[WM 6.5] FONTS, COLOURS, SIZE Modify and Redo your theme - XPERIA X1 Themes and Apps

First of all thanks to showaco for his efforts and work on skinning. Many thanks to agent_47 for providing cpr files and guidance.
I read pieces of this here and there and so decided to assemble in one place to make it work. This is tried and tested on my Xperia. Stil try it on your own risk. Below is just an example.

Attached is a zipped file for various fonts.
Also attached is a word file for font colour scheme.
Attached Original Xperia titanium cpr files. these files work with showaco titanium weather, ctext, cphone, cfavourite people, cvoicemail, cemail, ccalendar, clauncher, cphotos. Thanks to agent_47
Attached is the "MYCPR" 480*800 titanium cpr file based on my screen. Just copy it to your windows folder root using total commandeR and restart. File explorer cant handle this cuz it wont paste the file. For the 800*480 landscape mode i shall edit the cpr in a couple of days. You have to also copy the attached font DomeAregato to your wndows root folder for this particular cpr to work. For more fonts see the How to below. Make sure to backup your original cpr files from the windows root directory.
HOW TO CHANGE FONT
1. Download the Fonts.zip attached below. Unzip.
2. Download the original cpr files. Unzip and change attributes of Titanium_480*800.cpr and Titanium_800*480.cpr to archive from readonly. This can be done by right clicking on files and going to properties.
3. Double click on Titanium_480*800.cpr and click to open it from notepad.
4. Find "Tahoma" and replace all with the exact font name found in the *.ttf file of the font you want to use. Use the replace command in notepad for this.
5. Save the file. Copy it to your mobile storage card and from there copy to your windows root directory using total comander.
6. Also copy the *.ttf file of the font you chose to windows root directory. It would be all the more better to copy all ttf files of fonts in the fontz.zip to windows root. This will help future changes of fonts.
7. Restart
Please Note: Font names for step 4 can be found from the downloaded fonts.zip you just downloaded. Unzip the file and choose whichever font you want from a list of fonts i can update later. Be sure to open the *.ttf file in each font folder and check the exact name of the font. Do not use the font name on the folder but the exact name that you see in the respective *.ttf file.
Changing Font colour and text size follows this post in a couple of hours.

Font Size & Colour
Copy the Titanium_480*800.cpr file to your computer. Open the "Titanium_480*800.cpr with notepad as mentioned in the 1st post.
All the plugins that you have installed on the titanium will be there. Every plugin configuration will start as
"Plugin namr" templates. For example,
<!-- Phone templates -->
<!-- Clock templates -->
<!-- Text templates -->
Under each template would be two categories expanded and then condensed. for e.g
Phone Expanded
Phone Condensed
We should for now concentrate on condensed. It would look like this,
<Layer ID="PhoneCondensed" Visible="False" Width="480" Height="68">
<Layer ID="Page">
<!-- Plugin Label -->
<Text ID="PluginLabel" Left="20" Top="8" Width="440" Height="68" FontFamily="Popsies" FontSize="18" FontStyle="Regular" Wrap="False" VerticalAlignment="Top" Trimming="EllipsisCharacter" Text="phone">
<TextStage TextOffsetType="TextOffsetDropBottomRight" Color="#00000000" TextOffset="1" BlurFactor="3" Alpha="1.0" />
<TextStage TextOffsetType="TextOffsetNone" Color="#F665AB" />
Look at the color in the last line. This is set to purple as in the picture above. Standard white colour is "#FFFFFF". You can replace this with the code that you want matching the colour you want.
Colour codes are available for download in the 1st post. Once done, repaet it for all condensed values of various plugins you have. Save the file and copy it to your windows directory root on xperia using total commander.
Font size change follows.

Guys,
Heres another screenshot. Please post yours.

How to change distance between 2 lines on WM 6.5.3 popup menu ?

To overwrite this file Titanium_480*800.cpr file do we have to use a .cab file or is there another way???

I am trying this on my LG ks20 and in widows folder i found Titanium_800x480,Titanium_480x800,Titanuim_240x320,Titanium_320x240 i fallowed instructions and replaced Tahoma font (i only found that font in Titanium_240x320 and Titanium_320x240) and replace it whit font name of my choose...I copy it to memory card and then whit Total Comander to the windows folder restart my phone and nothing happends...I have inmpression that TC cant owerwrite the existing file...Someone know what is the problem ?

Start Menu Customisation

Hi all,
I've built a .dll file with icons for customising the programs folder of the start menu. I've attached this file with an example of how it can be used in a .zip archive.
For those not used to working with shortcuts (.ink) and/or .dll files instructions are as follows:
1) Unpack "Start Menu.zip" to a folder of your choice on your computer.
2) Copy "Start Menu.dll" to "\Windows\" on your device, using Active Sync.
3) Again using active sync go to "\Windows\Start Menu\" on your device.
4) Back up your programs folder by copying the folder entitled "Programs" and pasting it to a folder of your choice on your computer.
5) Open the Programs folder on you device using ActiveSync.
6) Open each program group folder here (e.g. "Games") in turn, cutting the program shortcuts (e.g Notes.lnk) out of the folders into the main "Programs" folder on the device then delete the folder.
(N.B. You should not cut any shortcuts called "ICON.lnk" out of the individual program group folders. These will be in "Office Mobile" and "Games" folders, and possibly some others, which display their own icon already.)
7) Open the "Programs" folder that you extracted from the "Start Menu.zip" archive.
8) Select all the folders present and copy them to the Programs folder (\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\) on your phone, using ActiveSync.
9) Copy your program shortcuts into the program group folders as required.
To undo simply delete the entire contents of "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\" and then copy the contents of the folder that you copied over from your phone in step 4) above.
Have fun!
screenshot please thank you
Thanks for posting, works a treat. Any chance of a Microsoft folder icon?

Hi,
thanks for this, I was trying to do the same but got stuck at the links creation.
What do you use to create the .link files?
I have found a little .vbs script that creates .lnk files on my desktop but always appends "C:\" to the path I define so I can not use them on the device.
many thanks for your answer.
bump!
Are you still developing on this customisation? Are you able to provide a cab file? ... having some trouble with access permissions when moving the files as described in step 6-8

Hi jleung87
You need to use a program called Total Commander. It's free, search for it.

Hi hpsmartz
Copy an existing link on your phone and paste it to a different location. Then rename the lnk file and edit it using a program called Total Commander. After this you can cut and paste it back into the desired location.

How to change the background in all tabs

Hello guys,

I try with manila editor 0.2 to edit the : 4a087e41_manila, then i replace with my files, i disable the TF3D et i upoload the file to /windows, i launch TF3D, but the backgroung never change!!!
Help me please, thk you!
Well i did the same, but only the background on homescreen didnt change, all over tabs changed. So i just put the same image as background in my hometab.
but if u read this u should get it going. good luck

@traxx:
Don't you have forgotten the step 3 in the process of this post ?
"Step 3: Find the executable of the XVI hex editor program you downloaded, and launch it. Open the 4a087e41_manila file you edited with manila editor. Launch another instance of the XVI hex editor and open the "first two lines of hex" file you downloaded. Align both open XVI hex editor windows next to each other and change the top two lines of code on the manila file to match the top two lines of code in the "first two lines of hex" file by changing the two digit numbers on the left side of each window. Once they match like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=168
save the changes to the manila file."
It works perfectly for me
PS : thx again to giangishanghai and snootch
@germanHD : I've had the same problem until I reset the default background in the settings of Touch3D. In fact, I've removed an additional background on the Home tab.
Thk for your answer, PhTor, but it doesn't work!!!!
Can you do a exemple, for me?
Thank you.
Ok, here is what I do :
On PC
1/ Create a 512*512 PNG image
2/ Open Manila Editor and load the 4a087e41_manila by using the "Select Path" button
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3/ Changing image by using the "Replace" button. In this exemple, old 4a087e41_manila is backuped
4/ Close Manila Editor, as the 4a087e41_manila is automatically saved
5/ Open XVI32 and load 2%20First%20Lines%20HEX
6/Open XVI32 and load 4a087e41_manila
7/ Compare and make changes in 4a087e41_manila (I'v colored in yellow what must be changed for me)
8/ Save the 4a087e41_manila
9/ Copy 4a087e41_manila in My Documents on HTC
On HTC
10/ Close Touch3D
11/ Open Resco Explorer and "Copy to" 4a087e41_manila from My Documents to \Windows
12/ Confirm overwrite
13/ Launch Touch3D
14/ And it's ok
You should backup the original 4a087e41_manila before step 11 of course
PS : excuse my english...
Thanks for that. Very informative. How do you know what values to change?
The two first lines (between 51 54 and C7 00) must be the same in 4a087e41_manila and 2%20First%20Lines%20HEX, whatever the 4a087e41_manila file.
That's the reason why in the original post the link to First two lines of Hex code by NisseDILLIGAF is given by giangishanghai and snootch
Thk you for your help i work's for me ;-)
ITS NOT WORKING FOR ME... i donno y...

Just use this1 to use in manilaeditor and change it in the1 u like.
Hi guys,
i've been working to get my backgrounds ok, but i seem to do something wrong, but i don't know what. I've made the png 512 x 512, edited it with hex editor, but still no luck.
Anyone any suggestions?
I was getting the same errors until I realized that all the samples I had were 256X256. I re-sized my background image from 512X512 to 256X256 and it worked very well.
why I don't have to overwrite it? of coruse it's not work for me
what is 2%20First%20Lines%20HEX? and where could I find it? Doing this on a touch pro should be the same process right?

[ICONS]How to make folder and shortcut icons! ICONS INCLUDED

You want to customize your Windows Mobile device but don't want to install heavy applications?
Here a simple but effective solution!
Why should I do this?
If you arrange your program shortcuts into folders, than your program menu will open much faster.
And If you make some custom icons for the folders, you can navigate better because of the individual look of every folder.
It looks like:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Here is what you have to do to set a folder icon:
create a new file (doesnt matter what type) in the folder you want to have an icon, rename it to "icon.lnk" goto properties of this file and type a path to a DLL-file wich contains icons or an EXE-file with a special number behind it, here an example:
to set an icon for a shortcut-file... (*.LNK)
...,add the following right after the shortcutpath: ?[DLL-PATH],
Code:
[/I][/FONT]
Example:

Here are some Icon Codes for some system DLLs:

Sorry mate... no idea... you mean the standart drop down menu? not the new manila pop-up, big-size bull****?
If you want it bigger, than try the new manila pop-up, finger-friendly ****... (I don't like it, look here for screenshots)
Very strange, but unfortunately changing icon groups 8216 and 8217 (settings and programs) in shellres.192.dll does not seem to have any effect in changing icons in drop down start menu. I think some of the icons are hidden in outres.dll (not 192) and tapres.dll (not 192).
If anyone has made it to change these icons and share experience it would be appreciated.
Grtz
is there a way to use an icon from another application for a specific shortcut?

You should just go make a DLL and add the icons you want. It's simple:
Download Resource Hacker (just search xda for this - I can't post external links as I'm a "new" users).
Download icons.
Create your DLL (or hijack an already existing one).
Add icons, save it, and drop it into your \windows folder.
One I created is attached. There are only a few icons in there as I only have the custom icons I'm using so far.

[TUT] Making custom icons to replace the standard icons

Warning: if you do not follow the steps to the letter....you can brick your phone and have to hard reset
You can make your own custom icons for your phone by following these steps:
(I will use the start menu icon as an example)
1) find an image you want to use
2) use an image editing program (included in post) to make it the proper size and format (for the start menu icon it has to be a .ico 25x25 32-bit graphic). Most programs have a resize option...the one I included in this post allows you to resize, and save in a variety of formats (instructions on how to install the icon plugin for the program are in the icocur.zip file...just unzip both archives , and install the program to use). Just go to the image tab, select "resize" and put in the desired pixel size. Next, go to the file tab and select "save as", and select the desired file format. If you are replacing another icon on the phone you can always look at the resolution and file format using your resource editor to assure you have the right size and format.
3) use the instructions in this thread to put the icon into the .dll resource file (for the start menu icon it is #18 in tapres.dll found in the /windows directory...just copy to desktop and edit)
4) DO NOT FORGET TO DIGITALLY SIGN THE FILE USING THE SIGNER IN THE THREAD LINKED ABOVE
5) copy the revised file back to the windows directory (either using activesync, or resco, or total commander)
6) reboot...and you have a new icon
{

didn' work with WM 6.1, cant replace file.dll. what can I do?
try using resco explorer...just copy it to your storage card, and then use resco to move it to the windows directory.

May need to install sdkcert. *not sure about the 3G*
holy crap I thought this thread was dead, and WHAM a ninja appears!! Thank you styles I appreciate the quick response. I'm not really sure how to install the certs. Are those what came in the file editor suite?
Has it got to do with color info possibly? I don't mind fooling with the files provided all that happens is a hard reset is needed.
I've been going insane wanting to do global skinning for winmo 6.5 but with things like highlight it's not an image but a defined color bar. Plus I can't even begin to find the taskbar images to alter so....
PS. I didn't mean to sound ungrateful and petulant if I did in my earlier post. I was a bit angry at my phone...lol.
If you ever want to do some collaborative work let me know, I have years of skinning experience with several different devices and such.
EDIT: Ok, I think I know what you mean. There's a WM SDK Certs.cab that came with SmartToolKit rc09, will that work or should I try to find a newer one?
EDIT 2: Well I installed the certs from the file editor suite you provided, (both sdk and the certificate.cab and even switched from pe explorer to reshacker and it still bricked. Basically what the phone is doing is upon reboot it gets to the windows bootscreen and won't display the homescreen. I can hear the phone doing something when I scroll so I know it's not locked up completely but I can't access my homescreen and the PC fails to recognize it. Dunno what I am doing wrong but it's annoying none the less...lol.

[HOW TO] Theme ALL keyboards without FCs! [A guide for beginners]

I posted the original thread over in the Sprint section here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1915508 Please try to keep questions in the Sprint thread, but I wanted to share here also. Hopefully this helps someone!!.
Theming a keyboard may be common knowledge to some of the amazing Devs here. But to a noob like me, it took some research and time to get it working without breaking the original signature (That's the trick!). I searched the forum and it doesn't look like anyone has posted a "How To" on theming a keyboard, so I thought I'd share my experience with you all.
**Some of these steps may seem elementary, but I tried to explain everything in layman's terms so even a beginner can theme a keyboard.
// Before you get started:
You must have a working environment setup. Check out QBKing77's awesome video "How to install the android-sdk" to get that going.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614922
Make sure you also have installed:
Notepad++ (for editing xml) // (www.notepad-plus-plus.org)
7zip (for extracting apks) // (www.7-zip.org)
the image editor of your choice. I use Paint.Net(www.getpaint.net), and Gimp(www.gimp.org). Both FREE!
apktool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1755243)
LatinImeDictionaryPack.apk (drop in the 'system\app' folder on your phone. Only for the LatinIME.apk) Grab it here: http://d-h.st/Ebb
// This method has worked with every keyboard that I have encountered so far. I will use 'LatinIME.apk' for reference, as that is the stock ICS keyboard. //
WARNING.. DO NOT POST DISTRIBUTION LINKS TO ANY MODDED 'Swype.apk'. XDA HAS A STANDING ORDER FROM NUANCE (MAKERS OF SWYPE), THAT DOES NOT ALLOW SUCH LINKS TO BE POSTED.
1) To start make sure you have a working copy of your keyboard apk; grab it out of a ROM, download it, or use a file manager with root access (like Root Explorer) to copy it to your SD card then to your computer.
**I would suggest dropping the keyboard apk into a folder on the desktop, seperate from anything else, and making a backup of the original so that you have a spare copy.
2) Using 7zip extract the 'res\drawable-xhdpi' folder into the folder you created. This folder will contain the pngs that control some of the keys, outlined in red on this pic:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Color these pngs to match using your favorite editor and save (bucket fill with Paint.Net is a breeze!)
3) Now that your pngs are themed.. Within the folder that you created containing your apk, hold down shift and right click. Select "Open Command Window Here" to fire up command prompt.
4) Next to decompile the keyboard apk with apktool (again using 'LatinIME.apk' for reference, but the apk may be of a different name; SamsungIME.apk, HTC_IME.apk, etc.).
Type this command:
Code:
apktool d LatinIME.apk
When it's done, you will see a folder with the apk name appear, within the folder you created. Click into it and you should see at minimun a 'res' folder and a 'smali' folder.
5) Navigate to 'res\values' folder. Depending on the keyboard you are working on, the xml controlling the remaining key colors will be contained in the 'colors.xml' or 'styles.xml' file. Open with Notepad++, and change the color codes as needed. Save and close.
6) Go back to the root of the folder containing your apk, and fire up command prompt (if it's not still open). Now it's time to build using this command (again using 'LatinIME.apk' for reference, but the apk may be of a different name; SamsungIME.apk, HTC_IME.apk, etc.)
Code:
apktool b LatinIME
7) When it's done building, you should have 4 folders minimum now (res, smali, build, dist) and it's time for the key to success. Navigate into the 'dist' folder and you will see the "Built" apk. Open it with 7zip, and extract the 'resources.arsc' file to your folder. Close 7zip.
8) Now it's time to pull it all together. Navigate back to the ORIGINAL keyboard apk, and open with 7zip.
Copy (you can drag and drop with 7zip) the 'resources.arsc' that you extracted from your "Built" apk, into the "ORIGINAL" apk overwriting the file. Then with 7zip still open and the apk loaded, navigate (within 7zip) into the 'res\drawable-xhdpi' folder where you should see the list of unthemed pngs. Simply drop your edited pngs into this folder. Close 7zip and you're done here!
9) Finally, take your "ORIGINAL" but themed apk, and push it back the 'system\app' folder on your phone.
Fix permissions to 'rw-r--r--' (only check everything under 'read' and Owner under 'write')
Reboot, and bask in the glory of your new themed keyboard!
**Alternatively, grab my empty zip installer here: http://d-h.st/oKG to flash in recovery. You must drop your themed apk into the system\app folder of the zip and save. Also, the zip already contains the 'LatinImeDictionaryPack.apk'
Please hit THANKS if I helped!! And please keep this thread alive!
