Anyone know where to get HTC mainboards? - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

I've recently gotten into the hobby of buying broken phones and reselling them for just enough more to cover my costs. (that's why i'm calling it a hobby).
However, I recently purchased a pretty smashed up Tilt - it needed a new LCD and an entirely new housing.
After investing that $140, I've come to find that the mainboard is probably bad, as it wont power on.
Rather than toss my money in the crapper, I want to see about replacing the mainboard, but cant find ANYONE who sells them online...perhaps I'm searching by the wrong terms, but I'm no web n00b...and I'm coming up blank.
Does anyone know of a reputable website whereby I can purchase items like the mainboard for the Tilt? Does anyone who reads these forums WORK for HTC, and like to strike a deal?
Please, PM me if you know anyone that sells these hard-to-find HTC parts...
Thanks!!

You might as well have just bought a new one!
Your best bet is to buy a broken one off Ebay, mainboards will be the domain of HTC repair specialists only and will probably need to be bought in bulk. They would also no doubt cost more than a broken second-hand device would.

Would be a rather boring hobby, buying working phones, dont you think?
But yes, this one is costing me a bit more than I care to admit....fortunately, I think I can probably sell off parts and recoup some of the money spent.... at least, once I call off the search for a replacement mainboard.

i remember trying to source a mainboard for an athena a while back and it was akin to getting blood out of a stone! I rang everyone i could find the number for and got no-where. You can buy a tilt for about 150gbp on ebay so one with a broken screen and housing damage (but a functioning mainboard) would doubtless set you back very little

Hello.
I recently killed my HTC TyTN II.
I know it needs a working Mainboard.
I want to give you an idea, about my 2 cents as Mcmexican says.
You need to go to a HTC Taiwain site and regiter as a Reseler or repairer. Probably you can get these kind of things in deeper sources.
Im telling you that, cause youre saying you have the hobbie to fix them. Me to,but im unemployed, trying to get a job,im broke. So it seems i dont have time and economic positive status to do it myself. And im in Portugal, momentaniously in an Economic crisis..
Im on an exausting search, cause im in an unknown new town, and need the GPS,that my Qtek 9100 doesnt have..
PPl in this forum could work all together to also get Mainboards at a affordable price, for ppl with less economic positive status.
I will start a new thread about that.
Thanks for reading this ppl.
We need Mainboards at a fair price .

ILL BUY YOUR DEAD Blue Angels!!!!

Im looking for dead Blue Angels with working LCD's im willing to pay good money for it.
How much?
Robin?
ive been quoted stupid prices from O2 but i know the screens can be bought brand new from about 160 upwards...
So make me an offer for your paperweight and well negotiate
Let me ponder.
It is actually an i-mate PDA2K.
I have dropped it 2-3 times and now the case is marked and the 2 parts of the case are really quite loose.
HOWEVER the phone is actually working perfectly, well as good as any of these damn phones actually do work anyway.
Robin
Excellent... well if you look on ebay Brand new Blue Angels with Tom Tom sat nav and loads of extras are going for about £250... so a damaged one... im not sure how much they should go for but i know what im willing to strech too... get back to me with a fair price and we can barter
Hey
I have an almost new O2 XDA 2s which irritates the hell out of me at times - how much would you offer me for this? Feel free to tell me that you don't want it!!
would you consider a part exchance plus some cash?
I have an Samsung E700 in mint condition, still in original box with manual and all accesories, plus ive stuck loads of ringtones and games on there.
Im willing to add £50 ontop of that. i could show you on ebay that recently id sold the E700 for £120. well actualy i can show you how i sold it twice and got let down by both byers... which sux.
But the phone is desirable. I just cant be hassled anymore to put it back on ebay. but you could make yourself some money on it.
If you want to discuss a price with me add me to messenger [email protected] or email me.
If not just PM or post back here
thanks & hope to hear from you soon

Dash 3g LCD
From what I'm hearing, the LCD for the Dash and the Dash 3g are the same thing.
Should be easy to find -

Can anyone else confirm it? Any guides/step by step on how to do it? I assume I will still need to get a housing
First off, it would be good to know what exactly happend to your phone. Like, what kind of accident. I may be able to help you with the issue of getting the phone apart.
I have the US Sprint version of this (s511 HTC Snap) and have a cracked screen from a drop to the floor. There are dash replacement screens on ebay for $15-$30, but ot find any confirmation that it for sure is the same one. There are instructional videos on youtube as well. I haven't done it yet, also waiting for confirmation that the dash lcds are okay.
Just dropped my Dash 3g this morning and am looking for the same info. Dammit! Should have gotten the insurance!
i would also like to know if the gash screen is the same as the dash 3G to repair a phone.Anyone know? Thanks
Bump, I would also like to know. It'd be nice to snag one up from ebay and replace the screen P:
Hi
does anyone know if they are the same? Cant find any replacement screens for sale on ebay.

I'll fix your HTC phone or provide parts
Hey guys. I have gotten alot from this website so I would like to give back. I own and operate a mobile phone repair shop and would like to extend my services to this forum. Most of you seem pretty techical so even if you just want the part (microphone, ear speaker, Loud speaker, LCD) I will provide it for you at a low cost plus shipping of course. I mostly deal with hardware issues so please don't PM me or post asking about software, I am a total noob when it comes to that!
Thanks again to all the rom builders and contributers who have helped make my phone awsome!

Screens and Repair Video Available
First, to answer one of the questions asked previously in this thread: This is not the same screen as the original Dash. The LCD itself might be but the connector is very different and the two are not compatible.
However, there are now several places online selling these. Just do a Google search for "t-mobile dash 3g lcd part only" and you'll find some people selling these. Note that they're quite a bit more expensive than the original Dash screens. That should change over time, though.
There's also a video of this repair on YouTube. You should be able to find that by doing a YouTube search for "Dash 3G Repair". This is actually a pretty simple repair (even easier than the original Dash) so if you're a little handy this shouldn't be too tough.
Anyone knows exact part number of screen? (Manufacturer and part number)
thanks.
DASH 3G parts
My just out of warranty Dash's trackball broke, I tiried to fix it myself and succesfully opened the dash3g, no good to me now so if someone wants a parts dash with no trackball I might be interested in getting rid of it, wend back to DASH 1 until I can get a Win 7 phone from MSFT .....

Replacement Screen

Just checking, anyone selling or know where to get a somewhat cheap replacement screen for the t-mobile vibrant? Mine has a cracked corner and I figured it's about time I got it fixed so I can sell it or give it to someone else to use since I have some spare cash to buy a replacement screen for it.
Been checking ebay and the entire assembly goes for around $80-90, seems a bit expensive or at least a bit more than I want to spend on one. Local craigslist doesn't have any selling for parts with a good screen either.
Or is that about what I'd be paying for one, not sure if that is a reasonble price, Or if someone wants to buy my phone off me and fix it themself, let me know how much you'll offer for it rest of it works
mods please don't get angry at this if it's in wrong section, didn't seem like a Q&A thread since it isn't on phone functions, and a screen is an acessory
I would check craigslist or eBay and see if you can get lucky and selling a working phone (there was one listed around here the other day for $60, guess they didn't know they could get more $$)
Or see if you can find a whole non-working phone for parts. I've seen them go for $40.
Then, you've got extra parts. Prices for just screens and digitizers are sky high.
yeah I've looked for parts phone to buy but couldn't find any yet on ebay/craigslist :S
problem with having extra parts is I'd be tempted to keep buying more parts to put the extra parts to use lol

Wouldn't be a bad deal if you could keep finding parts, fix them up and sell them to someone who needs a great phone.
that's the thing, I don't want to be in the job of selling phones lol
I'm just interested in fixing the one I got

I guess that settles it. You'll just have to get that parts you need. If you have any extra you'll just have to force yourself to ship them to me.
LOL

[Q] I'm looking for an One X NFC antenna

So a friend of mine wanted to open up his phone.
And internally he massed something up, and now his NFC Doesn't work anymore.
I suspect it's the antenna sticker.
Does anyone know where to get a new one?
Ofcourse I googled, and tried Ebay, but i can;t seem to find any!
Thanks in advance
I'd say he needs to get a new case
Never saw a sticker alone on sale
Sent from my iPad 2 using Tapatalk
That's awful, really. However, I know that some guys are just selling NFC antenna for different mobiles online in recent days. So maybe this time you can google "NFC antenna" and find them. Of course, most of the manufacturers like Sunshine Good Electronics only deal with wholesale business. Therefore, you need to be patient. I really that the result that I am seeking for is on the second page last time.
ej i tink hes right you need a new back housing, i got one from ebay a little while ago, it was like €22 or something like that.

[Q] USB jack broken - what to do?

Hey guys,
I got kind of a problem over here: While charging my Fairphone, I accidentally laid down on it (it happened on my sofa ^^) and sort of twisted my USB jack . Now I can't charge it any more - sucks . I tried fixing it by bending the USB jack back with a little screw driver, but it didn't work.
Can I fix this myself by ordering any spare parts? There's no separate USB jack available on the official Fairphone spare parts site, but maybe I could fix it by exchanging the Motherboard (that would be too expensive for me though)...
I hope I can solve this without having to spend a ****load of money Does anybody have an idea what I could do?

Bad news, buying the motherboard and some tools and using the iFixit guide is probably the only way to go, sending in the phone and getting it repaired would probably cost you even more (20€~ shipping to them, 112€ motherboard and 70€~ for the repair and shipping to you).
I broke my screen when spare parts were not available yet, send it in and had to pay 120,40€, +15€ shipping.

Well, if it's really gonna cost me 200€, then goodbye Fairphone, I'd rather buy a new phone (that means, if it's cheaper than the repair, but that's pretty likely because I'm planning to buy a pre-owned phone. That'll sort out my moral concerns ^^).
Anyway thanks for your answer :cyclops:

Supporting the fairphone project didn't sort out your moral concerns?
Anyways, I really suggest you get yourself a motherboard and repair it by yourself, just for the sake of learning something new and the proud feeling after you get it working again. Talking about "learning", will buying a new phone change the way you handle your devices? Are you going to put it on your sofa to charge as well? And are you going to twist it around some more after you broke, maybe the headphone jack this time, too?
Put all these things in consideration and spending 150€ on a repair shouldn't be a problem anymore.

Well yeah, of course, but they would come back if I, say, bought a new iPhone now. But if somebody has bought it before me, than whoever died for the thing didn't die for me Thinking about it after I've written it down, this sounds pretty ****ing pathetic

Well, I guess you're right. Damn. But the thing is, I just realized that I can't really afford anything right now, neither fixing it nor buying a new phone ^^ because the driver's license that I'm about to make is a little more expensive than I thought. So, for now, I'm just gonna go for my grandfather's old iPhone 3GS, and when I have enough money again, I'll think about this again
