I have successfully flashed to Kavana's WM6.1 yesterday. So far I have noticed that when I leave a program, be it calculator or text messaging, if I leave it idle for 3 seconds, the app would close and revert to the Sliding Panel screen. I find this rather odd since I have not encountered this app closing issue in any smartphone I used before. Btw I have a Dopod c720w from HK.
I would like to hear from any forumer who has encountered this to share his/her experience and what is the solution for this?

@ a random guess could it be to do with Settings\Home Screen\Time out: ???
Set Time Out to 5 mins and you won't get this happening.

But I get constant hangups...my device freezes (today apps running are spb pocketplus and weather, windows live search and handyswitcher)
Any known problems?
My memory card keeps dissappearing also, I know that has been a reoccurant hermes problem but the xda fix did not help.

IS THERE ANY WAY TO REMAP THE Messages softkey buttons?
The WM5 had "new" on the left rather than delete....I want the "new" to be mapped there...

SPB PocketPlus and/or Weather would be my guess... most likely Plus and Diary if you are using that one. As much as I love my SPB PocketPlus and Diary, they have caused every single ROM to date to freeze at one point or another. They cause the device to slow down noticeably too. But I can't live without either of them now, so I deal.
Since PocketPlus has quite a few hooks into the OS, I would guess that it doesn't play too nicely with WM6 yet.
a few problems
With my 8525 I'm having a problem with the amber notification light not blinking when you have a missed call or new voice/text message. For some reason I can’t get it to turn on.
Also don't know how to activate system sounds in this rom besides just screen taps. i.e. the sound the phone makes when you press the start button or when selecting a program. I see the sound files in the windows directory but they are never played.
Lastly I'm having issues with mms, my cingular 8525 wont let me configure my mms server settings for cingular. It lets me type in the info but it doesn't do anything when I press ok.
If anyone has any fixes for these problems, I would be most greatfull.

My phone also keeps freezing, its only ever done it while in standby not while i'm actually using it. I go to turn the screen on and it just wont turn on and i have to softreset, if i phone the phone it just rings out (down the phone) but the device doesnt turn on or ring or anything.
The only today plugin i have is pocketbreeze, i've installed a couple of apps but sometimes it'll freeze without me opening any of them so i doubt one of those. I also get my mail via directpush.

Me too having the same freezing problem, where the screen is off and never on again, no matter what button I push (except for the 1 mighty reset).
And I am having spb diary running all the time, too useful.
Funny thing is, I never try uninstall the thing to see if it mades the phone more stable. Will try sometime when the next freeze comes.
Freezes and not waking up ...
... several times per day. It looks of this only happens when the phone is on, not when the phone is in flight mode. I installed several programs, but already uninstalled SPB Pocket Plus and SPB Time (but still have SPB Diary, SPB Imageer and SPB Weather installed with their services in the start-up after every reset). I need to soft reset to wake up the phone again
Who is facing the same issues and are there any solutions? Thanx in advance
Maybe a next update will fix the freesing/wake up problems.
For the rest i must say that wm6 is absolutely signifcant faster than the old i-Mate wm5 rom.

Does anyone have a problem with a slow lagging keyboard while typing text messages. I noticed it after I installed the Black 2.5 rom. I have installed the keyboard mapping fix but that did not help the lagging issue.
I been typing like crazy today on my 8525/2.5 with MSN Live Messenger. Seems very fast to me..
I had the same delay...Can't remember if disabling the word completion took care of it or installing the memory performance cab from JJ that took care of it. I'm banking on the memory performance cab though.
I have noticed this issue a little bit, but if I remember correctly Ive had the problem even before isntalling any of the roms, and it only happened for the first set of characters that I types (usually the first word).
Has anyone else noticed this with the standard wm5 roms?
I've experienced the same issue.
I wonder if it was one of the patch cabs that I installed cause I have not seen a lag at all [yet]. Perhaps it is just waiting to pop up on me.

Are you talking about the pop up keyboard?
I think what the OP was taliking about is that when you first start typing with the pull out keyboard there is a slight lag, like with me, I'll start typing - it hesitates - and then it like catches up. Not only that but the screen even goes dim for a moment .

Nope, I was talking about the pull out keyboard. Seems to work very well so far. I just retested it in Work and in MSN IM.

Similiar typing issue here on 8525
I've noticed the same typing issue using both Black 1.2 and Black 2.5 were it often lags or simply skips a letter (usually "h" after "t" leaving "te" instead of "the" or "s" after "i" leaving "I" instead of "is")
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the 8525 keyboard fix cab, but it does not help.
Two things I have noticed:
1.) The typing problem does not seem to appear until several days after I flash the ROM.
2.) It really only seems to affect the Messaging app. (When I type into PIE forms or Notes, the problem does not seem to exist)
Definitely did not have this problem in WM5, so I am hoping that the problem will be gone in Black 3.0
this is a real problem. I have experienced it with all wm6 roms I have installed. I have a strong feeling its related to the suggested word list that comes up....but this is a rediculous problem for us to have to deal with and should be fixed. I also agree that its limited to the messaging app.

yes the problem i was originally talking about is with the messaging app only. i have no problems in word, or IE. I have the memory performance cab installed but noticed it before that as well. does anyone see a difference with the suggestive words disabled?

I actually started a thread about this a while ago but titled it in reference to skipping keys because I type so fast with the thumb keyboard that the device cannot keep up and omits some of my key-presses. However, someone suggested something that I had tried with WM5 (but it didn't work then) but hadn't thought to do with WM6.
Go to Settings>Input>Word Completion(tab) and change the "Suggest after entering" setting to something such as 3 or more letters. I have mine set to 4 letters and have zero problems with skipping or slow typing unless in a third party program such a TomTom.

but after changing to black 2.5 my time zone seems to be weird....i had tried to set it to GMT+8 Singapore time....but after a while it will change to another country thats GMT+8 but when i change it back to GMT+8 Singapore time.....it will be one hour early.....
I have the slow keyboard problem too.. Its making me mad.. And the black2.5 rom seems to slow down a heck of allot after a week or so use.. Any ideas why would this be aswell?? I only have 4apps installed.. One on today screen and rest only when i use it..
a slow keyboard is one thing, but skipping letters is another. (This issue pertains to not only Black, but also Custel, LVSW, and Dutty)
The thing is, when i text message, i start typing immediately after the window pops up. But for some reason, it lags, and then when it catches up i notice that my first 3 words are so are all butchered cuz letters were dropped. I didn't experience this issue with my MDA Vario / 8125. The worst that would happen is the text would lag, but would eventually catch up to my typing. And it WOULD NOT drop any letters. With the new wm6 roms for hermes, im noticing lag and letter dropping. I've tried the suggestion of even turning off autocomplete, and setting 1 word, 2 words, 3 words, and 4 words. Still having the same issue. I opened a thread about it long ago, but it just got closed because they "supposedly" deemed it a fixe issue. Well its not!
To clarify: I'm not trying to bash any of the rom chefs' work, as i am very thankful for what they do. But it would be very nice to have this issue addressed and fixed.

Hi and thanks for the sugestion , i tried it and my slow typing issue has gone. As an experiment i switched the rate back to where it was (about one third of the way up the slider) and its still gone. It seems switching the slider up to max cleared whatever setting was causing the slow down.
Im going to leave the phone on standby for a while then try it again to see if this has any effect on it.

I upgraded my Orange M3100 to WM6 a couple of days ago - it was a fairly pain free process and I got all my settings etc loaded on within minutes thanks to the community here
However, the one thing that doesn't work is the camera. When I start the app it all loads but the picture isn't right at all - lots of 'static' and diagonal lines so you can't make anything out. Has anyone had this before or have any idea on how to fix?
Not sure what ROM I started from but it I got the phone from Orange about 8/9 months ago. The OS was WM5 with AKU2.
I applied the HTC ROM HTC_TyTN_WWE_3[1].54.255.3_6275_1.48.00.10_108.exe
I won't go back - WM6 is far better than WM5, but I wouldn't mind getting the camera working too

In my Trinity happened the same to me. I solved removing the battery for a few minutes.
Excellent - that sorted it!
The simplest solutions are always the best - it's the one thing I never do once the SIM is in!

Perhaps that issue shall be put into a sticky item or as a FAQ item. The very same thing happened when i updated to Shap's 3.54b ROM. I knocked it, did soft resets but it still showed these garbled pictures. After removing the battery for two or so minutes all was restored to normal operation. Very funny but so far no explanation for that behaviour.

But:
It worked like a charm for about 2 days, but then it started crashing randomly. I installed Mortplayer and TomTom right at the beginning, so that's not the reason. Sometimes it even freezes during startup, mostly the screen just won't turn on after being idle...
Is that a common problem? What might be causing this?

And i realised when i select lock from today screen, it is locking. But when i do unlock it is asking password.
Any body have this problem. I am not locking anymore with main screen.
I think I found the solution: Just don't lock the device. It's working just find, as long as I don't lock the screen...what reason might that have?

Maybe this ROM is unstable sometime, or there are some bugs that is not found so far.
Yeah, I found it to be somewhat unstable as well.
The crashing during the idle time can be prevented by not using the screen lock. But still, yesterday it crashed twice on me during a phone call...I can still hear the person, but the screen freezes.
Hoping for some bugfixes here...otherwise the ROM is really good, and fast.

The battery drains very quick and gets hot. How is yours in battery performance ? Maybe my battery is dying....
It used to work very well for me but over the last two days I experienced crashes over and over again.
I had the same problem couple days after upgrading my HTC P3300 to WM6 downloaded from the HTC site. Tried anything I could think of - all the same. At the end I flashed back to WM5 (HTC_1[1].12.405.01_026790_WWE_SHIP) and all problems disappeared.
Apparently WM6 isn't tested good enough.

Same here. Sometimes I cannot turn on the screen after a phone call. But if I wait cca. 30 seconds, the screen turns on and the phone performs all actions for the key presses I made during the screen "freeze".

I've been reading the forum since I bought my Diamond last September and the information found here were very useful in order to change to Hard-SPL and installing new ROMs.
I decided to open this thread as I'm experiencing something strange that I was not able to find using the "search" option on the forum.
I have a HTC Diamond with Hard-SPL 1.93 OliNex unsigned, and I'm experiencing the same problem with the SwiftBL 6.5 12Mb ROM and with the Panosha 2.2 Full 12Mb ROM (currently installed). The problem is the randomly rebooting of my HTC. It is happening mainly while changing from icon to icon inside Manila: if I'm switching from "Home" to "People" or to "Photos and Vides", sometimes the display gets dimmed and the HTC reboots itself. It does not happen always, most of the time when I leave the HTC alone for a couple of hours and then I use it. Sometimes it reboots even if it is in standby, like last night: at exactly 12:00 it rebooted itself without any interaction from my side. Sometimes I switch it on from standby (getting out the stylus), then I click on the battery icon, and bummer, the display gets dim and it reboots. When I had the SwiftBL 6.5, I reflashed the radio (I have always used 1.00.25.05), but didn't help too much. The frequency of this rebooting is about once every 2-3 days, mainly while using Manila, but it's getting annoying because when it does it alone, the phone can't get any calls because it is waiting for the PIN to be entered.
Anybody is experiencing the same problem? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

maybe it's because of pp set to 0mb... had that prob,too with a rom some weeks ago...
so try one with 16mb (my suggestion)
