S620 clearing memory?

I bought a S620 on Ebay and it arrived yesterday with some info still on it and I want to reset the phone.
I have read the online user guide and it says to go into 'Expert' and there should be a 'Clear Storage' icon, that icon is missing. Is there a hidden security measure that will bring that icon back.
Is there any other way to clear all the storage, I am very new to this phone so its all a bit new to me and I hope someone can help.
Thanks for your time in advance
you need to check if rom version is original or no,i think that have to be wm6.0, if you flash you s620 with kavana-ricky rom version wm6.1, that you can find in this forum with all instruccion you will clean all your s620(excalibur)
good luck
ps. when i coming to this site i had to read a lot, but you will find a lot of people that will help you and other that no it is normal in this site, go ahead

It does not seem to have an accessories icon either so that form of hard reset is not possible either, I think it was set up to a certain corporate program and I can't seem to get it back to normal

Is something wrong with my 8525?

Hi!
I have a problem I dont know if its hardware or software related!
I hope you can perhaps help me find the answer!
I have now stock WM6 firmware from htc and using the 1.47 radio...
the issue is the following....everything is fine and at one point I cant press on the buttons anymore...for example i go to settings and I change something like a ring tone then I try to press on ok and nothing happens, it remains in the same screen! but if I hold power the popup does appear..."would you like to shut it down"?...the only thing is, i cant switch between yes and no but if i press on ok it does shut it down..so it seems the gui doesn't respond anymore visually but it still works...can please someone help me diagnose the problem to see if its software or hardware related? I did try to flash to different roms but this issue occurs with other roms as well...
Thanks!
you've got an 8525 have you tried the ATT ROM and if you are happy with your 1.47 radio you can flash a stripped one from my folder. on 4 shared/mediafire. And then let us know,... what other roms have you tried.
Can you tap the screen and make it work?

You can check for bad blocks. Check wiki, there is some information on that in there. I till now never understood how to do it, so I am not of big help there.
Does sound like bad blocks but you need to remember that some carriers "brand" their handsets with a couple of bad blocks. These are unfixable but don't cause problems.
You will also have to downgrade your SPL to , I believe 1.10 or it won't fix anything but you can leave it Hard SPLed while you check for bad blocks.
Just untick activesync setting "allow usb connections", put Hermes into bootloader and connect by usb. Go into MTTY and select, under port, usb.
Hit enter and you should see a prompt. CMD or USB, can't remember what but when you see it type in "info 8" and hit enter. It will show you all your blocks and tell you about any Bad blocks. They will probably come up "reversed", this is OK.
You can do this with your normal SPL. Don't downgrade until you know you need to.
If you have any bad blocks type "task 2a" to fix the bad blocks. If it can't fix them then they are probably the carrier branded blocks previously mentioned.
Remember to put Hard SPL back on your Hermes...
Cheers...

First I would say bad idea blaming your wife in print. That only spells trouble for you later.
I would say take the SD card out, place a CDMA-based ROM on it, put it back in, go into bootloader, and reflash from the card. NRG doesn't cook radio's into his ROMS so you should be good with just an OS flash.
And just in case you don't know how to flash from SD.
1. Unplug USB cable (not necessary, but KISS)
2. With the phone off, press and hold the vol down rocker then press the power button
3. You'll see the rainbow boot-up, then from there just follow the commands on the screen.
4. After is says Upgrade complete (or something similar, it'll be white text in a blue box in the middle of the screen), press the reset button.
Voila.
Hope this helps.

I'm wondering just what excatly she was doing to distract you so much that you would flash a GSM ROM on your CDMA device.....
Just follow the instructions in the second post. Next time try to use a proper thread title. "Big Mistake!!! Help" Really doesn't help you any faster!
I could make a small joke about your post but I'm not gonna... ....today....
This thread will probably be closed very soon. You better search before blaming your wife next time

You are lucky you only temporarily lost the phone. Other people have worse experiences.
That aside it is easy to fix as mentioned above just put the cdma rom nbh file on the root of sd card and make sure it is called RHODIMG.nbh and then enter into boot loader. The rom will install automatically and you will have your phone restored

Well, I agree with this causing problems... I was so desperate I wasn't thinking!!! BIGGER MISTAKE!!!
Regarding your instructions it was just perfect, I actually struggled about 3 more hours and none of the ROMs I had/downloaded were working, I thought I really screwed bad... after some more search I found what was happening! The MicroSD card that came with the phone is formated FAT and not FAT32, therefore everytime I was trying it wasn't finding the ROM...
Anyway, all is working now, thanks a lot for the quick response yesterday!
Guys, you're so funny, and helpful too!
I better don't go into details of what she was doing...
I'll do my homework next time, tks for all help!

Black screen of death

Upon every reboot I get the following error message:
Your device is unable to boot because either you have turned off the device incorrectly or tried to install an application from untrusted source... ... ...
It goes on to say press the UP VOL button to hard reset or any other button to continue.
I press any other button and it proceeds to boot correctly.
Any way to disable the message?
VZW TP2 - Stock 6.5 ROM
EDIT / UPDATE: If don't touch anything when it is on this screen it will eventually continue to boot normally... so again I would just like to disable this message if at all possible.
Anybody???
Or maybe an idea of where to look for log files so I can tell what specifically is causing it?
I've had the same message at least twice now. Almost had a heart attack the first time. Mine also rebooted fine after a minute or so. Not sure what caused this.
For me this happens everytime I reboot.
I did a hard reset and after installing and configuring everything, it is happening again.
It isn't affecting anything, just annoying.
Anybody?
Having this screen come up after every reboot is really annoying.
Surely somebody has had this happen before..
after you hard reset did you reinstall all your applications again... is that what you mean by configured it? If so it's likely one of your programs that's causing it. If you didn't install anything and it still pooched out like that then, well I'm stumped!
It started happening after I installed everything, but everything works on it.
There has to be some type of log file somewhere that will tell me what is causing it
You may just want to go and take the time to install a program and then see if it happens... when you get to the one that you know causes it.. uninstall it and see if the issue is still there. If not then carry on with installing all your other aps you have left doing the same thing to see if any of them cause the issue. It may take some time to do but it cant take along longer then waiting around for someone to chime in on some advice for you. Gotta do what you gotta do right?

Does anybody have 47.1.A.16.20 UK cusom?

Hey all
I very recently made the mistake of upgrading my phone, not realising that it was a complete overhaul from 8.0 to 9.0. I absolutely hate it. There are a dozen downsides and, as far as I have noticed, not a single benefit to this upgrade. I have gotten frustrated many times already due to the stupid little changes and have spent a good portion of my day attempting to figure out how to reverse it.
Now I'm not that tech-savvy, and the only method to get back the phone I knew and loved is to 'flash' it (?) using a software which I have acquired. I must also apparently make sure to back up my data because downgrading in this manner apparently does not ensure any of your personal data is protected.
So my question here is twofold:
1. Does anybody have the UK version for the latest 47.1.A.16.20 firmware as an appropriate file (FTF?) for me to get back the phone I paid for as opposed to this crap?
2. What would be an appropriate method of backing up my phone such that I can recover it all post-flash with all of my settings and user data intact?
Thank you all so very much for your help!

Just downgrade it yourself, you won't damage the phone or change your warranty status.
Here is a copy of 47.1.A.16.20, It's not the UK version, but that makes no difference
Download Newflasher and put it in the same folder as the firmware you downloaded
Delete persist*.sin to avoid losing android attest key.
Turn phone off completely. Then start newflasher.exe and follow instrctions. Plug the phone into the pc whilst holding volume up(+), then no & no in the newfalsher dialog box, then you should be away.
You might need a copy of the Sony driver
I would make a backup with Xperia transfer before you do anything, you can't keep your data when you downgrade, so this would be the easiest way of keeping the important stuff. Back up onto your sdcard, then restore once the flash has completed.

Hi Steve, I accidentally installed the update today and I wish to revert too. Apparently the Xperia XZ1c has DRM keys for things like the camera and video processing which if custom firmware is flashed will be lost. Is this an issue when flashing an older version of a stock xperia rom like you are suggesting? Thanks

No unlocking the bootloader is an entirely seperate procces and can't be done accidently flashing firmwares. You have to get an unlock code from Sony and do some ADB magic.
There is another tools called Flashtool, that does the same thing as Newflasher, but has the power to delete your DRM, if driven improperly, so I don't recomend that.
Newflasher is safe to use and won't damage your TA partition (DRM keys), just note the persistxx.sin removal, that stops damage to one of the partitions.
You can't keep you data when retro-grading, you must wipe the phone to factory, there isn't any other way.

Hey PCB! Could you tell me more about all those downsides? I'd like to know more before/if I (ever) decide to upgrade.
I know that clock on the left-hand side would irritate me. Also, volume buttons defaulting to media is something I don't like.
But you mentioned "a dozen" so I'm curious.

Hey man! I wrote up a few reasons on a Reddit post earlier so I'm just going to paste that if that's okay!
Volume button now always does media volume instead of a sliding scale for normal stuff ie ringtone
Lots of irritatingly unnecessary changes such as the time now being in the top right so my muscle memory has me checking the time and I'm momentarily confused.
They've changed the overall aesthetic to be more Apple-y resulting in a really weird look, making the text in most places look larger than usual (especially the notifications).
The pull-down-from-the-top menu now shows two rows of enlarged buttons instead of three like before.
The WiFi and Bluetooth drop down menus have gone, so now if you want to quickly switch between two networks instead of being able to do it all in one screen you have to go to the settings page for WiFi and Bluetooth.
(this one is very minor) the colour of the keyboard has gone from black and orange (which I liked) to black and blue.
I know it sounds like I'm being awfully nitpicky but honestly the few bits of functionality that were removed were things I relied on a lot; I just don't appreciate such ****ty unnecessary changes for no apparent reason.
As far as I can see, there are absolutely no improvements or upgrades or anything at all that I can point to and go "yeah that's worth it."
I've been using this update for only a little while and I'm sure that there are other things which'll pop out at me over time as well!
Hope this helps mate

These two are absolutely unacceptable. An update should never remove features or make previous things harder to do, this update is an absolute joke. Now once again I have to go through the arduous process of factory resetting my phone to downgrade simply because Sony couldn't put out a competent update to save their lives.
Thanks mate! I agree with you 100%. The phone is "perfect" just the way it is and some changes, that Google and Sony made, should totally have been optional. I would upgrade it just for curiosity.... but I don't wanna regret it later.
Cheers!
Are we talking about toggles? You do know that you can add a third row? For WiFi and Bluetooth just do the long press and go to settings.
I've just updated and am I wrong or the recent app switcher and the navigation bar are still the same and not the Pie version?

Hi, me again
I tried flashing the phone today with newflasher but to no avail. I downloaded those xperia drivers, added them using device manager, and the hardware wizard gave the following message
"The following hardware was installed:
Sony sa0117 ADB Interface Driver
The software for this device is now installed but may not work correctly.
This device cannot start (Code 10)"
I tried flashing anyway after the phone had been put into debug mode but newflasher simply prompts whether or not I need GordonGate flash driver. If I type "n" to skip, it throws the error
"No usb device with vid:0x0fce pid:0xb00b !"

If you're using Windows 10 it would have completly failed to install your driver and didn't bother telling you. Restart Windows 10 in safe mode and look for 'driver signing disabled', then try again.
Edit: or click 'Yes' to first question in Newflasher and it will prodice a zip file of the drivers you need, then apply as above.
