boot_robot_glow.png (a little help) - G1 Themes and Wallpapers

I need a little help with the robot glow image. I want the glow to be light grey like the file that i attached. Did i make the glow image right?

you need to make it an animation
im pretty sure google used about 10 different picure in that aniation
correct me if i wrong but thats what would make sense

Nope... the image is just anormal .png file that the phone witches between.
To get you grey glow you would still need the Droid in the image but with the added grey "glow" around it.
It basically faeds between the two images to create the effect.
Read the other threads on this and it might make more sense then.

[REQ] HTCMenus.bmp color change

I am a complete noob at anything photoshop. Can any of the artistic talents here, modify the htcmenus.bmp file for any of the new Maila ROM's and get rid of the bright green with a softer color like a gray or silver or dark blue -somthing more subtle. I tried some of the similar file for other phones but it messes up the menus, I assume the menu widths are different or something and I couldnt find this mod for the HD.
Thanks much.
if your using a manilla 3d version2 (one that doesnt work with landscape) try this...

Shut down animation

Just in case anyone wanted to get rid of all signs of AT&T, you can change the shut down animation to any series of PNG's you want pretty easily. The shut down PNG's are in RES_cappuccino.apk here:
/system/framework/RES_cappuccino.apk
If you want to change the shut down animation, you can change the 25 PNG's (you can use my PNG-swapping tutorial thread if you don't know how =) ) found here:
RES_cappuccino.apk/res/drawable-hdpi/power_off_001.png to power_off_025.png
Just swap out the 25 PNG's with whatever you want.
Oh, and the boot animation is
/system/media/bootanimation.zip
but I figure everyone sorta knew that already =)
They really don't care about free space, don't they?
Thanks for the info.
Haha, I know, right?
dang, wow.. hmm, you know what's [email protected] and i were chatting in another thread about experiencing any delays or lags anywhere with this phone and the title of this/your thread reminded me that there is indeed a stutter on the shutdown animation with my phone. the boot up animation is super smooth though and i was thinking i would not mind keeping the boot up but just deleting the shutdown one, but i had figured they were the same sequence.
it's super they are not!
is it possible to shrink all this shut down nonsense to as little as possible?
gave ya a thanks!
The best option, in my opinion, is to just swap the png's with solid black ones. I wouldn't suggest just deleting them, cause the xml's will still reference the missing png's and it might cause trouble (might not, too, but without recovery, I'd err on the side of safer =) )
So for the bootup animation, can we just use any animations out there, like the ones i use for the atrix, or it still needs to be specific? Just trying to be safe lol.
For the heck of it I've tried animation from UOT kitchen, it worked just fine, but because images are for smaller resolution they displayed with large black border around them, other words not in full screen.
For the boot animation, you can use whatever you want, yeah. I copied my old one from my x10 (edited some of the PNG's just for fun =) ), and it works just fine. If the resolution of the boot animation is lower than the nitro's screen, it'll just show the animation centered with a black background.
If you want to use the Atrix ones, I'm sure you can just stretch each of the png's in the zip to 1280x720, and they'll play just fine without a black border

need help with theme issue

So ive been trying to make my own red theme and im having issues with a few items.
In the first pic, it is the blue bar in the phone screen. It is the selected screen indicator. The image is tab_selected_holo.9.png
when i simply change it from the stock blue to red, it makes the hole area around the current icon solid red.
The next one is the little blue circle at the bottom of the pull down menu. When edited from blue to red, it shows up all stretched out. That file is status_bar_close_on.9.png
what do i need to do differently?
To edit patch .9 images the apk needs to be decompiled and edited preserving the patches. There is an abundance of info through google on what patch .9 images are and how to edit them.
See here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10965186
good day.
ahh yea well ill just leave it then. I cant decompile and compile any apk without getting errors no matter what apktool i use. thanks for the info tho.

how to make a "light" theme

i really like how the people app looks in ics
can i edit framework to change the settings menu background to the white color in the people apk? as well as change the text to black so i can actually see it? maybe even make the dialer have a white background as well. thanks for any help i would love to make ics more of a "light" theme.
EDIT: is it possible to change the image in frame work labeled (not sure on the name) holo_background_dark.png, if i did replace this how to i change the font to be dark as well
a lot of text issues arise when making a white theme. more so than just changing the text color in framework and sysui
It's possible, of course, but the fact that you are asking those questions warrants the answer 'but not advisable for YOU to mess with it'.
It's not simple as 'changing one background/text color'.
Edit: if you are really determined to do it, take a look at this: https://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AcdxIJRSH9ypZGZzc2pxNDlfMjdnazk4OHNxZA&hl=en&pli=1

thank you for the guide.
my title isn't really clear on what im doing, its not necessarily a whole theme, i still want to keep all apks the same as well as the status bar and stuff, but more or less changing the background image of the settings menu to white by extracting the frame work and replacing the gradient grey png with a white one and then changing the font in the settings menu to a dark grey. which works in root explorer alone. i just need to find out how to change the font color. which could probably be done by putting in a hex code to a system file right?
if not o well atleast i tried lol, hopefully there will be a light theme soon.

Widget Locker Theme with Text in Background

Hi all,
I'm trying to make some widget locker themes that have text in the background image. I was able to make a few with just the standard rounded corner rectangle outline that a lot of themes use and I was also able to get it to work with a black and red version of my text background. But for whatever reason, when I change the background up to be black and white, my text gets all jumbled. It gets stretched in the middle between two letters rather than the whole background stretching.
I have to be doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what. I've follow both of the tutorials and understand have about five or six different themes that work, but for whatever reason this one with text is kicking my butt. Anybody else ever run into this?
Thanks,
Dave

Well,
I've made some progress with this. I messed around with the background image and found that the single black pixel placed at the top of the image is where widget locker stretches the image to fit the screen. My temporary solution was to off set the pixel to the left side of my text. The only side effect is that now my text isn't centered as I wanted it. Instead is now on the right side of my screen. It looks ok with the lock screen I am running, but I don't understand why it works with one background (being center) and not the other.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Dave
