O2 Ignito - Replacement DOESN'T FULLY CHARGE TOO! - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV ROM Development

Please help!
At my wits end with this handset! Just got a complete replacement Ignito as the last one didn't charge beyond 65%; the replacement is stuck at 60%!!!!!
Been advised by o2 to have the battery checked in an o2 store. However, I've been told by a mate it may well be a ROM problem?
Has anybody had this problem with their Ignito / Diamond? How did you solve it?
Thanks in advance,
Chris.

Mine is working fine, so I don't know what could be the problem with yours.

hummmm
you are charging from the wall and not pc i take it?

that's very strange, i've not heard of this problem being caused from the ROM, i take it you are on the standard O2 rom? If so i'd say take it back to O2, and let them test it, but if you are on a custom rom then i recommend you try changing ROM

I'm still on the 1.93 stock ROM and have no issues with charging from the mains. Using an old IPAQ charger with an extended USB cable too.

I've had issues with the handset reporting its full and then upon checking the power settings its only at 60%. Simple answer for me was turn the device off, leave to charge overnight from the mains and it was fine in the morning. Happened twice now but on a different rom each time. Think its best to charge with the device off anyway so nothing else is drawing power (such as the phone connecting to the network etc) that way you know its got the best charge possible. Could of course be complete rubbish but I've never had any issues and the battery lasts longer I find.

Charging Loop?!?! Need Help

Hello! I wasn't able to find anything on this so I'm wondering if my phone is defective...
My phone is stuck in a loop...
1.I plug the phone in it will charge for 5 minutes then try to start up
2.The charging will stop during the boot up (on it own)
3.I imagine there's not enough battery power so the phone will shut off
And this will go on in a continuous loop. Also I can't stop it from booting up so that makes it worse...
I just bought the phone and let the battery drain down the for the first time and it started looping this way. Very odd. I have 2 other HTCs (8925 and 8525) and never had this problem...
So I'm wondering is it
1. The Software (config)
2. The Battery
3. The phone
I've searched the internet and it seems like I'm the only one having this problem...
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!
Hmmmmmm sounds like a bad phone, I'd return it to your carrier if possible

i had a simular situation w/ my mda...i was on vacation, and when the battery drained, it wouldnt take a charge...the problem was that i was using my girlfriends motorola charger which wasnt strong enough charge a completly drained mda battery...
just ensure you are using the charger that came w/ the phone, as many figure (as did i) that one mini-usb charger is as good as another...
hope that helps...
Having the same issue, my Pro2 charges for couple of minutes than reboots and also the battery won't take a full charge so can Hard Reset .
Anyone else resolved this issue
Try booting your phone without the battery, so it doesn't need to charge
Thanks alot it turned out to be the USB cable. It was defective I was using the charger for my 8925 and it was working no problem but when I switch back to the TP2 it didn't work!

Problem: Battery shows 100% always

EDIT: The problem was that the battery driver isn't the best. At 3.99V it switched to 99%. So the problem is fixed now!
Hi guys.
I have a problem wih my Artemis. After flashing the USPL and a M6.5 ROM it always shows the Battery to be 100% changed and doesn't want to charge it. But I'm sure it isn't 100%.
The ROM isn't the problem cause with the device fully of the same thing happens if trieing it.
I tried to flash the SPL back but I only get errors.
Any help would be cool
Thanks

Hi,
Are you sure that isn't the ROM?
however you haven't tried to mount the original ROM?
bye,
Silvio
OK Answer: I'm sure. I tried 10 ROMs (7 cooked, the original, a HTC English original and HTC German Original). I tried 4 SPLs (Both USPLs (Pof, Cmonex) Original SPL and HTC WWE SPL). I tried 4 Radios too. I checked the Battery with a voltmeter several times and I got first 4.17V (seemd to be nearly full then) and second time I got 4.12 (sure it wasn't full anymore). Now I'm already running it in standby with GSM on for 6h and it still shows 100%. So I'm sure it isn't the ROM SPL or Radio.
Only things left are IPL or OEMSPL. Or maybe the Info recieved from the battery.
Thanks for your reply guy.
Any help would be nice.
then you tried to keep the pocket PC on for a day? to me the battery falls below 100% for 6 hours more or less ...
P.S. the battery is a 3.7V... 4.17-12V ...is full!
Bye,
Silvio
The battery is full at 4.2V as written on it. Compared to my Kaiser it sould only have 80% with 4.12V. And yea I'll leave it on till it goes off itself to know when the battery is empty. When it is empty I'm sure I can't carge anymore if it still thinks it is full but for that problem I have a 4.5V AC/DC adaptor to recharge the battery.
By the way which sence do the 3rd and 4th pin have? They don't have any voltage. Are they for the Vibration motor or do they transmit the charging state to the phone?

I don't know it utility...
however happened to me and I resolved discharged, I do not know what else to do...
P.S. when my battery is fully charged 3.9V marks... sorry for my imperfect english
No problem. Maybe I have to connect + to - very short to get the Voltage down. But first I'll just let it lay there in standby with phone on and see how it goes. Then if it goes off I'm sure the battery is empty. then I can start bench the Charging with external system.
That won't solve the problem but then I'll have a benchmark.
Thanks for your infos and tips.
And your English is no problem to me.
not at all
let me know if it works
Bye
Yea I will.
Solution
GO TO REGISTRY
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\security\ResOver\Bitmaps]
AND REMOVE:
"BatteryIconIdStart"=dword:000003E9
"BatteryIconLevels"=dword:00000065
RESTART, DONE !!!

Hi
if I may ask do you happen to have any better driver or how did you manage to fix your problem as i happen to have the same.
thanks in advance.
Didn't work. But anyway as I said in first post the problem is fixed. The battery has just a very bad voltage curve as i found out using a voltmeter while discharging.
edit:
@mjonase:
I just waited. It takes until the battery is unter 4V. Then it switched to 99%. The driver isn't the problem just the OEMSPL and the battery itself. Just switch on bluetooth and phone and keep the device on. After max 1h the battery level bar will change.
thanks @ChrBeck it seems i gut a different prob altogether mine seems to be a faulty h/w ,charges up and shows 100% if i remove it from the charger the battery drops quite quick, and when i reset it comes back with almost nothing left but when i charge the battery externally it can keep the charge for approx 2-2 1/2 days. so my artemis does false charge ups i guess.
Yea I think it doesn't charge right.
That is a different problem.
WM 6.5 Shady313 ROM (23081 R2)?
Hi,
can anyone tell me, where I can download the WM 6.5 - 23081 R2 version ? I wan't downgrade my version from the newest version 24623 to 23081 because the sms bug can't fix.
Thanks for your help!

Quick discharge from 100% to 90% when connected to AC

My Desire suffers from the following problem: whenever it's connected to AC, it will charge until 100% but then after some arbitrary time period it will discharge quickly to 90% after which it will slowly charge again until it reaches 100%. This can happen two or three times each night. This means that if you take your Desire out at the wrong moment, the battery charge will be at 90% instead of 100% which is EXTREMELY annoying.
I'm thinking that there must be other Desires with this problem, since my previous Desire (which was replaced because of WiFi-problems) exhibited the exact same behaviour. Does anyone else notice this? Or is anyone else willing to check (by means of using Juiceplotter overnight) if his/her Desire suffers from this as well? I just can't believe that the two Desires that I own/have owned are the only ones suffering from this ...
I already contacted HTC Customer Support and they told me that they would pass on this information to another department.
It's common... even I have it.
Whether it's a security or a bug (or both!) is completly unknown at this point I believe.

This has been discussed many times, and the concensus is that it is normal. When battery fully charged, it will stop until it falls below 90% at which point it will charge again.

My HTC Hero did not behave that way, and HTC did not explain to me that it was intended behaviour either.
Also, that would mean that the battery plot is incorrect since it shows rapid discharges from 100% to 90%, such as in the following image:
Furthermore, it seems that this problem (or feature ...?) disappears on at least some devices after rooting.
It seems to happen to me more often than not when I take the phone off the charger each morning. It's annoying but I need the phone on, so charging it to full while turned off each night's not an option.
This is usually done to exercise the battery.
I worked with developing a phone, and we did the same thing, in order for the battery capacity not to degrade because it keeps trickle charging at 100%.
So you shouldn't worry about this.
same happens to me, however i charge it over night and when i get up in the morning uplug and it charges for another 30mins (whilst i get ready for work) and its back up to 100%/99% which i can live with

Hm, my HTC Hero did not have this 'great feature'. I'd rather buy a new battery when this one has degraded too far, instead of having a not fully charged almost 50% of the times that I unplug it.
It would be more acceptable on a phone that would be able to go for at least 48 hours without intermediate charges but clearly, the Desire (just like most smartphones) can't do that.
first, apologise for reviving an old thread.
but it seems that charing by usb (via pc) does not have this problem.
also, charging by ac causes the battery to discharge at a faster rate...
Battery falls to 90% as soon as I unplug the charger
Same problem here, plug the charger before I sleep, at the morning the battery widget indicates 100% and the phone light is green, then I unplug the charger and suddently (really suddently, I mean quite instantly) the charge indicator falls to 89-91%.
Considering the poor duration of a fully charged battery I'd prefer not to lose the 10% of the charge before start using the device.
I'm quite sure this didn't appen with 1.15 stock ROM, I suppose I'd noticed it in case...
I can't remember if this appened after FOTA update from 1.15 to 1.21
With 3.1 modaco ROM I had this problem and now even with 1.23.351.1 Build rooted and A2SD+.
I tryed different radio ROMs without results..
I contacted HTC customer support, they told me to use an app manager like Taskiller to close unneeded applications that drain battery... lol
Obiouvsly they don't know anything about this problem..
Any ideas? It really hurts me to start every day with 90% of the battery!!
Thanks to all!
Hey, I have the same problem since I updated OTA version 1.21, never happened to me before with 1.15. Now when I wake up, I have fully (100%) charged battery, but after a minute or two it instantly jumps to 92%.
Any solutions?
Same here after the last update.

I've just sent a e-mail to the customer support of HTC explaining the problem, as soon as I have an answer I will post it here.
It should be interesting to do a factory reset and test with a recharge without installing any other stuff. Is there anyone who have a standard ROM (not rooted, original kernel) and want to do a try?
While I was writing they answered... They invited me to go to the nearest collection point to test another battery if available.
I'm starting to think the problem is not hardware related if other of our devices started to suffer the problem after the update..
I'll contact them again and we will see what appens.
Meanwhile if someone want to try what I suggested, it would be really apreciated.
Customer Support official answer.
The official answer: Send the device to us for repair. First try with another battery if you want (an if you can find another one...).
I'm not too happy to send my 3 weeks old device to them for 20 days so maybe I'll try to flash the 1.15 or 1.21 official ROM to see how the battery works. If anyone with the same problem wants to try to downgrade, please do it just to help to understand which is the problem.
I am having exactly same problem, i dont think its a battery issue either :/
Is there anyone who rooted and "desire" (wow, what a joke! ) to try a Froyo ROM to see if the problem persists? I suppose it should be totally different from 1.21 or 1.23...
I feel a bit lazy at the moment , I've just done a good setup and I'd like not to redo it again....
Volunteers?

Mine is not rooted. I didnt have this problem before the update.
I have some apps installed and a few widgets but nothing "advanced" like different launcher, heavy widgets. After the update I did a hard reset and didn't even backup my settings (have contacts and e-mail via Exchange server). The hard reset didn't help at all...

So I understand I'll be elect "the" volunteer
Maybe in the next days I'll try...
I used the phone till it automatically switched off, pulled out the battery for one minute, tryed to charge the phone when totally switched off and it charghed and stayed at 100% so I'm quite sure it's a ROM related problem.
You can see the next charge in the attached image (thanks to JuicePlotter)...

[Q] Can someone repair Desire HD's? in the UK

Hi,
Ive read oni the forums that someone can repair DHD's.. my friend has one which doesnt power up, doesnt charge either.
Ive left the battery out over night then put on charge using mains adapter (genuine original) still no charge light at all.
on my HD2 i can power the phone up without battery inserted, just wondered if the DHD is normally capable of doing this, as its not doing that either.
it used to turn off or crash randomly, my plan was to root the DHD and see if the random power off issues would be resolved. after crashing randomly for the last time it seems to not want to power up at all, wether its plugged in or not.
Ive ordered a new battery in case its a battery issue (genuine battery) but wondered if this has been resolved by someone else using a different method. all the threads ive looked at here with similar issues seem to have not been resolved, or the thread gets hijacked/other peoples issues are slipped in and there is no real closure to the OP's post/issue
any help would be great
thanks

Ok, of course I know nobody in the UK to fix your friend's DHD as I am in Buenos Aires , but I would try to do the following: Wait for the new battery to try it out. If that does not work then contact HTC Service Centre and they will guide you.
If with the new battery the phone boots, but still behaves randomly, do not root it. Rooting it will not sort hardware issues out and it might leave you stuck in the middle of a process with a brick. Never root a phone with hardware issues, just try to solve that first.
If the issue was a Software one, then you can factory reset it and should be solved. Hope you can fix it. :good:

[Q] [P-600] maybe a hardware problem.

The problem - At first it began with battery sudden drops. From 80% it drops to 20 and after restart it was again 80%. After that I bring it to the place where I bought it and after a week they tell me it's battery problem and the battery has 6 months warranty and it's expired. I read the forum and decided I will root it (I read in some topic that may help). I root it and at first I thought it fixed it, but I was wrong. It started doing it again after a day. I started using the tablet only on charger. But after a month of use mostly on charger the tablet started to flashes ( don't know if that's the right word: the screen started turning of and on really fast like there is not enough power to stay on) and after that the tablet turns off. At that state I was thinking the battery is absolutely dead and I bought one from e-bay. After changing it there was no change. After that I take the tablet and bring it to different store to check what is it wrong with him. They tell me the second battery is broken and cannot be charged or something. I bought 3th battery this time not from e-bay but from official Samsung store(the same store that tells me the problem is from the battery). And everything is the same with all the 3 batteries.
Now the tablet won't stay on more then 1 minute no matter which battery is using. With more luck it shows the homepage and after 10-20 sec restarts again. In bad days it won't even start.
Now I think it's not from the battery and the people in the stores were incompetent and didn't check correct. I am with this on the tablet.
What should I do now? Should I sold my tablet for parts and battery or is there a way to fix it by myself? Is there a way to make it work only on charger again or something? I don't know if the people from the store will want to check it again when it's rooted. Please help I am desperate.
Sorry for the bad english.

I dont know what the problem is but what i would do is at least flash it back to stock or maybe a factory reset and see if the problem still is there. If the problem is still there after trying those 2 things then i would say it is a hardware issue. Im just saying what i would try first before trying to sell for parts.
