ROM Porting. - P3300, MDA Compact III ROM Development

Call me stupid, but I have searched around ALOT on this forum for an answer to my question but have yet found any relevance to what I am looking for.
I want to start cooking my own Artemis ROM's. As far as I have read the easiest way is by using something called HyperCore kitchen. Now, I've started using this, but have found out afterwards that cooked ROM's available to download on here, cannot be extracted properly so as to be able to make one of them custom for what I want.
And as there is no official WM6.1 ROM for the Artemis, I am at a loss.
Basically, what I am asking to do, is to find out how to port a Kaiser WM6.1 official ROM so that it would be usable on the Artemis. Alternatively, perhaps find out what files are required from the Kaiser ROM to make the official WM6 Artemis ROM into WM6.1.
I hope I haven't confused you all. Any help would be greatly appreciated, maybe from bepe, tom_codon, Anja, NhatHoa? Any of you guys still about these days?

90 Views and nobody else knows anything?

This is starting to bug me now
I have looked everywhere. I have used the search, the wiki, google! I can't find any reference anywhere that explains to me how I can properly make a WM6.1 ROM for my Artemis using the required 6.1 files from a Diamond ROM.
HELP!!!!!!!

Start off with a base ROM first instead of porting. Porting can get very tricky and complicated. I'm currently in the attempt of porting a ROM (for the Hermes) and let me tell you, it's not easy. If you want to know more, i can show you what i'm doing via IM (faster) or here.

Cooks Help needed.

Just a little bit of info needed as I am new to all this cooking ROMS.
I am using the Core Kitchen which I have found easy when extracting a ROM and I have been using the schaps ROM as it contats the RGU files with the packages as oppose to the Black Roms which dont and I am not confident enough to be able to sort out that mess yet.
The question is in two parts and I hope you can help me a little.
Part 1: when you extract the ROM what is contained in the OS.nb file the reas on I ask is I want to get a Basic from MS ROM so I can start with my own ROM building as oppose to someone elses (VERY GOOD I MIGHT ADD) ROM.
Part 2: where can I get the RTM M$ WM6 ROM from a rom without any modifications or any added packages just the M$ PDA/PHONE ROM.
Please help this is the only two bits that im really lost with.
I have a Vario 2 on T Mobile uk
you might want to look at the FTP for vanilla wm6 roms...
the last time i checked, it was still there.
I have seen the Vanilla ROM is that the M$ RTM base OS then ???
hey guys,
can you tell me what specs you enter into duttys tool as im having problems?
thanks in advance
PDAJAS
ImateJasjam (HERMES100)
Radio: 1.20.31.10
Rom: Black IV Shadow
Olipro 2.10
Telstra AUS
Not sure im new to all this myself as you can prob tell.
Vanilla ROM has too many missig files that I cannot even find according to the tutorial with CORE an official ROM wont have any missing files schaps only has 1 which i know where to find it so can put it in the right place.
It just seems easier to want to start with a RTM official M$ rom and build on it rather than hack bits out of an already cooked rom.
the FTP?
Where is this? (it's early for me, is it in the wiki?)

Its on the Wiki i looked at Cooked Roms on the main wiki page and then it gave me a list of them that were avaliable. Vanilla was on the top of the list.
Skauk,
you can also give a look at the Dopod ROM posted here in the forum... even that its not the newes build, it has nothing added/mising; it could be a good start point.
Regards;
thankyou I will give dopod a look tonight then its so anoying that you cannot get hold of the latest builds that some of these people have so we might start without the bugs of previous builds...
if anyone knows where I can get a later build RTM that's not cooked already you would be number 1 on my xmas card list lol.
Dopod ispretty hard to work out also so anyone else help me find latest build wm6 so i can build on it ??

I would suggest you spend a little time in the upgrading section. As far as a stock windows mobile 6 rom, the problem is there aren't any yet. Although I think some upgrades may be coming along in the next few months. The roms here are pieced together from other machines or pulled from unreleased versions. I don't know of a true "stock" hermes wm6 rom at this point. You could get a WM5 rom to practice with which would show you what to expect, and what "comes with" though.
Good luck,

Rom kitchen???

Has anyone made a rom kitchen for the dash? Or successfully extracted the files from the OS?
I really want to cook a custom rom.
I did call me the cook...
I will take that as ricky or Kavana have it and thats about it
For all the lurking I have done on this forum that is all that I have seen, I have not been able to locate a rom kitchen yet. However; I think that there would be a whole new mess of questions if someone just posted one up. All in all, it would be nice, but the amount of hassle it would cause for the experienced people would be too much to deal with.

I would like a ROM cooking TUTORIAL

Hello People,
I wonder if someone could give a small tutorial how to start cooking your rom, maybe something as easy as putting a NLD wm into a 1.93 stock rom. I have been searching and downloading several kitchens, but nowhere is told how to start or what to need.
I really would like an example or walktrough the basics. I think I want to cook my own roms too, and I know I can bite me into these things ... never a cook too much is there?
I would be interested too. I have seen Kaiser kitchen but I never seen how to remove application from a room or add new one.

[i780] ROM Cooking Q&A

Hi guys, I started this topic for anyone that would like to cook custom ROM's for the Samsung SGH-i780 PDA.
So my first questions .. hopefully someone will know the answer I am working with the latest HL1 ROM and using EFN's kitchen (Thank you EFN!):
1. I am trying to add RealVGA to the cooked ROM - not via CAB but directly.. however I can't seem to find any guide on how to do this and EFN hasn't been to the forums for some days. Does anyone else know HOW this can be accomplished?
2. Page pool - I've asked several times yet noone has replied.. so, again - does anyone know how to change the page pool on the Samsung SGH-i780? PLEASE someone must know how to do this
That's the first two questions, more will come in time when I try to do some more advanced cooking
So far the kitchen provided by EFN seems quite easy and I've compiled working test ROM's (i.e. with Manilla 2D, removed ringtones.. etc.) - nothing too spectacular yet it's good to know these simple things work.

How to make a cooked rom

Hi Everyone,
I was wondering where I would start if I wanted to make my own cooked rom, like where do you get the os part from ? what tools do you need/use ?
Is there like a rough guide to make a very basic starter rom and do my own thing from there ?
Thanks
Have you even tried to use the search or read the forum?
There is plenty of information available.
I dont know anything at all about making a cooked rom, so am a bit clueless as to what to search for to get the information.
could someone provide a direct link to the coking rom thread? tried search, gave me mixed results..
you need a kitchen basically. probably easiest way is to find a rom that has a kitchen too and modify that. here's a link to a 6.5 kitchen
