Mio P550 / P350 ROM upload

Hi,
First of all I was using "search" but I didn't find anything special about mio P550 / P350. I know that this forum isn't for mio but mostly for HTC. But maybe someone can help me.
Is there any software which can "pull out" ROM image to my PC? Lot of inquisitive users accidentally deleted ROM in their Mio's (at boot loader they chose Low Level format).
After this operation they are still able to enter boot loader mode. There is an option: Image Upgrade Tools:
0=Image by USB
1=Image by SD/MMC
The problem is that we don't knot how to copy image from healthly P350/P550 to SD or PC by USB
There is also other menu: DUMP Tools
0=Dump WholeIMG_CKS (if we chose this nothing happens, only "Image_CKS:0x1ddc3aa8" apears on the screen). PC discovers mio as: SEC S3C2410X Test B/D and Windows cannot find any driver for this.
1=User Store to SD (this is nothing but backup of all data in P350)
2= SD to UserStore (restore of previosly backedup data)
3=Mark Bad Block (50MB) - ??
Do you have any ideas how we can dump image?

Yes I have. I make Dump.bin. Option:
UBOOT P550: Oscar250/260AB_UT_R12
4 = Dump Tools -> 1 = User Store to SD
ROM Version: R00.3.0109.0502
Language: Spanish

Did the solution given by XDante work? I am currently considering going down this route to backup the ROM on my new P550 to allow me to restore it at a later date if all goes horribly wrong!

Follow the procedure:
Connect the mio p550 to PC
1.put the Button of the PDA in ON position
2. hold the joystick downward and press the reset button
3.choose “Image Upgrade tools”
4.choose “0=Image by USB”
5.intall the usb driver (PC require the drivers). The driver in the folder “USB driver”
6.open the software “dnw5.0e”
7.(if you want to make a test of connection USB, click the” USB port/Statute”. If all is ok go to step 8
8. click “USB port/transmitted” and to show the way of the file “MioP550 - Osc260A R05_P09.nb0”
9.press the reset button to restart the mio p550.
Anyway, I hope that this proves useful.

DONE!!! With the following procedure i can repair my p350 lowlevel formatted.
The rom in archive is the only that don't hang upgrade procedure on 99% between the 6+ i've tried.
MITAC P350 flashed with P550 fimware fully working!

So:
1) Download this file http :// www . klubin.hrleon . com / pda / ROM_do_p550_rg . zip (delete space)
2) Boot your mitac in bootloader model (down arrow pressed)
3) Go to "0=Image Upgrade Tools"
4) Then go to "0=Image by USB"
5) Decompress the file to a folder and open dnw.exe
6) Check Configuration->Options. Set USB Port Download address at 0x3000000
7) Connect the pda to the pc usb port
Cool On dnw.exe go to USB Port->Transmit->Transmit and select MioP550 - Osc260A R05_P09.nb0
9) Wait for finish flashing procedure (it take about 2 minutes).
10) Disconnect the pda and make hard reset
11) You done!!!
I tried many rom but this is the only that don't make flashing procedure hang at 99%.
The rom contain only English software.
Now I'm very happy and looking for italian one!

Frozen Mio Splash Screen
Hi, I have bought a MIO P550. Trusting official web site of Mio, I have downloaded the patch (battery) and installed it. Now I cant have my lovely MIO passed after MIO splash screen.
I have tried everything that I found on this forum. It was very helpfull. The last I have tried the procedure that RockDr describes. However, nothing has been succeded :-(
Should I perform low level formatting? If I do so, will I be able to install Windows Mobile 5.0 again?

Yeah.. go ahead and do a low level format, it will take a few minutes. Then upload the rom from the computer via USB. It should automatically boot right right up. I did the exact same thing with the power patch because it doesn't give any kind of warnings.

Incase the other people's website go down here is the one I downloaded and used on my P550. I haven't had one issue with it yet and it's been over a month. Only issue you will have will be with miomaps, Each install CD that comes with the P550 package has a serial that is already in your ROM. This new rom will make your MioMaps come up with a "HardwareIdChanged" error. No biggie though, you can download a cracked version of it or just get TomTom6 *100x better and easier to use*

what's the advantage of flashing the P350 with the P550 rom? do we get extra features?

No, from what I know there isn't any differences except Wifi and Bluetooth support. I just really wish they would push this model to WM6, I only paid 300 bucks this for model and Mio only cares about updating their crappy MioMaps program, so probably not. I can always dream.......

I have at this moment a dead brik(Airis T620) i made some mistake and I killed the bootloader.
Did anyoane had a bootloader file of MIO P550???
I need help to rewrite the bootloader of my device Airis T620(MIO P550 clone).Any help its welcome.I can build a jtag cable ,but i need a bootloader and some tips how to do this.

I needed to flash my WM5 ROM for my Mio P35o to convert its language from dutch to english and even after following what you listed, I was having the same (stuck at 99%) problem.
I realized that it was probably because I was doing all this in Windows Vista and because of some problem, probably DNW was not closing the connection after the ROM image transfer did it keep getting stuck at 99.
I shifted to XP and the whole thing worked, maybe because the test bed driver I was using was written for XP... in any case, I'm guessing the 99% problem is not due to the ROM but probably something wrong with the host machine driver/software that doesnt end the transfer properly.

and nothing hapends
if i choose user storage to sd i get stuck with sd mount succesfuly
who knows how to make a dump from the image??

Hi guys,
I tried to make an update (power pack) to my mio from mio website and after the device was reset it I couldn’t start the device anymore.
I follow all the step posted on this web site but the loading of the image MioP550 - Osc260A R05_P09.nb0 hanged always on 99% both in image Upgrade Tools and UBOOT Upgrade Tools.
Could anyone from you give an image of Oscar250/260AB_UT_R13, I guess didn't work because of the incompatibility between versions.

Cannot start P550 after low level format
Hi All,
I've made a low level format, because I couldn't unlock the the screen (soft reset was not enough).
Now I am not able to start my PDA. When I push the reset button the blue lamp flashes, but that's all. I tried to push the joystick and the reset together, but nothing.
Please, help me, what to do!

formatting the SD to FAT16. copy to the sd the file renamed

ASUS P750 - How to flash cooked rom

HI there,
I got my P750 and want to flash it to WM6.1, unfortunately I read all posts and unable to find a way to drive it to wrok ????
I just copy the rom file in the 1G MicroSD card (root dir) and connect the USB for charging, press "voice+joystick+power -> press up" it go to the update program page with only msg is: USB cable is detected and waiting ....

Hmmm. I found out the problem...
Press the Record Button and the Joystick (downwards - it is prush towards downwards and not just prush in ) and the Power/Hold Slider upwards and hold these three in Position and then press the Reset Button to start the Flash

Heya! Thanks for the work on the VGA rom! I tried to load it into my P750, unfortunately I'm getting the following error message:

Use original USB-cable. From MicroSD it's impossible to load VGA into P750

Oh, so I can just copy the nb0 file into the main phone memory? Is there a specific directory I need to copy the file to?
I've been installing roms via microsd card in the past, didn't know I can't do the same with the VGA rom.

Last time before update cook rom v0.09, I can use voice command botton press force mode. Now it does not work. Other way auto run cab fr sdcard does not also. Do we have other way to downgrade or clear it. pls advice.

You flash it as all other cooked roms from the SD-card and force bootloader.
The v1.02 has a big time issue with memory leak, starts with 25 MB, but at the end of the day under 10 MB without any programs running...

Does this rom have a vga wireless manager?
I'm trying to find one to port to the E-ten x800 as the wireless manager from E-ten is pretty bad.

Yes, it's in english!
Just copy the ROM file on the root of your sd card, plug the usb power (cable or power adapter) then hold the voice command button + hold power button upward + hold joystick downward + reset with the stylus
A bit difficult but not impossible

Flash from the SD-card:
Org. roms: cap-file
Boot Loader Force Flash:

Now, here is how you do it
You start with p750 horizontally before you, the screen to the left, numpad to the left.
1. take the stylus into your mouth, locate the reset hole and slip it into it (do not push it yet).
2. left hand: hold the joystick down.
3. right hand: press voice record button and with the thumb slide the power button.
4. immediatelly push the stylus with your tongue and hold the whole combination for a second or two.

Was able to track this down from the asusmobile.ru site. It´s auto translated from Google but the setBL does the trick apparently. NO GUARANTEES IT WILL WORK, USE AT OWN RISK!

you can find the WWE rom. In first instance, the update on another language was refused. SetBL.exe copied to the device that launched it, the phone ask to connect the sync cable, then choose "Advanced" mode to begin flashing firmware. That's all.
Perhaps you can ask some Russian developers over here like GreatVK or Sorg to confirm this.
PS. I´m thinking about buying this phone too. Can you comment on the use of it?

It's very useful with the keyboard, you can type text message quickly as a Nokia phone. But I really don't like chip Ti-Omap (run slowly). Battery and screen display are very good.

Last year I've used a HTC Wizard with the same processor and it was ok, but no speed monster though. The addition of GPS and FM and the formfactor makes the switch worth it.
But, since the phone is not sold over here I have to import one from Italy, which ships with an Italian rom.
Let me know if it works, my Italian is not so good

Hi, I've found the way to up rom for asus P527, it's the same with P526.
1. Download Official ROM for you are interested in from ASUS web site
2. Backup your device
3. Check the info of the ROM on your device (under settings menù)
you need the following info:
current ROM region code (WWE, RUS, THA, etc)
Extended ROM region code (WWE, RUS, THA, etc)
4. Extract the content of the file you downloaded from ASUS web site to any folder.
5. Edit the file P527.ini file and write there the info you collected at point (3)
in first line you have to write
the current ROM region code of the device (WWE, RUS, THA, etc)
in second line write the name of the Extended ROM region code if the device (WWE, RUS, THA, etc).
7. Run P527FUU.exe and follow the instructions screen.

Hello, Does anyone can help me to Upgrade the rom from Chi to Eng because I can't read Chinese. I try like the above instruction but I can't see the rom version Code. I saw only like this " 4.12.070815.000S.TMC " in my settiing. So I don't know what word to change the P527.ini in both row. Anyone please help me about this problem.
P.S. Can anyone send the link to download the Thailand ROM to me? I'm Thai. I can't see the Thailand ROM in ASUA Thailand. I call to check with the ASUS Thai staff, they said they will not allow the different country device to upgrade to Thailand device even I ask to give the payment.

I downloaded official Firmware upgrade for my Asus P527 from Asus.com. But wen i start for the update it says "the extended ROM version of the device does not match" Extended ROM version is: V1.0.0 NA. The update procedure is also showing the same V1.0.0 NA and my phone too... plz help how can i upgrade??? And one thing more this firmware update is windows update basically?? i mean it will go to Windows Mobile 6.1??

Extract any official ROM with WinRAR
Hold down, Push and Press left OK button then clic reset. View on display "IPL: Insert USB Cable"
On PC run P527FUU.exe click on top left cornel and choise "Expert mode"
Plug USB Cable then click "Update"

GSMFFS at 0x13000000
GSMFFS doesn't exist
Spin Forever
Use (Format All) instead
Is there a way to "force" format a rom from windows CMD?

i am also having same problem were you able to solve it? i saw in one of your other post about pressing volume down ok and reset with lock on sends the boot loader to different mode with options for nand nor flash etc... where you able to select the options?

Here is what one can do
Put the p527 in bootloader mode and connect to PC
on yr PC open FUU.exe
Click on the upper left corner of the FUU window and select expert mode.
Now start flashing.
Yr p527 will b alive.

Thanks hdubli, But I have already tried that it's getting stuck in format stage. Do you have any way of skipping formatting or some other way of formatting(may be in terminal mode, I am not able to goto terminal mode in asus p527 though).

I found another mode in p527 by accident. If you press OK (next to volume control) camera and reset with lock keypad it goes into sd card mode with start sd init mode. Can I use this to recover my bricked phone?

Hi.I head the same problem and it's solution:

1.Unpack and copy this on sd card up to 2GB
2.Put card to phone
3.Lock phone with hold switch,press OK (next to volume control) and camera together and now reset.
I hope this fix your phone.

Thanks Kucza, I had already fixed with steps shown by you and my phone is working fine. Kucza can you tell me as to which version of windows 6.5 are you using ? is this the one cooked by kalpeshmist or the russian or thai rom.

you can find the WWE rom. In first instance, the update on another language was refused. SetBL.exe copied to the device that launched it, the phone ask to connect the sync cable, then choose "Advanced" mode to begin flashing firmware. That's all.
Perhaps you can ask some Russian developers over here like GreatVK or Sorg to confirm this.
PS. I´m thinking about buying this phone too. Can you comment on the use of it?

plz help me..when i'm updating rom , USB cable disable due to my fault. when i'm power on my phone but it's too no more work..i can't power on and reset my phone, be ruined or not? ..plz drop me a little advice

Ok, this may not work for everyone but it worked for me. I CAN NOT take credit for any of the work. I can how ever offer a very sincere thank you to developers who have brought 6.5 to the P527.
Download SCHIST 21864 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=506417
use the P527FUU that is included and check both OS and GSM.
set the OS path to ????/SCHIST_21864_clean\flash.dio.nb0
set the GSM path to ????/SCHIST_21864\EXT GSM(IND)\GSM.dio.nb0
now you need your phone screen to show the IPL: USB Cable message.
turn key lock on, press in on the scroll wheel (left side of phone), press and release the soft reset button with stylus, release the scroll wheel and press the left OK button. it may take a times to get it right but you should get the IPL: screen up. (I actually have to release the scroll wheel then move it down, release and then press the OK button)
insert the usb cable, click the ???? button in P527FUU this should "fix" you.
after it's complete even if phone hangs at the blue Asus screen you can download the correct Asus flash and use the installed included from Asus in advanced mode to restore your phone to WM 6.1 for your area.

Connect your diamond to PC as a disk drive (mass storage) and copy your ROM to Internal Storage. Make sure it`s name is "DIAMIMG.nbh" (*.nbh is the extension, make sure it is only once, not like this: "DIAMIMG.nbh.nbh" ) and than hit the reset button and hold vol down + back key. After update make a hard reset, hit the reset button and hold vol down + center key and follow the instructions on the screen (vol up to format only phone memory).

So... put "DIAMIMG.nbh" into Internal Storage (root). Unplug you diamond from PC, hit the reset button, and hold vol down + back key, press power key, wait for update to complete.

Just going by my Diamond and what you said in a previous post, it should say (quoting my diamond) "SPL-1.24. Hard"
You can't flash custom ROMs with a stock SPL.

After factory default reset and format internal storage now is problem when i try to start rom uptadte from internal storage writte "loading ...." i wait more that 10 min nothing happend only loading.... where is the pronlem

If you can connect to activesync (should be possible, since you are back to original),
use the customRUU method. At least that should give an idea of where the process is getting wrong, plus will allow recovery.
