anyone have this text message problem? or know how to fix it? - latest sprint rom - Touch CDMA Windows Mobile ROM Development

i posted this on another forum, but no one could help me, im hoping maybe someone here can help..
i just upgraded with
RUU_PPST_Vogue_SPRINT_WWE_3.03.651.2_Radio_3.42.30 _AM_NV_2.04_Ship.exe
now, whenever i soft reset, i lose text messages. this only recently started happening. i had tons of messages in my inbox, had to soft reset.. only about 75 were left... texted some more, soft reset.. only those 75 were there. that was with a custom rom, so i just flashed with the exe above, and its doing the same thing.. i text myself my number and it came thru and i coulud see both in the message window, but soft reset and they were gone.. texted the word 'yeah', soft reset, it was there.. so i thought it was fixed, but text again, soft reset, only the 'yeah' text was there.. so now thats what it keeps defaulting to when i soft reset.. why is this doing this??

What carrier do you have, that PPST is for Sprint only.

yeah i have sprint

I have the Sprint Touch with the newest rom you listed, and I definitely do not have that issue.
I have approx. 400 texts that I backed up and imported when I initially did the rom upgrade. Since then I have soft reset a few times and haven't seen any texts deleted. Now that they are threaded, to see the really old messages, I have to select Older.. Older.. etc but they all show up eventually.

OMG i thought i was the only one too!! i have this issue and it is really annoying. I dont know why my messages disappears and get deleted either.
i somewhat wish i didnt do this upgrade.

I have the new rom. (errr not the one that just came out today.)
Whenever I soft reset my phone any text messages I get within I dunno half hour hour don't appear when my phone boots back up.
If I have any email in my inbox that I've recently changed from unread to read revert back to an unread status as well.

for now, i've disabled the threaded SMS option and it seems to at least limit the messages deleted.
SMSInboxThreadingDisabled = 0

I have had this problem on several ROMs... If you soft-reset after getting a message, or sending one, you will lose it... depending on how long you wait...
Solution: Wait about an hour before soft-resetting after using any messaging... you will even lose emails... pretty nasty..

Another threaded SMS problem...
On my Touch/Vogue, I recently upgraded with the "official" Sprint WM6.1 ROM. I believe I've hit a solid bug... In the threaded SMS page, Menu>Tools>Clear "Text Messages" is used to delete all SMS. In this new ROM, the colored wheel appears but then never clears the screen -- it just sits there. Luckily nothing really bad happens, and it appears that the clear function actually works (all SMS seem to be deleted), but its just that the screen never updates. The original 6.0 ROM doesn't have this problem (but of course isn't threaded)...

Depending on how many messages you have, this can take A VERY LONG TIME...
it takes about 1-3 seconds per message... sometimes

Same issue here with dcd's newest ROMs. Almost like a human concussion. If the messages are relatively new (short term memory), they get erased after a soft reset. If they've been there for a while (long term memory), they remain after the reset.

Im having text messages arrive 10mins to 1hour late

this also happens to me. extremely annoying. props to anyone who can fix it.

Yes it is. The reason i mentioned closing the app before soft reset is because that will enable you to NOT lose any new messages that come in.
It was mentioned to wait up to an hour, that is not practical most of the time and is unnecessary if you close the app first and wait a minute before reset.

You're wrong. Closing the app does not prevent messages from being erased. You still have to wait.

I am having the same problem and it is VERY ANNOYING and I have lost important data!!! I lose both email and SMS. Does the official, non leaked version have this problem?

yes, the all do have this problem.

Help..Text message Inbox says I always Have "1 Unread" and wont go away

After messaging last night I realized I had one text in my inbox in both the touchflo icon, and in the normal windows message centert (next to inbox on the drop down it says 1). I thought I just missed one in my long thread but it was not the case.
I deleted all messages from my inbox, outbox and cleared deleted messages. No luck. I tried using the "clear all text and multimedia" selection with no luck. Numerous soft resets, and even switching my theme to see if it would vanish. I have been texting all day, and deleting and no luck with the phantom inbox. Any help would be appriciated to rid of this problem. Thanks!

This issue has been discussed in length here in other threads. Use the search function in the top right of the page to look for "SMS unread count fix"
Unzip this and put it on your storage card and then run the exe. It will fix your problem.
Thanks It worked perfectly. And sorry for the repetitiveness never found a solution searching, only numerous folks with the same problem.
Thanks again to you both!
This worked great!! Thanks!!!!
wow, it works on my x1
worked for me as well, although the problem came back... again... i managed to fix it permanentally by switching the phone from threaded to classic text view, deleting ALL text messages, then running the program. issue resolved.. it seems to have occurred because of the 2016 date stamp issue, one text was unaccounted for and coincidentally had the 2016 year stamp on it.
Hope this helps future readers - Mark
Hey guys,
I've run this thing about 10 times, and it's simply not removing that 1 from my homepage. The inbox doesn't show it but the HTC homepage does.
Any ideas?

It happens when you somehow texted yourself.. or so the theory goes... if that's not working I would suggest a hard reset..
I also suggest this thread be locked as this is the 100th or more thread about this topic
Edit.... also did you try soft reseting your phone after you ran the program?
I did try soft resetting. I used the reset button on the side of the phone. I don't understand it. I've never texted myself as you mentioned. So, I don't understand. And hard resetting is simply not an option. I have too much set on this phone now to go and update everything.
I'm using DeepShining's ROM from around February.
Hey, thanks !
It worked GREAT on my HTC Touch Pro !!!
Thank you again...

SMS notification stuck at "-1"

Hello all,
I downloaded a MMS and nothing showed up, next thing i know i have a -1 in the notification bar. Tried the FixUnreadCount.exe already, soft reset, PIM restore, and searched around only found people having problems with it being stuck at 1. I am running Energy Rom GTX May 16th.
Thanks!

Try unloading Sense and see if a message shows up in your inbox. Sometimes there is a welcome message from Microsoft that for whatever reason won't open in Sense, but will in Titanium. May/may not be the problem, but its worth a try.

Thanks, I did that, and even did a soft reset in Titanium no luck maybe there is just a tiny black hole in my inbox cause the inbox to implode?
Bump, if no one can help ill just reflash monday
flash away... could have just been an error in the rom you're running.
I have been having this issue for a while as well. I have to reflash about once a month.
Running stock ROM with Cookies home page editor.
I have noticed that in the registry that the second line is: Text SMS / SMS (1)
It used to be (0). I have tried editing the line. Even deleting it. but it keeps coming back to (1) on it's own.
I have tried deleting all SMS messages with the tools setting. it clears the notification until I get a new txt. Then it reads -2 until I read it. Then it reverts to -1.
I'm getting a little tired of having to flash my phone every month. Although I can completly reload everything in less than 20 mins now.
Touch pro 2 running WM 6.5, CE OS 5.2.21889
Any suggestions?

Tilt 2 Sense New Text Indicator Stuck at 1

It thinks I have a new text. I even deleted every text chain. Multiple resets. Ever happen to anyone else?
Stock Rom.
Yeah thats happend to me on my TouchFlo3D. Its a really weird bug. I think that it happens if u delete a message chain that still has a new message in it. Theres no way to fix it other than a hard reset cuz i went for about a month waiting for it to correct itself but it didnt so i had to hard reset. My best advice is to make sure u dont have any unread messages when u delete them
This happened to me recently i found an .exe app that corrects it for you. I don't have it here at work but i know its somewhere in this forum.
If you still can find it, message me and i'll email you the file when i get home.
No Hard Reset Needed....I understand your frustration LOL TRUST ME.
FOUND IT
here you go
It shows I have two new messages always for me too.
I just tired that file you posted because I have the same bug and when I run it, it says it found the the "new" SMS and fixes but it still shows up on the touchflo 3d.
When I run the app again, it shows no errors. However when I reboot the phone and run the app it shows the new SMS and fixes it, but it still showing up. fml.
I'm using the tilt 2 from at&t with wm 6.5.
EDIT: taking out the battery fixed it after using the app! Thanks!
ok so i downloaded the app but it wouldnt ipen on my computer. Now what do i do?

Too many SMS now messages won't work!

Hi all,
Having looked around I don't see anyone with the same issue as mine with regards to SMS.
I just got a new Nexus 2 days ago, and got the 4.0.4 update by doing the clear cache thing. All good.
I installed SMSBackup+ and started to restore all my text messages. Now I have about 21,000. Honestly I have no idea how I have that many, its possible some are dupes or something, I really don't know. But basically I left it to restore them overnight and woke up this morning with all my messages restored. Lovely.
But now, I tried to send a text to someone and it just froze. I quit to the home screen, went to go back to the message app but it just sits with a black screen doing nothing.
I presume its got something to do with it trying to load all the messages for the first time or something like that but I'm a bit gutted that it can't handle it. My old Galaxy S could handle them all with ease.
Is this a known issue on the GNex or am I asking too much with the volume of SMSs??
I'm a bit gutted if I've bought this brand new state of the art phone and it can't handle what my two year old SGS could!
It might have been the case that a couple of messages were corrupt. Try clearing the sms data and restoring again but only blocks at a time. If that doesn't work the messaging app might have an issue since your now running ics.
This could be an issue that hasn't been explored as your not the average user. I for 1 limit my messages at 200 a contact.

Thanks RT, but its so slow/congested it won't let me delete them either! I tried by going into the message app and choosing delete threads.
It loads every time I reboot the phone but if I do anything on it at all, it just shows me a black screen.
On first load I can see all the messages, but if I go into one of them, even one that is only 2 threads long, it just freezes on me.
Any idea how I can delete the SMS data without going through the message app?
Or am I staring down the barrel at a factory reset? (this isn't the end of the world as I only got the phone yesterday and haven't really installed anything yet)
Right then,
So instead of trying to do something with the stock message app to delete the sms messages, I downloaded delete old messages app and ran that before loading up the stock message software.
I think the next time I restore them I will try and put the 200 cap on them like my SGS did (I thought this was a limitation of the phone not an actual setting that I could adjust! I presume I'll find it in the stock SMS settings somewhere?)
Thanks for the help RT.
I've had that issue since froyo. anytime I restore thousands of texts, the messaging app just hangs. On the rare occasion it'll come to life but for the most part unusable. only solution seems to be to restore a small portion of your texts or have a blank slate

Quit being so popular. Too many SMS.
I made a second label in my GMail I call SMS Backup and every few weeks I'll change my backed-up messages from SMS to the Backup label so when/if I wipe and restore, it doesn't pull in all my messages. If I need anything, I can easily search for it.

To delete your messages / settings go into the sms app under Settings-Apps and clear all your data.
Yes you find the sms limit setting in the general setting within the sms app.

Where the hell did my messages go?

Ok so I had just received a text. Went to open from the notification bar and when I did it just took me to the message home screen saying "no conversations". I tried using Handcent to see if it was a glitch in default app but nothing there. Tried restarting and powering off phone. Nothing!
But what's weird is that there is no way in hell it could have actually deleted all those messages that fast (I had a 1500 message thread with one person alone). It's almost as if it just lost access to them.
Yes my phone is rooted and I believe I'm running one of the AOKP roms (been a while since I switched that's why I'm not completely positive)
Never had anything like this happen before, I know the messages have to be there somewhere, it's impossible for a phone this slow to just instantly delete over 2000-3000 messages.
Thanks for any help!

Dont quote me on it but i think text messages are stored in a database in the /data/data/com.android.messaging. I removed messaging from mine and use handcent so i cant really look. Just look for something in /data/data with messaging in the name.
I've had that happen on my original Droid a few times. I think it's caused by a low space thing, (which is extremely common on this device) and I've never found a way to get the texts back if they weren't backed up somewhere else. I agree with you that it's odd how quickly it can delete that many texts, though.

Thanks for the responses guys.
Cmlusco, Yea I checked /data/data and there was nothing there.
godsmacked, But shouldn't I have gotten a low space warning beforehand? My phone seemed fine at the time of doing this. But whatever, I had nothing important there that I needed.
But I still hate having lost all of them, maybe I'm just sentimental and liked having some of those convos. Especially since one was with a special girl (gay I know but whatever)
That happened to my friend who has an Inc as well. I don't see any way to get them back. SMS backup works I think or you can download go SMS to backup as well.

I can verify this happened to me several times using the stock OS. Never happened after I rooted/CM7'd it.
