Need help. My Excalibur hungs - HTC Excalibur

Hello, I am having a problem, my excalibur is hung and Turn Off, being in Stand by. It becomes very warm and the only way of restarting it is extracting the battery. Some idea?
The same thing happens to me with 6.1 that with 6.0. In 6.1 it is more frequently (2 or 3 times per day)

Id say your phone is damaged in some way, its not the ROMs, try using a different battery since I read from other posts that can sometimes be the problem.

New battery
Yesterday i put in the new battery its a 1050 mAh and the result was excelent.
my phone doesnt turn off any more and the temperature is constant at 23º c.
and after 24 hours of use the level of charge drops only a 3% with Kavana 6.1 vanilla.

Strange Battery issue

After having gone through the posts regarding battery being drained very fast, went out and got a new one. It worked like a dream for about a month. Used to last a couple of days before requiring a recharge (it would go down to 20% remaining).
I usually leave the battery to charge overnight, have been doing that since the beginning. Well two weeks back, I find that my JasJar shows Green light but it would not turn on. A soft reset resolved the issue. But now everytime the battery goes into full charge (after the orange color LED turns Green) either of the 2 happen
1. The device resets itself. When switched on the battery charge shows less than 100%.
2. The device will not turn on until a soft reset. When switched on the battery charge shows 100%.
I have used WM6 from Laurentius, KDSKamal and the T-Mobile WM5. All ROM's give me the same result.
I tried using my old battery ( to make sure that my device charging was not faulty)and that works fine (except for the fast drain problem).
Anyone with any ideas as to what the problem could be?

seems like your new battery wore out (was not able to take the prolonged charging, an hour of charging will already give you almost 100%)... you said it yourself that your old battery works without the same problem
if you have just bought it for a month... there should be a warranty for this.... have it replaced immediately...

No one has an answer??? Charging isuues

No one cpould advise me on the charging issues that was was posted here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=391732. Can some one pls help me in the below mentioned charging issue?
I picked up the extended battery for my Hermes 100 (running 19701.1.1.0 PV DVH (G&C) with 1.54.30.10 radio) since I was not happy about the OEM battery life.
Now I am facing this problem of the batteries not fully charging. Even after overnight charging my phone would be showing 50% (I use battery status) If I reset the phone now with charger connected, would show 80% charge. If I remove the battery for a minute and put it back on then OEM battery would show 100% charge and the extended battery would show 90%.
I've tried charging the extended battery with the phone off for 18 hrs but the light never turned green.
Can some one help me with this my batteries are also draining very fast compared to my old prophet by 8 hrs of regular usage I am down to 10% (with backlight on minimum, and 3G turned off) . Could some one gimme the tips to get over the charging issue and conserve battery power? Thanks in advance
If your extended life battery is draining in 8 hours, then you have either some software going nuts and hogging the CPU 100% of the time, or you have faulty hardware.
I had a similar issue, and after weeks of testing, they took the phone back and replaced every PCB inside the unit. Problem was solved, and now I get 1-2 days off the stock OEM battery with average usage.
Oh..ho.. That's trouble
Thanks for the feedback.. But I am in India and got this phone from UK... What do I DO...
i use these softwares, do you see any Villains in them ??

thanks..
It must be a battery defect. Try putting new battery and see what happen.
Some new ROM Makers have problems with the ROM Kitchens so better to try new ROM or try an older version from the Legend ROM Makers

Umm..
Lemme wait for Schaps new one.... Hopefully I could get this sorted out??

Battery drain WM6.1 while PDA is off.

Hi All,
Ever since i've upgraded to WM6.1 on my HX4700 I get a battery drain while PDA is off. Charged the battery to 100% and during the night (~11 hours) the battery has only 70% charge left. With WM2003SE it would be ~99% or so.
Does anybody know if this is normal for WM6.1 or that my battery is dying? Battery is about 2 to 3 years old.
GPS, WiFI, BT all is off.
Any way of measuring if the batt still OK? When idle i have about 200mA drain.
Any good replacement batteries available, price/quality ?
Thanks in advance!
I'd say your batter is on the way out, there should be practically zero [less than 1% of total capacity per day] drain at room tempreture and even less the colder it gets.
Getting 2-3 years out of a battery is pretty good.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium_Ion_Battery#Guidelines_for_prolonging_Li-ion_battery_life
you should have a look on the processes runing in Background. Per example SK-Tools or the integrated Taskmanager can show you how much cpu-usage a process causes. It should be around 0-2% when no program is started in Background. If there is a higher cpu-usage something is wrong. Perhaps some Software that doesn´t fit to WM6.1
I had a Ipaq H6340 and after 5years of daily usage the battery was still able to hold on for 5days(with some usage). So the HP batterys are not as bad as many other batterys put in some devices.

Try to recalibrate your battery, you can found it in the Wiki, I have my original battery since Aug 05 and with an extensive use (WI-FI, bluetooth, a lot of calls and internet) it last for 28hours form 100% till recharge
Hope this helps
Cheers

I come from a different device camp (Loox) but you may be experiencing the same issue that our community has with the WM5, WM6 and WM6.1 (much the same MS code as your HP) ? The culprit is probably ActiveSync on the PPC. It seems to come alive for notifications or "silent" alarms/tasks or appointments set by the Calendar application. It then leaves the device on for as long as the time before switch off on battery power is reached! I agree that soemthing like SK-Tools should detect it, but you have to be around to see it. It is amazing how much power is taken by these events.
Worth checking? The Loox solution was to create a dummy or Fake server in ActiveSync and make sure it only ever wakes under manual control not automatically and to make the on time with no activity on battery very short.
You might also like to try the freeware acbPowerMeter application? A search on this site or Google will find it. It shows you current consumption in any PPC device when on battery. It is quite revealing and you can find out just what current is taken by each setting (e.g. scrren brightness) and application. I have had it installed on 3 generations of PDAs including an old HP Jornada.
Thanks for the replies!

Wondering if the batt is bad as yesterday it ran about 7 hours from 100% to 2%, pda was on and idle.
y17dt
CPU usage is only 0-2% or so when idle. Don't have much running in the background. Notestoday and Wisbar Advance 3.
orb3000
I did a recharge last night after letting it drain to 2%. So let's see if that did the recalibration. Read on other topics that indeed after installing WM6.1 it's best to drain the bad and recharge as it needs to calibrate again.
fingerstoo
When the PDA is on and idle, it consumes about 180mA with now and again a peak around 400mA, so nothing big.
Will check the activesync out as maybe that is what is activated when PDA is off. Yet via SK tools I set AS auto connect to OFF.
Thanks!

unless you have the mogul/titan
Hi,
Seems to be fixed now that I drained the batt to 2% and recharged it to 100%.
Overnight the drain was 1% only

Battery Problem

Hi. I have a Voda branded TP2.
I have installed the 1% battery indicator and have realised that the battery is dropping at an alarming rate. In two hours without any data activity, just two calls of 5 mins each and the battery has already reached 74%. The number drops in front of my eyes. Quite scary actually.
Anybody else faced a similar porblem?
2 things I can advice you (as a TP2 beginner)
-First times: charge up to 12 hours non-stop even when light is green (has nothing to do with phone but with the chemical proces inyour battery) this will prolong lifetime
-This TP2 WWE ROM has a lot (and I mean A LOT!) of background running stuff compared to other WM 6.1 - ROMS. So you thing it is not using any current but it is!
Maybe you could install advance task manager and check out all running programs and processes ...
hope this helps ...
greetz,
Kjoere
Thanks. I have done the 12 hours charging many times - about 6-7 times. Will try the advanced task manager.
Anybody else with a battery problem?
Any application / software is known to be a battery drainer?
Thanks
Had a strange one last night. Went to be, put the phone on charge (was about 16% iirc), and the orange light came on to say it was charging. Then, this morning at about 3am, I hear the phone making bleeps. Check it out, and it's at 5%, with orange light flashing. Take out charger, put it back in, and it starts charging. I went out afterwards, came back about 4.30, and it says it was about 80% complete. Go sleep, wake up about 7.30am, and it's fully charged (green light). Then, I unplug charger, turn on, and it says 96%, and I notice it dropping the amount of charge in front of me (like OP's notice), until it got to about 91%.
Now, about 5 hours later, it reckons the charge is 74%. So dunno why it went down so quickly, and why it didn't actually charge... But will keep my eye on it and see how it goes...
data connection
Another way 2 keep your eye on it: check data connection (start>settings>connections>comm manager) a lot of stuff open this connection which uses power. if it turns on without you knowing .... (especially auto-update plugins (weather?)), sometimes AS also ...

For indo, it says here (amongst others)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=519673
that it isn't a good idea to do "old style battery cycling"
I really don't know what to think of LiPo battery management, so many different theories.
Also, something that annoys me is that I fully charge the TP2 overnight, in the morning the lights green. If I simply unlug charger and plug in back in it well go back orange and stay orange for a good half hour... and I can start again a few times...
To be honest, I had to hard reset my device couple of times and haven't had time to 'fully' recharge it after the resets.
I guess I will give it a few days of full charging and then check on the battery.
But, I am not joking when the 1% battery meter just drops numbers faster than a meter at the gas station.

I had this problem when I have push mail turn on. If you disable push mail and set it to receive like every 15 mins, it save the power a lot.
Try the advance config to auto disconnect every x mins, this will helps as well.
Hi HaveryR and others,
yep your source isn't to bad. Beginning with full charges (6 to 12 hrs instead of 3 like the manual says) isn't about the old charge-memory story (because Lithium-Ion battery don't work this way, only the nickel-cadmium and nimH do) but about fully charging cells.
I mean the best way to look upon this is like a pile of bricks on top of each other (all different cells if you wish). So the first time it is important to give all the bricks enough time to charge - so even when it says 100% it does not mean that it has (you're indicator is a feedback of a reading by your cpu). So not all the bricks (let's say) have the same quality (yesyes even in this day and age of hight teck).
So you can also take this parallel to discharging: if you discharge fully, you risk that one of these bricks get busted and so will NEVER recover.
So i agree on this with your source a LiOn batter is bettery served with frequent partial charging and must NEVER be drained completely
Greetz,
Kjoere
Guys,
I put the TP2 on for charging the whole night (about 9 hours). In the morning the LED was green and the battery meter said 100%. I took the charger off from the handset and re-inserted the tip in. Guess what? 95%.
AM not sure if it is a battery problem or handset problem?
Its come down to 73% with just one phone call of 5 mins. Mail is on, but its on manual and havent pulled anything since morning.
Any idea?

No Battery Consumption - Several ROMs tried

Hi
after a connection via activesync yesterday I realized the battery power jumped to 100% and remained. After CID Unlocking and trying some WM6 Roms here the problem is still there. The Device is running perfectly but there seems to be no obvious power draining as the battery display is stuck at 100%..
Funny thing is when I turn it off and charge it ,then after 2 or 3 secs the green LED appears?? I'm afraid it will discharge completely without being able to charge again.
Anyone experienced the same? I have no idea, driver problem seems unlikely to me as it won't charge in Off-Mode..
Thank you
Problem solved itself. Battery at 98% after 14 hours...
