4GB MicroSDHC with HTC Touch ?

Can the HTC Touch take 4GB MicroSDHC cards?

i heard that the newer ppc's should support it. I hope im right
anyone else know anything about this?

The specifications for the HTC Touch says it supports the standard "SD 2.0". This standard includes SDHC (Cards from 4-32gb), and have seen a few users say they are using a 4gb card in their touch (search will reveal who).
Here (DK) the only 4gb MicroSDHC card available is Class 2, so I wont be going for the 4gb (or 8gb for that matter) card until I can get atleast Class 4, preferably Class 6.

Hi,i'm actually using 4gb microsd HC from SanDisk.
Everything work perfect without any problem.
Mine Touch have Italian software but i don't think different language firmware could have limitations about memory size....i hope

i know there was some discussion about the availability of this size card, and that it was available for quite a few pounds(dollars for me), and i believe someone had purchased it, but never really heard of the results.
if someone has please post, and please let us know where it was purchased and for how much. also, if outside us whether you know if it can be delivered to the usa.

Did you test the card? E.g. fill it up to over 2gb, like 2.5gb and then see if the phone writes on it etc. 'Cause the picture on Ebay appears different from the one that Verizon carries which should be the real one.
It is good that it works on the Touch, since I just ordered a Touch. I've tested my card, it works flawlessly on the TyTN and I filled it up to test.

Just end the fill up test on SDHC 4 gb,no problem it works
I've made some copy of 98mb files and also 2 copy of tomtom map file (about 518mb) now memory info report just 84.03 mb free and 3794.47 used of 3878.50 total space on microSd card.

Using sandisk hdsc 4gb card for a week now in my touch and works like a charm. Can't wait for the 8gb lol! bought on amazon. these cards are hard to locate.

how significant is class 2 and class 6 micro sdhc cards? compared to the standard 50x micro sd cards.
the class 6 micro sd sdhc doesnt come cheap but the class 2 and class 4 seems reasonable..

That's a SD not a SDHC card. It will still work though.
You can get the 4Gb SDHC card on eBay for £32 and you also get a Micro SD to SD Card Adapter and a SDHC USB Card reader in with the price

The fact that its 4GB means it has to be SDHC... The HC stands for High Capacity

there is a 4gb sd and 4gb sdhc.

have just got a 4GB SDHC Micro Sd card from Amazon including an sd to micro adapter and a sandisk micromate (adapter type thing not used yet) for £24.95 + p+p in total came to less than £30.
Works fine for me so far despite HTC telling me they only support 2 GB cards, mine is an MDA touch from Tmonile but I dont think that will make much difference.

No he's right. On research I find SD only goes up to 2Gb. The SDHC uses FAT32 file system to be able allow higher capacities. 8Gb card coming out next year.
Anyway, for me extra 2 squids I got a couple of adaptors.

Yes, it works perfect. I am using 8GB for 6 months without problems. Theoretical, it can works with a 32GB card, but as jackolus said, there is only 8 GB on the market.

From what I've researched before purchasing the phone, it can support up to 32GB in MicroSD, the Elfin, not sure if the Elf does the same.

up to 4gb there is only sdhc.
it was created to enable sized up to 32gb.
so every mashine, that can read sdch-standart should be enable to handle cards up to 32gb...in theory...
ELF should be enabled as well...
but i think, it's also a kind of politics.
it won't lasst more than 1 year from now on, then there will come a new sdhc2.0 standart or something else, and all the people must bye new mashines, phones and readers if they want to have space that's bigger than 32gb...

Yeah Elf should support 32 G MicroSDHC cards.
I'm waiting for 16G to come out this month or next.

I know someone using an 8 gig micro sdhc on their touch elf. I seriously considered buying one as I am only using a 4 gig micro sdhc however has recently decided to wiat for the 16 gig to come out. 16 gigs would be so much nicer on my phone then 8 gigs.

I believe that I have read somewher that 32 gig is the biggest for SDHC. Anything bigger will be a whole new class of card and will not be supported by our devices. By the time 64 gig is released, we will probably not even be using our current devices anyways. It takes to damn long for the bigger cards to come out.

Took longer then I was told, but it finally came in. Sandisk 16 gig class 2 Micro SDHC - I stuck in in to make sure it was real and sure enough - Just over 15 gig's registered on my device as free space. Now to fill it up. I am a very happy camper and it cost less then $100.00 Canadian - I am the first person in my area to get one - even most of the people at the local shops - "The Source", Almost every computer shop and electronic's store still say you can't get them that big, but I went in and showed them today - they couldn't believe it. Man, what are they doing working / running these shops if they don't / can't even keep up with technology. It's just too bad I had to wait this long. Oh well, I have it now and so far it works great.
Edit: I just uploaded my backup of my original four gig card and loaded it up on my device and guess what. It works great - Actually - Loading times are faster now for movies, Music and programs installed on the card. I am an even happier camper now.

Biggest Micro Card?

Whats the biggest micro card this phone will support. Are 32gb / 64gb even made?

i ordered this 16gb one, if there are 32 or 64 i want to know too

At the moment the largest card is 16GB.

16g is the largest, but 32g is coming out soon. My guess is that they will be quite expensive and no word on speed. While the class (speed) is in write mode only, it does make a difference when using the camera or writing files to the card.

The largest Rhodium supports is 32GB.

SDHC specs out at 32GB max.

I think only a few companies make 16GB Class 6 cards. Transcend being one of them. I don't think you can get 32GB ones just as yet and no way you can get a Class 6 one anyway.

and i think before they release 32gb SDHC they'll go the SDXC way with 64 & 128gb model.

if you plan on getting a Transcend card for use with a GSM TP2, be careful. There have been reports of Transcend cards not working well with the TP2. I personally experienced it, when my Class 6 8GB card would randomly disappear from the phone, or when music would skip during playback. Switched to a Sandisk Class 2 8GB that came with my BB Storm, and haven't experienced a single problem.
And also, note that the Transcend card worked great in my BB Storm, BB Bold 9700, LG Incite and Samsung BJII before this. Nothing wrong with the card, just with the TP2.

16gb is the largest built. 32gb is the largest theoretical that sdhc supports. youll need sdxc for more than that. i wonder if rhodium will support this in the future. old htc devices (and samsung) that could only do regular sd that capped at 4gb could do sdhc with a rom/driver update. sdxc supports up to 2tb which will be interesting to see.

The 32g microsd is long over due. Every so often there will be a press release that the 32 will be release within the next month or so. The projected time frame will come and go. There was a PR stating that 64g was in the works.

if a 32gb microsd card is sold i will buy it. i have an 8gb and could get a 16gb surprisingly cheap but i wont buy a stop gap knowing a 32 might be out soon.

I just got my 16gb no name cheapie from hong kong micro sd card for my tp2 in the mail. I spent numerous hours setting it up with the programs I wanted on it music and such. I had used it for about an hour or so and all the sudden the phone went crazy.. somehow the card corrupted it self im guessing cause the phone no longer recognized it or anything on it.. I removed the card and put it in my card reader to my laptop nothing was on it but a mess of folders all with the name ".." I thought maybe I had done something wrong so I formatted it and tried again. same thing happened the next day. I now reverted back to my 8gb sandisk and havent had any problems with it.. I guess its a get what you pay for kinda deal. Maybe there is something I can do I would think flash memory is flash memory but I guess they have their diffrences. Just wanted to share my .02 on my experience I would like to get another 16gb because bigger is better but ill wait it out and see what is to come next.

[Q] Question about SD card problem

I'm looking for some thoughts on a problem I encountered. Due to a problem with the camera, I got a refurbished phone under warranty. When I got it, I took the 8GB micro SD (not the original HTC, but a faster card from Transcend) from my old phone where it had worked flawlessly and installed it in my refurbished phone. Wouldn't mount. Put it back in the original phone; wouldn't mount. Computer wouldn't recognize it through multiple adapters/readers. Not erased or formatted, nothing would recognize it. I know crap happens sometimes. I had an old 2GB card that I installed and it worked with no problems.
I RMA'd the card back to Transcend (which is another story) who would not replace it due to a scuff mark on the edge of the card - physical damage!!!
Anyway, I ordered a new Adata card, 8GB class 10 and when it arrived, I transferred files to it on my computer (so it was working) and put it in the phone. Wouldn't mount. Put it back in the computer and no files could be seen. Ran scandisk, files reappeared. Installed back in the phone, wouldn't mount. Now it's fried, too. Computer won't recognize it anymore. Installed 2GB card back in phone and it mounts and works fine.
I've got a replacement phone coming again from TMobile - it's got to be the phone doing this. But I'm out 2 SD cards. I'll try a RMA on the Adata card to see if I can get a replacement, but I may buy another card in the meantime.
Does anybody have any thoughts on this problem? Why would the phone play nicely with the 2GB card but neither of the 8GB cards? I don't think I can do anything different, but at $15 a shot, I'm starting to hesitate buying a new card to put in the replacement phone when it gets here.

As a clarification, the original Transcend card was a class 6 card. The Adata was a class 10 and I read that some phones won't work with some class 10 cards...

as always, the best class to use with phones are class 4. their cheap and they work good

well, i was hesitant bout the whole "which classes will the g2 work with" situation.
i bought a pny 16gb class 10 and it works. so i dunno if its more of a this specific phone situation over an entire group of phones.

32GB UHS-1. I can't get mine to work, whether formatted fat32 or ntfs via PC. Tablet 8.4 simply doesn't recognize it.
My older sandisk 32GB class 4 disk works just fine.
Anyone else have issues with the UHS rated cards?

I would check if it's a counterfeit / fake card usually these are sold on eBay, Aliexpress or even some marketplace sellers on Amazon/wherever, some even leak into the retail sites, they look identical packagewise and design wise (sometimes it might have blury paint job, or typos on the packaging) ...
To check if it's fake there is various software for the pc (like H2TESTW or chkflsh ) that will write all the blocks on the card and tell you if it's fake..

(you will need a camera to take a close up, (so you can read the serial number on the back of the card)-if you choose to RMA and it's legit)

My Sandisk UHS-1 MicroSD that works fine on my Tab Pro 8.4.
NTFS, while a Windows favorite, can be problematic with Android devices. exFAT is pretty much standard nowadays (especially now that larger capacity cards are common - not supported by FAT32), although the old reliable FAT32 should work fine for 32GB.
Try formatting exFAT on your PC, or formatting on the tablet.
Otherwise you may have a counterfeit (tons of them on eBay as mentioned in the previous response) or simply a defective card.

Android never even had it listed as a device, so even kicking a format via CLI wasn't an option.
Everything tests ok on the PC, but something clearly isn't right. Back it goes.

Found the SDSDQX-032G-A46A for $20 at BestBuy, as well as the SDSDQX-064G-A46A for $40.
I print them both out from the website and drive to the store - where we pull up the website and the pricing has changed back to $80 & $150.. They wouldn't honor the printouts. What a great company. Google cache still has the original price, but the site changed in the time it took me to drive to the store.

are you running an official firmware on the tab pro?
But you are right, even with a bad filesystem it should prompt you to format it - strange, if you have root access you can check dmesg or logcat in terminal to see what's happening when you insert the card.

I did try that formatting utility.
dmesg shows nothing applicable, and logcat does absolutely nothing when that SD is inserted. When putting in my old SD card I get the typical flurry of activity of detecting, mounting, etc.

I bought a Samsung Pro+ 32GB card and that didn't work either. Clean flashed the final CM12 snapshot, still doesn't like either card. Old card (Sandisk class 4) continues to work fine.
Absolutely nothing in logcat for either of the U3 cards. It is as if nothing is being inserted into the tablet at all.
I'm ssh'd into the tablet. No new devices show @ /dev/block with the new cards. Old one has the expected mmcblk1 and mmcblk1p1.

I have Samsung Evo+ 64GB(for model not sure, but Samsung) and it has 95MB/s reading and 90MB/s writing speed and my 8.4 WiFi detected it. But it doesn't fully use those limits(what i want to say is that my SD card has very fast writing speed but when I uploaded 100MB file to the card, it took about 5 seconds to do that) and I don't know is that SD card broken or tablet is bad.,

I had this happen to me, unfortunately the only way you can fix this, is to give it back to Sandisk (RMA), for replacement. Since your current Card is as they say, pining for the fjords. The good news is that SanDisk support their Cards for up to 10 Years. Which meant more (to me.), when I had spent over 60€'s for it. Today however, you can replace this Card for nearly a Tenner. If anything I can only praise SanDisk's RMA Dept. for being both courteous, and prompt. I think I had to wait a day (or so), to get the confirmation oder. And, likely Six weeks or so for the Return. It was like two years ago now. Thankfully this New Card hasn't died on me in that time. That first Card, though dies on me like six months, after I bought it. The Representative I spoke with, mentioned that a bad batch of Cards had managed to get though, at the time, and that it wouldn't be an issue to just send the dead card back for a new Retail Package. MicroSD + FullSD Adapter.

First of I doubt, those Tools would be of very much help, if the Card is in fact now dead. When my card died that was it Windows, Linux Phone, or Phablet the Card was non-existant! However the Card should have a Serial Number printed on the Back. (So break out the magnifying glass!), perhaps the tracking was what took the most time before I finally got confirmation.
Just outta interest has anyone tried to shove a 128GB into the Tab-Pro 8.4 to see if it goes?
