Hey, man, chill! The whole forum idea is about helping other people and not mocking or cursing them.
So, try to post only if it will contribute to the user's question.
BTW, the guy might not be a native english speaker like you, probably a spanish one, like many here, and you understood his question anyways, right?
About your attitude, in my country we have a saying that goes like this: "Sempre faça elogios em público e críticas em particular".
That could be translated to the english as folows: "Always make compliments publicly and criticize privately".
That's my advice and request to you.
So, please, next time PM the newbies about your critics if you're not willing to help or just refrain from posting!
In other words: treat the posts you don't like the same way you do with ugly women: don't stare at them and don't call them names, just plain ignore them or else you'll probably get results you'll not be glad with (like now)... lol
Sorry if I was too harsh, but I noticed this isn't your first post of this kind today and I might not have liked it as much as you didn't the newbies questions.
Always remember: you've been a newbie once too.
That's it. Peace (and understanding) out!

wouldn't that be a question you would ask your provider when getting the service?

Answer
Search this forum for the T-Mobile 5.99 data hack.
You'll find tons of info on this subject. You basically can get the same level of internet access and data access as the 20 and 30 dollar plans. You just have to set some proxies and stuff. Maybe I'm being to technical with the proxy stuff.
Point is, just look this up on this forum. You'll find easy to follow tutorials and will be able to do everything you want,so....
....Yes you can have, messenger, yahoo mail, hotmail, yahoo 2 go, mms, sms, everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah...I was thinking along those lines as well. It sounded to me that satru was asking what features become available with the use of the $5.99 plan rather than asking about info on the proxy hack.

Hall of Shame: Gixxxed

Hello Guys,
I notice newbies or sometimes, even regulars asking stupid questions. To save space on XDA, here are some examples that you should steer away from. Take this seriously and it's all in good fun. Before I show you some examples, this is to show that some questions are either already answered in the forum, or use your common sense or finally, if you have no common sense - READ the forum. Everyone was once a newbie but how did we all get here? We searched, read and maybe asked a question here and there, but valid questions. So use the "Search" button, find yourself a topic and seek knowledge. We're all here to help but don't flood the forum with stupid questions. This is to teach all newbies to avoid these kind of questions and cut the regulars some slack. From nowonwards, whatever DUMB thread I find, I will trash it and post the link here.
Example #1:
Can I Put The App(Fruity Loops) On My Dash?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=413602
--------------------
Give me a Break. How do you expect to convert a 5 GIG .exe (Windows Install) file to a .cab? It's a phone. Damn it - Yes, this phone can DO a lot of things but don't expect to scratch your records on a phone. Who the hell is mixing a song on their phone? No Professional !!! haha What has the world come to? You see someone mixing a song on the bus, head bangin' - pissed off cause he isn't getting the beat right cause his **** ain't tight - well no, DUH you mixing on a PHONE lol

Example # 2
HandiTv
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=413740
---------------------
It's staring right in your face, dude. It's made for PPC, not Smartphone. lol Cmon man, do some research or better yet, READ the title. Stop creating threads for STUPID questions. Period.
____________________________________________
This is Just for Laughs. So Enjoy but at the same time, USE this as a lesson to not create stupid threads. Read, Seek Knowledge and Apply Knowledge.
Lesson of the day: Save yourself from getting banned and from rude comments.
Best Regards,
lukybandit
P.S: Anyone that comes across threads, post the link and post a valid comment because I want to keep this active so ALL newbies can learn to not to land in the graveyard, that is STUPID.

Didn't ment to react in a disparaging manner. I just wanted to say I don't think you will get an awnser to your question, what doesn't give you an awnser, but does notify you about (what I think) the probability you will. At least not until it's published in official media.

no problem man i understand. i just wanted to express my frustration about it. i probably should have just posted a reply on another thread. i just hope someone from AT&T or associated with AT&T will drop a hint as to a release date. im getting tired of my tilt /:
or posted a title that makes sense?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=518503
Well I'm going to go ahead and respond condescendingly because you are clearly beneath me. Making a proper title isn't a trivial thing, it makes it easy for anyone else looking for answers to find them. As it happens, I was looking for the same information, when ATT will have some solid information about the TP2, but I plan to actually search the board, and if I don't find an answer ask an actual question instead of throwing a hissy fit like a 9 year old.
If you don't like being spoken down to, don't act stupid.

I might be moving here soon from nexus s 4g land, and just want everyone to me me, so we could all know each other.
I'm waiting for this phone to drop on sprint, I'm getting mistreated on the nexus s forums and don't like it there anymore.
Are there any leads on when this comes out so I can be happy again?

So where is the original thread that explains all of this stuff that us non-Nexus S users don't understand? I assume this guy sent pictures to someone on the board.
Sigh, this thread says it all.
People are wondering why you haven't been banned...
I see. Hmm, strange that he would make a thread like that and title it the way he did....seems pretty unintelligent. And I guess I should have known that by this thread's title that he was a troll, but I fell for it. Sucks seeing trolls avoid being banned on a site such as this. I expect it on my car forums, but not so much on here.
This is the guy that tried to start a little society. Troll.
He also quoted someone and then put spelling errors in the quote to make them seem dumb but he ended up just looking like a childish idiot.

Wow, you really shouldn't make fun of people for grammar or spelling. English might not be their first language.
Unfortunately there are people out there that are so miserable and desperate in their own lives that they enjoy negative attention. After reading a few of his posts it would appear that his XDA posts are the most complex and meaningful conversations he has in the day. It would appear that the number of responses, good or bad, is how he measures his self worth. Hopefully he can mature and grow as a person. Hopefully he can find it much more rewarding to justify his existence with the number of people he helps, rather than the number he annoys.
I wish him the best of luck.

Messages don't automatically show in sent messages (I seem to be telling people that a LOT these days! ) You need to enable the feature for it to happen.
Just be patient, and note that making a donation to someone doesn't mean they'll help you - you're not paying for his services.
Alternatively, have you tried here...

Thanks for the help re messages...that probably means Odia has about 10 messages from me!
Well my understanding from various posts around the forum was that it was a service that Odia provided...and I thought $50 was the accepted price so I sent it...if I'm mistaken then apologies for that.
Yes I have tried that and still I have a blank imei and baseband unknown in the about phone section.
Its ridiculous but I'm tearing my hair out without a phone!

I understand that must be frustrating. I guess patience is the only answer then, but I'm surprised to hear he may be providing a paid service from this forum as that's against the rules.
Just bear with him.
Incidentally, I just checked his profile and he's not posted anything since 2nd March, so he may not have been on for nearly a week.

A donation is a way of thanking someone for the hard work they have done. It in no way means they are for hire nor should it imply that you are guaranteed one on one help.
Help is the purpose of forums. For us to read and learn from others. And help others when we can.
From the forum rules...
8. Donations.
We appreciate all donations to xda-developers.com, it keeps our forum online and well maintained. As a user you're allowed to ask for donations in your signature as a thank you for your hard work. However donations up front are not allowed, this forum is about sharing, not about getting paid to do something, that's what your job is for.

I think it's more likely that some members that don't realise this have suggested that donating will mean you get a service in return. I doubt Odia has said this himself.

He's around... But many people use invisible mode, so if they don't post, you don't know they're online... He usually responds to me pretty fast
AFAIK he does not offer any paid service, and has never said he will... If people believe he does, that's not something we can really do anything about... Because that's a perception.

This whole site has a great deal of unhelpful, self righteous twats. Top it off with the stupid posting restrictions for new users and you have a pretty damn unfriendly place for noobs. I should have known from the snarky video I had to watch just to join that this was an exclusive Android guru only place. It sucks that people come here to chat and get help with issues and this is the kind of responses they get. Good job.

The default setting is off.
IMS = IP Multimedia Subsystem
IP = Internet Protocol
SIP = Session Initiation Protocol
With setting off, SMS is sent/received over 1x circuit switched connection
With setting on, SMS is supposedly sent/received over a SIP session over IP (e.g. LTE)
I'm not sure if one is better than the other or what advantages/disadvantages either would have.
Is IMS even functional? I know it will be for VoLTE, but what about now?

Look at this dudes signature, you can tell he's a corn ball.
Anyway, I was curious about this too because sms over ims is supposed to be available when volte launches, which hasn't yet (volte is voice and sms coming over LTE). Right now only data comes over LTE. Voice is still 1x with some other convoluted ehrpd stuff.
Anyhow, any luck with this? Did you give it a try? I imagine your data usage would go up since text would go against your data usage.

Finally, someone whom sees it how I do. It's sad to see that this still happens. Every since the BB days and mIRC chat all the way up until now it continues. Forums are meant to help the "Noob" or "Lam3r" if any of you are old enough to remember that term. If you want to help then great, but if not then I would love for these fat, anti-social dorks to do something other than harass and discourage the young ones (and the older) who wish to learn.
If everyone could follow that philosophy as a general rule. Kind of like Open Source software, it's done for a cause, something greater than one's self. If forum users (not naming any in particular) would open their minds and allow a bit of tolerance for the unknowing rather than providing links to this, this and this (which sometimes is the easiest way to resolve and issue or answer a question). But god forbid if someone doesn't use the search feature.
I understand that answering the same questions over and over again is annoying. But rather than push that person off with another link or trolling comment just think back to when you were that "Lam3r" or that "N00b" noone wanted to help back in the 90's and how frustrating it was.
None of us started out this life knowing anything about software development, computers and networking, telecommunications, etc. But when a forum is created, watch out....everyone is an expert and "you are an idiot" if you have a simple question to ask. N00b's, don't let these loser's discourage you. Keep looking for your answers on XDA and you will find someone willing to help. There are tons of super cool members here.
And again, I'm with you 100% Xfanatic....

I agree with you about agreeing with Xfanatic...and Lam3rs should not get discouraged because there really are good people out there!
On the topic - this reminds me of the setting in older phones (maybe began with the first few colour phones?) of using GPRS for SMS. Never really understood if it had any advantage/disadvantage and it was disabled by default. I didnt see any change in performance if it was on or off, and also couldn't see a notable change in data usage but it was harder to track back then...

I was talking about phones from around 2002 or 2003...Nokia 7250i for example
This user's guide I found for the phone has the setting listed as one of the features - http://dl.owneriq.net/4/41149a6d-d289-4d77-b932-7006a2d469d8.pdf
IMS
wikipedia is your friend ref: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_Multimedia_Subsystem .. option remains relevant for new phones ie Nexus 4 etc. Sometimes registration is required to enable.

T-mobile definitely utilizes LTE(SIP - see above for definition) for sending texts. Not sure about other carriers.
Edit: I just tested on and off with or without registration, and really don't experience any noticeable difference regardless of how it's set. None the less, its apparently active on T-Mobile network.
