Latest .net framework question - Touch HD Themes and Apps

So I finally upgraded from the Kaiser to the HD. WOW!!!
I love just picking it up and looking at the screen....
I have tried installing only two apps thus far -gyrator and HD Tweak. Both apps tell me that they require the latest version of the .net compact framework. I am running the HD in it's out the box state.
I've searched here and performed a general google search but this has not yielded any simple answer
Hopefully some kind soul can help me sort this out or at least point me down the right path...
And let me say it in advance: fankyouwellymush!

Try to install .net Compact Framework http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=E3821449-3C6B-42F1-9FD9-0041345B3385&displaylang=fr
Hope this helps

Thanks, that's worked.

Questions after upgrading to WM6 - Help...

Ok, I have upgraded my Hermes to WM6 using the ROM on the wiki site.
I have installed all my apps and everything was looking great. I then noticed the Extended ROM and half a dozen cab files. So I have installed all of these as assumed they were some sort of patches.
I carried on installing my apps but now after a reboot the SIM PIN Lock entry screen looks a really basic (non 3d) button version and the keypad that should be shown when pressing the green call button isn't displayed I just get a white screen.
I have installed the following apps:-
eWallet 5
Tomtom 6
PocketBreeze 5.2
Phone Alarm + VistaMedia skin
Any ideas on what has happened?
Do I need to re-flash my phone?
Help..
Thanks
Mark

Which version have you upgraded to?? If it is v0.20.x (thats 0.20.0 or 0.20.1) this is a known issue, seriously recommend reading the thread concerned with the ROM you are flashing before going ahead (the link for the thread is in the table aswell).

Yes it was the Vanilla version. I have done the wrong one?
Can you point me in the direction of the fix if there is one?
Thanks again

The best thing to do is to is to perform a 'Hard Reset' which will reset your device back to the same point as when the rom was flashed, so you will need to reinstall everything. Suggest you install the same things again but dont install the skin....this might be incompatible with WM6 (since nearly all skins are designed for use in WM5).
BTW, i would take some time to read through the wiki and familiarise yourself with the various reset types and other literature on ROM upgrades, the knowledge in these pages will hold you in good stead for the future sir

Just one other question. Should I have ran all the CAB's from the Extended ROM?

Not really....the best thing you can do is to leave the ext_rom alone and just manually configure your MMS and WAP settings by hand. The ext_rom (again) contains cab installers that are designed for WM5.....while most should work in WM6 there are some that dont. ext_rom is something i havent used for ages in XDA-Live (v0.1 and now 0.2) and I dont miss it.
Just install the apps you were running (phonealarm and others). The ext_rom doesnt do much except run carrier based stuff (like themes and automatic settings).

I want to learn how to cook a rom

I want to learn how to cook a rom but i dont know where to start. whats the best programme to use? any tutorals? please help
Search for Kitchens.
You use kitchens to cook roms.
The wiki has lots of information to ramp your base knowledge.
I second the suggestion to Search for Kitchen, both in the forums and the wiki. It's all here.
Then the easiest place to start is with matts Pandora Kitchen.
Then as you get more comfortable , I like Core Kithen, he even includes a tutorial.
A great search tool that I use:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298893
It keeps me from asking questions that have been asked a thousand times.
Best kitchen documentation is available in Wizard forum. Download Faria's kitchen and read the instructions with it. Cooking concept is the same for both the devices, just the OS is different.
Once you have the knowledge, you can try matt's Pandora or RomDonald's
PS: Do not use wizard kitchen to cook a hermes ROM
is there any progamming language you need to learn before starting or is it all part of the kitchen?

no, it's moving files around, running applications, and clicking checkboxes. Super easy once you get rolling.
is there a good tutoral for these things or is a lot of it just trial and error. any good tips? dont want to risk bricking my device more than i have to.
im also running windows vista will that limit my choices?

Download the pandora kitchen....give that a bit of a play with.
I am interested in where can I find base OS roms. I would like to cook my own rom and for example to use build 5.2.2000 WM6. Where can I find it?

I dont think .2000 has been ported yet for hermes...if you can port it for hermes, then you are a chef (like faria or Schap's, etc)...but for us cooks, find the ROM you like (eg. Schap's 4.0 or Pandora's, etc), extract OS and start playing with it.
so far ive read up on the pandora kitchen post and the others suggested in this post. it seems like the easyest to use it the pandora kitchen but it dosnt seem to run. the build os programme stops responding. im currently downloading the latest .net but it might be because i have vista. i cant downgrade to xp due to a problem with my hard drive. should be getting a new one this week but would like not to have to dual boot to save hard drive space plus i like vista.

To ensure you have configured the kitchen correctly (ie put the components in the correct location after downloading), try downloading the Pandora Naked kitchen from it's rom thread (in my sig). It's a complete package - so extract it into a folder and try running BuildOS. If it fails - it's your PC. If it works - it's the way you assembled it.

6.1 kitchen

Im looking for a rom kitchen that will work for wm6.1 does anyone know what would be the best one that'll work with vista?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=363721
I think that's the only one.
Matt took his down.
here's matts: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365604
ive tried both and they dont work ive been using the earlyer versions of the pandora kitchen but even that wont work now
Maybe it's because of this forums current ftp issues, see the "Announcement: FTP Problems!" at the top of this Hermes Mobile 6section.
I've created a basic rom with Matts on Vista Pro. You need to make sure you have the re-distributables installed

When you say that do you mean the 3.5 .net framework and visual c++ express? if so i already have those. they were the 1st things i installed on this new hard drive after vista home priemium

Easy Question!!! Needs Answer!

What is the latest .net framework i can download for my htc diamond, and what does it do? exactly... i know i sound super noob right now..
You can get it off my signature. A lot of programs require this so it's essential.

background4alltabs in new ROM?

Hello,
I performed my first flashing of ROM last night, I installed Dutty's last ROM for Windows mobile 6.1 because I could not take the instability of the stock ROm anymore, I hope this one is going to be more stable.
Howeever, I cannot find an application that will install a background for all the tabs. I tried Gregoriez but it did not work. I searched the forum but they are all for different Manilla versions. My phone tells me that I have TouchFlo 3D version 3.
What can I use to be able to have my own background in all the tabs?
Thank you!
Oddly enough I typed in 'background for all tabs' into the search function and found this thread. Maybe you could do something similar and also search!!
