BlackBerry Connect on Build 21812 or earlier ? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Hi,
I have decided to upgrade my still useful Hermes but I'd like to be able to use my BB Connect with it.
Can anyone tell me what I have to do to make it work please ?
I have tested several AKU but it doesn't work (.0.4.3 / .0.0.0 / .0.1.6 and .2.0.0).
Can you please help me making this work ?
Thanks

hi,
you must make backup your data (you can use microsoft myphone service http://sn1-p3.myphone.microsoft.com/mkweb/Start.po?mkt=en-EN ) and after it you must connect your pda to PC. newer version of BBconnect is http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?ENTRY_ID=276 , so you can upgrade your PDA and after it install again microsoft myphone and bbconnect.

Hi,
Thanks for your answer but I don't understand what you mean.
What does backup allow me to do ?
I've already tested latest version of BBConnect and it doesn't work at all.
What do you mean by upgrade my PDA ?
Thanks

Yes you can upgrade to WM2003 but about the BT this is a Hardware issue thus you cannot get an BT SD because it won't work the unit does not support SD/IO.
I recommend from you do not touch the "RSU" leave it as its .
How to upgrade to WM2003 goto http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org and cook your rom
then here's the safest way how to install it to your ppc http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=3274
Good Luck.

T Mobile PPC unlock.

I have wallaby ppc with
ROM version : 3.14.40.eng
ROM date : 11/26/02
Radio version : 6.18
Protocol version 324e4
This is locked to T mobile. I want to unlock it. I have usb cable with me. I downloaded xdaunlock.exe & saved it in my PPC with help of active sync. I opened the soft in PPC it says cannot get codes. I think this version of my PPC is too low. WHat am i suppose to do now? Should I upgrade? if i have to upgrade please tell how to upgrade or is there any old soft to unlock this? Please help me.
You should upgrade to the xda-developers special edition ROM
xdaunlock requires the wmodem application, which isn't included in your ROM-Version.
Or you can alos cook your own rom. Best choice for unlocking would be 3.17.03

You do not need any Linux on your machine.
The special Rom comes in exe format and if you cook your own, you can choose between exe-Format for easy-Flashing or nb1/nbf-Format for secure flashing.
You find Special Edition ROM here:
http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/tools/special_rom_1.2.exe.zip
and a Rom kitchen here:

Thanks a lot again. I have stared downloding the special edition rpm now. Is it ok if I run it in the Windows98 meachine? Should I transfer the full 15mb soft into the PPC? I think i am asking u a stupid question but i am not too familiar with these PPC. Does this works only in WIN XP or WIN 98 is ok?
I think win 98 should be ok.
It just requires a working active sync connection (I never tried this under win 98)
You don't have to transfer the file to your PPC.
Unzip the file, so that you get the real exe-file, run it on your PC and follow he instructions....
Stefan
I will try it out in an hour & post the results.
Thanks a lot. I unlocked my ppc without any problem. Thank U very much.

I am interested in trying out these new WM6 roms. however, I was wondering if anyone knew if easysync pro will work with WM6.
Yes it works without any issues. I am using Easysync since 1.5 weeks on wm6.

Please - What version are you using?
What version of EasySynch Pro works with Windows Mobile 6?
I'm also interested in using EasySynch Pro to synch my WM6 Device? Bunique, what version of EasySynch Pro are you using?
mine is 4.2.5
Easysync pro works with wm6 since V4.2.2. U have to install to main memory.

I have v 4.2.4 and was unable to install it to my WM6 device. Are you sure about this? The system requirements for 4.2.4 list the following as supported:
Microsoft Pocket PC 2000 / 2002 / 2003 / Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC devices (ActiveSync)
alanchia67: Where did you get 4.2.5? I don't see it listed on IBM's site.
Thanks,
-Brett.

1.-I'm quite sure on this.
2.-I got-it under IBM internal site (i'm an IBMer)
3. 4.2.4 should work. just install-it into the main memory and u have do do something (i don't remember what) to allow restricted operation on the PDA, this is a reg-hack or something, search xda and u will find!
ps. 4.2.5 is a fixpack

Thanks for your reply. I found an IBM article outlining 4.2.5 and support for WM6.
Perhaps it was a problem with allowing unsigned apps? I seem to recall a registry hack/cab available to fix that. enable_rapi?
It's a bit of a moot point now since I reverted back to a WM5 rom last night. Maybe I'll try reflashing a WM6 rom and see if i can get it going though a hack...unless of course you'd be willing to send me a copy of 4.2.5, for evaluation purposes.
Thanks!
-Brett.
sorry , can't do that.
Anyway, yes, , its is the unsigned apps problem.

First off, thanks for the reply. I hope this isn't in the wrong forum... I found this thread through a search and I was hoping it applied to me. I've got a Wizard (Cingular-branded 8125), but I am using WM6 & Easysync Pro.
I still can't get EasySync 4.2.4 to install. I get a series of errors when it's trying to install the cab:
First, "this program uses a file that is no longer supported please obtain an updated version of the program"
Then "unable to launch \windows\xcpcsyncsvr.exe: error 1411"
Finally, it says that it's installed, but it isn't. And Easysync on the PC reports that it can't connect.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
-Brett.

Graytraveler, try .84, 90 did not work for me with a stock Tytn II, but 84 did. Or I used Dutty's latest ROM from Xda-developers.com and .92 worked fine with that.
Hchickers, you can try this:
1. Hard reset.
2. Change device ID, from Start -> Settings -> System -> About -> Device ID to HTC_P3450
3. Install a registry editor, such as Resco (www.resco-net.com) or Total Commander (www.ghisler.com, I use 2.5 beta 3). Then edit
HKLM\System\Versions\AKU key, change whatever in there (like .0.0.3) to .0.4.2
Then soft reset and install Blackberry Connect. This method worked for some people (they weren't using 750, but still). It might work for you as well.

BlackBerry Connect 4 and Artemis.

Hello all !
If you use BBConnect with Artemis and WM6, please, drop here a small mesage with the exact ROM version and BBConnect version you are running successfully.
I beleive it will be very useful for BB users to know which ROM is supported and which is not.
Best regards,
