Trying to get 3g dialer, WM6.1, and the large task manager all at once - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Hello all. I'm currently running CRC 10.4 rom and I love the huge task manager option (the drop down thing in the upper right corner on the today screen) but I haven't been able to find it as a cab. I also love the 3G dialer on the S64 rom but can't put it on crc10.4 b/c the crc dialer is cooked into the rom. I've found a nice 3G kaiser dialer but it just boogers up my dialer when I install it.
Can anyone recommend a rom / dialer / cab combo to me? I was thinking about using PDACornerPro.V12 and adding what I want to it, but I don't even know if that will work. I'm at the point where I would rather choose everything that goes into my rom, and spending some time on it vs. trying to cram in everything I can.
Thanks

you can get the latest task manager here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=399546
regarding the dialer: make sure you have netcf installed as well as some certs if you use schens dialer.
it also might be that you have to enable or disable the phone skin (use schaps advanced config for tweaking this)

Ok I disabled the phone skin, installed the 3G kaiser dialer, but now the smart dialing box (with the ugly scrollbars) is boogering up the look. I want it off of there. I installed the 3G dialer on my buddies phone and it works right. How do I turn off the smart dialer?

Figured it out. There is a registry key in HKLM\Software\HTC\PHONE.. something like "EnableSmartDialb". Set it to 1.

you coulod also do it via the phone's menu (smart dialing options).

History Recall/Redial WM6

Hi,
I installed the LVSW (Pro Style) ROM, and when I press the Dial button (green) - it goes into phone mode, great.
Now.
If I were to press the button again (to dial the last dialed number) then it doesnt work.
also if I press the joystick UP it doesn't go to history - like it used to with the original ROM.
any ideas on how to fix this?
thank you.

I've been asking the same question without any fixes. Not sure how to do it. There was a utility called "Smartskey" used in WM5. But I am not 100% certain that was employed in some of the WM5 cooked ROMS (Can someone confirm this??). I thought it was built into the functionality of the Hermes. I would love to have this functionality again.

Either use the WM5 dialler (just change to a WM5 dialler skin as described 200 times already) or simply notice that call history and speed-dials are already in the shortlist above the keypad with the WM6 dialler (unless you;ve changed settings in phone.).
I notice the same in all WM6 and it is a pain in the ass too. But the WM5 dialer did NOT work for me, I use a WM 5 dialer since it looks better but still no fix. I agree and have come accustomed to using the history and speeddial list a lot more.

I agree it's a pain. Can someone please fix this? Or do we have to install smartskey?
Anyone noticed that the latest Black v2.0 reverts back to the older style that we are looking for? Anyone know how this was done? Is it a new dialer or even an old WM5 dialer? The reason I would like to know is because other ROMs don't have this feature. I would like to install it manually on those ROMs.
I love the functionality of pushing the up directional button to get to history and not to scroll through smartdial.

Start -> Settings -> System (tab) -> TweakUI. Make sure that "Enable VideoCall" is selected (checked). Restart your device. You now have a WM5-like smart dialer with the features you want enabled. Up or Right for call history, Down or Left for Speed Dial entries.
John
install HTC_smartdialer2.5 and any wm5 dial skin and you will get the speed dial and history functions back. Can't remember were I found it sorry.

Can anyone please upload to a mirroring server? At this time we have to wait for 108 minutes to download...
thanks mate, I'll give it a whirl!!!
Simplicity is best.
Quite simply this is the best rom so far I have ever used on my device...
Most up to date base ROM, but with Dutty's help, just the right balance between function and speed.
I LOVE the 3D style virtual keyboard design too - I have been after this for years for a QVGA device.
It makes the VGA style virtual keyboard of the Universal look week by comparison.
Thanks loads Dutty mate - well done and keep up the good work!
The ONLY things I don't like is that the default Today theme using the cool black look, uses a 2D none-gradiented black for the top and bottom menu bars, and worse, if you change the theme to default WM6 glassy gradiented blue, the bottom menu bar stays solid black anyway. And that the phone dialler pad is the default flat looking pink T-Mobile style, as opposed to one of the new shiny black ones. I can easily sort this second bit out though with a cab install - it might even fix the first thing too.
So cheers mate!
Other than this, an amazing ROM!
What's the TMO_UK_3.60.110.1_6275 rom?
I haven't come across it before. Any more details?

Cheers for that mate It was just a quick modification of the rom. didn't spend too much time on it but just put bits in what i like. I'm not what you called a chef but someone who is learning from the master chefs and helping himself.
this was a bit easier for me to customise as its the same carrier rom as my provider t-mobile.
cheers again.
thank you very much

in regards of the dialpad as this is a t-mobile rom i tried to left most of the stuff un touched but you can try and install differnt dial pads.
In regards of the new task manager you have to go into options and add desktop, phone , contacts, to add to exclusive in x-button settings.

Just an observer here, but find myself wondering what purpose comments like this serve? I am just confused when I see people making comments that are just rude IMO when someone is offering a free service. Just confused as to why you wouldn't just add your own dial pad and looks to it and be done with it.
If this is as zippy as it sounds Ill give it a whirl right now. Thanks Dutty
windows live issues
Has anyone got connection issues with windows live has I just got a fix for now if anyone who is using this rom and got a connection issues.
I have been using the rom all day and havent got no really faults with it apart from the H icon when in hspda mode but looking for a quick fix as soon as i got those two fix i will upload a new rom with all fixes included
Nice rom , first time i have flashed my vario2 and it all went fine. Not tried windows live yet but have found I have lost my video calling button in the dialer (tried allsorts but it won't appear) and i have never ever had the hsdpa icon come up only the 3g icon.

quick dialer from cube as a .cab?

anyone know of a cab file for the quick dial contacts screen/page of the cube. it's all use the cube for, so i'd like to just have my other favorites (main ones being on home) mapped to a button. just press and it's there, without the cube animation etc.
cheers
or failing that, which files to extract from windows etc before copying to new 'cubeless' rom, if that's possible.
Standalone Quickdial.exe from Cude
Bump...
I have the same question (1.5 years later). Is there a standalone version of the QuickDial application from the HTC Cube (without TouchFlo and without the Cube)? I would like to call it from a shortcut on the today screen so that I can dial favorite contacts safely while driving. (A VGA version would be even better.)
--Scott
HTC Touch Diamond Sprint
BTW: I know that TF3D has a similar contacts dialer, but I have TF3D disabled because...
1) I can't customize the TF3D home screen to suite my needs
2) The device lock doesn't work in TF3D with device pin protection enabled, but the regular WM6.1 "Today Screen" device lock does work.
If someone knows how to bring-up the TF3D contacts screen with TF3D disabled, then that would work for me.

Please give me the old Notifications Manager feature back :(

Someone please help - I downloaded and installed Tarkim's Keyboard Remapping tool and it works great. I noticed, however, that it reverted my Notifications Manager feature back to the new TP2 way that you all seem to want and like. Before this install I'd found and installed Topaz's Notifications Manager that made the feature work like it did in my old TouchPro and T-Mo Wing before that, where you would click on a notification at the top of the screen and it opened each notification individually when tapped PLUS it gives you the old 5 Min/10 Min/15 Min/1 Hour/1 Day snooze options on alarms/reminders, instead of the new default 5 Min only snooze option offered w/ the Notifications Manager on the TP2. This may not be a problem for some but I happen to not like the new Notifications bar/window on the TP2 and downloaded the Topaz Notification Manager Cab to get the Notifications to work in the traditional way and it was working beautifully. BUT when I installed this Keyboard Configurator it put the old TP2 Notifications bar/window back but w/ some tweaks - When you tap the top of your screen in the Notifications area, the Notifications window opens BUT you are able to tap the Data bar inside and it opens the Comm Manager and the Battery bar opens the Power Manager. I think the SDKcerts has something to do w/ this but I really don't know??
I have tried uninstalling the Keyboard Remapping tool and the SDKcerts that it came w/ and the Topaz Notification Manager and reinstalling only Topaz and the old SDKcerts it came w/, but it still gives me the TP2 Not Manager screen w/ extra tweaks. I just want the old one back. Please, can anyone help me get it back???
Thanks so much,
Len
the Topaz Notification Manager is the new Notification Manager but adds the battery part since the TP2 NM takes out the battery guage.
It DOES NOT do what you want it to, so it must have been some other registry hack or app that you installed to get it the old way.
i hope this is what are you looking for:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=491676
A.
Xnifex, I think you're right. I did a hard reset back to fact settings and installed the following only and in this order:
1) Keyboard config (w/o SDKcerts pkg'ed w/ the program. (this made the program inoperable, by the way))
2) The original SDKcerts & Topaz Notifications Manager (that I thought gave me the old TouchPro Notification settings)
Result: Exactly what you said - TP2 Notifications bar/window but w/ enhancements to Battery and Comm Managers.
Gosh, guess I have to figure out which of the programs I installed that gave me the old way.
as_x1 - Not exactly what I was looking for but I sure appreciate your response and trying to help.
I appreciate you both and will repost once I figure out what gave it to me...I'm hopeful!
UPDATE: FOUND THE FIX...
OMG xnifex, I found the fix!!! And it was w/ the Topaz Notifications Manager...well, slightly. As I said before, I am a super novice, so with that said again, I just realized when I downloaded the Topaz Not. Mngr, it came w/ 2 files in the .Zip - the Topaz Not. Mngr Cab and a sdkcerts Cab. Since I didn't know what the "sdkcerts" was, and the instructions didn't tell me to install it, I only installed the Topaz Not. Mngr Cab file. Well low & behold - that alone gives you the old Touch Pro Not. Mngr options where you can touch on each one at the top of the screen individually and a bubble opens w/ their respective details and features. PLUS it gives you back the old Reminder & Alarm snooze interval options!
Needless to say, I'm very happy to have found this answer BUT I really want to have the ability to customize my hardware keys and keyboard. This means installing the Keyboard Configurator WITH the infamous SDKcerts Cab. What do I do? Is there anyway around this?? Can someone create an SDKcerts Cab that keeps these old Touch Pro Not. Mngr settings??? Or is it at all possible to install the Keyboard Config w/o the SDKcerts????
Well, there's my dilemma :-/ If you or anyone out there can help me, I sure would appreciate it!! I'll also send an email to Tarkim since he seems to know quite a bit about his Keyboard Config.
Thanks so much!!!

[KITCHENS+ROMS][WWE][ITA][Nov.04.2009] WM6.5 23504 - Sorry NOT FOR P3600i! OFFLINE

Download Now on 2nd Post
Italian Translations by "rubenalf"
This is the new WM6.5 23405 - Thanks to rubenalf for doing the hard work of putting the SYS/XIP together. I did some mods to it from there, and then tweaked the Kitchen for my ROMs. Notice the new Task Manager accessible from the Start Button (Tap & Hold). It also "CLOSES" programs when the X is tapped. Or, you can choose to Tap & Hold the X to minimize. Thanks to amarullz! Find more information over here.
Each Different Version will be listed on Page 2 (Might Spill onto Page 3) with the Download Link for each. In each Download Link I will post the Self Extracting Kitchen, an RUU_Signed.nbh, and an AutoFlash file.
What is AutoFlash you ask? I've taken the RUU file, added the Flashing Program, and Packaged it all up into an AutoExecuting AutoFlashing Program, and, it's a smaller download than the RUU alone. Pretty cool huh? Yes, others have already done this, but I'm going to make it a standard practice from now on.
"AutoFlash (tm), Making Flashing Socially Acceptable, One Package at a Time!"
My recommendation for Flashing is:
Make sure you have Hard SPL on your Phone. I recommend Olipro 1.20 - Click Here for More Info
Be sure your battery is at least 50% full.
Start your phone in Tri Color Screen mode. Steps below
--Unplug your phone from USB
--Hold down the Power & Camera Buttons
--While still holding them down, press the Reset Button using the Stylus
--Release the Reset Button, but continue to hold the Power/Camera buttons until you see the Tri Color Screen
--Plug in the USB cable (if asked about installing a driver, do this), You should see USB in the White Box)
Now you can Flash.
Run the AutoFlash file for the ROM you've selected, or Flash using the Standard Flashing Program included in the Kitchen.
Enjoy!
Suggestions:
For those who wish NOT to have a Startup Sound (it can be annoying) use my attached "Kill Startup Sound.cab" I'm sure this is going to be downloaded a LOT. If requested enough, I'll remove the sound completely.
Edit: From now on, the Startup Sound will be left out. You can enable it using the "Enable Startup Sound.cab" It's driving me crazy with as many flashes and restarts I need to do.
I recommend using the SkyFire Browser as your default.
Thank you to EVERYONE on XDA. Chefs, Programmers, Cookers, Users, Noobs, everyone! You've ALL helped me to be able to do these. I'm sure I'll learn a LOT more as the days go by.

I also hope to get that working. It's hard to do with these latest ROMs due to how much space they take up. I'll keep trying though. I did make one with an earlier ROM that worked pretty well.

Did you follow the directions on the post? "While on Home Screen, Tap Taskbar, When Icons Show, Tap and HOLD Top Right Corner Until Icons Disappear, Release."
If so, what problem is there? I'll try to fix it.
Yes, this new TaskManager "Showcase" is pretty cool. I'm anxious to give it more of a workout and see how it holds up.

Confirmed, ActiveSync over Bluetooth working!
I will do an SPBMS 3.5 ROM. You want it cooked in, or would you prefer to install it yourself?
It seems rubenalf and I are swapping Kitchens back and forth. He's now going to translate my version of his ROM back to Italian. Sharing information will definately help us all. Good Luck rubenalf.
my best compliments!
hello!!!
is it possible to make smaller some windows/text box in this rom?
it seems that most of 23*** ROM are made for VGA screen, but when adaptating them to QVGA, not all text box was resized....
it's my opinion...

Which ones specifically are you referring to? I'd be happy to try to figure it out.
hello.
i'm talking about:
-adress bar and zoom bar of internet explorer.
-windows of volume control.
-top bar of almost program (example: file explorer)
-menus from "file explorer", "Picture & Videos" _ i think all popup menus.
-space between files in file explorer.
note: when i'm using Resco Explorer, lines from each file are display very close, same for the menu (good).
tank's.
