I finally decided to work on my own theme. I have a ways to go before I am done and it could be awhile. I'm making custom icons as I couldnt find what I was looking for. I plan to release icons for all stock programs as well as a pack to use with BetterCut for Market downloads I've been using it in it's current state on my phone for about a week with no issues. If someone would like to play around with it as is PM me.
To Do's:
Custom icons for all stock apps + common market downloads
Custom Clock
Custom status bar, battery, signal, wifi, ect.
Plan to replace as many stock icons as I can.
This is the first theme I have ever attempted, as well as my first time I have created icons, so it's a learning experience for me. If you have any suggestions or feedback let me know=)

Beta...flash at your own risk. Working on my phone and one other that I know of. Per usual, I am not responsible if your phone blows up or becomes a brick. Still very far from a finished product, a lot left to do...but feel free to use it and send me any feedback. wifi and signal bars were done quickly and will be the first thing I upgrade. Coming from you that means a lot...I'm still not happy with the white inside...on some of the icons it's hard to see what the white actually is

I have finished replacing most the stock icons...I redid a lot of the ones I had done already. I have a very specific design in mind for the status bar icons, however my I cannot do what I want to in GIMP and I cannot get my PS to work...I even tried to download a trial of PaintShop Pro...so until I figure that out I dont know how much progress I can make...
I will upload a file later for anyone looking to beta test this for me.

Like the wallpaper...I've been trying to find one I like...I settled on a simple one, but i like yours as well=)
As far as the status signal goes I am going to go darker and much more polished looking when I get some free time to play with it. Thank you for the feedback. I'll keep you updated.
EDIT: Also I am trying to figure out if I want to keep the folders as they are. They fit the theme nicely as far as color goes...however they are neither Octagon nor Gloss. Anyone have an opinion?

I will happily test this theme when it is ready (or almost) ready.
Sadly I don't think this can be done the right way. I was able to do the same thing with the status bar but it was a placebo effect. You'll be stuck with the same wallpaper. If anyone is willing to prove me wrong I'll be happy for it, as I got lots of ideas I would like to try but stopped due to this hurdle. Good luck in getting this to work.
P.S. the clock looks absolutely awesome.

Unfortunately you are absolutely correct. I'll just have to go for a sort of a dimmed status bar that'll look transparent but really isn't. Sigh. Why do you torment us like this, Android developers?
The clock does look good, and at least with that one we don't have to fake the transparency effect
I might do a bunch of status bars with different colors; one whiteish, one black, one red, one blue, one brown, etc. That way at least you could get the color of the status bar to decently match any wallpaper you might use. Of course that also means you would have to re-flash the phone every time you changed the wallpaper to something with a different general color.
Hum, I wonder, would it be possible to make a special update.zip containing only the framework apk? I mean, everything else ought to be left intact then, right? An install would be very speedy, just seconds, when all that is needed is an update of the framework. No apps, launcher etc to be reinstalled.
Thoughts?

Yeah, I've done it with individual apps that way too, but never with the framework apk that is in a different folder than the apps for some reason. I thought it might be different with the framework because of that, but it really should not be. Good to know it's doable though, thanks for confirming!
Pretty cool idea, does this mean it wont show your service? wifi service, battery level etc? I wasn't sure if that was just a mockup you made in photoshop or it will really be that blank

Oh, all status bar icons and such will be there once it's done. Though preferably they will be redesigned to fit the glossy theme better than the default ones.
If you can realize this theme like the concept you showed, it will be a most impressive theme. Even the concept is absolutely beautiful.
If we can figure out how to get rid of the black bar at the top when we make transparent status bars this theme would be able to take advatage of it
O.k i have never tried the transparent bar but i think there is two one in drawable an drawable-land the one in drawable-land is black did you try making both of theme clear? Then again there is a lot of stuff thats in the .xml that might be stopping the process. I would ask the .xml doctor to see if thats the case.

Hey Everyone,
Well i believe my FadetoBlue theme is all done. I think i will eventually tweak it a bit more. But for the most part it is done and i am getting bored with it, kind of. So a RockBand theme seemed to be the logical choice for me, i am pretty big fan of the Xbox 360 games, especially now that i own the Stage kit. what is more fun then having a bunch of friends over, filling the room with fog and lights, drinking and rocking out!
So i am moving on to the next theme, but after experiencing the 500+ files you have to change on a theme i wanted to get some ideas and a color scheme to follow before i start it.
So make some suggestions and if i like them, they will make it into the theme. The only thing i have done so far is a wallpaper and started a new update.zip for the theme.
So messing with RC33 and changed a few icons, what do you guys think?
The bass drum will display an up,down or up and down arrow for data transfer and The Signal stregth is shown by the amount of tuners on the bass. I am going to use the Mic for the battery. But wanted to get some feedback on what i have so far. Also the top bar is not staying that color.

I can take the icons off of this wallpaper, which i am thinking of doing. But the text "RockBand" is on the original file i found and will not be easily removed. I will post the original wall paper in the first post.

Ghostbusters theme and wallpaper.
Feel free to browse my site while your getting the theme, it's all I ask for in return (even if you'll all probably hate it!).
What I have added:
Red ghostbusters battery - this goes from red (full) to very light red (empty) no bormal green to red as I felt the ghostbusters logo lost its charm green
Slimer for BT - Green is on, blue is active
A ghost trap for wifi. Beam moves up and down based on signal.
Proton pack for the launcher, with ghostbusters symbol
Ghostbusters logo for screen lock. Red is correct, and purple is incorrect.
I will update as and when I get time. Hope u all enjoy.
Black text is unreadable. Other than that great job!

You could probably just grab one of the theme that has the white clock and use that.
here are all the files you will need for the white text.
drop classes.dex in services.jar and the other 3 in framework-res.apk/res/layout

It's weather widget. In the options choose download skin, the skin is called glass clock.

as for the battery u have now in the notification bar i think either the logo should disappear as the % goes down cause right now i'm at 80% and i couldn't tell until i went to Settings<About Phone<Status
I was thinking may you can try to have something like the plsma or whatever was shot out of the proton pack and as the % goes down the line will go down..

it looks good so far and depending on what you want help with as far as .xml's go i might be able to give you a hand, but i can provide assistance in signing .9.png's.
welcome to the exciting world of theme-ing i think one of the best places you can start with theme-ing is to modify someone elses work with their permission of course, then once you get comfortable there branch out into your own work. this is a great first theme keep it coming
also don't worry too much about a name, i mean come on, look in my sig at what my current theme is lol

i have a new found respect for themers... the amount of time and tedious effort that goes into themes is something else!

i plan to make more changes to the app drawer, haven't decided if i want to change app icons yet. i'll post a poll and if people want app icons, i'll give em.
yeah you should make custom app icons
i think you should its the reason i love themes so much...the variety of the apps.

I love the look just for some reason not to much the launcher. I'm not hating because i love the green/black feel as some of those who went on my forum when it first started but great job!!!

Personally, i do not prefer app icons because third party apps mess up the look of it. The easiest thing to do to please but people that want them and people than don't, would be to make a seperate update.zip that just contained the apps with the changed icons. Stericson has a blank update.zip you can grab from somewhere (sorry can't remember link) that you can grab and just drop the modified .apk's into.

i feel the same way about icons. looks like people are wanting app icons, so thanks for that advice. i'll find that link.
please make in 4.1.1 this theme is so badass!
Custom Icons...
Although they look pretty sweet...unless all you have on your phone is stock apps, it doesn't look so good having custom icons mixed with non-custom. To top it off, having half your icons neon green, and half not, it would take away from the over-all essence of the theme. Just my opinion.
