[Request] HTC Hero theme for Magic. - myTouch 3G, Magic Themes and Wallpapers

Wondering if anyone could port f.x this theme (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=520629) to the Magic?
It would be awesome, or atleast any Hero themes.

Just curious, if you have a Magic why not root and put the real thing on? I really like the Hero ROM on my Magic.
Clinton

Because those ROMs are slow as hell

Oh sorry, you must have the 192mb Magic. Mine is a 288mb Magic works as good if not better than stock.

Lol, you used something i made, then you thank someone. I don't use your ROM any more, as it's unstable like hell...

This gets so confusing because of the release of the phone on other platforms before it's available elsewhere. My T-Mobile branded Sapphire is in the mail today and I am extremely anxious to get a Hero ROM on it.
I am not sure what that entails (rooting or whatever), but I would like to know. Has anyone in here gotten a MyTouch3G and have a Hero ROM on it?

Not possible right now, they have not had any success in rooting the MyTouch yet.

how can i know which magic has 192mb and which 288 mb of ram?

I'm sorry if you have found a solution and me posting this is beating a dead horse, but as it wasn't listed in the thread anywhere, I provide options:
@WebghostDK, try Qteknology. I have 1.6, with Swapper set to 92mb size and 60 swappiness. Runs like a charm, not slow at all.
@Reej, check here: http://www.ryebrye.com/blog/2009/08/16/android-rooting-in-1-click-in-progress/ I did this on my phone, and am now running the aforementioned Qteknology rom. remember to get Swapper from the market and set the settings right, otherwise you'll be reloading the home screen constantly, and you'll probably want to flash back to stock.

first job is to see what version you have..So.. before turning on press and hold back then press power (red phone) at the top it will give you some info, it will say either 32a or 32b this is the main part you need. Then go to HBOOT to determine your spl..follow instructions there (remembering to download bits for your board 32a or 32b)
After this you need to go HERE
After that is done you need to choose your rom HERE
If you have a 32a you a lucky s o a b and i would recommend a hero rom,32b im actually using nk02's google ion rom as it will still let me get updates and has root

Flashing a HTC ROM or other in a "fake" hero

I don't even know if this is the right section, but I bought this cellphone from a chinese website
ht*tp://ww*w.eemobi.cn/product/detail-1-2521-8583.aspx
Should it work if I try flashing on it the official htc hero rom? or any of these other rooms here (VillainROM)??
You "hero" is not a real htc hero. it is a fake one. Obviously you can not flash any rom, including android rom. It is called "山寨机" in Chinese.

I somewhat doubt it... the hardware would need to be literally identical, and the partitioning of the device would need to be identical. And can you be sure the seller hasn't misled you with the specs?
Tbh. I can't see it working, and I think you'll brick your phone if you try, since you may not have all the recovery tools the hero has.
So no, and I wouldn't try it. Don't think you'll even find a way to flash it
fake or not, it has different hardware (chipset) inside and has a different SPL, so flashing one of these ROMs is never going to work, and might even brick the device permanently.
as from the webby i see is a winmo hero -.-" u may try winmo section on dual boot lol...
edit: reported to HTC hope they will do something to it to prevent us, supporter from buying fake HTC product.
i just saw...its 128ram/256rom...so i guess wont rly work with android...i think ill stick with winmo6.5....and btw is there a super lite version of 6.5? i looked but couldnt find any
Ouch ... I hope you read the fine print before buying your "hero" ..
I can guarantee that flashing one of these ROMs as is will brick your "hero".. It may be possible to get android on it .. but it wont be easy unless someone else has already done the hard work!
i gotta say...
those phones you bought are not even identical to real HTC Hero.
it might be based on MTK chips, which have different mechanism as the normal Heroes, and their system were written in a totally different way as the HTC one, they just implement a similar interface to the Hero one..
Why do people buy that crap?
coz they took his job...

Any word yet on Android 2.2

Is there going to be an upgrade for the desire ?
Would love that ! (Flash)
Any body got some info ?
of course will be, the question is when?
thats quick ....
Are we talking months or weeks untill 'droid 2.2 comes out
The internet is being a bit tight lipped.
The deisre is lovely, but not finished yet.
flash is nice, divx is vital and 720p video is something I wsan't expecting...
How are we going to get it when its released?
Will it be a user ROM style hardware flash through PC sync or will i just download a file to my phone, click go and 10minutes later my phone is amazing??
(i'm having fun wiping smug faces of iphone owning freinds as they ask what phone I have and i show them, then tell them I've got it for £15/mnth )
you'll get it here on XDA as usual. ready to be flashed on your device as any other ROM
2.2 aka Froyo: maybe next week!!!
I read this on engadget:
Engadget's post about Froyo
I don't really want to root my phone as it's I think really good as it is but I wouldn't say no to Froyo! especially since it apparently boosts performance a lot!
Quote form Engadget: "Update: How much faster is a Nexus One running Froyo? 450 percent faster, according to the Android Police. They claim to have a device running the as-yet-unreleased firmware that can perform over 37 million floating-point operations per second in the Linpack benchmark... compared to about 7 megaflops without. Oh yeeaaah."
As soon as a Froyo rom leaks, people will rip it apart and mod it to hell to get it to run on all kinds of devices. I'm sure we'll see Paul make a 2.2 Desire ROM, for example and now that HTC has released the Kernel source code, it should be easier to port existing quality roms like Cyanogenmod to the device. They'll all require root access to flash as they're unofficial roms. HTC will probably eventually port Froyo themselves, but that will probably take months.
Still, 2.2 hasn't shown up yet, so no dice. We'll have to wait until google I/O before that happens
it's going to be loooong till HTC themselves release it..but as soon as its out for nexus we'll see it here on xda in no time!
If you don't want to root & use a cooked ROM I wouldn't count on having it earlier than 6 months from now.
HTC needs to change Sense UI for Android 2.2 and looking at the Hero, which STILL does not have 2.1 I wouldn't expect it to be quick.

Oh don't be so dramatic. I could fit loads on mine just fine. And i rooted and installed apps2sd anyway. Don't get any Android phone if you expect to be able to install millions of apps.
Yeah, we will get it as a Custom Rom in the next few days and from HTC in several months

Months?? Seeing how things are going with the hero, I'd say they'll release it to the desire once the 2.3 is out. So better think of it as next year.
IMO Desire's owners are very important for HTC, since we are buying their flagship phones. I think they must keep us satisfied, if not, we will buy different phone next time. And I won't be happy if Nexus One owners will get 2.2 and we will not.
BTW isnt the evo 4g an Android 2.2 phone quz 2.1 didn't support 4g correct me if im wrong but if it is the update for the desire wont cost them so much time to port.

Welcome to the tilt2. Here is one of my favorite threads! It includes some of the most usefull and widely used apps out for the tp2. The community here is full of answers and great help, feel free to ask any questions you may have about your new phone! There is a lot to learn, so keep reading and enjoying your new device!!!
thx for the link,im sure ill be asking plenty of questions. i really want to know how to get rid of all the at&t bloatware

If I were you I would just HardSPL unlock your Tilt 2 and flash a ROM from any one of the great cooks on the forums! I found the stock ROM hideously unusable.

Misconceptions. My smoothest/most stable ROM was the stock VZW 6.1 Sense 2.0 ROM. Although it required a TON of work to get that way, it was still one of my favorite ROMs to date (I would idle at 48% after WEEKS of usage).
I would suggest downloading something like TMS uninstaller or purchasing a toolkit like SK Tools or Mem Maid to get rid of the AT&T bloatware. Custom ROMs are nice as well, but I would suggest getting used to the phone before going that route.

Well, keep in mind that Verizon put a good looking theme on their version of the TP2....Have you seen the Tilt 2 Sense 2.1 theme?! Its COMPLETELY ATT blue....totally ruins the look of the device in my opinion...but weeks at that low of a usage?! That's very impressive!

LOL I was just gonna suggest...
The first file below is a clever little app developed here at xda, that does exactly that. Instructions are in the .zip.
The second file below contains two cabs that all new TP2/Tilt2 owners should run. They improve the phone's memory management, which leaves a little to be desired in its stock configuration.
Oh, and welcome to our little corner of xda! Follow burton's link above for the best place to get all the info you need to start, and then let us know if you need any more help. Feel free to PM me if you get stuck in a corner anywhere

Rhodium is a great device
Have a read on the Wiki and ROM section, you´ll find all you need!
thx for all the responses and the info, ill let everyone know when i recieve it. i actually got it for free because it is a refurb. they tried to tell me the refurb is for new customers only,so i gave them a piece of my mind and they let me upgrade and get it for free.
just got some bad news! i just recieved an email and it said my tilt2 was on backorder,my blood pressure just went through the roof. i called at&t and they took $20 off of my bill this month, but im still mad as ever. they dont even know when it will be in stock
srry 2 hear that..hopefully u'll get it sooner thn later. id call em again even sounding more pissed off. its their mistake not urs. i bet u can get them to jjst send u a brand new one then. it wont hurt to try ..juss be like u need ur phone for wrk purposes and cant afford to wait..juss some thghts..this dilemma might wrk out to ur advantage if u try to get them to just send u a new one since the refurb not in stock. at no charge..but if they do charge u, itll be added to ur phone bill. not like u gotta pay upfront. see about getting a free one though first..if they dont budge, negotiate something on da brand new one then. im sure they can wrk out somethin for u if u were able to get them to upgrade u for free anyways. juss some thghts...good Luck
for some stupid reason at&t said my tilt 2 was on back order but when i got home from work, there it was, sitting by my front door. i love it so far even though i need to do alot of tweaking. the hotmail is starting to tick me off,it keeps saying new account on my phone even though i went through the steps to set it up

hello, your Desire will not be branded.. thanks to the people (and me) who had complained about the 1.24.161.3 uptade (vodafone branded, very buggy & slow!)
enjoy the phone, dont root or do anything with it as it is your first android phone so it would be very likely to brick the phone if you do not read & or know enough
I am pretty sure you will have 2.2, however 2.1 is not that bad so no poit messing around with the phone to get 720p etc.. for me- it made no differace, just wanted the horrible branding off!
nice to see someone live close to me.. never saw anyone clocer than london..
hope this helps & enjoy the phone

welcome, to the dark side !!
thank you all... that would be sweet if its not branded like my tp2 was....
im inbetween slutton & croydon and work in east london atm.
ive heard alot of good things about android, only every really had a lil play with 1 or 2 android phones in the shops, couldnt test the internet ect...
but i wasnt keen on flashing my phones, must be why i got so annoyed with the tp2.
i will check out the link posted, and i will probly be posting up about more stuff if i cant find it in the search function.
You wouldn't be dissappointed with the Desire, infact, you wouldn't be dissapointed with any of hTC's android phones, especially unbranded ones. I strongly suggest you to flash a custom rom tho, they are quicker and more efficient than stock roms and should lengthen your battery life compared to normal stock roms.
Well I hope you will enjoy the phone, and have fun in the Desire forum
started using my desire last night, havnt evan had time to set anything up on it, i need to get used to the touch screen, soo used to having touch & type lol
have installed a few things such ass whatapp & juice defender because the people i work with rate that app highly with there galaxy S's

Again, you don't have a clue what you're talking about. Not to denigrate Tiad's contributions, but you should instead be giving credit to VirusCrazy and BZO instead. I also agree with the previous posters who feel this thread is useless. As anyone who has been following camera progress knows, the latest info on camera dev work can be found in the [DEV - Camera (Diamond, Blackstone, Raphael, Rhodium) ] Camera tests thread.
one day day everything will probably work on devices that didnt originally run android but when that day comes well all have probably upgraded.
thats why u see most people drop development...they upgrade to a true device.

that's true, but you forget that some of the phones are amazing, like the touch pro 2, atm. in my eyes this is an beautifull phone, an big keyboard, 2 camera's, big touch screen (to bad its no multi touch, ah well) the htc 7 pro is also cool yeah but think about how much this phone will cost, the price of that phone will be an normal buying price (im talking about the device without an subscription) in about 2 years, and then there will be another new phone everyone wants. You can say that upgrade is probably the best option, but is it financial the best way?
In my opinion the best way for these htc phones is for some people maybe learning the development process. Being able to fix your own bugs on the android port, that way it will be easier to port android (or other new mobile operating systems even tough they wont have the same builds, you will have some basic knowledge so it will be easier) to new phones faster because more and more people have the knowledge of it.
But this is just my opinion
I recently bought an touch pro 2 and im dying to get an good android port on it.
2 weeks ago i started learning the process of how android actualy works
atm. i dont understand allot but i sure do understand allot,
And if everyone stops developing for the htc touch pro 2, i will continue learning it (i am seeing myself being 50 and finnaly having an properly ported android on this phone lol.)

Well, I have a 210 and it works for me also. I have tried the code scanning software also and it works as well. Just drop all files into the appropriate folders as told in the install guide from that page. Mine works like a charm and pics are just as good as WinMo.

i used only files that he gave us. nothing more besides that i edited startup to rhod100
I'll double check the thread, but I don't believe it specifies folders that need to be used. Everything else worked. And the fxcamera didn't crash. It simply didn't show any image on the screen. Rereading it, it does say "open all apps then reboot. Not exactly sure what that means...Open every single application on the phone? That would be odd...
