I just tested my WLAN speed without any registry mods @ http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed with 1MB filesize and I got ~1500 kbit/s so I don't think it is necessary to modify those settings.
My Access Point is a LinkSys WRT54GL router with Tomato 1.23 firmware set to Mixed B+G mode and WPA2 Personal (PSK) + AES security.

you need now to install the cab and , after a soft reset, to do the test again ...

I did some research about what "Basic Rate" really is.
This seems to be the lower speed limit for WLAN device handshake, so the client/access point can
a) figure out what the bare minimum speed is that's needed to connect to the given AP
b) set the initial communication speed between the device and its AP
Apparently this is only important when you have old 802.11b devices connecting to a mixed B+G AP.
There should be no impact on the actual WLAN speed.

Without any mods, my speed is 1624 kbits/sec.

I can confirm, IT WORKS. I think it may only be important for someone that wants to stream video...like me. The battery was getting hot so I imagine it is sucking the battery too.

Hi
before the "tweak" I hade a speed of around 1300k. After I applied the "tweak" speed jumped to 1900k. Not bad at all
Thanks for the advice!
Btw. I have the stock 1.14 Rom on my HD (GER) and had the string already there.
Greetz
Ascenca

I like it also
im seeing a 520k gain. Great for video

I can't see any difference.
How do you improve speed? With the proposed CAB file or by manually modifying the registry?
Because the CAB file is adding a key to a non-existing folder in the registry:
HKLM\Comm\TNETWLN1\Parms
param="Dot11SupportedRateMaskG" value="8"
This parameter is already set to "8" in TNETW12511 key and not in TNETWLN1, the last is non-existent.
Furthermore the first post in the thread speaks about "Dot11BasicRateMaskG" and not "Dot11SupportedRateMaskG" ?

Placebo warning lolol
Guys I also have 1 on the reg, but when I connect to my wifi router, on the Wireless Settings on my HD, Tx Rate is at 54Mbps... and my Linksys is forced to only accept G connections...

Just wondering if this patch will help browse the web faster?
Thanks in advance.

How can I measure the transfer rate. I have a felling that wifi works realy slow when browsing.
thnx in advance

Some of you had mentioned speeds of more then 1000 Kb/s. Is it real?
I did change the registry value from 4 to 8. All I am getting are speed values around 400, 300 or sometime 250 Kb/s using either DSLREPORTS or Pocket Speed Test.
I have the ASUS 406G ADSL wireless router, configured to operate on 54Mb/s
Please advice

What should be the values of the following Registry Keys?
--- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMM\TNETWLN1\PARMS dot11SupportedRateMaskG (mine is set to 8)
--- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMM\TNETWLN12511\PARMS dot11SupportedRateMaskG (mine is set to 8)
--- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMM\TNETWLN12511\PARMS dot11BasicRateMaskG (mine is set to 1; when set to 8 the speed is close to zero)
--- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMM\TNETWLN12511\PARMS dot11BasicRateMaskB (mine is set to 1)
--- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMM\TNETWLN12511\PARMS dot11SupportedRateMaskB (mine is set to 2)
Please advice

Does this work??
how safe i to use that
Awesome. Need to be careful though.
Anyone tested?? we may have something big here!!! (if its working..!!)
Max values..?? Performance improvements?? Some benchmarks?
Because after some research i did , i saw that our processor is capable even for speeds almost double its original value!! (some say 850 and report fast and stable!!)
Lets see!!
What the hell?
800MHZ on the HD?
thats crazy!
Yeah it works
you need to install the cab and soft reset
after in All settings > System
a new icon appear : processor
set it there .
you can't overclock speed actually with this tool
but, you can slow down a lot the cpu to save a lot's of battery during idle process.
Does anyone know what these value are by default? We could actually make battery life worse if we set higher values for backlight off, etc than the factory settings...
It is not working. I try it again and again.
Set all values to 256.00 and it loose this settings after exit or if the device go to sleep.
Under "Current processor speed:" it shows 256.00 and if I go again to this setting it shows the "normal" 528mhz.

Don't tell me the Touch HD actually doesn't manage it's CPU speed on its own!?!? Even my old Axim x51v did that!!!
there is another thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=507212
I ' have try this :
Default :528mhz
After 5s 256mhz (this doesn't work I think, but not sure)
When backlight off : 82mhz
When suspend : 19mhz
So after all night of sleeping, my battery haven't lose any bare.
I will test it more, I think they greatly improve battery life.
so just keep testing.

Qualcomm is not Intel-Marvel !
I tested the tool from April 21th to April 25th. 5 days without recharge!
Otherwise i was charging my Blackstone every two days and i've running ICQ in backround around the clock. So i'm online once i turn on my telephone. It works perfect for me!
Setup:
idle after 5000ms: 384 MHz
on backlight of: 122.88 MHz
on suspend: 122.88 MHz
Sorry for my bad english
hi, first of all, thank yu for sharing.
second: Ihave put the exe file on my HD and run it from my phone but it keeps saying:
"your phone is preventing installation, we can try to automatically fix this, but we need to restart your device. continue?"
and when I cic yes, it restarts and nothing happens. so I run the programm again, and get the same message.
anyone have any idea wha the problem might be?
thank you in advance
Installed v1.2 and changed profile to "Power saving", but the cpu clock is still at 528MHz?
For me resulted in more battery drain (version 1. BTW 1.2 doesn't work)
See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3692764&postcount=77
@jouh:
Click on "File" -> "Reset Active Profile". The value of "Active Profile" should change from "Default" to yours and you can see the de-/increasing CPU speed now.

Can you tell us, where did you read about this overclocking to 850 MHz. I would like to learn more about it. Like others say, this program cannot overclock but only underclock. Please give us some links. Thanks
Version 1.2 results excessive battery drain to me too (8-12% per hour, in suspend mode).

CruiseController: an every-day GPS cruise control utility for a car driver, having Windows Mobile 5/6 PDA with a GPS module.
If your car has no built-in cruise-control feature, or you like speeding, but want to stop penalty for it - it's utility for you!
* The main function of the program is to control 2 ranges of speed: let's say city's range and highway's one.
* You can adjust values as you like, and if your speed (measured by GPS module) reaches these values – you’ll be informed by sound.
* Each range has the minimal speed value, after that you may go on without brake. Of course, if other road conditions allow this.
* And there is the maximal speed (of each range), you’ll be informed about it as the top limit, after that you have to free the accelerator pedal, for slowing down immediately – else a penalty for speeding has almost caught you.
* If you again slowed down up to the minimal range’s value – the program reminds you that you are free to increase the speed more.
So, with this function you just need to press or release the accelerator a bit according to the sound alerts.
NOTE:
1. It’s better to set the range values below enough the allowed limits on your roads
2. The speed of your car’s speedometer may differ from GPS speed much due to the wheels diameter and their pressure.
Other features of the program:
* GPS connection is realized via the built-in operating system software driver that is available starting MS® Windows Mobile 5 version (and higher: WM6, 6.1…). This allows to use this program at the same time with other GPS navigation software that may require GPS connect via GPS module’s serial port.
* GPS connection may be permanent (for driving a car), or just periodical each 2 minutes, to save the battery charge, if moving slowly.
* “NO SPEEDING!”: non-stop alerting about the maximum levels exceeded
* The program prevents going PDA to the sleep-mode
Basic functions of speed "cruise control" are free, others are shareware (unlocked after registration), but with no time limit.
Additional functions available after program’s registration:
* “Check maximums only” option: no sound alerts for the minimum ranges limits.
* “Do NOT alert” option: no alerts about the speed, for using other GPS functions of the program in silence.
* GPS-reminder: save the point you are in (sure, coordinates from GPS will be saved also), and the program will alert you when you are again in this area (if the program is running). Without registration only the first point added is controlled.
New in v.2.5x:
* "Speed in miles" option
* "Backlight always ON" option
* Experimental manual reminging feature: press the screen button to switch alerting on (for ex. about some road limitation that can be forgotten during the way ), can be turned off manually (screen button) or automatically when you reach the next threshold of the maximum speed.
* First version of track and speed logging (.csv file format for now only, in folder "Tracks" in program's installation folder)

Access daily wifi public networks do not want my exposed Mac address on the networks .
No MAC, no TCP/IP ==> You don't want to have no MAC.
Anyway, since MACs aren't unique there is no concern regarding privacy or security.
Corect, your MAC has your name on it?

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/how-and-why-to-use-random-hardware-addresses
Why use random hardware addresses?
Applies to Windows 10
When you're not connected to Wi-Fi, your PC sends a signal to look for Wi-Fi networks in the area to help you get connected. The signal contains the unique physical hardware (MAC) address for your device. Some places, for example shopping malls, stores, or other public areas, might use this unique address to track your movement in that area. If your Wi-Fi hardware supports it, you can turn on random hardware addresses to make it harder for people to track you when your PC scans for networks and connects.

On the x50 phones it should be just as simple; however just like on W10PC it requires driver support. I think it works something like this:
Windows> Wifi driver, what tricks do you know?
Driver> 802.11n, wpa2, power saving, random hardware addresses, ...
Windows> OK let's turn on the mac scrambler and do some scanning
I think, just like with call recording, Microsoft is waiting for the nagging threshold to be reached before they add this feature to older phones.
Manually changing the mac address however, I'm guessing is already possible through the registry.
http://www.csoonline.com/article/29...-random-mac-addresses-for-wi-fi-security.html
According to new recommendations by an IEEE study group, the Wi-Fi protocol needs to be updated to use randomly generated addresses for better security and privacy.
Today, the 802.11 Wi-Fi standards are designed so that each mobile device gets its own, unique media access control (MAC) address -- which allows spies, criminals, and advertisers to track mobile users.
"Because of the uniqueness of the identifier and the fact that they're not encrypted, you can easily make a connection between the identifier and the user," said Juan Carlos Zuniga, principal engineer at InterDigital and chair of the IEEE 802 Privacy Executive Committee Study Group.
That's because the protocols developed over the course of decades were originally designed to work over local networks with stationary devices. (...)
"We have tried it on 802.11n, on 802.11g and 802.11ac," he said. "This is something that can be done by a firmware update, if manufacturers decide to do so."
It does require changes at either the hardware or the operating system layer, however, not an app.
"I don't think today you can do it with over-the-top software," Zuniga said. "It really has to be part of the design."
But the newer the device, the more likely it is the fix can be distributed with an operating system update, he added.
For example, Apple's latest iOS update includes privacy features for when the devices are scanning for wireless networks -- but the update only works while scanning, not for after the device is connected, and it only works on the most recent iPhone models.

Thank you! I might add, a reboot is needed. [W10M] Reboot app
Change the registry value
1. Open the Registry Editor.
2. Navigate to,
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318]
3. Under this key, you should see numbers in sequence as "0000 ", "0001 " and so on. Click one at a time to check the description of the device to match it with that of your Network Card. In this case it is "0000 "(at first on my device).
4. Highlight the corresponding number that match your Network Card(Qualcomm WiFi), look for the "NetworkAddress " key value. Enter the desired MAC-Address as a 12 digit number (all in one, no "space" "." or "-")
5. If the key "NetworkAddress" does not appear, create "New " as "String Value ". Enter the name as "NetworkAddress ". Now set the desired value.

Well, test it, maybe there is a way. I only tried 0001 where the value was present. I didn't want to mess with the other ones because I was not sure what they are for. One is for Bluetooth.
Just to confirm, MAC address spoofing really works, at least on Lumia 550. I've used procedure for Windows 10 (same as @djamol described above) but with Interop Tools.
Don't forget to reboot after NetworkAddress change.
I also created small .bat file helper, to simplify correct adapter search (it was 0009 for my L-550). Run it via ssh session on the phone, not on the PC. And you should have reg.exe copied to c:\windows\system32 of course.
Please, note: MAC addresses, started with 0x, isn't working (for me). First, I wanna set 01-02-03-04-05-06 address (NetworkAddress value 010203040506) - this doesn't work but 120203040506 works perfect!
P.S. BTW, this hack is useless, I don't really know how this can be used.

Windows Mobile Continuum Scaling on External Screen

Continuum is the unique feature for windows phone. continuum will scale perfectly ,when it connected to Monitors with full HD resolution.
But when you use it for TV , scaling problems will occur. Those who don't have PCs, Continuum will be become wonderful mini PC Experience.
few people ,may know these Registry values when 950/xl devices first inter-op unlocked for continuum scaling.lately made a post for others.
If your device is inter-op unlocked, you can change these registry values for perfect scaling and smooth experience.
below procedure is "wired continuum " with 950 xl with LCD Full HD local tv
wireless continuum not tested due to lack of Miracast Device,it's also same with another Config id ,if you connect only connect with Miracast ,2nd config id which lengthy, is continuum config id ,next time when you connected.,In wired connection check another lengthy config id (3rd one)came or not.
Intial Setup :-
If your Device is unsupported and had Miracast feature Deploy continuum Cabs using the " Continuum for unsupported devices"
First open Continuum app and complete setup ,you will see continuum on big screen which is stretched
go to external settings==> display , grab display slider to top left as seen below and restart.

When Continuum establishes Connection. Configuration ID is Created under below path.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/ControlSet001/Control/GraphicsDrivers/Configuration/2nd one(Your Continuum config ID)
when you connect through one setup it may be wired or wireless there will be one Config ID will be generated
For my 950 XL wired connection
SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\GraphicsDrivers\Configuration\CMO00110_09_07D9_98+___900015_01_07D8_99^485D46A2EC43A2B39ACB2592A9ED698A\01\00
for example if you connect through wireless setup ,one config ID generated remeber that like it is for scaling for wireless display scaling or name it in category with id for wptweaks
then you again connect with wired setup another Config ID is generated remeber it for scaling for wired display scaling.
Remember id for which it is belongs to like wired or Wireless
if you connect through both wired and wireless setups and you see only one config ID ,look for two "DwmClipBpx.xxxx" registry values in two places.
For any Config ID modification is same at all registry values
when you go into Config ID then
go to 01 then 00
Below 4 values are Responsible for scaling. See above picture
Enter all values through Interop-unlock App,values are in hexagonal
1) DwmClipBpx.bottom
2) DwmClipBpx.left
3) DwmClipBpx.right
4) DwmClipBpx.top
Here.Bottom and right values are resolution of this external display.
Left and top values are Side scaling.
open interop unlock app in Continuum Mode or use wptweaks by importing xml file.
TVs may not have the exact resolution of 1920x1080
it will be something like 1895x1060 as my local tv
first change the values according to your tv
DwmClipBpx.bottom =1062
DwmClipBpx.right =1895
these bottom, right may inter change Device to device and continuum app(950 vs hp).
still some gaps will be there, then
change other two values . Disconnect the cable and reconnecting to check it perfectly working or not. if is wireless Disconnect and connect.
Changes will appear instantly & Change accordingly
next to change are the 2 values with near values like
DwmClipBpx.left =42
DwmClipBpx.top =25
that's all.
if u feel to do some experiment change these values too.
if there some screen flickering due to sync frequency, where are horizontal or vertical sync values, you can change below 4 values..See above picture
1) HSyncFreq.Numerator
2) HSyncFreq.Denominator
3). VSyncFreq.Numerator
4) VSyncFreq. Denominator
i tried increase below 2 numerator values increase for some better experience .denominators no need to change
HSyncFreq.Numerator default 67500000 = 77777777
VSyncFreq.Numerator. default 60000 = 99900
Tweaking denominator values shakes the screen in my 950,try yours if want to do so.
For Wptweaks :-
First Download continuum-Scaling_tweaks-2
change your Config ID of your Device and properly Name it at "<tweak category=" According to its type Like below for all 6 tweaks (For Example Wired)
for second Connection(ex wireless config) check whether other ID came or not replace id at path and change "<tweak category=" accordingly
check values need to enter in hexagonal, change accordingly using calculator app programming mode
use notepad next to add in main tweaks.xml
add these continuum-tweaks in complete tweaks.xml -:
If anyone tried on 4K TV suggest values in Reply
you can experience better performance by adjusting display for different external screens
its working perfectly with my tv & watching 4K youtube video on continuum

I have tried on 640xl with a wireless miracast stick (1920x1080) pluged into a fullHD monitor (1920x1080), but it doesn't work.
There is no ..../01/01 just ..../01/00
Have changed DwmClipBpx.bottom =768 ->1080
DwmClipBpx.right = 1280 ->1920
Also tried on both last Config ID's and restart phone
Maybe that only works on 950/XL OR only works with a wired DOCK

Ok, I realize that my issue is not Scaling but Resolution. It means continuum still fills the fullHD screen but resolution is much lower than 1366x768

It's also for resolution change, buy in wireless, processor should support, you need to tweak some Power supply registry values too

Question pixel 6 Hotspot & 5 GHz?

I use hotspots however noticed this only seems to have 2.4 GHz support, I can't seem to find 5 GHz...............am I missing something?

Did you try out the "extend compatibility" button?
If that is activated, it should mean that 2.4 Ghz is used (for greater compatibility) - if you un-check it, it should switch to 5Ghz. Maybe I misinterpret this button/option, but I don't quite see what else it would do.

No it doesn't do that, that seems to be nothing to do with Wifi 5 GHz on the Hotspot menu

I did a bit of research and found a couple of reddit threads talking about a similar issue with the Pixel 4/ Pixel 5
For reference one
->
https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/lmlhxt
And the results are mixed.
There are people that claim that it might have something to do with having an active 5G connection to your own House-Network wifi that might prevent the Pixel to open 5Ghz network itself, some claim that it has to do with a 5ghz-force option in developer options, one guy even claimed Google said that it only supports 2.4ghz - even though at last one said that his Pixel 4 can open 5Ghz hotspots.
So you have 4 opinions with four different results and only one will suit your needs.
Thanks, Internet. I guess.
I travel a lot and not always does hotel WIFI network serve me well, not to mention security
I use an app (that requires root of course) and allows me to select 5 GHz for an access point
down to which channel I prefer from a list of options for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz tethering.
VPN Hotspot - Apps on Google Play
Share your VPN connection over hotspot or repeater. (root required)
play.google.com
One advantage is that the client devices can benefit from adware filtering since it
filters the entire network by chaining the local VPN that blocks ads like a pi-hole

That's interesting info and I installed it, however I can't get Nordvpn to share, are you using pixel6Pro, or android 12? system install or not? I read the manual at github. I also don't understand if repeater or hotspot is required for vpn sharing, and I cant get repeater mode to work anyway, tried setting various pins on the app and in windows, no luck.
The reason is Pixel 6 supports Wi-Fi 6. When you have "Extend compatibility" disabled, it uses 6 GHz frequency, which is supported by far not every device today. If you enable the setting, it switches to 2.4 GHz, leaving you without the option to use 5 GHz. I confirmed this on my Apple device with Wi-Fi 6 support.
I am not sure if 5 GHz hotspot is supported by the phone's hardware, but I suspect it's more likely is and it's just Android's UI not giving you the option. I guess it makes sense to open a ticket at Google's Bug Tracker.
UPD. Made a ticket, please star, this will help the issue to get noticed sooner:
Issue 211113450: Ability to use 5 GHz Wi-Fi hotspot on Pixel 6 & Pixel 6 Pro

I'm currently on live chat with Google, and they're claiming my Pixel 6 doesn't support broadcasting WifI hotspot on 5 GHZ at all. I'm not sure if I believe this though. Any thoughts?
