I recently upgraded to WM6.1 and I can't seem to add the sounds I want for Text Messages.
Either they changed something, or I forgot a step.

I didn't make a smartass comment until you told me that if I was posting that I should give an answer. The difference between you and I is that I contribute to the forum and I don't make comments about people posting without giving the answers and even after all my time here I still search for answers rather that making threads. The point I'm trying to say is we need people to do some research on the forum for their problems and try to solve them themselves instead of expecting to be given the answers to everything. There is a high percentage that an issue has been covered and resolved on the past and if people would search they could get an answer without the need of a new thread of a topic that is on another thread. one other idea regarding this debate. if u really cant get it right with xdadev forum included search, you can always try google search. will get you even better results. I also find it difficult to search with the included search feature, but if you read a bit in the posts, find out what you need (namely Black Comm Manager), try to google it, it will give you accurate results.

The search function and Google really do work, when you use them. In less time it took to read the first page of this thread, I typed it in Google and got a link here. Wow. Everyone was new one point in time. But you really ought to learn to use the features made available for you, not fret like a little boy and have 3 consecutive posts in 5 minutes on the same topic. What did you expect? Someone turning up at your door with the Comm Manager on a silver platter?
It was already made known to you that the item that you were looking for is available through the search function. But you decided to play lazy and post again, your request.

I wonder why a thread of mine was closed in one of the forums and I really have no idea what I did wrong and even who to ask what and why? (The thread is in the ROM development section of the Topaz forum, concerning cooked ROMs that support handwriting).
Are there seperate admins for each sub-forum and if yes, how can I find them? Or who else can I ask?

Any mod will do. You may have either posted warez, links to it/them, instructions on how to get them. Or simply posted in the wrong section altogether.

Maybe someone else asked something similar and you are getting penalized for not searching before posting. That is the only other thing that I can think of.
oh dear, if thats the reason, I'm simply to stupid for this forum I searched and poured more than 8 hours yesterday over posts, especially the ROM post, which all have well over 2000 replies. So I know that people are asking about handwriting but the question usually just goes under in the ROM threads....

More than likely it was closed because it has nothing to do with rom development. The rom development forum is not the place to ask for specific roms or features. It should have been asked in the general forum.
The Mod should have given you the courtesy of moving it for you or at the very least a short explanation. I have from day one, had a problem with the quick unexplained trigger finger of many mods on this forum. A little common courtesy would be nice.

As far as the searching, once you are in a thread that you think may have some relevant information for you, you will see a button that reads "Search This Thread". Simply put in your search parameters and choose to get "posts" for results. This will make it a lot simpler than going through 2000+ posts.
As far as the transcriber, there are cabs out there since lots of Chefs actually leave this option out due to lack of space in the rom. Let me know if you need help finding the cab.

I understand how incredibly difficult it is to maintain a forum of this size and activity (I was once a Diablo2 Battlenet Mod ) and I appreciate the work you all put in there. I probably wouldnt have made this thread if it was my 400th post... after a while you get a feeling for where what goes and also for the search cloud and how to find stuff. But imagine if a newbie comes in here and wants to find out if his new Topaz is an ARM or a SH3 because he/she wants to download the Total Commander Beta... (ok, well maybe this is not the forum for people who dont know what hardware they are using)

Understood. But with threads this big, lets assume that somebody asks in Dutty's ROM thread if it supports handwriting on page 100 something. You cant be 100% sure that if the question was answered it contains the word "handwriting" again. So you do have to read to the nect 150 pages to see if somebody actually answered the question (Nobody did, I should know)

Questions like that are best searched for over in the Themes and Apps section.
The 2 most widely-used solutions for doing a full-system backup for your TP2 are SPB Backup and Sprite Backup.
Windows Mobile Backup
Windows MyPhone works perfect for backing up and restoring all data, including texts

The problem is not about helping users. It is about letting XDA become so junked up with multiple threads about the same thing because people are too (fill in the blank) to search. Can you imagine how bad it would be if everyone who had a question just started a new thread.
In addition, if you people would read the forum rules you would be informed that searching is the first thing you do before posting. That includes in a thread or starting a new thread.
As long as "helpful" people reply to the (fill in the blank) people that ask without searching, and give them the answer, we will never have control of XDA. It just gets more and more bloated and junked up. Sorry if you don't see that.

I'd like to add that if these people can't be bothered to spend a little time do a simple thing like search for the answer to their own question then why should anyone else put any effort in ?
At one point there seemed to be a new thread almost everyday asking "My RAM is at x%". What does that achieve apart from pushing legitimate questions off the bottom of the page so people with real problems are less likely to get help ?
I think there should be a 24hr posting ban for anyone starting a thread who blatantly hasn't spent any of their own time trying to sort it out. The forums rules do state you have to search first and maybe by enforcing this we could streamline things a bit.

There a lot of members incl. me who would like to see your work once again, but this is just wrong. Why harm the entire Community by doing this instead of just ignoring those members who bothers you?
I know exactly what you mean by lazy persons, there are just too many people who does not search or try to do something about their issues with their device themselves and just wants to be spoonfeed by others.

I agree, if you're so easily offended by people who aren't even aggressive but just a but dull, you shouldn't make a public release. All others have to deal with this as well, deleting a thread just because somebody posted something that might be considered a "negative comment" because he made a mistake is ridiculous. That doesn't reflect on the dev but that person alone, most people reading here are intelligent enough to recognize that.
Also, if people are making the same mistakes over and over, your documentation is probably lacking, and documentation is part of any release. And if people are supposed to test a release, they need to know how to use it. Plus it would be wiser to listen and consider the possibility that there's an actual bug instead of always saying "nah, you did something wrong".
Sorry to say that because I really appreciate his work and porting the Privacy Guard was a great unique feature, but at times munjeni was just rude for no reason. And this final move is an insult against everybody.

I am so sorry to these peoples! Next time anybody must be active instead of being silent and lazy for helping each other! My whole thread got 3 pages of negative reports but nobody chosed his 5 minute to try to help there, thats one of the reasons why I had decision to stop all my work. My whole thread got 3 pages of negative reports but nobody chosed his 5 minute to try to help there, thats one of the reasons why I had decision to stop all my work. Hope moderators finaly close our thread?! Thanks!

I understand you, but you know right that you can Close the thread yourself? There should be a button for it in the "edit" option on the main post.

I know that but @KennyG123 told me that I need to contact moderators for thread close! I will contact administrator and ask him about my rights for my own threads since if these thing which @KennyG123 told me is true than I can not see reason why "we" r.c. or r.d. have these option available under thread menu, thats realy funny if we have no right for closing own treads or asking moderators for own thread deletion. I reported this post allready but thread is still opened.

Sorry, I didn't see the report for this one. And I apologize but RDs can close their own threads for any reason, RCs cannot. I apologize that the green of your username resulted in me only showing you the RC rules. Again apologies for not seeing that this morning.
