Somebody pls help!! - Touch HD Themes and Apps

Ive had my Touch HD for about 4 months now and its starting to loose its mind. The vibration only works sometimes for a few mins and then it stops, its gone really slow and freezes aswell. I am on the verge of selling it and gettin a Blackberry or the nokia e71. Is there anyone who can change my mind and help me with the problems? It would be greatly appreciated as the first few months i thought it was the best phone i ever had!

did you try to hard reset or flash a new rom ??

Will this fix the vibration problem as well because I dont really wanna spend alot of time changing the rom and then I either end up with a bricked device or still have the same issue. Just on the phone to orange now see if they can exchange my handset even though i have had it for 4 months now. wish me luck...

Orange is sending me a new handset tomorrow so hopefully that will fix the problem. They have advised me not to install any 3rd party software for a few days which should not be a big problem. But i was also told that if i experience any other problems on 2 more occasions that I would be able to change my handset for another model which is good customer service
Anyway now that i AM gettin a new touch hd, can anyone of the "senior" members of this forum give me their list of programs installed which have not caused the phone to slow down? I already know of fingerkeyboard, smschat (or smiley sms) and coreplayer. But I still am in need of a good gps software and the upgrade to TF3D v2 or v3 and a gd application to tilt the screen into landscape mode. Any help is much appreciated!

I have been using my HD for a while have not flashed any new ROM's but do have quite a list of 3rd party Windows Mobile software I use on it all working nicely.
Many of my applications are not freeware though, bought over the years as I'm a long time Windows Mobile user.
In my opinion you do not need to flash the ROM to still take advantage of your great HD
My applications include:
Pocket Informant
Resco Utility Pack
Softmaker Office Suite
SPB time
SPB Traveller
SPB Mobile Shell (plus the omnia SPB Skins skinning tool)
SPB Brain Evolution
SPB Finance
SPB Wallet
SPB weather
Pocket Investor
GarminXT GPS
MSS Converter
Phatnotes for MS Outlook
Skype
GSen
LockmeLite
SKTools
Sprite Backup
Finger Keyboard
Google Maps
HD Tweak
PocketMusic
Cheers

Why don't you upgrade the stock firmware first to the new 1.56 and new 1.13 radio, supposed to fix a lot of issues and give better battery life / gps signal.

Is that the 1 from the HTC website? cos when i entered my serial number last time it said that the upgrade was not available for me so i assume that i already had the latest version...
EDIT: Dont you just love orange? I have just received my replacement and it is a generic handset. hehehe

Hello omz
To check your rom version start/settings/system/device information with the phone being 4 months old it will more than likely have version 1.14, the latest version 1.56 from htc.com is only available for sim free phones i.e. it was purchased with out a contract. As mentioned else where on this forum, providers like Orange etc will take a few months with there update if they bother at all. If they don’t your other option will be to either flash with a custom rom loads on this site or see if some one will send you there official rom. Software, video convertor http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=474955 this is excellent, screen rotation I like this one http://idevelopstuff.com/dev/WM/Fuze...creen_inst.cab but there is also gyrator, satnav TomTom 7.915 works a treat on these phones. WM6 memory leaks is worse than WM5?

I just upgraded to WM6 and I installed the same applications which were installed back when I have WM5. One of them if SpB Plus, whereby I put the RAM icon (for running program) at the 1st tab.
I noticed that after running the same applications I typically used back in WM5 (messaging, Pocket Information, SpB Insight, Phone Alarm, etc.), WM6 didn't release the memory back as much as WM5.
Example (after running the above program, then closing all of them - NOT minimizing:
WM5: ~21 Mb
WM6: ~ 18 Mb
I tried this about 4 times with 2 separate 8525, one running WM5 and the other WM6.
Forgot to mention: the file that seems to keep growing after opening/closing application is filesys, checked using MemMaid.
Anyone experienced this?
Which version of WM6 are you running?
I am using LVSW Edition (2007-03-15). I haven't tried the 2007-03-20 since I get really tried re-installing different WM6 ROM and re-installing the apps over and over again. Sooo.. I am waiting to see if other have the same problem with various version of WM6 before plunging myself for another 4 hours of reinstalling everything.

I was about to, but I held back because I want to ask if anyone, who have either the LSV or the Black WM6 ROM can tell me if they have the same issue, simply just by looking at the RAM level.
Not that I am lazy, but I have gone on installing ROM so many times it's just not fun anymore and hoping that someone can just post about the memory issue.
UPDATE: I found out that using SkTools "FreeRam" tool, I can free up the memory, but not by much (extra ~1-2 Mb).

well y dont you install the ROM... and use Task Manager to see how much memory each program is using... and do bechmark tests like every hour or so if your really worried about it that much...
Read my post above: installing ROM and re-installing everything is not a 30 minutes gig. Plus, a real testing will involve normal usage, not just running 1-2 apps and watching the screen.
I merely asking for the community assistance for those who have installed the Black version or has noticed similar problem.
Why are you giving me nasty remarks? TIred of installing ROMS?

calm down... im not giving nasty remarks...
was mierly suggesting that you try it out... and leave task manager running and open the applications you are worried about to actually see if it is releasing the memory or not...
i also am sick of flashing ROMs everyday... but thats how you get to learn about different ROMs and their flaws...
I would suggest bringing this to SPB's attention as you seem to have a difference with WM5 and WM6. If this is a must app for you, then until SPB updates their software to be more friendly with the yet-to-be release crossbow OS, you should probably stick to WM5... think of all the extra time you'll have left over to do other things than install and test... especially if it's not fun for you.
Since the first WM6 ROM was made available, I've received WM6 compatible released software from SBSH, Wisbar, CE-Star (Chinese), Conduits, and CodeCity.
Here's one example:
http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10476
We got our hands on the ROM before developers got their hands on the SDK. He got the SDK 06MAR and identified challenges posed by the new theme. 10MAR confirmed he'll a new rendering engine for the WM6 product t WBL. 16MAR released the update. Nicely done Chris.
And many thanks to the Chef's who continue releasing build improvements that address both shortcomings of the original ROM and additions that make some of the features more convenient.
Walshieau, many thanks to you also for your many informative and helpful posts and contributions to the XDA community.

I don't use SPB anything, any after about a day or so, I get about 19MB free. A fresh soft reset, gives me 25MB free.
@darkjedi
If the task manager icon is present in the settings menu (go to start>settings>system(tab)>task manager) then tick the top two boxes and when you press the X button it will actually exit the program you are using. You may have many programs running in the background which you are unaware of, by soft resetting this clears the memory and the programs present are those on startup.
@lanwarrior
Version 0.2 of WMXL has a memory cache fix cab, not sure if this will work on LVSW but it is worth a shot, the memory usage improves after installing this, might be worth a shot....if all else fails perform a hard reset and then maybe flash a different WM6 ROM (Black v1.2 or WMXL 0.2??).
I'm actually using the HTC Task Manager, and am closing the apps. I'm using LVSW 3-15-07 ROM. It's working great. It's not really a complaint honestly, just a little annoyance.
I used to love SPB Pocket Plus mainly for its X Button app, Battery meter and quick launch on today screen.
I did find it used to chomp extra resources and every time I returned to the today screen there was always a second or 2 pause while the today screen plugin refreshed.
I've since switched to Batti, Scott Seligman's Launcher and the HTC Task Manager. Same functionality but way less on system resources and memory.

Thanks for mentioning alternates to SPB PP, which is a disaster on Black v 1.2, in my and other's experience. I am going to get them and give them a try.
I mentioned SpB plus because I use their memory meter to monitor the memory usage for the device, irrespective of the applications, SPb or not.
I am going to remove SPB Plus, but I think this is not the primary cause. I have SpB Plus running overnight with no other applications running (today's plug-in or messaging auto-connect) and the memory usage didn't change.
I think it's more of opening and closing applications, whatever they are.
Those who are using NON-SPB applications but monitor their memory using whatever you have, let us know if the memory usage decrease far more than WM5 over time when you open and close applications.

If you want to run SPB Pocket Plus, do not try Black edition. It has compatability issue. (I personally will not try any Black Edition again unless more than 10 people confirm the issue has solved.)
I need my phone device for work, can't be beta tester all the time...(more than 15 reflash on same Black Edition. Even the creator of ROM indicate the fixed, but he hasn'y really test it.... Personally, I like Black edition the most, but....)
I am currently running LVSW late edition, very stable. I am running OS only with more space edition. Radio 1.38.0.10 seems to enhance the battery life. Maybe I am using Black Edition's black theme.

Since these cooked WM6 roms available (Vanilla, WMXL, Black, LVSW, 3DES.1) are all based on early (possibly beta) versions of WM6 you WILL be beta testing them until we can get a fully stable version.
Its thanks to hard working individuals like Kyphur, walshieau, jasjamming, lvsw, olipro, pof et all ~(apologies if ive missed anyone out that REALLY should be mentioned) that these ROMs are getting more and more stable every time a new version is released, if you dont like using them then revert back to WM5. But dont go wragging on the authors just because software DESIGNED FOR WM5 doesnt work on them.
Id suggest cooking your own WM6 version as it may help you appreciate the work put into these releases....free of charge may i add.

Update - WMXL v0.30

Hi guys,
Wow has it been a busy week. Closing went flawlessly (only 45 minutes of signing Documents before we were all done). The problems have been with all of the scheduled deliveries and the movers. We're getting there though.
I hate to say it but I have to move dates back 1 week. I don't want to rush a release and since I've been off-line for almost a week I want to take some time to go through the additional fixes (like the update to WiFi bubble fix) that have popped-up while I've been out.
If you guys want to help me by posting these new fixes here I'd appreciate it.

SMSproviders.dll for VM notifications
This fix only affected a small number of us (Orange UK) and Fido.Ca (?)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1183094&postcount=16
I'm not sure about the impact of installing the dll on other networks...
Optional!
Also have you seen the new lvsw rom, seems to be the newest os version around....
Good things need time, so don't hurry
Now as there is a way to get the SIP Client working (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299950). Is there a chance that you use it in version 0.3?
A few things from the last week....
There may be a volume problem in some of these builds
The white screen/bad block issues (which I am sure you have seen) ... and which I am not sure have been resolved .. olipro could better educate you about that
LVSW built from a newer WM6 ROM (and jasjamming noted that his next release is from a non-beta release of WM6)
Some hints as to features in non-beta WM6
Welcome back, kyphur
Welcome back Kyphur, Glad to hear that all is going ok with the move.
Just a few things that i have picked up:
Many people having issues with the white screen issue and not being able to fix it. Some people having issue with downgrading from different roms.
Dont know why.... Not reading the guide????
And a note on 0.20v i have had very few issues.
Will there be the new offical Windows live mobile app as an opptional? not BETA???
Just sitting tight and waiting for the release....
Welcome back Kyphur.
Last time I moved, Internet access was a CF.
Had to settle for ISDN at first (no cable or DSL).
Good to see you're up and running.
Code on, dude!
P.S. Hope you got the donation ok.
Will this still have the lastest wm6 rom , as since 030 was pre released the WM rom has been updated.
I noticed WMXL Windows Live! Mobile Doesnt Work
Is this beta dead. Are you planning on adding in public version .30 I removed it and tryed to reinstall and if comes up unsuccessful every time i try.
This isn't a fix, but it is an issue I am running into...
You can read about it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1200400#post1200400
If you could figure out a fix for it that would be awesome...
Anybody can help me with WMXL ?
With both v 0.20 as well as with v0.30-Pre i have the same problem -
when i'm attached to the 3G/GPRS network for a long time the device becomes abnormally warm and battery goes away like hell !
Battery goes to zero in 2-3 hours !
Nothing helps.
Any advice ?

Do you have any apps installed, because I don't have that problem so its gotta be either a 3rd party app or hardware.

Which radio version are you using? I had this battery drain prob when I had radio 1.34 installed. Upgraded to 1.38 and now I get a whole day out of my "loaded" 8525 with pre v.30 XDA-Live. You might also check to ensure you're not pushing email 24 hr -- I have mine set to push it only during working hours with a 1 hour check in off peak times.
Hope that helps.

First step would be a HR and no apps. Try for a few hours using on PIE an poutlook. If no heat, then start by adding 1 app and try for a few more hours, etc........ I HIGHLY doubt it is the ROM.

SPB Finance : no skin

Hello
Does anybody use SPB Finance Fast Entry module on the blackstone.
Each time I tried to install it, the fast entry crash due to a "no skin" problem.
Didn't find anything on the spb support site and nobody seems to have found a solution
Thanks
Up
Does anyone has my problem
Try here for information and the solution (although it didn't work for me using Dutty 2.9)

Although I have just read a comment a bit further down
ohny7
Unfortunately Spb Finance Entry doesn't have skins for WVGA devices (480x800) like Toshiba G900 device.

I read those threads and there no solution to get the quick entry system working
I was hoping that someone would have found something
I have found
copy this file to your spb finance "default" folder it will work, but only in VGA. anyway u still can easily use the program, everything works fine some1 owes me a beer)
Thanks
It works but I had to modify the registry. If like me you tried different skins before trying the file given by Salicho, you must delete the different item where skin and spb finance are used in registry. Except the default one, you must erase the other ones to prevent the program to try to use it.
Ask if it doesn't work, but it rocks in my hd
Wonderful
I was so shocked, when Spb Finance Entry didn't work my new phone.
But many thanks to Sallcho who made my Touch HD rock again
Thanks Sallcho I appreciate it.
Did anyone ever find/make a 480X800 skin? Even spb site only gives the 480X600 skin.
MOD EDIT
Moving thread to Themes, Applications and Software forum
Dear all, has anyone tried this software and the above tweak on HD2? Mine did not work, it says Cannot Initialize Main Dialog .

Pharos Traveler GPS Series (117, 127, 137)

I thought someone should start a thread Window Mobile phone series because there is very little community discussion about them. They run off the 6.1 pro version. I personally have had a some success modifying my Traveler 127. i installed M2D in landscape mode thanks to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=488017 the only problem with the install with that i had to use Manila2D 1.00.1819.2926 build to get the interface itself to run but other than that, its great. i can't remember where i got that build but i still have the file and can upload if needed. But anyways I think these are great phones and with everyones help I'm sure they can be even better.
I really can't be the only person with one of these phones, can I?

Well unfortunately i have no idea how to cook ROM's, I'm really hoping by starting this thread that it will catch the eye of someone who can, also the more people that see this thread, the more people that may responed with new ideas, programs and interfaces that they have got to work on their Traveler.
The more we talk the more this thread stays on the first page of the forum and everyone gets to see it.
So thanks for replying, by the way what Programs or Interfaces have you tried on your Traveler 117
Hey buddy,
Actually, I didn't start to handle deeply this traveler.. I am really waiting for some good news about the resources to cook a new rom for it.. because I really don't like this current WM version.
If someone reads this and have access to this information, please post here.
Regards,
you should really the M2D interface i posted. I wasn't at all impressed with SPB Mobile Shell that came with my Traveler 127. So after about two weeks of hunting and trail and error (obviously not every second was dedicated to finding this, i do have to work for a living) I forund M2D interface (HTC Homescreen interface) which acts as a Today Screen Plugin for our WM6.1 pro devices. It's really slick and works with error. I also found an "touch and sweep" type that works with our devices that allows you to scroll like the iphone rather than using the scroll bar itself. I can post this as well if anyone is interested.
Cheers

SPB mobile shell is alright but I just find there are too many steps involved in simple operations. I have infact tried a registered copy of spb mobile shell 3.0 and still too many steps. that's why I use the M2D interface, fewer steps.
What I would really like is for someone to cook a WM6.5 ROM for these phones.
Cheers
I just bought a Pharos Traveler 137 and have already installed the Topaz Comm Manager onto it. I had to change the following registry key after installing it to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > HTC > Comm Manager > WLAN > DeviceName=98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\UFMP1
I'd really like to find out how similar the device is to HTC devices as far as hardware and ROM similarity is concerned. I'm experiencing some skipping during playback of MP3s that wasn't cured by performing a hard reset. It would be nice to fix that.
Cook a rom for Pharos Travler
Anyone get extract the files from official Pharos rom to cook a WM6.5 rom?
There has to be more than three of us with these phones, come guys start talking!
Have had my 137 for just over a week and it seems to be a good phone but the old bugbear of BT voice dialling not working is here. Problem is MS Voice command can be activated by pressing your BT headset but the audio is sent to the device, not the headset. Anyone have any ideas to get it working?
ROM update
Pharos released a new ROM update yesterday. it is the same 20778 build of wm with a Pharos build date date of 6/25/09. not seeing a lot of changes, the double tap effect with single press is still present and it has been reported the blue tooth and voice dial problem still exist. hopefully now that a rom has been released for download someone will start thinking about cooking for the device. first we need HARD SPL!!!
FYI: A mod for Pharos stated in the Pharos Forum that they are NOT curently working on release of 6.5 for any traveler device. i hope this was some sort of mistake.

you should really the M2D interface i posted.
Cheers

hey superman4545,
I am also looking for different options and I'm interested in your findings. If you could post them would be great. particularly curious of the "touch and sweep" option you mentioned. I myself have been using FTouchSL.
A couple of things I've installed...
1. touchpal keyboard (best word suggestion and correction options I've tried to date landscapemode is not the greatest could be larger)
2. PHMregedit
3. Opera 9.7 beta
4. s2u2 latest build found unlocking works smoother when on rawbuffer instead of direct draw but don't take my word as written in stone.
5. pandora with the "vga fix" (this could still use a lot of work but glad it plays)
6. garmin xt
7. total commander
8. FTouchSL
scrolling
i have attached htc scroll. after install navigate in the registry to HKCU\ControlPanel\Gestures\Touch\Disabled and set Decimal value to 0 and soft reset. now you will have htc kinetic scrolling that will not interfere with other programs such as pointui, mobile shell 3 of TF3D.

Here you go, first download this build of the M2D interface http://rapidshare.com/files/149919545/Manila2D_1.00_1819.2926-xplode.CAB then just follow the instructions on the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=488017 But do not replace Backup file and do not do the reset defaults, and finally only install the rapidshare build, audio manager, album manage, and M2D config otherwise the interface will not loadand use these files and you should have no problems with the HTC M2D interface.
Enjoy!

Just wondering if this ROM update was for the Traveler 137?
Glad to see a thread here on this phone
I have had my Pharos 137 just about 24 hours now. What a *quirky* phone. I'm just starting to customize it a bit. Anyone else seen weird interactions with bluetooth accessories? It seems to have crashed my BT stereo headphones - they won't shut off or interact with anything, am waiting for the battery to die so I can recharge and see. (FWIW they're cheap Best Buy house brand - Insignia)
Pandora will work on this phone. A bit challenging to get it installed, still haven't figured out a graceful way to shut it down. Very cool having 3g speed for Slingplayer Mobile.
superman4545,
yes, the updated rom is for the Pharos Traveler 137.

One quick question for ya jlavoie...or anyone that might know for that matter
the scrolling works great for everything except when reading a message in outlook I can scroll through inbox and other folders but not on messages themselves any ideas? I haven't found any reference to this in particular.
Using Pharos 137 btw...
thanks again!

[Q] Spb Finance / Entry getting Can not initialize main dialog! error - any fix?

Hey there
I just installed Spb Finance on my blackstone with duttys R14 and when I open the spb finance entry app (already modified for my resolution with the dskin file) it shows error: Can not initialize main dialog!
Does anyone else encounter this?
Is there a way to fix that?
Thanks
same problem here.. any solutions?
I also have the problem...
... my machine is a HTC Diamond 2 with a newly loaded Win 6.5 ROM. Before SPB Finance was running without problems. Has somebody any idea? Thanks!
So it seems to be a problem with all WM6.5
Known problem in WVGA devices, not just 6.5! You need to search the SPB main site and download a new skin for this finance entry sub-program. This may be in the "Sticky" section of the Pocket Finance forum. Hope this helps.
Alan
Folks, I have been using SPB Finance v2.8.0 fine up to Dutty's Leo R4, which runs on wm6.5. It also ran fine with 6.1 stock and various cooked roms. Never had the problem you've mentioned.
Found this
Alan
I've already tried everything, but without any success - same error msg. I use XTROM GridLeo 1.8.1. Before that, I've had the original WM6.1 rom and after fixing d_skin file it did work. But now, it doesn't.
thanks Alanjp3. it is vga skin, but works.
While the skin worked with my Sprint HTC Touch Pro2 on the WM6.1 Rom, it does NOT work on the WM6.5 ROM.
SPB does not support this product any more.
Has anyone here got a solution on how to run this on a 6.5 ROM?
Thanks folks!!
try winmoFinance....very simple app, gives you what you need...
I changed to that and am OK for the basic money in my pocket tracking
same problem for me too so i changed for Inesoft Cash Organizer.

Yes, that's what I'm using now as well. Works great, though I have one little gripe: In order to see my balances through the today plugin: does anyone know what the shortcut / command parameter to that is? It's so much faster than to have to open the whole program to see the balance.
Another thing: With Cash Organizer I seem to have to buy the program each time I change devices. Is that normal, or am I doing something wrong?
Tried other options too, like WinMoFinance - but it doesn't do what I need it to do. I need to sync 2 PPCs with MSMoney, and the Quick Entry screen is a must by now.
Thanks to all who keep looking!
spbFinance seems to work, sort of
Facing similar problems in upgrading to HD2, I enquired of spb and got this helpful answer that might be of use to others:
"Unfortunately SPB Finance has not been updated for several years, and currently I am not able to promise that it will be updated soon.
SPB Finance does not fully support recent Windows Phones, like HTC HD2. The main application will basically work, but the additional one SPB Finance Entry will not."
I haven't ever used the SPB Finance Entry route, so I stand a chance of getting the main program to work, especially if using a DAgi stylus.
The Cash Organiser program generates a Product ID number that is keyed to the PDA, probably not the Owner Name as lot of product ids do (in which case it would be portable if you use the same owner name) ore likely the PDA UUID in which case it is a new Reg Key for each PDA. That makes it pretty difficult when it comes to upgrading machines so I give software with that kind of protection a miss.
Yup, Inesoft's Cash Organizer is out for us too.
- I change devices often (also have my weekend diamond), and I would have to write in and have them send me a new key each time I change my device. A no go for me.
-the program has at times trouble syncing and when it sees conflicts, just creates a fictitious account on the pda. And even when I erase the account, is keeps it in it's guts and recreates it each time I try to sync again.
Thank you much for posting your correspondence with spb.
