playing m4a media files

I recently had a windows mobile 5 phone with a default tuma 1.3 installation, which happily played m4a music files on windows media player.
I now have the same phone running a standard orange uk installation of mobile 2003, running media player 10, but it no longer plays these files.
Does anyone know why? If so does anyone know how i can play these files again on 2003?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
m4a is actually AAC encoded audio. Look for a player that supports AAC format.
pocket music or pocket player can play it,try it
or just install the cab I posted a few times already
Mi_MediaSupportv2.CAB
so that WMP10 can play it as well... it's mono only though..

TCPMP Codecs

I have downloaded TCPMP and I can only watch some files, the software tells me windows media audio and video are not supported. I am guessing I have to download some codecs but I am unable to find any. Is this true and if so does anyone know where to find these codecs and how to install (I am assuming install is easy)
codec
hi,
depending on the type of movie you you can use different codec's but i all way download mp4 or make movie fram dvd in mp4 format, as player i use tcpmp an the aac codec an that works like a charm!

2 questions.
1. Which media player are you using? (ex: Windows Media Player, TCPMP, Coreplayer. etc...)
2. What type of file are you trying to play? ( ex: .Divx , .WMV, .AVI, .MP4)
im using windows media player, been trying to view from youtube.

That's your problem. Windows Media Player doesn't support YouTube videos. You'll need another streaming media player such as: TCPMP (works great), CorePlayer, or HTC Streaming Media Player. These can be found by "Googling" or using the search feature in the forum.
thank u for ur help

Coreplayer audio codec

i copyed an xvid movie on my HD and tryed to play it with coreplayer 1.3
unfortunately it doesn't play the sound and gave me an error message related to lack of ac3 audio codec (the movie has ac3 6 channels audio)
to my totally surprise tcpmp 0.72RC1 plays the sound with no problem, but, ofcourse, the video is bad
so, i am wondering if there are some codecs for coreplayer that i can download or if there is a way to add codecs from tcpmp to coreplayer
thank you!
nobody?
no hints?
Hi
Looking at this they are having licensing issues with the AC3 plugin.

why not just convert the file to mp4?

[Q] no audio on video recordings when played with Windows Media Player 10

Hi All
Got a brand new laptop with the latest version of Windows 7 and Windows Media Player but when I transfer my videos from Desire to laptop, they play without audio in Media Player. However, audio is present using VLC. Recorded as MP4 at 720
Any idea how to fix?
EDIT
Here is the answer http://androinica.com/2010/06/09/do...er-with-no-sound-you-probably-need-quicktime/
Codec missing unless Quicktime installed
Damn - still doesn't work!
It is a codec issue as I had to get the right codec for it to work but can't remember which one off the top of my head...I'll have a dig about for you
