ok after more than an hour of taking pictures and editing im finally ready to upload them and be done with this. geeze you cooks must have some patience! my hats off to ya...so here we go...hope this helps atleast one person out there to make it worth my time.
ok to start we are going to need a t6 screwdriver, a prying tool a percision phillips screwdriver. (I ADVISE YOU USE A ANTI-STATIC WRISTBAND TOO)

so flip your dash over, remove the battery cover, take the battery out, and set off to the side. locate the rubber pieces from the picture below and remove them with your prying tool.
this next part is VERY important. note the void sticker over the top of the right screw. by opening your case you void any warrenty that may be active. just use you t6 to remove both of the screw (note they are silver)
now we only have four more screws to remove to get the back panel off, they are circled in red below, use your t6 again here. these screws are black
with all the screws out of the back panel you now need to take your prying tool and put in between the back panel and the chrome piece on the dash, if this is your first time it will be tight. dont be afraid to use a little force. (on the real tight spots is where it latches, that where you need to pry)
now comes the part i found a little different between my two dash's. the one made in china is the one i used in this guide (i have included a picture of the other one to show the differences). go ahead and remove the back panel. on my china dash the wire to the battery thing was NOT connected to the back panel and on my other dash it WAS connected to the back panel.
i didnt circle it but in the second picture you can see a wire going to the back panel and in the first picture you dont see that. in the next step you can see it nice and snug under the connector.
now locate the connection from the picture below and lift it out of the socket. easy to do just use your nail on the end and lift up.
the circled red connector below holds that cabel on, just use your nails and lift straight up on this and set it off to the side. i sat it in the spot on the back panel that it was on with my other dash
with thoes done we move on to the next spot, with again is circled in red below. use your prying tool, as pictured, to open the latch up.

here i used my nails and removed the "cable" by using the two tiny tabs on the side
the next thing we need to disconnect is below. again use your prying tool to open the latch like you did before.
once you have it open use remove the "cable" by using the circled tab
now the we almost have the mobo off. soo use the t6 to remove the screw, this is also a silver screw but, as noted, their is a difference in size.
the last thing holding the mobo on is two clips, and guess what? their pictured below...

i just used my nail to hold one back a little and lifted the mobo out and set it aside. ( the picture shows the "front" of it)
the antenna just lifts off, but you dont need to remove it
and this is what you should see now
were now ready to remove that chrome piece, note that the two circled "cables" go THROUGH the chrome piece.

i used the prying tool to remove the chrome piece, it came off really easy. hopefully it does the same for you
and heres a picture showing the "cables" that go through the chrome piece
set the chrome piece off to the side, and were almost done here
now its time to remove that lcd, which is so easly broken for most people. see the circled peice on the back? that grounds it out, just peel it off. and remove the lcd. i just put my hand over it and flipped the phone over. it came right out and i set it off to the side
now we can see the finish line
their are 3 screws to remove to get the keyboard pcb board off. use a percision phillips screwdriver (the one pictured in my first post is just a small phillips, it worked just fine)
set it off to the side and the keypads will just fall out if you turn the phone over
and thats it. i did not include how to remove the jogger bar, i have not done soo, no need to. if you do please take pictures to add to the guide.
please let me know what you think. i have included all the pictures in a zip file, they are a little better quality.

thats right, i remember a thread on that a little while ago. if you ever find it let me know, id love to have that too. maybe a translucent black or blue one.
i just wanna remove the damn t mobile logo but dont know how to do so without scatching the case. as you can see in the first post, where i scratched it removing the logo lol

Samsung Epix Screen Alignment

I did a hard reset, and am stuck at the screen alignment. I installed Remote Screen Alignment, but it appears not to have a setting for the Epix. Also, when I run it, I get an error trying to configure the remote device.
I am wondering if I need to create a .dat file for the Epix. Does anyone know the Epix calibration settings, or some other work around for beign stuck on this screen?

I had the same problem.
I too asked for the dat and others presets.
Guess what if those didn't work the problem is the touch screen digitizer. No way around it, you have to replace it.
It is cheap on ebay $15-19 shipped. I just finished putting it on.
Caution on taking the phone apart. It's not that easy to do so.

Do you have any tips for taking the phone apart?
My digitizer is crazy and I can't get the screen to allign. I'm ready to replace it, but a little weary about taking the phone apart so far.

There is no resource whatsoever on how to take the phone apart.
I just did it cold turkey. You just can't be afraid.
I took apart an i607 Blackjack before using instructional videos. I think this was a bit easier. Similar and easier.
I did not even refer to those videos again, I just went at it like no ones business. If your scared then you will probably mess up.
You obviously remove the battery tray, battery and sim card
Remove the stylus
Remove the rubber cover nub on the upper left side.
Unscrew all the visible screws. IIRC there are 3 on each side. This is probably one of the tough parts, because each screw looks to have been applied with some loctite material. You really need a proper screw driver. Philips head, but really small. You will see it. If you start stripping the screw, or strip it. START TO GET WORRIED. Because I don't know how you will get it out then. So after you removed all the screws. Do not expect the phone to come off easily.. IT WONT, its like it is still together.
You will need to use some FORCE to pry a small portion of the phone open, and when I say small I mean small because they are clipped together tight.
If you bought the digitizer from EBAY it comes with this

That included screw driver is a torx head which is no use to you. But that yello tool is what you need to use to pry the case apart without scratching the case.
So again once you pry a small portion.. I STARTED FROM THE BOTTOM, insert that yellow tool in the opening and run it along the case and it will start to pry open the case apart.
After that, you shall see the board.. this is where my memory gets vague.
I don't think there was any other screws to be removed to remove the board, but there might have been 1.
Anyways on the left side you will see a small ribbon cable that runs through the front of the phone, that is the cable that attches to the digitizer. Unclip it and remove it. Then carefully pry the board until you see the front screen digitizer.
Now you will need to decide how you are going to remove this because it is glued on. Be careful as you will need to use force. The OEM case though IS VERY STRONG. I was flexing that b!tch and it did not crack or snap. Good quality for sure Samsung.
Once you have it removed, you will need to have new adhesive, or be ghetto and just peel apart the one from the old digitizer and reposition it for the new one.
Put the new one, attach the ribbon cable and put phone back together.
Wish I could've taken pictures while I did it, but no one ever seems to speak up about calibration problems I thought I was the only one, and I was eager to install it.

I finally got around to fixing the digitizer. Removing the screws went suprisingly well. There was another screw on the PC board that I removed. I reused the adhesive, but I had to trim some parts of it to get it flat. Overall it went pretty well.

Thank you thank you! I just replaced my i907's digitizer and thanks to your thread, it was smooth sail.
If you didn't write it here, I would certainly feared removing the digitizer with such a force, I'd fear that I'm gonna break the frame. Fortunately, Samsung made it so soft it bends almost any angle without breaking.
It helped to put the frame on the table with a digitizer down, push onto the transparent area of digitizer with fingers (starting in some corner), and slowly pull the frame upwards, away from digitizer.
I recommend this seller: http://myworld.ebay.com/e2_express/ - it was a cheapest i907 digitizer on eBay, with free international shipping for $11, and he included all tools I needed for repair. My Epix now works perfectly (well, apart from ROM, but that's a completely different story, f**k you very much, AT&T .

Replace sceen May 2010
This is actually easier and scarier than it sounds.
Six screws: four at the corners of the battery compartment, one under the rubber plug upper left, and one under the stylus. (When putting back together-be careful with the stylus screw. The stylus goes inside and so will the screw. Time to take it apart, again.)
I could not re-use the adhesive. When I was taking off the old screen, the adhesive curled up longitudinally, tried to straighten, then it balled up. My wife scrapbooks so I used her photo adhesive strips. Not as strong, probably not long term, but I needed to put the phone back together.
Putting the ribbon connector back takes patience. Be sure the "clamp" is open before you start.
If the volume rocker comes off, dammit, there is a tiny hole that fits over a tiny peg, then slide the other end into the tiny slot.
I'm impressed with the inside of my Epix. Pretty amazing how much, and how they cram it in there.

This was just a stock black case I bought from VZ. I used a dremel pretty much freehand and this was the result:

The case is secure and works, but it definitely isn't pretty. As I cut on this case the plastic began to bubble up. Any thoughts on ways to keep that at a minimum? I think I might try to use water in between cuts, design a cut pattern, and use a different size cutting tool.

Well, as a case it works. It's protective. And you cannot purchase extended battery cases as of yet.

Props for trying to fab something up. I would try to keep the rotation speed down as low as possible. That should help with the bubbling. I don't know that water would help much, but you could try it.
I would sand the edges down and get everything smooth and even, then hit it with some spray paint. Krylon Fusion is pretty durable. Another idea. Plasti Dip. It would give a rubbery and anti slip texture, really durable, and comes in different colors. I would tape off the inside of the case then remove the tape after the Plasti Dip application. That would keep it from messing up the way the phone fits.

It looks like someone with an extended battery wants added protection for the phone. The case added a raised lip, so the screen is now protected when layed face down. The edges of the phone are protected, and the area surrounding the camera and leds are as well. The only part that isn't protected is the battery door, which costs a lot less to replace than other components on the phone.

Not bad for first attempt. Like previously stated, try a lower speed to reduce heat...might help with bubbling and increase accuracy.

Oh, and if you wanted, you could even hit the battery door with Plasti Dip so it would match the case. You can peel Plasti Dip off, so it wouldn't be permanent either. If it got scratched up, just peel it off, and put a new coat on.
I don't have an extended battery, but I want one now just so I could take this project on. haha

Mask it with masking tape, and maybe try cutting in intervals. By that I mean cut one part/side a bit and then move to another part/side and then back and forth rinsing and repeating as neccesary to help prevent heat build up.

It's the first time I've ever used a dremel, so I used different speeds. The top end speeds cut through like butter, but they bubbled.

Another thing with the dremel if you don't have the handheld wand kit is to mount the dremel and move the case. You will get greater control with your cuts.

There isn't much point to keeping the back half of the 2-piece case, though, since the only thing that really needs protecting (the camera) isn't covered, and the from half fits fine without it when the extended battery is in.

You need to use a Dremel routing table.. It cost like 30 bucks but will give you a mount for the Dremel, and fence to line up you case with. I use this all the time for modifications for everything. But not bad for your first stab. I noticed that if you go to fast with these plastics that the blade tends to pull the plastic towards where you don't want to cut. So if you try again just go slow.

Nice try, but the Dremel may have been overkill and not best suited for this job. Is that case hard plastic or silicone? Seems some scissors would have don't a cleaner job if it's silicone.

Just dress it up with some duck tape now.. Just kidding, could not resist.

I found that a utility knife and a straight edge will do the job too. Multiple passes will make nice clean edges.

Oh man I think I might just use my dremmel to carve my name right into the phone and call it a day! LoL!

How to safely add a lanyard to your Note. [Pic Intensive]

Hey guys! I posted on my blog a full explanation of how to do this, but I thought I'd share it with XDA. I saw another post of a guy who actually tied his lanyard to the actual phone grill and that made my teeth grind. I found 2 old lanyards around my house, one from an old camera and another one that Vodafone had given me with my iPhone 4 from over 16 months ago! I don't know why they gave me a lanyard, but oh well.
As you know the Note is a big phone! I love it but sometimes I feel like I'm going to drop it while one-handing it, so I decided to make this tiny tutorial. It's REALLY easy.
All you're going to need is the following:
A TPU case. (The two I got are located here and here off of eBay). They were cheap, so this is a really inexpensive project.
A needle
Tweezers
A lanyard

Take your TPU case and your needle and find a good location to hang the lanyard off of. Take into consideration how you'll hold it, if you like to hold it more with either your left or right hand... I'm more of a righty for just holding my phone, so I picked the bottom right corner. Also you can do the bottom right side (as seen on my white TPU case).
Proceed to stab your TPU case Don't worry, you won't hurt it. You can just take the need towards the middle or middle bottom of the case, and push through. I found it a little hard and the needle started to stick into my finger, so I just grabbed a towel and pushed it through that way, that worked fine. You could also just put a thimble on. I currently don't have one as I just moved! So towel it was.
After pushing the need through some what, you can take it out. The next step is to take your tweezers and grab the lanyard loop with the tweezers, and try and keep it as close as possible to the sharp end, if you've got a sharp end.
With the sharp end of the tweezers find the tiny hole you made with the needle and stick it through. It'll take a little force, so don't worry.
After getting it through you're going to hold onto the end of the lanyard with your finger and then let go with the tweezers and take the tweezers out. Pull the lanyard a little and you're almost done.
Put the other side of the lanyard into the loop to make a "knot" and you're done!
Attach the other end of the lanyard if you've got one, in this case I do.
And put your phone back into the case after tightening the lanyard line.
This is how it looks with the side hole, which I personally like more. But I guess it's personal preference.
And this is how it looks when I'm holding it or using it.
The TPU case is perfect for it since it's a hard rubbery silicone and doesn't rip easily. I find it really comfortable to hold now knowing that if I do drop it, or it falls there won't be an issue. I also pull it out of my jeans this way, too. I've had it like this for a week so far and there has been no additional tearing to the TPU case so I think it's a good candidate material for it.
I am not responsible if your lanyard breaks, or you end up breaking your phone. This is just something I found useful for me, and it's a lot safer for me at least.

Not at all! The phone is tightly placed inside the case. I have to apply a lot of pressure to get it out (not enough to break it). But any case that's loose isn't a good candidate to begin with.
The white and black TPU cases I used are not letting go. I wouldn't worry about that, at all

What if you made two holes on the side (instead of using one hole and the edge of the case as the "second hole")? It wouldn't impact the edge of the case then, so maybe it would have a tighter fit?
Just a thought, maybe it wouldn't work at all I have no case yet so I can't test.
Kind of strange that there is no lanyard attachment point on the note, really -- it's a device you could be particularly prone to dropping since it is so large/slightly hard to hold!

I suppose it could work, but it would really depend on the space you put between the holes. I ran it over the top because it's the thickest part of the case. I'll give the two side holes a try with my least favorite case and post back! haha.

That is pretty cool. The TPU case I bought has a reinforced lanyard hole on the lower right corner (as you look at the GNote from the back) I do not use a lanyard although I have several laying around. Do you place the lanyard on your wrist every time you use the GNote? When in your pocket is the lanyard hanging out to assist with getting it out of your pocket?

Every time? No, but it is frequently as it's also really comfortable to hold that way.
And I use it EVERY time I need to get it out of my pocket. Since the one I'm using right now is a camera lanyard, it's short. So it hides under my shirt, but with an index finger I grab it and pull it out. It's so much faster.

Kinda suprised me that capdase case didnt come with the hole already. They usually put it right above or below that red strip. That could be a better place to put the holes at as it doesnt seem so obvious that it's added on. Good guide tho

Or you can just loop the lanyard through the hole (on the case) for the mic and out the hole for the stylus, without having to make any extra holes in the case.
On ebay, you can get cheapo "S" design cases that have lanyard holes, saving you the trouble. They go for around US$3-5. I have one of these (in black) and the quality and fit is surprisingly good.

Bumper case advice to keep phone's screen attached

My phone has a screen problem which you can see in the image. The screen is not attached to body. When I push that side of screen with my hand it goes normal, so I think it is a adhesive problem. I need screen to stay steady because back button is hard to press in this condition.
So is there any bumper case which can hold screen attached to body so I can use it without any problem?

If nothing else, this case should hold your phone together. Other cases may work too, though it is difficult to tell if the small lip they have over the screen would be enough.

Put the glue on the end of a toothpick then run it along the inside edges of the screen and phone @sevindi

Dang brother, that looks bad. Very sorry to see this. Can I ask is this the result of dropping the device or this happened on its own? It doesn't look like it has any damage to it, have you tried contacting hTC?
As for cases, I prefer the thinner ones.
The Spigen Thin Fit has treated me very well on my hTC M9, and then now on my hTC 10. They do a good job I think with providing a nice thin product that actually does prevent small dings and what not (my 10 is still brand new looking and has been in this case with no screen protector since release day, but everyone's use is different). Color choice I wish they had black but the gunmetal looks great.

That's pretty bad.. Why haven't you RMA'd your device or at the very least contacted HTC?
As far as I can see from that picture, no clear signs of a drop either so...it should be a clear case of manufacturing defect.

Try tech 21, it has a lip around the phone. Good case too

I have seen a video about "disassembling?" on youtube. They just warmed the display up with some device, in order to reattach it. Maybe you want to have a look at such video to get an idea.
+1 for RMA before it gets wrecked fully.
Especially since i think it has some very nice degree of water resistance and dust resistance, when put together properly. You should let a professional take care of, to get the best result.

That'll be a heat gun mate, it'll also ruin most the glue sticking it down.. Probably not a good idea to do this yourself, if someone else has changed the screen out then RMA might not be allowed. If it's just gone this way by itself then Yea RMA for sure.

I would not hesitate to send it in. I would rather send it to HTC instantly. Probably i would not even ask a forum about such

Definitely send it in mate, if this has happened on it's own it's obviously a terrible defect, more than likely the battery has swollen, or the glue has come away or the phone has bent, or a combination of either.
Either way, not your fault and not a good sign, bearing in mind that this lump is a £600 phone! Not cheap and certainly not something i'd go dabbling with unless it was a last resort.
I stripped down a One X to do a replacement screen swap, ended up snapping a flex, and i'm a careful guy
So if you ask me send it back.
