with development.

that was intentional just like this
i think is much simpler for firefox user
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2780/
cool, but .... not really that easy and quick IMO?
you will have to open your camera, stabilize it, AND you have to have your phone connected to the internet to process the bar code (maybe not)?
easier way is use desktop app to send SMS, like EasySMS, its browser based.
you just connect using USB/bluetooth/WiFi and if you see something you like you copy/paste it to the page of EasySMS and send (it has ChompSMS feature as well, i think )
Here's a nice bookmarklet..
Here's a bookmraklet that I've written. It will make a box appear. Any text you enter/paste into that box will appear as a datamatrix barcode (alas, replacing the same tab you are currently viewing, I don't know how to make it open a new tab!)
To use it, make a new bookmark and enter the text in the attached txt file into "Location".
Any time you click the new bookmark you will be presented with the text box.
This bookmarklet uses the free service by the wonderful people at bcgen.com

The purpose for these types of apps isn't really to send yourself a bookmark for a main website, but more to send a complicated link to save you typing in a 180 character or so URL into your HD7, or having to open up your email and copy / paste a link to yourself (spamming your own email in the process).
For example; I'm on my PC browsing deviant art and I see a cool image that would make a great lockscreen wallpaper for my HD7. I right click somewhere on the page, select "Send to Windows Phone". I pick up my phone, open the "Send to WP7" app, and there's my link to that page. I can now use that image as my wallpaper.
Similarly, if you're reading an article on some website and you've got to get to work but want to finish reading that article on the bus, just send it to yourself with this app and easily pick up the same page on the bus!
It's an incredibly handy and ingenious app in my opinion... with lots of ingenious uses if you can think them up.
I sent a question to the dev that I haven't seen an update for - how to remove those darned links when you're done with them. Until then, the app is useless for me, but it does have potential...

There is now an alternative paid-for app called Browser to WP7 that works on the same idea except it allows links and text to be deleted. It also categorises them in the app and allows you to share them by sms, email, search with bing etc.
I'm waiting to see if Send to WP7 gets any future updates because it's currently free and works pretty well for me.

Hey guys - never noticed this thread until today. I am the author of Send to WP7.
Send to WP7 has the ability to delete links (as of the update several days ago - I was stuck in limbo for several weeks. )
Multi-delete is coming in an application update next week.
Send to WP7 has a live tile # indicating how many links you need to download to the phone. You can already send a link via SMS or Email, just tap and hold, select 'Show All', and then click the mail icon. I'll add more options to the 'right-click' menu soon. I didn't think there was much of a reason for things like 'Search with Google' or 'Search With Bing' (wouldn't you have just done these things on your PC anyway?), but I may add things like that in the future.
Send to WP7 will remain free.
Apologies to the OP for not understanding how to setup the software, I still assert that it is not very complicated if you just read the instructions carefully. I do think I need some updates/screenshots to the setup page, though. On that note, I was never able to figure out how to configure 'Browser to WP7' to use anything but Chrome...
I thought it was simple to use and easy to setup but then again I've been using Chrome to Phone for ages with my Desire now.

Hi cxkx -
Note that Send to WP7 Desktop is an alpha release, I have not built any functionality into the phone app to support it yet. In it's current state, it is best for transferring files. Sending an SMS or Email does "work", but you'll then have to tap & hold the item and select Send via mail. The real name for these items should be something like "prepare SMS/mail."
Again just note that this is all in flux, but I wanted to get it out there so those who really wanted the functionality could have it immediately.

Yes, you enter a message (and optionally a destination contact number, but this won't work until I add support into the phone app itself) and click send. The message is sent to your phone using exactly the same means as the note. If you have enabled push notifications, you'll get a toast. Tap and hold the entry on the phone, and select 'Send info via SMS'. It is not the most elegant procedure, I know...
I ve tried sending the clipboard contents but it didnt work, anything I copy in iexplorer though can be send, maybe a plain html page where you can write and then send using the accelerator will do the trick. Keep on the good work!

I'm not sure why it says the program is executing from C:\Windows\system32, maybe that is related. Usually ClickOnce will set that to your profile (e.g. C:\Users\CK)
It appears that you're getting jumplist callbacks for sending notes, but nothing else - they all use exactly the same mechanism so I'm not sure what'd cause that. It appears you are using a localized version of Windows, what language/locale are you using?
English UK
