[WWE][02.11.2008] cmE 0.9 beta (CE OS 5.2.20924 Build 20924.1.5.0)
Version 0.88 beta was built from scratch with newest SYS and XIP port 20755. I'm asking you to test the ROM. I am sure I missed more than enough bugs which need to be fixed. I used the ROM for the last couple of days and tried to fix the major bugs - so it should at least be usable. Please report any bugs as PM or in this thread as detailed as possible. That said, I hope you like and enjoy this beta version.
What makes this ROM special?
Like many other ROMs these days, my ROM has Manila2D as a today plugin cooked in. But unlike most of the other ROMs, I didn't include all of the Manila2D package but only the basic files to run Manila2D with the basic tabs properly. If you want to use the Picturetab e.g. you have to install a CAB after flashing the phone. Same for the YouTube player... and so on. This way I saved much program memory. After system start my ROM has ~27MB free program memory and without activating any other tabs and with normal daily use you will still have ~23-24MB of free program memory. This means you can operate the device without slowing down considerably.
This version is published as a business version, because problems with removing programs from the new 20924 SYS. I will publish the light version without Office etc. as soon as I can fix the problems.

Same problem encountered here, I cannot read sms in chinese even though I have installed the chinese font package.
I think it has something to do with the default system font you use or maybe other reasons.

Hi,
Yes, thats possible. I dont use Tahoma as default font. I will post another package with the default Tahoma system font today or tomorrow ...

Thanks, I really need this rom for Chinese.
I too would appreciate a version with the default font if it came out. If not, then this is fine.
After trying all the ROMs with M2D cooked in, I had determined they were all too slow and I was about to go back to HTC Home. Then I decided to do a clean install of tnyynt's SEXY ROM and then manually install M2D to try to get a faster version. Well, I did, and it was faster. Then tonight I figured I'd try this cooked version and I have to say wow! MUCH quicker than the version I was able to create by installing manually, and MUCH faster than the other cooked versions I've tried so far. None of that long lag between tapping and reaction.

Concerning the Manila interface, 'Google Maps' and 'Internet' links don't work. Needed to configure the 'HTCHomeSettings' xml file, following the recommendations suggested by twolf in another thread.

I deactivated some of the tabs, like google maps, photos and music, but the Internettab should work fine right off flashing. You only have to install Opera to make the big 'world-link' working.
I think I will include the Manila2D Customizer found here in the next version of the ROM. XML editing for the tabs wont be necessary any more.

This ROM is based on tnyynt's ROMS. He's made three P3600i versions you can get here. They have the blue theme, and dialer, etc...

Is there a registry guide I can use to revert back to Tahoma, I guess I can do it manually. I hope this way I can get the chinese reading working.

my recommendation for flashing:
boot into spl (press buttons power + camera + stylus) -> connect to pc -> start ROMUpdateUtility -> follow instructions until flashing starts -> no need to soft or hard reset until screen alignment start (tap the screen to setup...)
this may take a while and screen goes black during upgrading procedure, but it works (did it several times here now to test)

any reason you didn't cook Manilla 2D into the ROM? Judging by the reponse, I reckon you will get many requests for a Manilla 2D version of the ROM. I will post updates...

For me this rom sounds interesting to check out, but im only in to testing if you'll cook M2D into it as if i install it in afterwards, things get slowed down way too much.
So if you decide to cook in M2D, i'll be willing to test out your rom
Hope you get some feedback on how your rom is doing so you can keep making the best rom for us
For now, i'll leave the testing for others who find they dont really use M2D!

actually i do use network plugin and it works fine
M2D: ok, response is overwhelming - i will update this rom today back home for manilla2d version.. i do have working packages, but i haven't yet decided which one is best.. i have about 5 oem packs to cook.. but i guess i will just use the one which fits best in color

I'm glad it works fine for you! My testing with your ROM shows the same behaviour as others: In File Explorer (fexplore.exe in the /Windows folder of your ROM). the selection top right allows selecting My Device or Storage Card, but not /Network as file system root.
It works for accessing network shares, but I need to build my Windows media Library from my network share - and this ROM will not allow it!!!

Really don't know whether or not it's the Windows Version, the Windows Media Player Version... what'doing this... but I had it working with 017TNYSTD - CE OS 5.2.20273 (Build 20273.1.3.3) WWE I believe. Also tried different versions of the HTC NEtwork plugin - they all do the same really!
It may be that MS has messed it up. Or maybe a missing reg key (although that would be in the cab). Anyway, thank you for your help.
didn't you port also shell32.exe???
infact new touchflo.exe doesn't work, and I cannot move folders up/down by fingers.....

yes i did already notice the ringtone problem (my employees couldn't reach me at lunch ) ... already had this in prev build, just the files are missing
i will also look for the context menu thing..
i did publish this rom, because 'more eyes see more'
thanks for testing my rom ... as i wrote in my intro, it's a preview and it was never intent to be bugfree
i'm already rebuilding and i'm sure we will manage this

Thank you! I think that there are plenty of Manila roms going around. There are some people that are interested in "lean and mean" without the fluf. I am someone that needs as much horsepower, speed and free ram as possible, while retaing the necessary apps like office, MMS, IE etc. I am only a user and you are the boss so I can only suggest Currently all the new build roms have manila, why not go back to basics with a new build.

This version is a complete rebuild. Since there was almost no interest in an ultra light ROM, I cooked this one with some useful apps. Besides that, you will get the newest XIP and SYS.

Yes, there will be two versions. One w/o Manila2D and one with Manila2D (but it will stay light as well - so no Youtube and so on ...).
The Manila2D version will have the configurator build in for switching the tabs on and off.
What about Streaming Media and a Registry Editor? This coult be a good option for Vodafone Users. I also wish, that Opera 9.5 is included in your Rom.
Sry, I wont add such things to the ROM - at least its not planned for this version. It will be as clean as possible. Streaming Media, Registry Editor and Opera can be easily added by the device user.

i know that it is hard to do but are u able to creat a version with as much as memory as posseble (about 27-29mb) i don not know how to coock a rom so i am not able to imagen the possebilities.....maybe a lite version?

Should be ready later today. I fixed the major bugs and its running fast with 24mb free memory with Manila2D running.
Since I rebuild this ROM from scratch, I am sure there will be some more bugs which you will encounter ...

XDA_UC will run during first boot up, at the end you will be asked few questions :
- Autolock Mode Configuration (Enabled/Disabled)(be aware that it used almost 5MB in RAM).
- Autorotation Mode Configuration (Enabled/Disabled)(be aware that itused almost 5MB in ram).
- If you want to create a shorcut for Navigon (as I am using it, I am too lazy to create the shortcut each time I hard reset my phone)
This shorcut is usefull only if you already have the software on your internal storage.
Shortcut is for navigon, it will be created a shortcut for Internal Storage/Navigon/MobileNavigator.exe.
- If you want to delete the MMS Templates (My Documents/Templates).
- If you want to Install a black skin for S2U2 2.4 (be aware that it used almost 6MB in RAM) You need to have S2U2 previously installed
- If you want to use Gen.Y DualBOOT
- If you want to reaarange the shorcut of the Start Menu.
- If you want to restore you PIM, in using the file : "Internal Storage\MyPim.exe" (from resco backup for example).
- Then the device will reset itself.
The connection setup auto launcher will show up after the second boot up.
You have the possibility to run the config script (located on start menu or start menu/system, it will allow you to reconfigure your phone as you can configure it at the end of the XDA_UC).

What happened to the Weather on Today screen? and MSN Weather?
navigon and city advisor are just shorcut on start menu. You need to have already the .exe on your internal storage, at the place I specified in the first post.
For the bluetooth icon I think it is a build issue, I will post a new rom with 23529 next week (with more free ram, I am trying to win some).
In this new rom I will use the standard titanium with the weather.

Noticed that the default microsoft lockscreen consumed almost 5 up to 6 Mb of Program Ram after it's first used, as a consequence on my next release the autolock will be configurable as want the final user.

Maybe because of certs as I can't launch neither HTCAlbum nor PhotoPicker, Uploader.exe.
Better to have Ezinput because the new MS keyb. doesn't have xT9 and other languages
Is it a bit too low with PagePool 6MB ?
Since you already use XDA_UC after the second boot will it be better to run further the start menu grouping?

- New keyboard with language selection during XDA_UC.
- PagePool to 10Mb.
- XDA_UC will run at first boot.
- SYS/XIP updated (23549/23547).
- Some programs updated.
- New taskbar.
Everything's ready excepting some issue with the keyboard. As soon as I find a solution for this, and a few tryout, I will upload it.

With PagePool I think better to use 8 Mb; well balance btw. speed and performance

**Any Apps you want to install using TierAutoInstall place them on the ROOT of your SD Card before Flash.

How to Flash this ROM...Step 1. Enter Bootloader Mode by Holding down the Power Button, and Camera Button, then Press the Reset Button and plug your device into your PC.
Step 2. Run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe
Step 3. Follow The Steps and Wait
Step 4. Once you see the Screen that says "Tap the Screen ...", wait another 15 seconds or so! (Allowing for all the apps to load in the backround)
Step 5. Align Screen (Tip: Press lightly)
Step 6. Set Date and Time, Hit Next.
Step 7. The Phone Will now be loaded... Tap the Top Left Conner of the Screen and Select Tier Autoinstall
Step 8. Select your Cabs you want that are stored in your SD Card, and Hit Install.
Step 9. Device Will soft reset when done!
Step 10. Enjoy!

The screenshot is from Version 4.1 (noted), there was nothing of value to change the screenshot so I just left it the same. But thanks for pointing it out...
thanks lmiller for a nice ROM, been trying a couple of ROMs this weekend, only your ROM had all the stuff I want pre-installed, didn't have any necessity to install anything else, speed is good, everything works like it should... also liked your idea of keeping old manilla, the new one just didn't work right for me....

This version of M2D does not have weather on the home tab...
I didn't setup the Windows Default home, I will leave that up to the user.
Timing was great...
I was looking to flash something new as I have been having some issues with previous ROM (not yours) so I grabbed this and loaded it.
Everything seems to be working great actually, nice and fast. I am not using Manila though so no clue on how that works, but it started up OK and I checked all the tabs too.
I loaded a few Titanium panels, installed Marketplace, loaded EZINPUT (SPB keyboard - not my style), loaded Opera. With Verizon CAB Internet works, I made a call - so it all seems to be OK. Mega dialer was a nice surprise too (and no scroll bar!).
Overall - so far so good, great actually. I'll post if I run into something.
Oh yeah, one thing... that PPCKitchen branded background at soft reset needs to go but that could be just me.

You have the Mega dialer without the scrollbars on it? Which cab/package are you using? I've been going in circles trying to find a dialer that has no scroll bars on it.

couple of issues i ran into after testing ur ROM since sunday
1. on the regular dialer, if i want to ignore a ring, usually, i press the volume button and the vibrate is silenced ( i dont want to hit ignore softkey as that might feel rude to the caller, i just want it to go to voicemail after 5 rings), but in this dialer i am not able to silence the vibrate of my phone by going up/down on volume control..
2. is it possible to shorten the vibrate time for missed call/voicemail/sms when phone is in vibrate, it vibrates for like 30 sec or so...
is the new dialer a htc vogue dialer? the one thing i miss about the original htc vogue dialer is its ability to tell me which state the person is calling from( for USA folks).. is there a dialer which i can use which will get me that feature.. i dont mind if the dialer is bland or anything...
other than that, every other feature works perfect, smooth, nice and fast...
r u planning on creating any ROMs in the 21*** branch, i personally feel the new layout is for newer/bigger screen phones and half the buttons are truncated for my small little vogue...

If you install CompactSense you'll have to put the manila file thereafter in the windows folder (with totalcommander) to correct an alignment in the Start menu.

As you want, you can follow the order shown in the attached files, btw I 've put a link to download the Laser taskbar.
Hi,
This ROM looks very fast (I installed it as-is without the extra cabs).
However, I cannot activate my Wifi connection. The Wifi connection is grayed out in the Connections Manager. Any idea why?

Yes it did, I'm not sure why it's deactivated now. I'll try to reflash later, for now I can do without wifi, I just wanted to mention the issue.

Wow! Thanks for this rom! Bought a used, very cheap Diamond just to play with beside my Desire (cause i missed WinMo just a little)
Tried 5 different roms last two days and all were way too buggy, though some of them had some cool features, I admit...
EVERYTHING seems to work in this rom! Fast, clean and very stable. No freezes in one day´s heavy use. It´s just like using the original Winmo 6.1 Touch diamond2.
Too bad there´s no donate-button

edit: everything was going smoth until I clicked start button and realized it was a programs tab lookalike. if it wasnt for that the rom was perfect. put in a decent wm start menu and you have yourself a winner ROM.

tks for the tip mate, will probably stick to this rom with that tweak.
Just one question: is there any way that start menu open all programs instead of the programs shortcuts (+) ?
Hi, this is my first post on this forum, just to tell you how gratefull I am for your excellent rom!
The rom still runs great, but wifi connection on youtube and opera goes up and down. Renew IP-adress seems to help sometimes. But this problem I have had with almost all HTC Winmo devices
Also, the Laser taskbar didn't "open" sometimes + caused the home screen flip clock to stop - but a reinstall helped

I just bought a HTC Diamond, and I tried a bunch of different roms, ranging from Android to Windows Mobile. I have to say that this is the best one of them all! It's extremely fast for me, and everything works without any problems. Great work!
The only thing I'm concerned about is that the task manager closes all of my applications automatically.
I launched the FM Radio, put that in "exclusive" apps in the task manager, and tried to launch Opera Mini after that, and the FM Radio closed instantly. So I can only run one application at a time.
What should I do to be able to run FM Radio, nanoGroove and Opera Mini in the background? Please help!

I have no answer, I've tried and yes radio is shutting down. Listen to your music instead of radio, it's working or maybe with a smaller page pool.
If some1 have a clue he's welcome...
==>ANSWER: it is a memory issue. I switched off Sense and tried again and then it's working.==> So, do that trick or try to set a smaller page pool before reinstalling. (Be conscious it will slow down your mobile.)
