I can only acess Three network and pay roaming fees, roams on to telstra, - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Anyone know how to solve this one?
For a jasjam I-mate with withdows 6, using a sim from three
Imate configurator is running, there is three coverage,
I installed the 'CWW Enterprises AUS Operator Con'
Which gives the point access name etc as far as I can tell.
I see the 3G pop up then is replaced by E.
I end up paying roaming fees. ????????????
Also trying to track down the remove telstra programs for dopod.
???????????????????????????????????????????????
do I need to go 'super cid ' and get dopod rom??????????????

From start menu go to
settings
personal
phone
band
set the network type to auto
select GSM (900+1800)+UMTS(2100+850)
go to network
click set network
select new network
and select AU 3TELSTRA (06) and ok
and you should be set you may need to select find network after that and it may take a few min to kick in. you'll know if its worked if under the current network it says UMTS 3.
you may need to select find network a few time but it should get it eventualy.

GSM Frequeny

I have a Orange SIM card which I got in Israel, I am now in Canada and that SIM works fine on my friends Nokia 6600, but when I try to use it with my XDA IIs I can't find any networks or anything. I am guessing its the GSM frequecy although the phone supports all of them. Does anyone have any idea what I need to do to get the SIM to work here? Does anyone know how to manually select a GSM frequency?
XDA IIs
ROM Version: 1.40.00 WWE
Radio Version: 1.15.00
Protocol Version: 1337.45
Hello psytech,
I believe you're roaming. Sometimes, you really cannot just plug your sim card then voila its working. If you are roaming, most of the time you really have to manually select the network.
anyway, i'm currently using windows mobile 2005, and no longer using windows mobile 2003 SE. i hope i could still help you or atleast you can see the pattern on how to do it.
here what you do:
1. click on the signal strength icon (the icon located on the upper right most portion of your screen just beside the speaker icon)
2. a dialogue box will appear with a clickable 'settings' button (located on lower left part of the dialogue box.), click the 'settings'
3. you will then see 3 tabs on the bottom part of the screen, 'phone', 'services', 'network'. click on 'network'.
4. you should find something like 'find network' button there, then just but before you click on it, choose 'manual' for network selection.
the rest is self explanatory, i hope i was able to help you. cheers!
You say your orange sim works fine on your friends nokia but does not work in your IIs.
Is it possible that your IIS device is sim locked as in will only work on the O2 network in the country you got it from.
If so unlock it via wiki (link in sig)
not it
I forgot to mention that the SIM worked fine in Isreal, my original SIM is orange (I do have an account with) I just can't get support cause I didn't buy the phone from them (capitalists).
About the network search. Thats what I've been doing for the last couple of days but I can not find ANY networks at all. which is what leads me to believe that its a GSM frequency problem.
What happens if you put your friends sim in your phone
GSM in Canada is generally 1900 http://www.gsmworld.com/roaming/gsminfo/cou_ca.shtml
doesn't work either
My friend's SIM doesn't work on my phone either. If canada is 1900, how can I make sure that my phone is currently using 1900. (I know it supports it, but how do I actually see that its actually scanning with it?)
What happens if you go to Settings->Phone->Network and then change Network Selection to Manual.
You should then get a list of networks. This will list all networks even if you cannot connect to them.
[edit] This has already be suggested earlier in the thread
If you do get some networks then the only reason that I can think of that you are not connecting is that under Prefered Networks you have a network selected that your carrier does not have a roaming agreement with.
Check your provider's website to see who they have agreements with.
no networks
My provider (Orange) has agreements with Rodgers, but my problem is that I am not listing ANY networks, I tried manual and even added the Rodgers network to my favorite networks, but when I try to search for networks I can't find any, I just get a blank window. This is very odd to me and I've never heard of anyone with that problem.
Like I've mentioned before, I updated my windows to TuMa 1.4 and my radio to 1.1.15. If there's anything else I need to do or anything I may not have done when I updated my network please tell me.
btw when I installed that TuMa windows I change my ID thingy to Tmobile.
Problem solved
Attenttion everyone:
It has come to my attention that there is a problem in the Band Selection CAB when it comes to certian cellular providers.
The problem so far appears on a Cellular One network that only supports 850Mhz. When the North American Option is choosen in the Band tab, the phone can not find a network to register on. I'm not quite sure why this happens yet, but there is a solution to fix.
http://relaysgoldens.com/sx66/ext_roms/BandSelect-fix.CAB
By installing this CAB, it provides a fourth option on the band tab, "Reset Value to Zero".
By selecting this option, the phone will be reset to it's default state, and will work normally.
I've trapped this as a bug in the 1.40.124 extrom and will be working to figure this out.
Note: the band selection setting is persistant, and will not be reset even if you downgrade the ROMs on the phone. If you are experiencing this problem, the ONLY way to reset the value is to use the CAB above.
-Chris
P.S. I've also updated the 1.40.124 RAR file on the website to include the updated bandselect CAB.

My htc p3300 doesn't work with Tre italian sim...

Tre italian sim in a 3g sim,is there a manner to make it work with some change of register?
Thankssss a lot.
Yes... go abroad and use GSM roaming...
If you want to use it in Three network in Italy, change to HTC Hermes (HTC TyTN) or other UMTS (3G) device. Other way is to change network to GSM one.
Thanks a lot for your answer...I ask it above all to some expert user or admnistrator!!!Anybody didn't never work on this thing?
byeeee
You should just go to the menĂ¹ voice 'options/opzioni' , choose the tab 'network/rete' and select 'manual/manuale' from the top-down menĂ¹ 'network selection/selezione della rete' then select a GSM network (Tim in your case).
Hope it may help
Ciao
if three in Italy are anything like Three in the UK, they lock their SIMs to their own branded handsets.
There will be a small application running on the SIM which looks for some corresponding code on the handset itself which Three put in all their customised firmware. If the SIM does not see this code on the handset, the SIM does not initialise or register to the network.
Network selection
Hi, I have similar problem, I`m abroad now and want to change network. Whatever I click:
network selection
find network
set network
I get just responce, that the service is not available at this moment. When I put the sim card to other phone, I`m able to chnage the mobile network without any problems. Have you heard about any problems with changing networks on XDA Orbit?
I`m currently in Bulgaria, but it shouldn`t matter as it works with other phone.
Thx Ziki
I think the reason is very simple: 3 is UMTS only, P3300 is GSM.
Well, actually I don't know if you can use 3 in roaming with TIM for GSM....

3G possible with Three Mobile PAYG?

I'm using their PAYG sim which gives a free 150mb allowance for 90 days, but am only ever able to connect via GPRS (my phone says I am roaming as well for some reason). Is anybody else using this sim and able to receive 3G?
yes indeed.
Three don;t have the 3G coverage of the other networks, and so they use Orange as a backup network when you are in an area that does not have any of their own transmitters. Seems you might be in such an area, which is why it says you are roaming cos you're actually on Orange!
Make sure you are not stuck in 2G only mode of course.....
dial *#*#4636#*#*
select phone information
slide down to the bottom, abnd make sure the first menu box is set to WCDMA preferred, and not GSM only.
Thanks for the information, thought this might be the case but wasn't sure. The phone was already set to WCDMA Preferred so I guess GPRS is the best I'm going to get from Three Mobile for the time being.
Thanks also for letting me know how to access the testing screens, lots of good info there!
no probs, here to help.....when i'm in a good mood and not at work of course

Roaming with my S3 on Jellybean??HELP??

I frequently run from Toronto to Buffalo. I took my S3 from ICS to Jellybean 4.1.1 and have had no issues until yesterday.
Upon crossing, I lost all service. I tried to go into the menus and see what was the matter without success. Later, I
realized that under MOBILE NETWORKS, Data Roaming wasn't checked. So I checked it off........still no service until
I was about a mile from the border, back on Rogers.
Anyone experience this?? I've bad numerous blackeberry's and cross without an issue all over the US and Caribbean.
I'm confussed.......and concerned about making another trip to the US, without my briefcase which has a backup blackberry
in it........
Suggestions? I fugured that checking the roaming box would have grabbed a carrier..........NOPE.........meanwhile,
my friend who has the same phone still on ICS worked fine................that's the strange part...........
Thanks guys.
Hi!
One thing you could check is if you activated the automatic selection of carrier, and if your phone can see other carriers' networks.
1. Go to Settings.
2. Under Wireless and networks, open More settings.
3. Under Networks, select Mobile networks.
4. Select Network operators.
5. Your phone should now disconnect and search for visible networks. (It should show networks you can connect to and ones you cannot; that is normal.) See if you find any carrier listed on this screen when the search is completed. If no network appear, press again Search networks to scan the visible networks again.
6. Press Select automatically to automatically register to the prefered network. When Rogers is in this list, your phone should register automatically to Rogers. If not, then it should roam on a network with which Rogers has a roaming agreement. You should also be able to manually select to which network you would like to roam by pressing the carrier's name (again, you will register only if Rogers has a roaming agreement with the said carrier).
Happened again this morning. However, I did what you said (here in Toronto) and it found BELL, TElus and Rogers. Now, it
would't find anything across in Buffalo. VERY strange. Called Rogers when I crossed and they were no help.
Could it be possible that it's an issue with Jellybean?? The phone is rooted and I used the Robinson's root injected JB ROM.
Suggestions? I'm crossing again in the morning... Can test more settings.....can't bring my old blackberry because it's a
regular sim and this thing uses a micro...

Question How to change preferred network type?

I'm on EE UK but the preferred network type setting doesn't appear to be present in SIM options?
It appears that some providers suck hard and don't want to allow you to switch networks. That's not a phone thing-y, it's a provider thing-y. Which means that your phone will of course still change networks, but only if the "higher" one is not available, ergo your phone will only connect to 4G, if 5G is not available - if the 5G connection is bad, that will probably cause problems for you, because your phone will probably not want to connect to 4G automatically.
I can easily switch preferred network types
Settings -> Network & Speed -> SIMs -> (scroll down, between 4G Calling & Carrier settings version) -> Preferred network type (5G, 4G, 3G, 2G).
It that's not available, your network carrier sucks. No more to say here.
I'd suggest you either switch providers, or contact your provider to see if they are willing to change this. It's definitely on their end, cuz people like me can change the settings easily.

You may be able to change preferred network type with *#*#4636#*#* dialer code.

EE (& BT Mobile) hide the menu.

Or you could just make sure Adaptive Connectivity is enabled and not worry about it.
You would have to drag me away from EE (BT Mobile) screaming and kicking given the coverage and speeds they have, to say they suck over one menu option missing is absolutely laughable.

When the Note 20 first came out a lot of carriers wouldn't let you change network type but there's an app in the play store that was working on the notes.
Force 4G/5G Only - Apps on Google Play
Lock your phone to 4G/5G mode or VoLTE network
play.google.com

Crashes or alternately just disappeared for me when I click on the first option "4G LTE with only one SIM". Reported the crash. Thanks, though. Maybe they'll update it.
An alternative to the dialer code is to boot into safe mode, and the preferred network type setting will appear in: Settings -> Network & internet -> SIMs between Data warning & limit and Carrier settings version (at least it does on my Google Fi Pixel 6 Pro).
