got a bt stereo that works good

Ok so I took back my Motorola s9 because of skipping problems with mt T Mobile Wing & now ive got the perfect headset, Its a Insignia Ns-Bthdp paid $53.49 @ Best Buy.
Ok it charged in 3 hours ,paired up nice and re paired when I shut off the device with no problems.Its SUPER LOUD ...wow I couldnt believe how loud these things are ..but its not as clear as the s9's were, I think if I add the EQ to my phone, I can fix that.
On a call it had a small echo effect for the the other party but on my end the call is in stereo(yes).These sit on the ear not in it and wrap the neck like the s9's.
The controls will take some getting use to, it will beep when theres an incoming call so you can answer, and you can return the last call as well.
So wing lovers there you have it a cheap stereo bluetooth headset that wont SKIP and its loud,light,and did I say it dosen't (SKIP)...lol

Hi Evil:
Sorry to ask a stupid question, but you may be able to save me some research, for what I believe may be an easy question. I just got the headphones you mentioned. They are great.
I was able to easily pair them with my Tilt, but once I turned off, next time I went to use them, I turned on bluetooth, and nothing.
Is there some additional step I need to take to get them working?
Basically all I did was make sure the headphones were on, then turned on bluetooth on phone. Am I missing something?

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but one annoyance with using this BT headset with my TyTN II is the need to go into the BT menu and manually activate the pairing every time, i.e., go to BT settings, turn on BT, go to Devices, long click on the i-Tech and choose "set as hands-free" and/or "set as wireless stereo."
Am I expecting too much? Or is this just that way BT stereo headsets work?

My HTC Touch Cruise and my Samsung SBH-170 connect automatically as soon as the headphones are turned on. Pressing play on the headphones starts my music only if either HTC Audiomanager or Windows Media Player are already running. My older Qtek 8310 (HTC Tornado) however would also start Windows Media Player on its own once I pressed play on the headphones.

Well, as it turns out, I had a defective headset. After exchanging it, it is no longer necessary to pair each time.
Regel, you are correct, it is VERY annoying to have to go in each time, and select "set as hands-free" and/or "set as wireless stereo."
Does anyone have a workaround for this, so that it will automatically use as stereo , and headset?

I'm happy it worked out, I usually keep bluetooth on all the time, as battery drain is very minimal. As long as the bluetooth is already on before you turn on your headset, you can turn the music player on at any time you want without any issues.
Thanks, I actually had first bought the headset over a year ago for $100, but someone stole them a few months back, and I was able to get a set on eBay for like $16 plus shipping...so the moral is that they can be bought cheap if you're really interested in a pair.

I am in the market for a set of stereo BT headphones for the gym, S9 seems to get lots of bad reviews..especially for getting them wet which is a problem as I sweat like hog in a blast-furnace...any luck with any of the sets you have actually being sweat-resistant and not interfering with running/lifting? TIA!!

All bluetooth headphones I have used, have automatically connected as hands free, but there is nothing to show this on the phone; just the flashing on the headphones shows it is connected.
Then pressing play on the headphones starts wireless stereo, and the headphone symbol appears on the screen, and the headphones make the little beep tone.

I only have 2 questions about it:
- Does it also charge the HTC device when you use it ? I mean is the PocketPC charged through the FM transmitter device ?

Why do you even need an FM transmitter when you can stream* almost any radiostation out there via mms, pls or rtsp protocols using free TCPMP player, for instance. All of them have links of that sort on their websites.
*Assuming that you have a decent data plan, of course.

Transmitter.... not reciever. However I kinda agree why do you need to connect the phone to the radio? Isn't that the point of the speakerphone? Thats what I use when driving,

this is supposed to be the best?...please get that outta here...try this the motorola t505..fm transmitter and bluetooth speaker phone all in one..and its wireless....google it..I just bought one and IT IS THE BEST hands down!

I agree. I bought this one about a month ago and it is the best FM Transmitter I have ever used. The signal is so strong that I hardley ever hear any static, even if I am streaming to a live radio station. I use mine every day as I am always on the road for my job - average 5 hours a day connected through bluetooth and streaming music from my phone to my stereo using the FM transmitter and only have to charge the thing once a week. This is the best one I have found so far and I have tried dozens of different ones.
Also - No interferance from the phone when you get a call unlike many of the other FM Transmitters I have tried - (NO Buzzing at all like you can sometimes get when phone call comes through when your phone is near a speaker or using a cheap fm transmitter) I use mine with my HTC Touch and Love it.

For my 2 questions, I have contacted the product manufacturer, the response it NO, for the 2 questions :-(
But they are thinking about making a new version, with charging capability of the HTC.. so maybe good new in the near future.

I live in Europe (France) and i have only a 5 MB data plan... Other things to do than spending a lot of money in my phone to receive the FM OTA !!!
So i use ONE FM X-Mitter with both of my cars...
You're not alone, in India !
PS : I use a GRIFFIN 6106-TRPUNPLS as i don't want to activate A2DP on my Prophet

THis looks great, but i already have a factory built in bluetooth carkit, would it be possible to simultaniously connect to my factory built in carkit and to this T505 only for the music?

OK I just tested it and this is what I did. I went into my bluetooth settings and for the T 505 I unchecked the box for handsfree and then paired it with my phone. I played my music and it streamed perfectly through the T 505 to my stereo. I then paired my bluetooth headset and placed a call to myself. The music still paused automatically when the call came through and the call was sent to my bluetooth headset and not to the T 505. After I disconnected the call, the music on the phone resumed and continued streaming through the T 505 to my car stereo. So I was able to connect and use multiple bluetooth devices at the same time with my phone and specify which device will do what - Stream music to T 505 and calls to Headset. You should be able to do the same - Stream music only through the T 505 to your stereo and your calls to your built in factory Bluetooth carkit it you want. Really there would be no need to use the built in car kit though unless your factory carkit displays caller ID information. The T 505 does not : However, I think it might speak the caller ID Number to you when a call comes in. I do not subscribe to caller ID to keep the cost of my cellular plan down so I can't really tell you how that works.

I have purchased 2 Moto T505( one for me and one for my GF). Whenever we receive a phone call, the T505 rings its own ringtone along with the phone ringtone. How can i disable the Moto ringtone(ennoying ascending tone and keep my phone ringtone to ring only)

I just assumed that it could not be done since it is built into the T505. I actually prefer it though as the phone ring tune is sometimes not loud enough to hear, but you will never fail to hear the Moto T505 ring

Yeah, They have always rang together for me. If you can figure out how to get my ring tune to come throught the Moto nice and loud rather then the default moto ring, that I would really be interested in.

That's what I mean. Currently, the Moto default ring is what comes thorugh the car speakers and my phones ringtone only plays through the phones built in speaker (Not loud enough for in the car)

i wish it was the contrary.i will try one more thing and see if it works out.But im almost 100% sure it can work without the moto ringtone.I just want to either set the moto to be either headphone or speaker via bluetooth.maybe thats the clue.

The age-old wired headphone question ANSWERED

Others have probably figured this one out, but from my searches I found no other posts.
I am somewhat of an audiophile, and i wished to use the in-ear headphones which came with my Sony Ericsson Walkman W810i (old phone) to listen to music on my universal. unfortunately, these earphones have a 15cm cord, which won't even reach into my front pocket. To fix this issue, I decided to get a handsfree adaptor (why pay ~$5 for a plain old extension cord?). Mine cost ~4.50 AUD on ebay from hong kong, and was originally designed for an iPhone. Many people have assumed that these (plain 1 button + mic + headphones/headphone socket) iPhone headsets will work with the Universal. this is not the case. After pluggin this in with my wonderful sony heaphones I noticed taht the sound was tinny and sounded very washed out. I realised that this was because the ground pin and microphone pin on the universal are in opposite locations to those on the iPhone. The ground wire (feeding the power back from the headphones to the Universal) was going through the microphone first, and it's semi-conducting nature was screwing up the sound. Holding in the button (completely analog, just provides a fully conductive bridge on the mic channel) fixed the problem. So to fix this whole issue, I opened up the case of the headset adaptor (where the mic is) and swapped the wire from the headphone socket ground to the other side of the switch (which connects to the other wire (iPhone mic/Universal ground)) with my soldering iron. It took me only about 5 seconds of soldering and it was done. After snapping the case shut again, the headphones now provide excelent quality for my hardstyle beats.
I do have a question still though. On the iPhone (and Universal) the mic pin is grounded to provide a button click. This pauses and plays the music and answers phone calls on the iPhone, and a double click skips to the next song. Does this button answer phone calls on the Universal (I don't have a Universal headset and never have. I think it has a button, but correct me if I'm wrong). Is there any software/driver I can install to let this button pause/play and/or skip tracks in media player/pocket player? This would be very usefull software, and should be easy enough to write if anybody has the skill/desire to make this software (since the microphone is accessible to software, isn't it?). The signal should change from the mic having lots of resistance to having effectively none (showing a constantly high signal for microphone (not wave)). Maybe it could just be programed to run as a hardware button so that other software (such as voice command) can use it.
I'm unsure if this software exists already but I havn't found anything in searches.

If the phone uses the headset button as the "green button" then maybe this software is still possible. Call Of Duty 2 for pocket pc uses the green and red buttons as game controlls, which doesn't change to the phone applications.

HI the software exist but it didn't work that good for me well search in devs and hack section and you'll find it and it can only function with some other 3rd party music player not WM player..
and yes uni did come with wired headset with button in it just to answer the call nothing more and it might be because uni is old and had wm5 as original rom....

ah that's what the button was for. I never could figure it out, it didn't seem to do anything!
on another note, I got a nice BT headset. Seems a bit agressive, but you could buy a cheap headset that has AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile) and rip off the earbuds to be left with the remote control.. (then again I'm unsure if you're wired headphones would fight with A2DP on the BT headphones, and you may need a way around disabling that)
(or for less agressive, look up AVRCP on dev and hacking and see if anyone has another suggestion).

hey jonny can you map a program in any key in your motos9 ????

I use my bluetooth headset and a long press gets me Voice Command, the only difficulty is working it with Pocket Player. I got it setup to work with Voice Command instead of Media Player which I don't use at all, but it only works for starting the music and getting your media selection (album/artist/genre or anything), but once you have your music playing there is no way to make another selection or advance to next or revert to previous. Still... not a bad going, I say.

I haven't really tried... mostly because it does exactly what I want
I have hands-free-phone controls on one side (volume +/- and pick-up call/make call button, can be used with hands-free dialing etc), and media-player controls on the other (next/prev song, play/pause button) (nb, yes, other volume +/- control also controls music volume).
I don't see why not extra mapping if you really wanted it. Perhaps make search on AVRCP.

However, if you don't want your music over bluetooth and prefer it playing over Uni's speakers, there is no problem using BT for commands, it's only becomes problematic when you send audio over BT. Starting programs and apps with Voice Command over BT works fine as well. Doesn't have to be A2DP either, a single mono BT headset works just as well.

Thanx . i want music... i'm just music freak and watch lots of video... but i also want be able to call my contacts, open programs without taking my uni out using voice Command so i just wanted to map Voice Command into one of buttons so i can leave my uni in my pocket... and for music purpose moto s9 seems to be irresistible...

Yep, you can definitely do all that. For me the primary purpose was to get the music going while my Uni is in my bag in the backseat, I just select 'Anything' and Voila!
Basically, a long press will get you a Voice Command prompt, no need to map anything specifically, and you say what it is that you want. I amuse my friends by asking my Uni all sorts of inane questions, like what time it is etc. The worst thing is when I don't have my BT on - the blasted thing reads all my txts and e-mails out loud. So people now send me all sorts of **** on purpose, just so that people around me look at me and my talking bag funny.

rajivshahi, just a thought. the S9's are great, but they don't have a microphone. so only really great for listening to music, or your sat-nav! but answering calls, the Uni must be seomwhere near your mouth!

rajivshahi, you're the man! Yes, I looked it up in my little book that came with the S9, and you're right. 6: microphone: used when placing or receiving a calls (embedded inside right ear housing)
I haven't tried a phone call on them/voice command. I will do so. Oh, this makes them my most wanted item... eh, what am I talking about, I own it

ok can you tell me hows the sound quality of the mic... can the other party hear clearly... as its bit far from mouth and embedded inside ear bud.... and would love to know how smoothly voice command runs in it ...

Handsfree Headset Pinout
I'm making a car cradle for my Uni that uses usb charge, and a 3.5 mm splitter to plug into the car stereo and an ext mic. I have no idea how this will sound with no extra noise correction (I have very loud speakers and a crappy freebe test mic), but I was trying to find the pinouts for the headset jack. the first post in this thread is as close as I could find, and after cross referenceing the iphone headset, the pinout for the Uni is left (tip), right (next ring up), mic(3rd ring up), gnd (closest to the wire coming out). really I'm doing this post so I can find it later; once I confirm this info as true, I'll add it to the wiki with a nice little picture.

Choosing a car stereo A2DP compatible

I'm interested to buy a new car stereo, in the way to stream directly the music from mine Desire over bluetooth. Someone got some experience about it? I would look to buy an used car stereo from ebay for this... any clue?

I have a kenwood KDC-X8016BT
does almost all.
can use the headset buttons to change the music being streamed via BT on phone OR other wy around.
Handsfree
voice dial
etc etc
the only thing I don’t like is.... when scrolling through the phonebook via the headset.... you can't use the first letter shortcuts .... you have to scroll them all from a to z. But you can set 10 numbers to the one push favorites button...

If I were you I'd only believe it works when you see it works... My desire reboots when connected to my carstereo via bluetooth / a2dp since the Froyo 2.2 upgrade.

Really ? I use my Desire with Pioneer BT600 everyday for internet radio, spotify, calls. Never had a reboot at all everything fine with mine, on Leedroid 2.1a atm

So, normally a stereo with a Bluetooth connection "should be" compatible with the Desire?

I have the JVC KD-R901 and the bluetooth streaming works fine, as does hands free calling with the Desire.

Good to hear! someone got another experience with Desire + one car stereo with Bluetooth?

Another question, can two different bluetooth devices work together or there would be a conflict? for example using the Desire plus this remote for the radio:

I have a JVC KD-BT11 few years old now but very good and never had any problems. Works very well with the desire both for calls and music.
Connects within seconds of turning starting the car and also works with the steering wheel controls in the car to skip tracks on the phone etc.

I use the Sony MEX-BT3800U with me desire and it works really well via Bluetooth. It even has a front USB socket for direct access to the SD card and is even strong enough to charge the phone too.

I just bought a new car stereo with Bluetooth 1.1 and 2.0 with A2DP (Marquant MCR-1257) but I got problem to play the music from mine Desire, can someone help me?
I connected the two devices together, then the instructions said that I need to change the autoradio mode (there are Radio, Aux, and BT-Play mode) but only the first two are selectable.
What I have done wrong? how did you connected the Desire with your stereo?

After some settings I finally connected the music via Bluetooth...but...
DAMN SUONDS SO BAD
The music volume is lower then the AUX mode, and there's this costant background sound that ruins the sound so much
It's that normal that Bluetooth sounds so bad? Als digital sounds should not be better compared to the Aux?

That doesn't sound normal. I've had a similar sound problem with stereo headphones when it thinks the headphones are mono headset. Rebooting both devices and reconnecting helped.

Check the media volume on the phone is set to full whilst you are streaming over Bluetooth.

I tryed both, I disconnected and riconnected the device from zero, I checked the volume level (max) but it's still sounds worst (quality and volume) compared to AUX.
Any other clue?

i got a pioneer and all is good. even downloads my phone book so no rooting through phone when driving to make a call. Best advice is to go to a proper car stereo place and ask them for advice as they have seen and done it. from my experience stay away from halfords. Talk to these guys http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/store-finder.htm they have always been able to help me with anything

Resurrection of post
So for bringing back a relatively old post, but I am about to invest a considerable amount of money into my car stereo system, and am looking for the perfect head unit for the following:
Samsung Galaxy S I9000 to work with A2DP for streaming music and making calls (needs phonebook reading etc)
Ipad to work with Apple Connector direct to headunit (Mainly for audio, however Video playback would be awesome via the Apple Video Connector)
AUX input for other people's devices
DAB Radio
USB port for flash disk
Do you think all these requirements can be satisfied with one super mega ultra headunit?
Sorry for posting in this forum despite my lack of a Desire, however I couldn't find a similar topic in the I9000 forum!
Thoughts on a postcard perhaps?

I'm also considering buying a Kenwood KDC-8016BT to use with my Android phone. Can you confirm how the voice dialling works that you quote it can do? The manual on the Kenwood website implies that only the KDC-X7016/KDC-X7016L can perform voice dialling calls (perhaps because this unit uses the external Bluetooth box which may be higher spec’ed that the one built into the KDC-X8016BT? Anyway, it seems strange that the higher spec'ed unit overall couldn't do this. Can you please confirm voice dialling is indeed a feature of the KDC-X8016BT? If so, does it require pre recording of voice tags (as the Kenwood manual implies is required for the KDC-X7016/KDC-X7016L) or does it just activate the voice dialler built into the phone - thus the intelligence for the voice dialling is in the phone rather than the car stereo?

Bluetooth headset for these purposes?

I am kinda lost with this... without doing my research i bought a couple Bluetooth headsets over ebay etc but none of them seems to have fulfill my requirements... i am looking for a headset which
1. to use with phone audio, not just calls
2. stuff like music, radio, youtube etc
3. is only one ear... no wires
4. as small in size as possible
5. compatible with samsung galaxy s3
Any help will be greatly appreciated

1 ear headpieces are mono headsets. Under your bluetooth settings, select the paired headset and see if you have the option 'media audio' and make sure it is checked. Additionally, the S3 has a 'Mono Music' widget built into touchwiz. I suspect the widget will give you what you want. If all that doesn't work , you can buy one of these type of bluetooth headsets like the Samsung HS3000 and replace the detachable ear phones with single mono ones.

Since you already bought a couple, i would first try to get those to work. No point buying more. I don't think that link on ebay works either. The headset itself has to support bluetooth A2DP profile , which most , if not all mono headset aren't designed to do. Again, i would try to configure the software as mentioned earlier to get it to work first.
You should google the following sentence which will help :
"android streaming music to mono bluetooth headsets"

Any ideas where this "mono music" option might be ? settings? i cant seem to find it...

Its a widget, add to home screen first, then toggle it

Well PROBLEM SOLVED. An app called BLUETOOTH AUDIO made all my mono headsets work like a charm... Thanks everyone for their help.

I am using a similar JB app on my iPhone to send all audio out to mono bluetooth headset. You can also search for "bluetooth mono headsets with a2dp" on google. A2DP headsets will accept stereo bluetooth connection even if the headset is mono/one ear.

Don't know if you care about sound quality at all, but the GS3 supports apt-X and the HS3000 someone mentioned also supports it. You just need t switch out the double to a mono earpiece.
Also I've seen this headset on Amazon that is a clip-on that had a single retractable earplug:
