X1 Deskstand (DIY 1.0) - XPERIA X1 Accessories

I saw a very interesting topic and I trans. it here.
We used a geniue desk stand by Sony Ericsson, model appears to be CDS-71, brought it online, cheap stuff.
The most important things to do is add a small MiniUSB port on the side of black plastic opponent. Pretty simple, huh ? (refer to the pics, please)
In my opinion, my stand is way much better than those 3rd party's product, and kept the original Sony Ericsson style.
And please choose the real good USB cables and not too long, otherwise it will weaken the signal.
Here comes the pictures!

thanks 'ewurk' from sebbs.it168.com for his craftmanship!

That's amazing! Would you be up for me buying one from you? If so PM me how much, and I'll paypal it to you.

Was there a reason you chose to go portrait? It seems harder to plug the X1 in that way

Would like to make one myself but it's hard to find CDS-71 in the states....

how much u sell for

i looked in ebay for this CDS 71 and did not find any. the same for the official SE site

I think Lucif3r was simply quoting another poster from another forum

looks awesome but just wondering if you could have got a 90 degree mini-usb connector to divert the cable to the base of stand?

*Very* nice. Can you give details on where you purchased the stand from? Also, where did you get the USB cable? It has a nice long end on it, perfect for this.

Wow, so many replies....
Thanks for replying. I am in China, and these deskstand is made by a Chinese. It's pretty easy to buy CDS 71 stand in china. So if anyone really want this, maybe I can talk to the guy who made it.
This stand is so handy and I used it for a while. and we are planning V2.0 of this stand, it will be more improvement.

Well, I found some CDS 71 stands. Email me to [email protected] if you interested. send your location infomation along with the email so I can check the postage. Maybe the shipping charge is more than the stand!
I'm working on a final version of this stand. I hope it could be standing vertical and horizontal. Seeing X1 laid the the desk horizontally with keyboard open, should be nice.

Hello, guys!
my suggestion is DO NOT BUY IT FROM ME because the shipping charge is tooooooooo expensive. the stand is cheap, just 3-4 bucks, but I have to pay around $40 for shipping!
That's insane.... So i am so sorry about all this. Hope you guys good luck for find some CDS 71.....
Damn post office.....

nice - looks pretty good ;-)
I guess it's not a big problem to buy the original 'CDS-71' and adding such an USB-Cable manually - probably I'll build one in the near future
Kind Regards

Are you sure the CDS-71 was used - this looks very much like the CDS-25 which you appear to only get in the UK (and of course, it has the SE Fastport) - not cheap though, approx $32 US (http://cgi.ebay.com/SONY-ERICSSON-D...3.l1177&_trkparms=240:1318|301:1|293:1|294:50)

Carphonewarehouse UK have these in stock (CDS-75) at most of theire stores and the website www.carphonewarehouse.com.
Not sure on the price though as it keeps changing.

Just looked by Ebay and the CDS 71 is available for less $ 10.00. Can you make some detailed pictures so we can modify the deskstand for the X1? Please advise what and how it has to be changed. Is there a way to make it horizontal?

I registered for an update on BoxWave (for upcoming HTC Touch accessories) and received an email today. They now have a cradle....
http://www.boxwave.com/products/easyfinder/buy-best-htc-touch-accessories_2727.htm
I found like 3 or 4 different cradles now, all suitable for the touch, but what I'd really like to see is a cradle with integrated 3.5mm jack
Actually the following as a cradle...
(from amazon)
Do you think something like that will be available anywhere soon? I already thought of purchasing that and somehow "build" a cradle areound it.
I've got the exact same functionality in my >5 year-old MDA (I?) cradle and it's really useful.

I'll second that thought!
I'm going to crack the one I got from Brando (see my earlier post here) with a penknife and plug my HTC adaptor into it myself.
I have two different HTC Touch cradles available: one with spare battery charger, and one without (see pictures attached).
The small cradle (no additional battery charger) is US $15.
The cradle with additional battery charger is US $20.
Shipping to just about any country is US $8.
PM me if you would like more details / would like to order one.
Looking for folks that actually own a cradle and can report back what they like/don't like... and which one they ended up buying?
The cradles for the touch don't look very - how you say - sleek? Very old school for such a nice phone

anything that looks like cheap **** from China, probably is...
Maybe so, but these are definitely a better option than the cheap extended batteries available on ebay. Atleast they won't blow up inside the device. If somebody has tried them it would be great to hear some comments.
how many have blown up? and would they really blow up or more like leak?
i think its probably better to get one of those portable laptop batteries that might work, they have them in external and i think for regular 120v so you could plug charger, though it would be very nice if they had a usb plug for charging directly im not sure how to convert them but most of the ones i have seen are 120W not sure how that goes in mAh
if you want buy battery from china, pls contact me,
thanks
what i want is a fully pinned 11 pin usb male connector (for soldering reasons, or one with all the pins attached to wires) im sure a lot of ppl here would be intrested in that... hmm custom 1/8 stereo usb charging/data and oh did i mention mic ya i would put that in a docking cradle esp for car one
thats what i want
so any anyone use this battery? i'm thinking about buying one
Dear Doug ,
Give this China battery manufacturer a chance first before you comment it is a ' Cheap **** ' product . There are many made in USA ' Cheap **** ' products too ( both cheap and expensive ) if everyone needs to look for it to prove to others - right ? You are being prejudice against made in china product just because it is cheap - do you know how much money manufacturers make on producing it's product ? Just because this particular company chooses to make less profit and to sell at a minimum price doesnt mean it is a **** product - please get this inside your mind ! Please be fair in your comments - thanks and regards - jimmunsw

80% of the products in your home probably contains parts made ini china.
Not everything made from china is bad. Nowadays everything is made in china.
Avoid going off topic.
Anyway, that first one looks nice. And 10,000mAh should be more than enough for 1 whole day of full use of any device.

looks good. do you actually have one? if so could you answer the following questions/
does it add much weight? whats the general quality like? if you take the keyboard out does it still feel ok as a case or does it feel a bit empty/hollow/squishy?
also, if you just wanted to use it as a tablet as you would normally want to when you are out and about, does it flip over nicely to allow you to do that or is it only really designed to be used landscape in the case on a desk.
£37 is a little expensive for what it is so a little unsure. would have preferred Bluetooth too as it limits your options with using a usb stick or even a 3g dongle (when support for it is eventually implemented). friend has just got his ipad one similar to this and thats BT and cost £35

usb for teh winz
I bought one off ebay
I bought one off ebay
The pros:
-Wow you can play games with keys!
-Works simply
Cons
-the usb is covered by the grip, this is not so much of a problem unless you are using something that doesn't flip when the tablet is rotated, but even then the grip can be flattened to put it out the way.
-little heavy
All in all a surprisingly good buy.
the one on ebay seems a fair bit different
about the mp3: is it worth the 40-50 euros ?
Might be handy to have, but i'm not wasting 40-50 euros if it's flimsy

The one that the other guy posted only includes the case for $34. You have to buy the mat seperately. The one I found comes with both....but I'm sure that the quality isn't as good though.
that powermate case looks fat!
This is not exactly wireless, the four tits on the bottom of the door contact the bars on pad to charge. I have the qi wireless door from Verizon and the energizer two position pad. It works great but there is supposed to be a update that will increase the distance it will charge. Thus most cases will not be a problem. The current one is about 5mm I believe and suppose to be going to 40mm. Distance between the door and charger. Goodluck
See the Galaxy sIII shine via SynergyRom
Hmmm...... I don't think the quality on that thing would be very good, $55 seems pretty steep, I'm pretty sure you can get something of better quality for cheaper or the same price.
well.. technically it's wireless...... since it doesn't require a plugging on cables.... but yeah.. it's just one of those with contacts....

Yeah it looks like the power runs through the power mat on those metal strips, and the contacts on the back case make a connection with that. Doesn't seem very safe or efficient, plus those contacts on the back of the case seem like they'd scratch the powermat strips, and if you look carefully on the bottom right of the first picture it looks like that may be the case, could also be writing or a reflection or something else too.
I think the price doesn't justify it. I'll stick to wired charging and wait for a phone that includes wireless charging out of the box.
wireless
This is not Qi(only way to go) nor Powermat (not bad, but not Qi...yet) nor is it inductive charging. It is CONDUCTIVE (Duracell) and useless...In this case, use a USB cable instead
I hate to play devil's advocate here, but by using this type of charging, the only thing you're doing is reducing the number of inserts/removals on your usb port thus having it last abit longer... but these things are also rated for 50,000+ insert/removal cycles so it's kinda hard to use these devices long enough to go over that limit.

You're completely missing the point. The main idea is to increase convenience, which this does big time. I don't care at all about the longevity of USB port.
That said, I bought a Verizon pad for $15 on eBay, and am now trying to find a stupid charging cover that isn't made in someone's kitchen. Finding the latter is the hard part.

i'm not missing the point at all. The convenience factor is implied with that. There is no other real reason for you to get wireless charging.
What i'm saying is that it's an added "benefit" for this specific charger.
Also, send a PM to kms108. he's selling the receiver pad for the Qi chargers.
I'm buying the Nokia chargers as soon as I can find one hopefully this weekend seeing that the Nokia lumia 920 is released on Friday. I have the Qi receiver and it works great on the LG (Verizon Pad) just want something more appealing. They also say that the charger is more forgiving on where you place the phone do to new technology from Texas instruments.

Getting hold of additional charging docks?

Hi All,
I've been using my Huawei Watch for around a week now and can honestly say that I love it. I originally had the Gear S2 Classic but returned it after 4 days because I thought the Tizen app store was a bit too barron.
One thing I have tried to do since getting the W1 is buy another charger that I can take with me, I'd like to be able to leave the original on my bedside table for night charging but can't seem to find anywhere that sells the chargers for a reasonable price.
I live in the UK and have checked all the usual places but I'm even struggling to find one from the US ect. If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.
Thanks
EDIT: Sorry this should be in the accessories section, can a Mod please move? Thanks
If you're in the US you can buy them from the Huawei store. I don't think it's available anywhere else yet (at least I couldn't find it when I was searching for them).
You can buy one direct one from the Google store, although it's currently showing out of stock.
https://store.google.com/product/huawei_watch_charging_cradle
A bunch are sold on Ebay. Just search "huawei watch charger." I ordered on for $10 USD shipped from China. Don't know how good they are as it will take a couple of weeks to get here. I'd post a link but because I'm new on the forum the will not let me.
Thanks for the replies all, I'll keep an eye on the store for a couple of weeks and go with eBay if not.

Here is a thread we have started about third party chargers. Feel free to join in with your experience. I am going to order that one that @player911 linked to.
If you happen to have huawei band (the black round one), its charger can be used to charge huawei watch too.
I am waiting on a review/comparison before pulling the trigger.
We have ordered one of these and they are of very low quality, the huawei puck has a little bit different connection than the eBay one, making the eBay one even harder to line up when charging.
Received my $10 puck from eBay today - so far it's working great

I bought one in Romania from cel.ro . I don't know if they ship outside my country. It was 40 USD, the original one.
Personally, I bought the original one from the Google store yesterday. Not sure I would trust a cheap chinese replica even at £9 instead of the £29 price tag of the original. The watch is expensive enough without tempting the devil with a charger that was manufactured by a 7yo.
But i think it's too expensive for a charger like this. It could be a bit cheaper
Thanks all! They're back in stock for UK orders as I type this. Just bought mine from the Google Store ☺

I agree, it is expensive, but when you look at the box, you know where the money goes! lol
Plus, I've seen quite a few posts online about people buying those cheap chinese chargers and they burned the back of the watch... so I'd rather pay £10 more and ensure it is fully compatible with my watch.

I doubt that this box costs more than a dollar to make and I doubt that a defective charging pad can damage your watch since there is just to little current going through it. There is a good argument to be made for buying a good quality charger but the charging pad is just a few pins and wire, no way I am paying 40 Euro for that if there is an alternative.
Check this:

I think its a good idea to have a charger with micro usb plug
I bought a knock off Henoda off Cramazon, I believe $10 bucks free prime ship. I've used it several times, it actually connects better than OEM, I have to fiddle with OEM to get it to connect. So far no real issues.
Your mileage may vary ala Benson Leung's Google testing and frying a chromebook
