Watching videos on t-mobile dash - HTC Excalibur

WM6 WMP11 Video Fullscreen Problem
Whenever I choose to go into fullscreen while watching a video on windows media player... it turns the video sideways... so it's the correct viewing if you turn the phone to the right if you're holding it in front of you. any fix? this wasn't happening in the beta... i remember there being a fix for the mda... but u could always change the orientation of the mda...
help? thanks!

i've had the same problem wondering if anyone knows the tips to fix it! appreciated!

I started 2 other treads about this issue at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=305020
and also in HF:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1154552
I'll let you know if I find a solution for it.

yeah man, please let me know if you find a fix to this. no one else is having this problem? I'm using orb too btw... thanks!

I'm having the same issue. WM6 downloaded off T-Mobile's site for the Dash. Win Media player orients fullscreen video vertically.

It only happens with streaming video. If you play a local video (storage card) in full screen it works fine.

question about Video!!
is it possible to view videos on websites such as youtube on wm6? I don't see why it isn't possible just was wondering if im not seeing the correct method to it???

Regular videos can be viewed no problem, are you having issues with them? YouTube uses flash to display the movies, so it's a little different. You can try downloading the Flash Player Lite :
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/devices/pocket_pc.html
I haven't tried it on the Dash, but you'll need something like that to watch YouTube videos. Backup your Dash before installing as always. Good luck!!

I don't think anyone's been able to get youtube to work on the Dash yet. The FlashLite adobe product only works for sites that are explicitely written to take advantage of it...and the number of sites any of us has ever found that do that: zero.
You can stream in and/or download videos from tinytube.net. That site seems to be some sort of proxy that reads/converts video from youtube into a format that can be viewed on the Dash. Works well.

getwsted at HF found a solution for the screen rotation issue:
Add the following Key "Rotation" under HKLM\System\GDI\
e.g. [HKLM\System\GDI\Rotation]
Then Add this dword.
"LandscapeMode"=0
It solved my problem with Orb and other Videos with WMP in full screen mode.

Glad you found it -- if you'd attempted a quick search here, you'd find that info had been posted weeks ago, and, you're just a quick search away from a wealth of info on how to edit the registry.

ok, i'm playing around with total commander, and i found HKLM\System\GDI\. so wat do i do now? do i scroll down in that folder to the add value selection? or do i go to file and then edit? and where do i add the landscape=0 thing? under that new folder that i just made, rotation? and do i put it as:
"landscapemode"=0 or landscapemode=0? thanks guys

this cab will install the registry entry

2 small probs with WM6

1- i'm using the clock on top program , and for some reason the clock doesnt show on top when your making a call or in a call.. i know in wm5 it worked, and thats probably the most important place for the clock
2- the stupid media player video issue, of it rotating every time u go into full screen mode.. i tried installing tcpmp, and it works for audio files, but for some reason u can open video files on it.. i know i used to be able to on wm5
any help would be great, thanks
omar
What program is this exactly? Gotta link? I want to see if I can replicate the problem on my Dash.
TCPMP has known issues on WM6 and Dash but I think there are workarounds.
RE: tcpmp - it sounds like you're missing the codex for your video files. Try downloading the tcpmp complete package from http://mobile.surrealnetworks.com/DashApps.htm.
I use TCPMP all the time for watching LOTR 1 & 2 plus other avi files all the time and it works great.

You Tube Download For Wm Smartphones And PocketPC

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THE ALL NEW HTC STREAMING MEDIA PLAYER UPGRADE VERSION, NOW WITH HIGHER VIDEO RESOLUTION OUALIYTY WITH LIVE DIRECT ACCESS TO http://m.youtube.com , THE DOWNLOAD IS LOCATED AT POST NUMBERS {78}, AND {85}! You can now watch YouTube videos live direct access on your wm6 smartphone!
Does it Work!
Has anybody got this to work?
The way you reading it is wrong ... up till now ... we have no way of LIVE watching from youtube ...
the plugin is just a plugin that let TCPMP interpret a FLV file ... this does not let you view youtube LIVE in your device's browser at all .. LOL
it's simple ...really ...
basically it's just a plugin that let you play FLV file format with TCPMP ...
you don't really need that downloader since there are many site online that let you paste a youtube link and among other sites that shows flash clip in FLV format ..
now that you have the plugin for TCPMP ( transfer the *.plg file into TCPMP's directory ) ... all you have to do now is transfer that "FLV" file to your device and open it with TCPMP. ( you still have to download it first though ... )
just google for "youtube download" and you will find sites that let you download the FLV file

I already got TCPMP ... all I needed was the FLV plugin ... that's it !!!
there are so many sites online that let you download youtube to your PC ... just google it !
some even let you download/convert it in different formats ( avi, mpeg ..etc )

Youtube on Excalibur. Does it really work?

Hi everybody. I just want to know if I can actually watch Youtube videos on Excalibur or it's an urban legend?
I'm using Ricky's v24 no opera version and I tried to follow the definitive guide (well, not so definitive) to watch Youtube videos (found in this forum using the search), I also tried Htc Streaming Media (a .cab file someone posted here) and none of them worked.
I use Wi-fi to navigate most of the time, since I don't have a data plan. My router has no blocking stuff (I disabled all for testing purposes) and I'm using Internet Explorer to browse m.youtube.com, but so far I got nothing but a "failed to find network" from htc streaming media.
So.... I really don't know what to do.
If anyone does, please, share your knowledge with me. Thanks in advance.
Easiest way is to use Skyfire it's free, also i use CorePlayer to stream of mobile YouTube.

Dude... skyfire is the one.... How come such a software is not a hit? It's almost perfect.... I'm curious about it. I'll try to search for it later, but so far... what a great browser! the best experience I ever had. I wanna say thank you all, for all suggestions posted here, but I'll keep with skyfire.
I use skyfire, and it plays the youtubr videos, but without sound.. any idea?
I use a Program called Vtap. The Program is small and simple it searches youtube videos, myspace videos and more and streams without any problems. If you would like to give it a shot go to http://www.smartphonefreeware.org/download/vtap-0.143

If that floats your boat. Skyfire is a memory hog, it has over heating issues (battery and processor) it will be ad supported (as soon as it is out of beta testing) so look forward to clicking through an ad every page click... na, not worth it to me.
Vtap
I use Vtap by Veevo. It not only shows YouTube but tons of other video on the web. Plays great!

I have to agree with Bupahs... TCPMP is definitely the way to go (if you aren't using Skyfire w/ a high-speed connection). I have yet to experience a player with more crisp, clearer playback than TCPMP. I found that the trick is you have to access the Desktop version of YouTube instead of the mobile version. The mobile version won't allow you to use TCPMP, but the other version will. How can you tell the difference between the two, you may ask? The mobile version will use a black background, but the PC (Desktop) version looks identical to the one you're used to.
I installed HTC Streaming Media and I access my browser through the Java application that should be on your phone (it came with mine) and go to youtube and I'm able to watch videos perfectly fine.

From what Youtube has advertised, you should be able to view youtube video on your phone. You could also use TCPMP with flv plug-in to watch youtube video...
hi is there a link for that also.
Come on - do a bit of searching, you would have found it without waiting for someone to reply!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=380387 - download the attachment under "CAB Download"
Get the Skyfire Browser and you can view the real websites in full screen fast including youtube, and zoom in. The videos work very smoothly.
Skyfire can run flash apps, videos anything, fast.
skyfire makes my dash power off randomly. it doesn't play youtube vids at all. any tips for making it work?
why not using htc streaming??

Problems with my new Tilt 2

I hope this is in the right spot!
I finally got fed up with my Fuze and I bought a Tilt 2.
I am having a couple of problems which I "think" is related to WM6.5
1) The sites that stream .mp3 will not open Windows Media Player and it tries to save it as a file instead of playing it. It looks like WMP isn't set to open .mp3 files??? Is there a fix for this?
2) I like to listen to audio from talkstreamlive.com and when I open the webpage, the list of shows is screwed up. There's no space between the list items, instead, it shows one name half on top of the line below for the whole list. I tried adjusting the screen zoom, but it makes no difference. If I fire up the Fuze which has WM6.1, all is well.
I tried searching for similar issues, but so far I haven't found anything like these.
If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate it!
Thanks
ITAdmin
Well I dont use WMP for anything anymore. I use Coreplayer and it will open up URLs and play mp3's mp4's etc.
This may be the easiest solution for you.
Thanks for the quick reply!
I installed the new version of CP and that solved one issue, so how to I make CP the default player instead of WMP? I know how to do these adjustments on desktop PC's, but these mobile devices are a new deal for me...
I also solved the screwed up display too!!
Thanks soo much for the help!
