iLauncher and touchflo 3d... - Touch HD Themes and Apps

Hi,
ive just received my touch hd and am very pleased so far....
i am not that keen on the task manager tho and have always been a fan of i launcher
has anybody manadged to get iLauncher running and touchflo3d
i seem to get just touchflo running even tho i launcher has been launched
i would like the hold your finger down in top right corner option which brings up the i
launcher menu and task menu
thanks

I am using iLauncher and it works perfectly. Top right corner menu also works (activated by long press and not conflicting with default built-in short-press menu).
But, I've disabled touchflo3d.

I suppose it should work when used together with Second Today. Try using it.

Searching a way to switch between programs

Hi everybody,
Every time i want to switch between applications on my HD, i go to the home screen, then i press the upper right icon and i select my app.
But i was wondering if there is a way to press a button for a longer period of time and to have on the screen a choice of the running apps.
Anybody knows if there exists?
Thanks in advanced!

try dotfred's task switcher.. no, I don't have a link, try the search button.

wktask is also good
AEButton + has this feature embedded into a selection for hard button remap. I have my end call button open a little running apps window at the swift double tap.
IMO, Wktask is the best of them all. It works exactly like on your PC. All running program appears on the taskbar. To switch, simply touch it. No need to press another button to see what's running. No need to go to home screen. To close, press and hold on that button.
I think you can't get any simpler than that
wktask is ok... but I think it looks untidy in portrai - some of the text conflicts with the status icons.
Quickmenu has a built in task manager - that's the one I use.

Not really. If you know how to adjust the other aspect of the device such as whether or not you want battery rather than date to appear, etc. I always hide my battery and use the battery meter by wktask, therefore the difference between the battery and time width does not cause inconsistent appearance at all. Mine is very tidy on every page. Whether in landscape of portrait mode, my icon positions always starts from immediately after the window start button, and end just before the H icon. The only thing is I have to hide the message bubble and let the icon come just close to the H icon. I further configure wktask such that if there is no task, then the message bubble would become visible - a small price to pay.

Fair enough, mate... everyone is different and I use the message bubble often as well as bluetooth recieve and send and I find if I have wireless and bluetooth enabled then I can lose an icon or two. Maybe the next version will have an autofit function. Who knows.
actually I use wktask and i do agree it looks a little messy.
The messy things are:
1. when you click the start button, the white glow shows up behind the wktask bar and because wktask bar is not transparent, you see a bit black box over it.
2. You can see the txt sticking out the side from under the wktask bar of some programs with long names.
3. Sometimes it hides icons.
4. I think the battery bar looks ugly. (i disabled it in mine)
These haven't stopped me using it. The Launcher is quick to load a quick list of programs you can load. I hate the tf3d task manager drop down as it is soooo laggy.
Auto resize would fix half the uglyness but i'm not holding my breath for that.

The general (1) settings permit moving the task bar size to the right & left. Personally, I hide the start menu, (setting to 0 left) because I never use it. Then, you can adjust the right size to cover text.
The best think about wktask IMHO is the icons in the task bar....switch between apps and close by clicking "x" or other options available in settings.

1. The glow is only on the window start button, not on the task icon. that is if you adjust the left edge of the wktask to touch the window start button.
2 Choose PC style in the design tab to avoid this problem.
3. I adjust the right edge of task icon to touch the H icon. Yes, it covers the notification icons but I also specify in the first tab that it should hide task list when there is no task, so that I can still see eye them by closing all task. I configured such that click and hold of x button closes all tasks so it is very easy to check if there is any notification behind the task list.
Hope this helps

How to kill Rosie (touchFLO aka SenseUI)

For those of you who dont like the SenseUI...
Last night i was playing around with my brother's new galaxy and installed aHome Lite (free from android market) to gain extra screens for him to use. I then decided out of curiosity to install it on my hero (this will probably work on all ROMs but i have a pre-rooted 2.73.405.5 ROM ala Modaco just for the record)
Those who have used open home or ahome will know that after installation the the home key brings up the option to choose what home panel to use, same thing happens with the hero but not only does it bring up TouchFLO and aHome options but also the standard Home option.
Simply uninstall aHome and your stll left with the to remaining options, 'Home' and 'TouchFLO'. By clicking on 'Home', you will get the default android home screen, simply kill the TouchFLO process in Taskiller (once inside the default Home interface) and voila
I'm not sure this has already been discovered...if so mods please delete this thread.
Peace.
i want to customize the app/dialog which is displayed when pressing home key (normally touchflo starts, but as we can see this can be modified).. any1 knows how to?
go into settings->Applications->Manage. Scroll down to TouchFLO and go into it then click on "Clear Defaults". Now press home button and it'll give you the option to choose which one to go to and you can also tick the "Use this as default" or whatever it says.
thx but this is not what i meant.. i have another app, which should be displayed after a long press on the home key..

longpress home only shows recently started apps. i don't think there is a way to modify that behavior yet.
for those using multiple home apps i would recommend Home Switcher. useful little app
But surely the recently started apps are also the currently running ones too
I'm just thankful the press and hold of Home actually does what it should now and act as a switcher.
It still acts as "apps currently running" for me.

I would like to try this, see what the Hero looks and runs like with standard Android interface.
If I do, and I want to return to the standard Hero setup, do I just reselect "Use this as default" when selecting TouchFlo after pressing the home key?
there must be the ability to change the behaviour of long pressing home key, since at least on rooted phones everything at software level can be modified..

Yup, thats right. If you do find u have accidentally set the Android interface as default, just clear the default the same way you had with the TouchFlo from the 'Manage Applications' menu.
Peace.

How do you know and why there are always max 6 of them ? You think, but for sure this is a list of last used applications ... try to kill some of them and see the list - they are still there.
What I was thinking is a "short home press" usage, which has no function if you are already at "home" ...
Actually I wanted to write "apps recently run".
People claiming they changed it to "apps currently running" with the new update but I am not sure if that's the case.

X means close not minimize

Does anyone know of a util or hack that forces this. When I close something, I want it to close, not minimize.
From the home screen tap the HTC drop down, go to settings, click the button tab, change to "End programs by tapping "X".
Hmm, no dice. I should have said I'm running Valkyrie_v4.8 leo which is sense 2.5 and WM 6.5.1. There is an option under Settings | Task Manager | Button that says "Enable the "X" button to end running programs" which is checked then I checked "End programs by tapping "X"" which is also checked.
Neither option (Ending, or ending on long press) seems to close the program. Really sucks.
You could always try the app e-Natives Showcase. Tapping and holding gives you the option to minimize the window, killing the program, or go to a running programs list.

Another thumbs up for the showcase task manager.
I think I read somewhere that the reason the x doesn't close it is because the new 6.5 interface moved the X to the lower right of the screen, but the default task manager still looks for it in the upper right corner?

That's correct. Hopefully HTC will create another workaround once 6.5.1 and 6.5.3 eventually make it to devices (officially)

Love Sense UI, hate previews... disable?

When you double press the home button with you get the Sense UI overview of all homescreens. Its more useless than usefull and plain annoying if accidentally activated. How can we disable this specific feature without breaking Sense UI?
Easy: Get LauncherPro.

Sent from my HTC EVO 4G using Tapatalk Pro.
Tried it and many others - Sense UI fits my needs and my taste better than all.
Simple: Don't do that then.
Also, a third press closes the preview.
I use an app called PreHome that is a great task switcher and launcher that works off the home button. When you press the home button it pops up, a second home press gives the SenseUI home screen. The preview home screen never pops up.

You know LauncherPro can be customized any way you want, right? It can have the same "taste" as Rosie with far more customization and options.
try adw.Launcher.
i swipe down on my screen to access my "wall of screens".

1. open app drawer, hit search key... no way to filter apps by whatever you typed
2. scrolling between home screens isnt intuitive. if scrolling fast, screen wiggles left/right but doesnt change.
3. app drawer opens up too slow, didnt find the setting for that in preferences either
4. no sense ui widgets

1. app list loads slow. froyo sense ui's task switcher is much quicker/nicer
2. doesn't open sense ui first. having to extra-press home key is same as hitting it again to close previews.

true, that's what i currently do... but hitting home button again before previews finished "zooming" simply re-does that zooming action, sometimes resulting in me pressing it 5 times before finally pausing and letting it finish zooming and then finally exiting the expose-wannabe.
stock evo's 30fps cap (33ms per frame) made me wanna throw this brick against the wall, but the fps uncap to 50fps (20ms per frame) saved me from murdering the phone. thats a mere 13ms difference. that being said, you now can probably imagine how those 2,000ms-just-wasted-for-previews are driving me nuts all i'm looking for is an app that would lock the homekey and put it through a simple filter:
Code:
if($homekey=='single_press' && $foreground='sense_ui' && $current_screen=='home'){
$key_press->ignore();
}else{
$key_press->do();
}
any ideas?

1. You don't even have to open the app drawer to search applications, at least on CM6. Just hit the quick search button and start typing away. You can also hide icons you don't want in LauncherPro.
2. Do you have Parkinson's or something?
3. Preferences -> Avanced Settings -> Opening speed. You can also find all of the other speed and scrolling settings here.
4. LauncherPro Plus has identical copies of the bookmarks, calendar, and contacts widgets with more on the way. There are also superior widgets on the Market that more than replace the HTC widgets.

1. yup, i'm aware of that feature, but it searches more than just the apps... its more than i need but does the job i guess
2. i navigate ui VERY fast, and many times apps (mobile & PC) have hard time keeping up. i prefer apps/os's to adapt to my style or modify them to what i prefer, not the other way around
3. hmm, paid version? didn't see that in the free one, or i just didn't look hard enough
4. i'm looking for the clock. aka, the flip clock + weather + onscreen animations
You get plus by buying it from the dev's website for $3. Then you just enter the activation code in the app. Beautiful Widgets is the perfect clock replacement, in my opinion. Not only does it have a TON of skins, but you can assign different shortcuts to it. No full screen weather animation, but that's just useless eye candy that lasts 2 seconds when you aren't even using your phone.

adw launcher help

Hey all. Somehow this morning I looked at my phone and my ADW Launcher dock had changed. I am currently using the 3 icon dock bar, and the center button is now a star and when you click it, it says "No application defined yet, drop something here!"
It used to be the default center button, the one that opens your application drawer so you can choose one of the less commonly used apps. How do I get this button back on the dock? I couldn't find anything in the settings. I tried to reset ADW settings back to default, and restarted the phone. nothing. anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!
Long press the home screen like you are going to install an app or widget. Then you will see the option to add launcher actions.
Once you add a launcher action to the home screen drag it to the center action buutton. And Voila you are done.
