WM 6.1 Original Rom - Or near to it wanted... - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Hi guys,
Sorry for posting this, and being a complete n00b, but i've recently tried two roms, and one i've been having problems where the rom uses too much memory and stops everything else running, and another which although is basic, doesn't seem to want to actually work properly.
The ones i've tried are:
Plain Jayne version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=461490
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=394417
The latter one being the closest "theme/rom" layout as what I had originally, however I didn't do the original upgrade of the ROM so don't have what it was put on.
So what I was wondering if its possible to just get the basic rom for my Hermes?
Or even something which is basic to use, no fancy gimmicks, as much as I love the roms i've used.
The one i'm looking at at the minute is this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=316726
Just wondering also what WWE stands for?
Thank you,

WWE
I believe it stands for World Wide English.

Excellent, thank you!
Sort of figured it would stand for something along those lines, but thats great for clearing that up!
Only looking now for just a plain rom for my phone now, since it hard resets everytime it needs soft resetting, even switching it off does this.
I've tried HTC's website, but they've got nothing on there for the Hermes, which is a shame.
Hope someone can help.

If you're after a plain WM6.1 ROM you can't go wrong with using CRC 13.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=387990
A basic ROM that is as stable as you can imagine - without TouchFLO etc. but can be extended using his device update service. I use it on my Hermes (but my current phone is the blackstone).

Thanks for your help there afr33s! Will download later, as got to run to work now, shame really, as it means i've no music etc for going to work and then coming home.
Ah well.
One thing, checking the screenshots of it, is there any sort of function like the below:
{

}
Thanks,

Sorry, i'm meaning only a few of those, ie the first screenshot, really.
Not fussed on anything else.

Would just like to thank afr33s for his reply.
I loaded the suggested rom, and have had no problems now for about 48hours.
Its been called on, i've loaded things on which I had on my original install, and generally loving it!
Thank you so much for your time, and I'm keeping that rom handy on my PC!
Looking forward to getting my staff phone now, just a shame I can't play around with it like that. Methinks it'll be a Blackberry or another HTC, but will definately need the QWERTY keyboard!

Download HTC home and the Diamond theme from the device update app. to get something like the (huge) screenshots you posted.

Yeah, I've both installed.
The screenshots were part of another thread, I had only clicked for the first screenshot, but it seems its all one image.
Anyway, i'm still happy with the phone, so thought i'd express my appreciation to you.
Thanks once again for your help!

I like the look of this!

Hi all!
I have FLASHED my device like 3 times in one week. I am using Windows Mobile VI - BLACK EDITION v1.2 and I think that ROM is great in all aspects.
Now I stumbled upon this http://msmobiles.com/news.php/6155.html I know that this article has a link to the ROM upgrade but I was unable to confirm that pictures in the article = the ROM that they point too?
I really like the look of the cosmetics of this version. Is this ROM available here somewhere? The curved lines on the START button and black shiny effects are really nice. I want it!

Do I need an extended ROM that adds these nice cosmetic features? I try my best to research before asking. Thanks in advance!
None of that really has anything to do with the ROM it looks like Wisbar Advanced using a Vista skin or something which is a addon. I'm sure others probably recongize it but my guess would be Wisbar Advanced is what it is..
Ahhh if you read the topic you linked
Generally following applications tested and working: TomTom, Wisbar, Adobe Reader. Buetooth seems to work better - for example stereo Bluetooth headset R35 I-Clip now correctly pauses/plays.

He has Wisbar installed and like I said it looks like the Vista skin.
i would say that looks like a WAD skin to me... not a special rom, wad can be found @ http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/ and there are skins... good luck with it though.. i have tried it several times and always had problems, but other people seem to like it

Thanks guys! Now I can stop scratching my head over this issue.
All,
I can confirm that this is not the rom... These are third party applications.
Ilauncher
Wisebar Advance 2
Wisbar Advance Lite Skin
and a hour or so on the configuration...
D
Just FYI - they were referring to the XDA Live ROM in that post.
Stay away from Wisbar, nice looking but very very bugridden and not working nice on TyTns. Ilauncher is working ok as long as you donĀ“t have a lot of shortcuts to apps on the mermorycard, with that it hangs sometimes waking up from standby
Yep, I was running that exact same theme with Wisbar v2 but it was predictably buggy on my phone as well. If you need a similiar app, as mentioned try Ilauncher instead.
I always had issues with WA/WAD on WM5. I thought I'd give it a try after i upgraded to a WM6 ROM, and WA has been running just fine. WAD still had issues, but I haven't found any themes that I really like anymore than a nice clean PocketBreeze interface.
Anyway, that's my anecdote. If you like the look of that screenshot, go get the trial and see if you can find the theme.

Ok...What's the MAJOR deal between these WM6 Rom's

I have read every wiki. I have read hundreds of pages of threads. I see superficial differences and features. I see some incompatibilities with programs depending on ROMs. Some variations in speed and memory as well. What I want to know is what are the MAJOR differences between the ROM's? I must have one that works with wifi and bbconnect. I have the 8525 which has been flashed with HardSPL and the latest radio from Mrvanx. I have not yet decided on a WM6 though. jj skipped town and custel seems to have one close to his but LVSW seems popular as well. This is a pickle.
Most important feature: Stability
read the wiki. someone started a project to do what your looking for and posted it on the wiki. if you cant find it, search for a thread that looks JUST (hint ) like yours, and the link is in his sig.
A link to that particular thread/wiki if possible. Also, is "Black" the only ROM having these wi-fi problems?
whew.. 2 whole mins of searching

I haven't had time. It just happens, not really controlable. It came from either spl or radio flashing, os flashes won't cause it to happen.
IMO the wiki is worthless when you start off. Even searching the wiki requires a separate wiki to tell you how to do it right. Everyone tells you to go RTFW but in the beginning, those comparison charts with endless version numbers mean nothing. Also, the builds are constantly changing with addons, tweaks and fixes that it's impossible to reflect that properly in the wiki anyway.
Having said that, I think the only way to find out what's best for you is to install all the ones you are thinking about and try them out for a couple of days. That's what i did and you get a feel for what each developer is trying to do. I also think it's a personal thing, as each build is slightly different in the way they implement features. Like it has been said before, this forum requires some investment in time. Oh yeah, and then wiki starts to make more sense too.
I have personally tried almost all of the builds and currently running CUSTEL 2.5. I like what I'm seeing so far and with the exception of a few minor problems, I'm not having much trouble. I'll still hold off judgement until I have had a chance to try it for a longer period. Before that I was running LVSW dev variant released by Sleuth and it was really rock solid stable for me. With regards to Black releases, 3.0/3.0.1 was a nightmare compared to Black 2.5. I have not tried the newer versions of the other builds yet. Good luck.
I'm using the latest LVSW, and it's the best one I've used so far. If I change it soon, it will be to Sleuth's variant of LSVW. Custel's are good too.
I had Black 3.0.1, and it worked fine, no bluetooth issues or any other majors, but I think LVSW is more stable.

I THINK I BROKE MY ORBIT! Major Problem with my xda orbit (running b&b v4.0 touch)

I THINK I BROKE MY ORBIT! Major Problem with my xda orbit (running b&b v4.0 touch)
Hey guys (especially Tom)!
I have been very very happy with the mentioned ROM for the best part of 3 Months. No faults, very speedy and it looks cool!
However, today my battery fell out (I've lost the back cover) whilst the device was on. After reinserting it and powering back on, the device seems to hang on the screen with the windows logo on. It has been like that for 2 hours and I don't know what to do. Whilst in this state, the power button does not respond and the only option is to take out the battery to actually turn off the device, or insert the stylus into the hole on the left of the orbit. Neither of these options actually do anything....it just boots and stops at the windows mobile screen.
Obviously, I wasn't prepared for this to happed and so I don't have anything backed up...which is why I really do not want to hard reset.
Is there anybody who can help me out there?
THANKS GUYS
P.S. I have attached a picture of the screen at that point which it hangs.

oh....Sorry.Just see your thread now.I have update new version rom v4.3
I think,maybe u try update v4.3 ???
For me it better v4.0
If have else problem . PM to me .
Cheers..!
I've got the same problem with B&B4.1
If we can get a green Activesync you can just turn on your pda holding the speaker button (get the boolander mode) and the run the upls and the new ROM, or if you cannot the only way is to run the original HTC ROM from the bolander modality.
Soory but i think you'll lose all your data
sorry
you can also try to hard reset your device (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Artemis_Resets)
important: hard resetting will erase all data on the device (not on storage card). it sets your device to the point right after you flashed the rom.
but i like tom's advice more...reflash to v4.3. it also erases data, but you get a nice new rom
well guys!
thanks for all the helpful comments. i had a gut feeling that i had really screwed up my phone hours before i posted on here. and i knew that i was going to loose my data. thankfully, most of my stuff is on storage card and i backed up my contacts before i upgraded to bb v4.0
so anyway, i took the plunge and thought ok...well since i was going to have to hard reset which would erase everything anways, i thought i might as well upgrade to tom's latest offering (not that there was any need to...i absolutely loved v4.0!!).
two words.... ITS QUICK!! seriously, i noticed immediately the speed increase from before (although i haven't had a chance to put on all of my progs just yet like tomtom, resco explorer etc). the camera is also very very quick compared to v4.0 (you had to wait 5 seconds after pressing the shoot button).the touch flo cube runs a lot smoother now and i like the nice fade in/out and also the fact that you swipe your finger from top to bottom to initiate it as opposed to having a hard button assigned...its a nice "touch"
i cannot thank tom enough for this amazing ROM.
tom, if you're reading this can you please answer the following questions?
>the earth background in the comms manager...anyway of changing this?
>what does black bars do?
>and rom setting
>why does HTC action screen go away so quickly?
Apart from that....i am very impressed.
THANKS AGAIN TOM...YOU ARE A F*CKING LEGEND

The WM 6.1 look without the ROM. (For simple people)

Hello everyone,
I have been experimenting with the WM 6.1 ROM's, like a lot of you, but I have not been completely satisfied with any yet. I am no developer or anything of that such.
This post is for those of you who just want to change your homescreen look and a few minor things, to get rid of that WM 6 look.
I have attached a few .CAB files as well as a black theme.
You will have to extract the HTC_New_default.tsk file to your WM devices "Windows" folder. It will then show up on your themes as HTC default.
These files may have been posted in another thread, but I am starting this thread just to be simple. Feel free to add your HTC .CAB's as well.

nice dude!! simple enough
Awesome bro.
Nice Try. At least all those people with no satisfying result or are afraid of upgrading can take help from this work of yours to taste the new interface including the Home Screen Plug-in
Keep the good work up
One question. Is this extract for 3g dialor also make 2g dialor to 3g dialor assuming I have activated the 3g in Advance Configuration Tool
interesting idea for those that "arent happy" with 6.1 or cant get it to work.
You should re-title it though to "I cant believe its not 6.1"
I'm digging it. I also feel the same way... most 6.1 roms are fast right after install but after really using the phone for a week it turns into a turd pretty quick, especialy if you install a lot of apps.
Been using original HTC 6.0 WWE rom without issues for quite some time. I try about every new rom when they come out but I always go back to this one for reliability.
BTW: What com manager you using? Thanks!! GOOD WORK!
Here is the boot screen that I use. Makes it feel more like 6.1 Copy to windows folder on device. Overwrite the old one.
-Enjoy

you'd better make your own "welcome screen" so you can add your own touch in it as a part of the customization you do after flashing a new ROM but it case you like the pre defined ones, here is one from PDA-Corner that I also like.
I hope I'm not breaking the law od copyrights by posting this (please tell me if I do)

Hello,
I have setup the black diapad but I don't have the screen than you show.
Il have the usual screen.
I have an htc touch cruise (p3650) in Wm 6 Pro
Thanks
Looks like WM 6.1.
Hey guys,
Sorry I did not reply to any of the reply's.
Was not aware there were more posts on my topic.
If anyone needs any of the files, let me know.
Ill create a link for them.
Thanks
Thnks for posting the files. They will be usefull even thought I have flashed my device several times.

Mobile Webbs

I've converted a PC screen saver I wrote to the HD. It should actually work on any device, though... It's called MobileWebbs, and it is a flowing design of lines that seem to curve around each other, although they are all actually straight. I've attached a zip file with the executable, the Formlib.dll and the Basic4PPC source code that makes it work. I've also included some screen shots, but I had to use a timer to get them, and it seems its difficult to get a snapshot of a design as it completes before the next one starts, but you can get the gist.
Notes:
1) To end the program, just tap the screen anywhere and it will stop.
2) If you use a program like Gyrator2 to auto change the orientation of the screen, don't change the orientation once MobileWebbs is running. This causes it to freak out. You can start MobileWebbs in any orientation you wish, just don't change it once it starts running.

Edit: 1/5/09 - Added cab file -- sorry everyone, the program that made the cab file didn't allow much flexability such as ability to install to storage card, or program icons, or even a proper program name, but it's still exciting to watch it do it's magic!!!

YES IT DOES!!! I still have a polaris that I'll use for 3d tethering, since I live in the US, and 3g doesn't work on hd's. But yet, I have one, and really like it. A lot!!!
Hey, you should try my MobileWebbs.. it's mesmirizing! And everyone you show it to will be in awe. Just don't change the orientation, tho.. It doesn't like that. But you can start it any way you like, just don't change it once it's running.
Later friend...

Will do. By the way, did you see my graphics improvement thread in Blackstone development thread? I'm trying to get a similar project running as we did with the P3D team, but for the Blackstone. B3D, lol.

No, I didn't notice. But I will. I'm shutting down for the day now. I have to drive 800 miles to get back home and will take a peek sunday night. I was actually quite impressed with the speed of the graphics thus far. Gyrator2 takes only a moment to redraw after re-orientating, and all in all, the device seems quite faster. I'll be waiting to see what you can improve
btw... if you get a sec, would you make a cab for MobileWebbs? That stuff seems to be second nature for you, and it'd take me an hour or two to get it figured out. Well, gotta run. Hope you're doing well
Jesse
I'll have a look once I get home. Good to see some Polaris users coming to the HD.
Sorry everyone, I forgot to upload the zip file. It's been uploaded in the first post
Thanx for MobileWebbs! Works great!
moved thread into applications
Hello all, as promised, but a bit late I admit, I've uploaded a .cab file for MobileWebbs in the first post. I hope everyone enjoys it, I get all kinds of oooh's and aaah's when I show it off on my HD
Cheers! --Jesse
Nicely done SomethingWicked, looks great on my HD! Thanks!
